I went on Friday night which was African night. The music was pretty good. There's a clear attempt to upsell and add charges in hopes to capitalize on drunkenness. The hostesses were pretty unwelcoming? The venue is fairly dirty, even when no one is there. The valley parking is absolutely terrible. Overall it's a pretty bad experience I'm very few people are dancing, however if you're just here to party with friends then you might be able to enjoy your time.

Not sure what happened here, new management? New owners? This place has really gone downhill. Gone are the sexy go-go dancers and good music. The dress code and door policy seems to be gone as well, and its painfully obvious before you even walk in. The strong smell of marijuana and slow, mumble rap music blares out into the street. Loud, angry ghetto people and thugs standing out front and filling up the patio space. Its seems the new policy is let anyone in. The new crowd doesn't actually book tables or buy drinks, so all the tables were empty, but there is literally no wait at the bar which is good. Some nights they have a Mexican (Latin) night and don't advertise which nights, so you will show up and get charged a cover fee, and not realize until after you enter that its 95% Spanish speakers, half-empty and the entire staff is replaced by non-English speaking workers. Most nights, its thug rap non-stop, less than a minute each song. We've tried several times to keep giving this place a chance, but we'll likely never go back. The new crowd they are attracting and accommodating just aren't our cup of tea or scene. This used to be one of our favorite places to frequent on the weekends. The pictures and social media posts sadly do not reflect what you actually see currently at the club on any given weekend. Not recommended. (Original Review - October 2017) We had a wonderful time here. The music was fantastic, the bar staff was fast and served excellent drinks at a reasonable price. Club and door staff was very courteous and friendly, restrooms were immaculate all night. The go-go dancers and wait staff were all gorgeous, and the bottle service was a show all on its own to witness. Crowd was full of well-to-do, attractive and stylish clientele. Dress to impress and arrive early or you might not get in. Book your table or get on a guest list in advance, as the place fills up fast and gets very busy. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

I experienced racism from the customers, not the staff. A girl and her friend walked up to me and asked me a million questions, and we were having fun chatting and dancing for a while. She asked me if I had a business card and I did. Her: "Good, that's good because my friends think you're a cop." I don't think I look like a cop at all! An hour later she told me I should go because there was some guys talking about beating me up. For no reason at all! I was the only Caucasian in the club, and I was singled out for no reason at all.

I booked a section in advance in January. I was never told by anyone that we all had to pay an additional amount just to get into the club. I will not be going back, a complete scam. The man at the front was aggressive. When I told the lady about it, she said the man at the front should’ve never did that. There should be communication between the people outside asking for money for wristbands and the people booking the sections. The place was a vibe but other than that, the people working there are rude.

Love the vibe and the atmosphere. Overall, it's a tight space and the layout is funky. It's more fun if you have bottle service but too crammed to just stand around and be drunk. I need space and that patio is not enough. It's a uptown bar so you'll more than likely be standing on the sidewalk to get in or not. They have great gogos, theme nights, and it's always PRETENTIOUS

Pretty packed on a Saturday night. We got a section which ended up being in the back near the men's restroom. The section seems like it's cut off from the rest of the club. You can't hear the music where we were located. The section was small, the mixers were watered down when we received them. The hostess we had was super cool, wish I could remember her name. Would've been a 5 star experience with a better section.

WE WERE ROBBED BY THE STAFF!!! Came here for a birthday celebration and we were robbed by the staff. A bill of $3500 for drinks we never ordered! After trying to contact the management they said they had gotten rid of video surveillance. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY! Ridiculous

Came here on a Tuesday night after a friends birthday dinner. I felt safe because they did through patting downs and check girls bags. We got there a little bit after 11, it was almost empty but to my surprise it got packed as the night got older. It's basically a night-club because the bar area has no seats and the only way to have a seat is to have previously bought a table. It would be nice if there were a few spots for you to sit. They have a sign that reads 'keep Dallas pretentious' I found that a bit obnoxious lol. The dj plays music ranging from edm to hip-hop/rap, I preferred edm more but everyone was having a blast and dancing. There are girls dancing on a platform and they do have great production, lasers, and confetti. It does get hot with all the people but they do have CO2 cannons which was nice, way to cool us off. Not sure about the price of the drinks but I had ranch water and they were good. Overall fun night with fairly pleasant staff but the music just isn't all for me.

Our server was welcoming from the moment we walked in. The price is very reasonable. The food was so good. I had a chicken pasta, in which is was probably the best pasta that I ever had. Their funnel cake and ice cream...omg how delicious!

Fuck this place. Drinks are like 20 bucks. And they tried to make me pay $20 twice. I already had bought one on Eventbrite. I tried telling the bouncers and callled me a "white boy" and said pay up or bounce. Needless to say i wont come back and found a bar across the street that aren't stingy cunts.

Sweet little club on Sunday night during my recent trip to Big D! Me and my homie went after watching the Cowboys/Bears game and it was a cool experience. This place seems to want to be a pretentious joint hence the sign on the inside that says Keep Dallas Pretentious. Its actually not so pretentious though as everyone was conversing with each other and it seemed like lots of people knew each other. They have girls (fully clothed) dancing on the poles when you first walk in which sets the tone for a sexy party so to speak. Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott even showed up after the game and chilled in the VIP area for about 30 minutes. Bartender chicks were really cool and cute, but drinks are expensive as fuck here. Cool spot to maybe go for a drink or two!

One of the Hottest Spots in Uptown. Tuesdays & Fridays are my favorite nights. Great DJs, Bartenders and the best bottle service.

Don't go here. They're the worst place to visit in uptown Dallas. They charged me an "entry" of $25. That's just stupid of them and then the bartender was surprised the entry was $25. They charged me for water (twice) which came to $12.99 so $6 per water. When I asked the bartender to give me a wells bourbon (which was Maker's Mark), she poured me a crown Royal. As I pointed out to her that I needed a bourbon she guilted me in stating how I am going to waste this drink and threw it away angrily. Really? What a nasty attitude. I am just letting y'all know what to expect. The BBC bar next door is a much, much better place. I was there earlier and it was a blast..unlike this nasty place. When sidebar goes out of business (which is going to happen), I'll be the most happy person.

I came out on Sunday night (Dallas Texas) to check out this venue and the wait staff is horrible. The damn waitress has run my credit card 3 times totaling over $6000. Don't use your credit card/debit card with this bar. I've been calling all morning and I'm not getting an answer. I've notified my bank and this is definitely fault.

I'd give ZERO starts if I could. I'm visiting from Cali and wanted to try this spot out. I came wearing a cute dress and sandals (I recently had food surgery) as I was walking up I was pulled aside by a rude bouncer, he said I couldn't go in with because of the shoes I was wearing. I find I funny that a few guys walked right in with cut off jean shorts and sneakers and that was ok. I'd never recommend this place to any of my traveling my family, friends or business partners.

$10 cover on International night? For what? Maybe the guys pay $5 and ladies are free to enter but not $10 each. The funny part is there's a tip jar at the host stand. LOL Tip for what? Tip you for taking an unjustified cover charge?! ‍ The MC/DJ loves to hear himself talk instead of just playing good music. I've come here because it's walking distance from home but we won't be back. We will walk 1 more block to LongShots instead.

Where do I start... Upon arrival, we notified them of our section. We figured out there was a limit on the amount of people that could come in as our group which was never explained before purchasing. The door man then charged the male in our group $100 for wearing shorts. There is no website or dress code listed on the instagram page. This is not an upscale club by any means & there were MANY individuals dressed far worse. When explaining our concerns to the "manager" (& person who handles social media communications), she was very rude, short & never offered any resolution. We explained to said manager that there was no dress code & she lied stating that it's listed on the page. When asking where it was located she then stated it's at the discretion of the door man. Next, The size of the "section" was never described prior to purchasing. You could only sit two average sized women comfortably in front of the coffee table. The entire venue is uncomfortably small. There is only one bathroom per gender. Overall, we had a very negative experience & it was definitely a waste of $600+. On a brighter note, the DJ played good music... & Our waitress, Taylor, was beautiful, professional & very efficient with assisting us throughout the night.

This bar does not have a working phone number. It is almost impossible to get a hold of anyone. One of their listed numbers doesn't get answered, instead you will receive an automated text asking if you have questions. And then you have to wait hours for a response. I left my Id and credit card there last Saturday and haven't been able to get it until now. I drove 40 minutes on my lunch break just to see they were closed, despite the listed hours saying they open at 10am. To say I'm angry is an understatement. How does a working business not have a phone number? What a joke.

Never disappointed here. Staff is Excellent! Djs Kill it! Everyone who has Negative reviews are people who are rude, no manners, broke turds. I've never had an issue here being a 5 at best Male. Treat staff with respect, they treat you like family.

This bar is a strip club without the lap dances . The women working were wearing literal g-strings and bras . Not very hygienic ladies . This felt more like a gentleman's club . Not a huge fan.

This was never my favorite place before but now I REALLY hate this place. Mind you I was only in there for about 1.5 hours. I was there about to two weeks ago and had the worst experience with the blonde, white bartender. I ordered two royal fucks and handed her my card. She never gave it back and she never asked whether I wanted to open a tab or not. My friend asked her for my card back and she looked confused. She was acting like she wasn't the one helping me and was trying to push the situation onto someone else. Finally the Asian guy next to her, maybe her manager I really don't know, walks up and asks what the name on the card is. My friend gives him my name and he says there's no tab open for us. We tell him we know that, we just want my card back. He asks us who helped us and we point at the girl who's been standing next to him this whole time looking confused. She pulls my card out of her dress and hands it to me. Then there was a fight and this place is small as s***, so everyone is all crowded around the table not moving. Just annoying. To top it off, three days later I noticed that they overcharged me for my drinks. I don't know any place that charges almost $50 for two Royal Fucks. Of course I spent the last two weeks playing phone tag with the receptionist because apparently the manager will give me a call back when they are available. I guess they haven't been available the last two weeks. I've also sent emails because I figured, you know, maybe an email would get their attention. I was wrong! I'll stop ranting, but this place has horrible customer service and the place is not worth the hassle AT ALL! So many better places in uptown! I'm also pretty sure the doorman is racist but that's a rant for another post....

I will never go here again. The girl at the door was very rude to me because I wore sandals. She said I could only wear heels or tennis shoes, and that I'd have to pay and extra $20 to get in because of my sandals. So luckily I had heels in the car that I went back and put on, just to get in this raggedy place. I had one drink and it was $16. The bathroom was filth. I literally saw at least 10 other girl with sandals and I asked them if they had to pay an extra $20 to get in because of their shoes, and they all told me no. So I really felt like the girl at the door was just being a bitch. Do then the place close 35mins early. Out of nowhere they just turned on the lights and stopped playing music. This place is one of the worse clubs/bars that I've been to in a long time. I really don't recommend anyone going here. It over priced and not worth your money. It's $20 to get in and it super crowded! No mask or anything unforced or even recommended. They don't care about anything but making money off of their customers! I wish I could have taken pictures but it was too dark in there. Take my word and don't waste your time with this place.

So my bestie loves coming here & we've been here a couple of times now for birthday celebrations. I've had a great time both times. It's always Latin night when we come and I do wish they would mix up the music a little more, but I digress. Not sure about the cover charge and we've always gotten in free. I do think there is a cover charge after 11pm, maybe?! The parking sucks if you want to do self park, so if you come...car pool or make sure you come with a friend so you don't have to walk far alone. The drinks are decently priced ($6-$10 and maybe more) depending on what you order. The "bottle service" girls are nice and attentive, so that's a plus. This is a typical night club. Real chill, good music, great drinks & a lit atmosphere. I'm sure I'll be back!

Let me start by saying we have a great time that night at this place, good DJ, great bottle service. Here comes the punch. Bouncer and I agreed on $600 for 2 bottles and champagne for 8 people with 20% tip we were expecting $720 total so when i got the final bill for 540 I was surprised so I gave then $700 as that was the agreed amount. Come to find out they split the tab with my friend and the total was over $1100 something and they split the tab between us as we both offered them our cards not knowingly, that is some shady stuff, they knew we were having a good time and added themselves little extra.I have called 3 times, my cc will mostly likely give me the money back but this is not the right way to do business.

The bartender acknowledged me after standing at the bar for 10-15 mins. Took my order, then walked off. After 10 more minutes. The guy next to me got his order placed before I was acknowledged again. Hands downs. Worst service I've ever seen

I will never visit this place again!! I was treated like a low class citizen at the door by security. I watched this man let everyone in but me. My brother literally had to act a donkey for me to get in, why?

I had a table for a friend's bday here and everyone had a blast! Great music, lively crowd, awesome bartenders/servers. I love the 'Keep Dallas Prententious' slogan! I specifically pick the table right under the sign.

This is one of the worst night clubs I've ever been to. Went there on a Tuesday. Stood in line for 30 mins, and never got in. They were letting some women in, but I had to wait. The bouncer was rude. I guess if I was a pro athlete I would've gotten better treatment. For some reason it seems like they have a problem with people of color. Look at their reviews on other social media accounts. It's sad. Will not go back, nor recommend it.

After reading numerous negative reviews I was hesitant about booking a table for my birthday. But I'm glad I did. I don't have anything negative to say about this place. I got a table for me and my friends on a Saturday night and we had a blast. Bottle service was great! The girls are really friendly (girl with the glasses was my favorite). The manager was very attentive and even checked up on me to make sure I was having a good time. I'll definitely be back for their Friday Latin night soon.

*Repost* Decided to go out last night with some friends since we hadn't been out in a while and ended up with the worst experience at this crappy location. My friend was pushed into the DJ booth by the photographer so he could get a good shot of the DJ playing... Of course my male friend defended her and asked the guy to keep his hands to himself and the next thing we know we are getting kicked out. The bouncer decided it was ok agressively grab and ram my friend against the door bc he said "f*** this place let's go." When we are finally outside the Dallas Sheriffs that were outside told us to leave after I asked for a manager. When I continued to ask if they could go find the manager the sheriff said "you can either go to jail for public intoxication or go home." I was not intoxicated I had a glass of Champagne bc we purchased a bottle of moet at the location and one other drink. Bc I insisted to speak to a manager I was placed in handcuffs and was being rudely spoken to by the sheriff for not having left. I was then approached by the 2nd sheriff who finaly decided to be calm and explain that the reason I could not speak to a manager was bc the manager was next to us when I asked for him and he said he did not want to speak to me. At no point had this been mentioned before me being placed in handcuffs. I understand that manager of the establishment does not have to come speak to anyone if she/he doesn't want to but it would have been the right thing to do when the reason this started was bc a staff member decided it was ok to put his hands on a customer. I'm actually in the Service Industry. Rolled in with a service industry friend, in super chill clothes. Got told they have a dress code and we needed to wait. A group of dudes (6 exact) come up pretty much dressed the same way we are... allowed in immediately. As a service industry veteran, this is why I don't attend places like this!

I was in a group of 3 females and 3 males. We were all dressed nicely. We were not allowed in because two of us were in flats. Apparently only girls in heels are allowed. However, the bouncer said he'd make an exception if we bought a bottle. How absurd! What if I had a disability which kept me from wearing heels? I spent my money elsewhere.

Smells terrible inside and especially outside. That's all I have to say.. every thing else is good but definitely not worth dealing with the smell that gets worse every time. Sometimes it's the only thing poppin on a Tuesday so I settle and go but damnnn the smell. Love you Dallas

Shittiest place ever. Booked a VIP table and spent like 800 on 2 bottles and then they kicked us out right away after we finished our last bottle. They claimed that we were too drunk... Uh, wtf? Shady ass place. Hope this shit runs out of business soon.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. The bouncer H and everyone else are very discrimanatory. I went there on a tuesday night and H the bouncer would only let his friends in, vips and pretty groups of girls. I waited 1 hour at the line and I told.him at one point if he would let our line go in. He specifically told me that i dont have any girls so why would he let me in. Now I dont like to brag but I am an atractive dude and I was well dressed so being single should not be an issue. He didnt let me in or anybody else behing me. I talked to people behind me and some them left but most of them were extremelly upset. Its a tuesday nigh what does this guy expect for me to bring a group of girls and pay for VIP on a Tuesday night REALLY!!!. They are ridiculous and I just hate how they discriminate at the door. He wouldn't even card his friends in my face and would only allow pretty girls to go in. I am never ever going to this place again and I encourage people to stop supporting this place. No bar or place should discrimante like this one does!!!! I ended up taking his name and leaving the place since he wouldnt let me go in or the people.behing me after 1 hour of waiting. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! First time going out on a tuesday nigh!!! Never again to this place!!!!

I had some friends in town from overseas and decided to try this place out since not too much else seemed to be open on a Tuesday.We waited in one line(of about 8 people) and then when we got to the door guy he said we were in the wrong line so we moved to the other one. We waited in that one and when we got to him he said there were too many guys in and he wasn't letting anymore in.He said we could get in if we bought a bottle,that started at 350$. I don't know what kind of operation he runs but I gladly took my friends and our money somewhere else and had an awesome time.Buying a bottle and hanging out in a club full of dudes,nah.

Funniest thing about this place is 80% of the patrons here don't know what "pretentious" means. 3 Stars.

I have never been more disappointed and disrespected by a bouncer. He was rude, sweaty and belittling. This "gatekeeper" called me a broke n##ger and that I was not allowed in based on the way I was dressed. However the end result, we were allowed in but only to see that every other person was dressed with sneakers, ripped jeans and tshirts. If I could leave zero stars I would. Total shit hole.

Wow. I arrived early and was minding my own business, having a seat outside, and waiting for people to show up. I rudely had a light shined in my eyes repeatedly and was told I had to buy a drink or leave. He repeated it several times. Glad to know that's how this establishment treats their patrons.

Drinks are so expensive! Paid $15 for a rum and coke. Might as well go next door for ginger man or BBC.

With the amount they charge for drinks, they could keep the ac running. I know its august but in Dallas every place should be 72 degrees even in the summer. This isn't san antonio

I cannot believe that anyone has had any race issues here...the night that I went, I was definitely in the minority. Of the hundred or so people that were there, Less than 20 were white. This didn't not lead to me rating this place 1 star though. Overall just a terrible experience. Over priced drinks, terrible staff, disgusting bathrooms, and terrible sign others have commented on.

If I could give this place minus 5 stars I would! This is an awful establishment and a total waste of time and money!! The logo on their wall that says "Keep Dallas Pretentious" should read Keep Dallas Racists!! We visited this place for my sister's boyfriend's birthday. We consisted of a large group of multicultural professionals. The majority of the group arrive about 2 min before we did due to the ridiculously long valet line. As my sister, her boyfriend, and I approached the front. The door guy proceeded to stop us and inform us that we could not enter unless we were on the guest list. Mind you it was approximately 40 min after 11:00pm and he stated that after 11pm you can't enter unless your name was on the list. We then explained to the door guy that our entire group just entered the bar about 3 min ago and not one of them were on the guest list. Funny how seeing three African Americans 2 minutes later all of a sudden makes the guest list relevant. Especially when it wasn't an issue nor a topic even mentioned to our non African American friends who arrived well after 11:00pm, but just happen to be 3 minutes ahead of us and a different race. All with the same door man. Interesting isn't it! This place is a waste of time and should be shut down!! You've been exposed for who and what you really are!! You should be shut down for good and your ignorant door people need some cultural sensitivity training......to put it nicely!!

My experience at this bar was HORRIBLE. if I could give it 0 stars I would. I stood in line for the women's restroom (2 single rooms) for 30 minutes. As I was the next person in line, the "bouncer" for the bar brought up some girl from the bar in a right dress that he was obviously interested in exemplified by his grabbing her butt while we were all waiting in line. As the next bathroom opens up, he tries to let her go and (having waited 30 minutes) I say no and walk into the bathroom and onto the toilet. I tell her that I am using the restroom next and that she can watch me if she wants but I am next in line. This "employee" then proceeds to WATCH me as I went to the restroom. I asked her to give me some privacy and she just said "I thought you said I could watch you if I wanted to" as she left the bathroom door open for anyone to watch. This was the most EMBARRASSING experience of my life and I will NEVER retrain to this bar even if my life depended on it.

Went here with a group of 8 girls and 3 guys (me being one). The doormen would only let the girls in and as a result it split up our group. Even in Vegas, they don't pull that crap. I understand needing women to boost a business, but you cant split up a group. Avoid this place!

first and foremost on saturday the dj was hot... but i might hv never known cuz the doorman was a trip.. we had 6 friends inside and 3 of us got turned away.. my friends come then we got in.. punk ass doorman... the bar was slow .. no more pricier than anywhere else .. i expected the place to be a lil bigger.. we were just there for the nightlife so cant comment on the food... plenty of hot chics onsite!

Like any other customer I appreciate good service but unfortunately this place was a disappointment! I would advise not to spend money on this bar since I was a regular customer and got disrespected pretty bad! I understand not everyone thinks like I do! But at the end of the day I am not going to spend money on a place that is not being professional!

As one of the newest bars in Dallas, Sidebar is in a prime location in the heart of uptown. Just from the surface this establishment looks like a great place to have a great time. The music walking up is great and curb appeal is nice. Walking up to the place you hear the latest hip hop music. However, while all this sounds great everything that shines isn't gold. Although they embrace the hip hop culture as it relates to music, they seem to not to be to fond of people who invented it. They definitely live up to the slogan in bold letters as you enter the doors, "Keep Dallas Pretentious". This basically means act as though you are not to impress others or fake it until you make it. This bar is trying to climb the ranks amongst the Dallas night life, but it's sad to say that this place will sooner than later end up on the news for some type of discriminatory matter. Hopefully not, but with a slogan as such and the treatment I've witnessed this could possibly be an end result. I predict that this place will not be opened for more than a year. They will probably close and reopen under another name to try to rebrand this initial awful attempt.
