Side Gate Brewery & Beer Garden

We tried the porter, amber and sour and were impressed with the taste and quality of each. Lots of seating indoors and out, very dog friendly and food trucks available most days. You can also bring in outside food. Fire pits we’re not working the day we visited, it was a bit chilly but otherwise no issues! Will definitely be back! Managed to take no photos of the beers or patio, but we tried 2 of the tacos and the chicken sandwich from the food truck (Charlie’s? I believe) which were all very good.

I had a flight of their beers. While everything tasted alright, I think I might have missed out on their best sellers. The additional seating upstairs is a nice touch, and they have a lot of board games available for customers to play. It’s a really family and pet-friendly place to hang out, which is great.

Honestly, they had an Amber on tap that was delicious and for that reason alone, they get 5 stars. Side Gate hosts awesome musicians and has a great patio. Plus, you can bring your own snacks or order from the food truck.

This is a gorgeous space to have a beer. Large outdoor area, downstairs seating and some loft seating as well. They had like 9 beers on tap when I was there, and I tried the 4 Pale Ale varieties. They were all pretty good, with some different flavors than your standard at many places. It seems like the brewer is trying new things, so I expect their beer menu to be constantly evolving. Great stop though for sure.

This place is new and beautiful! The inside is lovely and the upstairs is very nice. The beer is a little pricey, a tasting paddle is worth a go. They have their own parking lot and street parking is around. They welcome outside food, so bring something from any of the other local food places. The "B" was my fav beer of the bunch I got. My recommendation is to go during happy hour if you can.

Perfect place for drinking fresh beer. I drank Springnanigans. Hazy IPA is so nice. The staff is polite and warned us that they have only drinks. Every day you can find track of food or bring your food. In our case, it was Mexican food - Los Rockeros. We ordered Caifanes for $15 and LA Union (Nachos) for $15. Both dishes were tasty, but the nachos were more delicious. I like how huge this place is - big terrace, tables inside on the first and second floors. You buy your drinks at the bar counter. Here is a calm atmosphere. Board games) It would be nice to have napkins on the tables. Thanks!

I’m not even a beer guy and I love this place. I love the options to either hang out indoors or outdoors. Depending on the season, that makes a big difference. Super well kept and clean. Dog friendly. A great place to come and buy a beer, play some board games, buy food from the food truck in the parking lot. All with your dog. Great job side gate.

The staff was really nice, good selection of beer, it's nice and bright and the bathrooms were clean... Always a plus... They have games that you can play and a different food vendor outside... La Matrix Pizza was DELICIOUS!!!

There's a fantastic brewery in central Concord, conveniently located near a variety of restaurants. You can bring in food from outside, and there's always a food truck offering diverse cuisines. The outdoor patio is spacious and inviting, with multiple seating options, including patio chairs and tall bar tables. Inside, there are two levels of seating, providing plenty of room to relax. Most of their beers are brewed in-house, ensuring freshness and quality. The staff is friendly, courteous, and welcoming, adding to the inviting atmosphere. It's a highly family-friendly and dog-friendly spot, making it a great place to enjoy a pint or two for all who are of legal drinking age.

Side Gate is a nice little brewery tucked off to the side of Todos Santos plaza. They have a very small parking lot but if you're willing to walk, there is street parking and parking garages only blocks away. No on-site food but they have food trucks practically daily which they post online, so you'll know who's coming. There was only one beertender on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Thankfully she was very efficient and the wait wasn't long. I will say they need space heaters out in the patio as it was very chilly when we visited and there was no seating indoors. So be prepared during these cooler months in case you get stuck outside.

This is a very fun spot to hang out grab some drinks and food! They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a backyard vibe decoration. Extremely friendly bartender who assisted us with grabbing flights and flavored seltzers. They have a food truck that shows up at 12pm (check their website for their rotating food truck vendors). They have a handful of games and it is very clean. Only downside for me is that the handful of beers they do have none that wowed me. With that said I would come back again just for the great location.

We really love the variety of local breweries and tap rooms there are to explore so close to home. Side Gate is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The remodel of the place really opened up the building, with high ceilings, upstairs seating and large glass garage door style doors that open up to the wonderful patio. Lots of seating inside and out. They have a good beer selection and offer beer flights too. There is often a food truck in the parking lot, snacks for sale at the bar and I'm pretty sure you can bring food with you. Great beer and seltzers, friendly staff and close to home perfect!!

I've been coming here for a couple of years. Beers here are fresh and a wide selection. staff are much friendlier than breweries at walnut creek. the inside seating is heated on cold days unlike other breweries. I love the rotating food trucks too. my favorite is the indonesian food truck. their Roti are amazing pairing with beer.

Such a great spot! We are always looking for a casual place to hang out outdoors that is also gated so the kids can't escape. Love that we get to add Side Gate to the rotation. Beers are great, staff is kind, they have pop up food options, trivia, etc. Really well thought out concept. Excited to come back!

The food was okay, the wings had good flavor, but the pizza was nothing special. The light lager tasted a bit like piss. The atmosphere is nice, lights, tables, etc are comfortable. The clientele is mostly late 30s to early 40s. Okay place to sit outside and have a beer, but it's not my favorite beer garden

Sidegate Brewery is hands down one of my favorite local spots in Concord! The beer here is next level--great selection, excellent brewing, and something for every beer enthusiast to enjoy. The owners are fantastic people who are passionate about what they do and it shows. They've been incredibly welcoming, even letting us film our beer podcast, Hops and Houses, here several times. They even gave us the opportunity to do a pre-grand opening podcast and tour, which was such a cool experience. (Find it on YT) Whether you're a beer connoisseur or just looking for a fun, laid-back spot to hang out, Sidegate Brewery is a must-visit. Amazing beer, great vibe, and outstanding people--what more could you ask for? Bonus - incredible Mexican food truck out there most days. Owner is Robert, give it a try!

Side gate Brewery is a winner ! I moved from SF and was looking for a friendly brewery that had good beer and friendly staff. I found it. The owners Kevin and Paul take the time making a good product. Seems like there is always something new to try. Plus are always happy to answer questions regarding beer production. Food trucks are pretty solid. They do not have a kitchen. Garden area is huge and comfortable on a sunny day. They have a upstairs area for parties. To be honest I never go up there. But its nice. Big shout out to the staff. I always feel so welcome. Keep up the good work ! Cheers : )

If you're looking for a place to enjoy great beer and questionable life choices, Side Gate Brewery & Beer Garden is the spot! I stumbled in here (literally) and was greeted with the best kind of welcome--a cold pint and a warm smile. The beer selection is so good, even my indecisive friend finally made a decision... after 20 minutes. The beer garden is a paradise for anyone who loves sipping craft brews under the open sky while pretending to understand the difference between hops and barley.

Great beer selection and really enjoy the ambiance of this place. They have a really nice outdoor seating area and the food trucks they have are always delicious.

We came for their Oktoberfest event and had a great time! The space is not huge, but there's still a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. They had a food truck and a band and some craft booths. They had like 5 German style beers on tap and all 4 we tried were great! The hefe, dark lager, helles, and festbier were all excellent! The staff were friendly and the vibe was great. We'll definitely come back here to try more of their beer (and maybe do trivia!).

Ambiance is perfect and THE BEST BEERTENDER around will follow Carlo where ever he goes. Great vibes as always.

This is a little gem of a place. Unless you're specifically looking for the place, I can see where it might be easy to miss. Which is actually a good thing. It's hidden by some trees and a side gate. Get it? Get it? Service with a smile here, and they have tons of beers on top. I like to try new beers, and some were excellent. Most of the IPAs are delicious but I usually go for the good times with friends and coworkers. I forgot if there's food here, but even if they did, it's not a big part of their service. Great vibe. Great space. Definitely will visit this place many times over.

A Groupon deal brought us in for the first time! Cool environment. We liked their 'On the fence' IPA! Planning to go back for Octoberfest !

We went here for Mother's Day, got their right as they opened. Not crowded, friendly service, good beer, nice venue, and food trucks providing eats right outside in parking lot. Hit and miss on the food, but not Side Gate's problem.

Great neighborhood brewery! Had live music when we went, check out their Instagram or website! Lots of street parking, near downtown Concord and walkable to restaurants or the main downtown square. Ample seating outside, inside and upstairs. Bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. Games for play, family friendly. Bartenders were upbeat and quick to serve and make suggestions. All the beers were tasty but they do great hazy beers! I enjoyed both Hazys but my preferred was the On the Fence. Milk stout was pretty tasty too! The fruited sour wasn't too tart and fruit forward though so maybe skip that if you're used to more fruity and super sour beers from Rare Barrel or Fieldwork.

So this is a cute little hole in the wall establishment. Super cute place. Friendly bartenders. A 4x4 flight is 4 oz of 4 different beers. They do have a lot of beers on tap. Mostly IPA's but they do have the lighter beers too. The bathrooms were very clean!! Definitely a plus!! There's plenty of seating inside and outside!! Overall I would come back and bring friends. There's food trucks outside. Great place to come and hang out. Kid friendly Pet friendly Everyone friendly There's even games to play.

Well, that was a hoot! I was forced - forced, I tell you!!! - to go to Side Gate. First thing, good parking. Secondly, a completely remodeled seating area, long bar, and patio area. Thirdly, over a dozen of their own beers being served. The thing after Thirdly, friendly/knowledgeable staff. And, lastly, the beer was tasty... The food truck, as food trucks tend to, had a selection of entertaining food (had curry nachos, which were surprisingly good). Oh, my significantly better half (who hates beer, go figure) was entertained by the seltzers or ciders (honestly, she was happy and it wasn't beer, so I was being an idiot not paying attention). Good place. Suggest you go now.

Los Tacos in your Belly. A food truck they had, made me wait for over an hour for my food just to tell me they didn't have what I ordered. They offered something else, 10 minutes later they came back with my $ and started packing up. The owner and I started arguing after I told him I would never spend another $ with him. He started to curse me out so we went back and forth. He called me lgbtq slurs and was trying to square up with me. Don't spend your money with that "taco truck". Beers are good and atmosphere is nice otherwise.

Best brewery in all of nor cal!!! A must go too! A hidden gem with the best beer!!!! The variety leaves your pallet wanting too try more!!!!!! The environment is incredible and very family friendly!!!! The staff here is like hanging out with family or long lost friends!!!!! So laid back and so clean and a great place to play a board game and grab and delicious beer or refreshing sour! Alexis is a wonderful manager who goes out of her way too make sure this is the greatest brewery experience ever! Michael serves beer with a smile and a great conversation! He really makes your day!!!

Did trivia night here. Decent beer. No food but there was food truck. It's a bit noisy when the place is full.

Great selection of beer, a nice open outdoor patio, a friendly staff and large parking lot! Looking for your new favorite brewery and beer garden? Look no further! Friends don't knock here ... that's the slogan. The interior is nicely appointed. Starting with a large wooden bar, plenty of tables downstairs for medium to large parties, stainless steel vats with beer brewing case an upper seating area with art on display that provide a slightly more exclusive seating area. Don't forget your growlers, the beer is great to go too!

We love checking out "new" to us breweries. Side Gate has a decent amount of parking but I could see it filling up quickly. The outside area is awesome. The picnic tables are great for groups and the service was accommodating and kind. When we were there the beer seemed to be a little warmer than we would have liked but not so warm that we couldn't enjoy them. They had a pop up food vendor outside that we loved. Overall seems like they're doing great things.

Love everything about Side Gate. Our favorite drinking spot in Concord. Could do with fewer toddler birthday parties there, but oh well. That seems to be the thing now!

"Creative Brewery + Art Gallery!" Yes--You heard that right; it's not just a brewery and taproom-- it's an art gallery! Of course, before I begin my art tour, I had to get my brew. They have about a dozen beers on tap and I selected a light pilsner. Just what the doctor ordered! Here's a secret: Go upstairs to the room called The Loft. The nice folks here at Side Gate allow local artists to display their art for free! I had a chance to talk to one of the managers, Andy, who gave me a tour of their brewing facility and explained the history of this business. He explained that the city of Concord wants to make Concord a beer mecca, and they have a lot of beer connoisseurs on the city council. They have a spotless brewing area just off the dining room. If you're really nice, they'll let you go in and take a look. But most of all, don't miss the "Loft" upstairs. That's where they have the artwork. After you check out the art, go outside and visit the garden area. This is definitely one of the nicest breweries I have visited in recent days. A lot of creativity has gone into creating this warm, inviting environment. Congratulations for getting off to such a fantastic start! And thank you for being such a wonderful asset to this great town.

The day after Thanksgiving my friend wanted to catch up over some beers. I've driven past Side Gate Brewing a few times but never got a chance to check it out until recently. Inconspicuously located just on the outskirts of Todos Santos, this place is much bigger once you go in. Outside it has a beautiful beer garden with a lot of space, inside there or two levels so you definitely won't feel claustrophobic in here even at peak hours. They offer many choices, from pale ales, porters to anything in between. My friend and I in typical Californian fashion ordered West Coast IPAs which you can never go wrong with. They also offer mini pints if you don't want to commit to a full glass. There were many children in the beer garden so this place is definitely family friendly for those who might be wondering. Most days they also have food trucks but they welcome any outside food you bring in as well. It's a beautiful space with a mellow vibe so I will definitely be back.

Tonight I visited Side Gate for the first time with my dad and brother. I found a deal on Groupon 2 beers, 2 keepsake cups for $16 (regularly $27) and thought it would be fun to take them since they both enjoy beers! It's a cute smaller brewery with both indoor and outdoor seating. Using the Groupon was easy I just showed them it and tipped the bar tender with cash. We ended up ordering 2 additional beers for them to try! They seemed to like their drinks, I even tried a little bit of the cider and thought it was nice even I don't like beer. They have a water jug with cups on hand for water, it seemed dog friendly too! They apparently on most days have a food truck parked outside so we tried the Cocina Danzón food truck and really enjoyed that. It was nice you could eat it inside with your beers. They also had the raiders game playing on their TVs so if your a sports fan that's a nice touch. If I was in the area I'd definitely check it out again!

A perfect venue for casual get togethers or a private party. The outdoor patio so inviting! We recently attended a private event in the loft area and it was an amazing venue. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff! Looking forward to their Oktober Fest - what a great place to celebrate this season and enjoy the very best beers in town.

I came here with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday. There is tons of seating both inside and outside. If beer isn't for you, they also make and sell hard seltzers! While they don't serve food, there are food trucks outside that you can purchase from. You can also bring in outside food. I can't wait to visit again!

Good taproom in downtown Concord. Side Gate has a good selection of beers and a casual atmosphere. I had both of the delicious hazies liisted below. We were there in the early afternoon, so didn't see it during peak hours. I'll go back the next time I'm in downtown Concord and would bring friends. On The Fence Hazy IPA (6.8%) A juicy hop bomb that teeters on the edge of insanity! OTF will knock you off your throne and have you putting the pieces of your mind back together after one taste! Citra. Mosaic. Idaho 7. 100 Hazy IPA (6.4%) We're keepin' it "100" with our 100th batch brewed at our brewhouse in Concord! Our newest Hazy is made with Motueka and Citra hops with notes of melon, key lime zest, and lemongrass.

Great outdoor and indoor seating. They have rotating food trucks, but you can also bring in your own food. They have hard seltzers and you can switch up flavors or even ask for off the menu flavors like "princess peach" or "white gummy". Almost liked the seltzers more than their beer. Outdoor seating is nice but the trees that they have produce so much stuff that when it's windy, it's gets all over you. Like pollen or something. Not good for people with allergies (hence the 4 stars). Maybe they can put like a net underneath the tree branches or something to catch all the things. They have games for customers to play with too. Can't wait to come back for some trivia night on Wednesdays!

Do not hold an event here! We did and had to pay an additional $700 than was NOT agreed upon. We planned a gathering for a friend outside on the patio and they set a $1000 minimum then changed the time frame that was agreed upon to make the minimum then added an extra change because a game was on (this wasn't discussed or agreed upon previously and we were outside not watching the game). Our group only spent $600, fine, charge us the extra $400. But then we had to pay 20%, even on the $400 we did not actually spend, plus the extra fees, the total came out to be $1700!!!!! Way higher than the $1000 minimum. They also wouldn't allow us to buy the to go beer to try to make the minimum. They are not forthcoming or clear with their prices and definitely took advantage of us. We had a group of 40 or so and none of us will be back.

We stumbled upon this place while in concord. Very cool laidback spot downtown. They have a good beer selection but my favorite was their selection of seltzers. I only tried 2 flavors but I really enjoyed them. They also have a food truck but we got there later so they were closed already. The other thing we thought was very cool is their garden. So nice and dog friendly. We saw so many dogs there. Our little corgi really liked all the attention of people and seeing other dogs. The last thing we really liked was that you can take food from anywhere and enjoy it there. We will be back soon because we really enjoyed it there.

I love Sidegate! So glad we have an awesome, family friendly brewery in the neighborhood! Super close to Concord Bart so ends up being a great meeting place as well. Great beers and love the fact that they allow outside food in the community.

Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere when considering a venue to host a gathering. I have thrown and hosted my fair share of gatherings and this by far was the worst customer service experience I've had. We had various concerns on the day of the event and the event manager was unavailable and unreachable. The bar staff attempted to contact the manager throughout the day, to later inform he is on a date, therefore will not be returning any calls. As an event manager/general manager, understandably you can not physically be present at every event. But staff or plan for someone to be available to assist the client at each large event held at your business. When paying a large amount of money for service, you'd hope to have someone available to assist you for any questions, concerns, or adjustments- don't hold your breath for that type of service here. I've never felt dismissed or neglected as a client of any service, until my encounter with this business. I love supporting small and local businesses, but unfortunately can not do so with Side gate brewing. Hoping this will be a learning experience moving forward, do better for your customers, especially those that chose to hold large events there.

I always love a new place to hang out. Just found another one! Located across the plaza from Parque de Todos Los Santos from Hop Grenade.---an awesome brewery that recently opened up that is a must to try. Greeted by their barista this night, Pepper, love this place already...I was graciously received and introduced to Neematoad. A delicious Lager w/Amarillo Hallertau Blanc Hops that provided an explosion of hops with a subtle spice after taste--delicious!. I won't comment on any of the other offerings at this time as I could write a book and I can only vouch for my experience tonight. They offer beer flights and a possible split 8 s ( not for the sours or saisons) if you so wish to double fist it! Beer Garden is nicely laid out, there is a cool loft and main serving room ready to receive you and your guests. The kettles are transparent and easily viewed from wherever you sit. Overall, my advice is: check it out for yourself! Never, never, never act on anyones's opinion! Listen, but judge for yourself! Cheers, amigos!

I've been there multiple times, from opening day thru this weekend. Never been disappointed! Food truck and other vendor options on site usually fill the void for munchies - and if not, there are several spots within a block to snag a bite and bring it in. Beer quality is top notch. Love to see a new place hitting it out of the park with each new brew. Staff is friendly, generally informed about the beers and is open to tastes before pulling a full pint for customers. I'll definitely keep coming back as long as they're brewing beer - which I hope it a very long time!

I'll give a repeat 10 First time art and wine in Walnut Creek Last I made it to side gate, Concord behind the fire house on willow pass and across from Wells Fargo Lots of beer choices and they have a blueberry sour that's great. Big area inside and lots of toilets inside a really nicely done interior that's worth checking out, along with the front gate that a piece of workmanship, I know this sounds like I was overly impressed, but this is a Gem

Excellent beer selections great food and service and music sometimes. Have played there several times with the Herb Toor blues band excellent crowds great food great beers.

Came here for drinks with the girls and we were not disappointed! It was great to sit outside and enjoy the ambiance. We will definitely come back soon.

LOVE this new addition to Concord! A fun new spot right in the heart of downtown Concord! They had 6 beers on tap when I stopped by but they are going to add more and more as they continue to brew. Did I mention that the brew the beer on site! You get sit drink around the equipment they actually use! They offer flights of 4 tastings, single pours, and growlers. I went with a custom tasting flight for my first order. I tried; 1st Round Draught, Emu Egg, Beach Read and Belgian Picnic. Beach Read and Belgian Picnic were my favorite of the pours! Light and crisp! Beach Read was my favorite of the tasting so I also ordered a glass of it. I can't wait to come back and back and back again!

Awesome place to grab a beer. This place was a former Pizza place but is off the Main strip of Downtown Todos Santos. It has a nice size backyard and plenty of seats inside. I grabbed a quick Beer and caught a little sport's on the weekend evening. I was referred by my work colleague about their Hefeweizen beer. I loved the Beer and the ambiance. The people who worked there were super friendly and it is a great place to hang with your pals watching Sports. I only did see 1 Tv but noticed they had more seating upstairs. They also make the Beer in house so I will definitely go back and try more of their Beer selection. They do flights of beer of 4 out of their 6 Beers on Tap.

Nice place but a little pricey, the peanuts alone were over $5 a package & the Taco truck was extremely expensive $$$$$ especially for what you got:( There was only 1 server behind the bar.

People are great. Several beers are a must try. Sucker for Succulents (aka Steve's Special) is outstanding. Highly recommend.

Awesome beer, a cool vibe and a nice place. It just needs it's own kitchen to make it's food. There's usually 1 or 2 food trucks right on the property, that SIDE GATE allows you to bring the food in. DOGS are also allowed at the outside area.

It was a pleasant surprise to find this well kept secret of a brewery in downtown Concord. I had been meaning to stop by on my way home from work, for some time now. It was great to find yet another gem of a brewery in the greater Bay Area, as we are blessed with so many. Great atmosphere, friendly servers, and a great selection of high quality brews. A little variety for every palate. I started out with a taster sample of their IPAs, a little heavy on the juicy side, but all good nonetheless. Bru buds, a collaboration with Danville brewery was very refreshing and Haze-o-holics was good enough to require taking a growler of it home. Also tried Belgian picnic, a very flavorful saison, very much like another favorite brewery, they do Belgian well. Business was really picking up, as I left, looking over the food truck schedule and seeing some of the tasty food people were enjoying, I definitely plan on a return trip for some more great brews and to try some of the food truck selections as well.
