Sidebar - Review - Memorial - Houston - The Infatuation

"An evening at Sidebar feels like an exclusive jazz club, perfect for a romantic night. Lined with dark leather couches and a tasteful amount of chandeliers (two), we half expect this Memorial speakeasy to come with a “members only” sign. There is a $25 entertainment fee, but it pays for itself in jazzy Michael Jackson covers and the live band serenading guests with a few impromptu shoutouts from the lead singer. Connected to Credence, Sidebar is the after-dinner stop where you can two-step on the dance floor or split a bottle of cabernet and ice cream sundaes in a half-booth." - Gianni Greene

The Best Speakeasies in Houston | Eater Houston

"Adjacent to the new Texas-themed live-fire restaurant Credence, chef Levi Goode’s latest brainchild in Memorial City is one of his most fun ventures yet. Inspired by the oil boom in the 1930s post-Prohibition era, this reservations-only speakeasy features nightly live music starting at 7 p.m. and a slew of cocktails. Bargoers who work up an appetite don’t have to leave. Sidebar serves a menu of bites, including a bar steak and roasted oysters topped with caviar." - Brittany Britto Garley

This speakeasy is a fantastic spot! The live jazz music is amazing, the drinks are top-notch, and the ambience is just perfect—cozy and sophisticated. The only downside is the cover fee and the per-person minimum, which might discourage some guests. It’s a small hiccup in an otherwise incredible experience, and if they eased up on that, this place would be an absolute favorite for regular visits!

Located on the side of Credence restaurant ( to the left). The valet was closed at 10:30pm and only offered to park our car for $15 and give us back the keys (a joke), we parked ourselves. Put the code into the door from their text message. Was greeted by the hostess. She took us to our table for just 2ppl. The live band was so loud it just ruins the ambiance for romance, felt like I was at the club. They took our food and drink order quickly and then took over 25 min to deliver the drinks and then food which was just onion dip was over 30min. Drinks and dip were amazing, service too slow and it wasn’t busy. Not worth the $25/ per person cover charge to have this kind of experience. We left after one round of drinks. Waste of total $50 cover charge plus our tab $65. Would not recommend.

Fairly new speakeasy. Beautiful setup. Great drinks. Food was decent. Service is working out kinks but made us aware of everything happening. Love music was great. Will definitely return

This is one of the best bars and restaurants in all of Houston! There is nothing else like it! The staff are some of the kindest people in the world, the customer service is top-tier, and the live music is always amazing. Live music happens Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. You might end up dancing! “What happens at Sidebar.” - Bill n’ Kim Band

Our experience at SideBar was incredibly disappointing. The customer service was practically nonexistent—our waiter took 20 minutes just to acknowledge us and take our drink order. The food was no better. The steak was charred and lacked flavor, the mashed potatoes were dry and overwhelmed with rosemary, the chicken liver mousse was ruined by an overpowering amount of dill, and the mushrooms were swimming in butter. Unfortunately, nothing about the meal or service was worth the visit. Definitely wouldn’t recommend. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

I had an incredible experience at Side Bar, and I can confidently say it’s a must-visit in Bunkerhill! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was perfectly welcoming with a cozy and stylish atmosphere. The staff was attentive and friendly, ensuring that we felt taken care of throughout our visit. The food was outstanding, and for $50 per person, you really get your money's worth. The menu offered a wonderful selection of dishes, all beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. The drinks were equally impressive, with a great variety of cocktails that complemented the meal perfectly. Whether you're stopping in for a casual evening or hosting a special event, Side Bar offers an hidden dark experience that exceeds expectations. I can’t wait to return for another amazing meal! Highly recommend.

Music was nice, atmosphere was nice, waitress was very nice, floor was sticky at the front door and needs to be mopped, tables were intimate. Expected better food from a highly rated chef and a mixologist at the bar who’s more creative with drinks.

Wow!! What a fun experience in an intimate, exceptionally designed space. We loved Sidebar! Amazing music, ambiance, food and cocktails. The wait staff was very attentive and entering with a code was super fun. I hate seeing bad reviews for a brand new place - it takes time for kinks to be worked out and I'm thrilled to see such a fun place opening in Memorial. Let's support them! The cover charge is $25 and well worth it. The experience was flawless!

Yelp
Very fun speakeasy with quality drinks! I went this past weekend there was a cover charge of $25 fairly easy to book through Open Table. Has the concept of a traditional speakeasy where we were lead to the entrance way by staff once retrieving special code. I loved how dimly lit and cozy it was on the inside. Very beautiful decor. The jazz singer for the night was pretty fun. She incorporated crowd participation but not too rowdy inside so still maintained the element of class. I ordered an expresso martini (forgot to take a pic) and whiskey sour (beautiful presentation). My bf ordered old fashions which were verryy strong (as they typically are) but still a good, quality cocktail. There are also light bite options as well. I would definitely recommend checking out sidebar for a date night, girls night out or pregame like activity before a night out in the city.
