It's a great local cozy cafe with good variety of dishes and sandwiches. Indoor and outdoor seating. Foods are OK but the atmosphere is great with large wide area inside and on the porch. Good selection of coffee/tea drinks and salads. Service is semi self service. Great place for groups to play board games, casual gatherings and meetups. Hard accessible with steps. Plenty of parking around in free parking lot opposite street.

Our first time at Sideboard in Lafayette was fantastic! The hamburger was incredibly delicious, and the veggie burger was also a great option. The ambience is so warm and welcoming—it really feels like home. Ikaria helped us to order food and answered all of our questions positively and patiently. The food was excellent, and we’ll definitely be coming back! Highly recommend.

Lafayette is just getting more interesting! This place is a bakery/sando place with that old rough look and great veranda seating. Pastries such as a French morning muffin, a blackberry, lemon muffin, lemon, lavender tea, cake, carrot, cake, blueberry cheesecake, even the peanut butter sandwich cookie just looks so amazing! For $47.35 I picked up a chicken lasagna to take and bake later on, a coffee and some house made tortilla chips. Yummo baby!

Good brunch place. Self ordering at the desk and seating. The patio overlooks a parking lot and so can get moderately noisy. We ordered the tofu banh mi if I remember right and it was about OK.

I want to give a huge shout-out to Stanford at Sideboard in Lafayette, CA. His hospitality was above and beyond anything we expected. Not only did he stop by our table after dinner to offer us pastries—just to make sure we were taken care of—but he went out of his way to help us in a big way. As we were getting our kids into the car, my wife accidentally left her purse behind. Stanford literally came running out to make sure it got back to us. That kind of honesty, awareness, and genuine care is rare these days, and it really made our night. On top of all that, the food was a 10/10—absolutely delicious from start to finish. If you’re visiting Sideboard, keep an eye out for Stanford. Great guy, incredible service, and an all-around fantastic dining experience! Highly recommend.

Haven’t been back around this neighborhood in quite some time and thought of this shop. Decor and setting remains the same but the food serve is a little different than how I remembered it several years back. Food was good, taste like it was made to order. But for a side of tots and a bowl of soup cost equivalent to one entree is quite something…I guess it was dinner pricing? Service was good and it was a Sunday free parking day which I suppose made up for it.

We stopped in for a quick bite as we had some time before a luncheon we would be attending. We arrived on the Saturday of the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival, so luckily we were able to get through to the parking area. Neither of us had ever been here before, but we are VERY glad we came in! We had 2 orders of Beignets, I had a mimosa, Mom had a Hot Chocolate & my cousin had a Cafe au Lait. From the price, I expected only a single beignet, but there are 3 in an order. They were almost the size of baseballs, and they were so light & fluffy & not dowsed in powdered sugar. They were so Delicious! I had to take 3 of them in a to go box, or else I would have had no room for lunch! I loved my mimosa, Mom's hot chocolate came with a graham cracker dusting on the mug rim, and a toasted marshmallow inside, so good! My cousin's Cafe au Lait was in an extra large mug, and she said it was delicious also. Our server Jacy Z was very nice. My cousin told her that the beignets were Better than the ones she had eaten at Cafe du Monde in New Orleans! I know they are the best I have ever tasted! I am not sure when we will next be up in the area again, since we live in So. Cal, but when we do come up, I will make it a point to visit again! Thank you for the great service!😀

This cafe is too cute! I love the decor and how they serve in elegant ceramics. Better for the environment! Latte designs are cute and definitely makes my day better. And the pastry is delish!

Cute local cafe with variety of dishes. Fresh salads and dishes cook to order. Good selection of coffee drinks. Outdoor and indoor settings with very tasteful touches and decorations. Very local and cosy atmosphere with responsive service. Parking might be a bit difficult but possible.

Cute little homie feel Walk up breakfast spot. I was pleasantly surprised by the Quality of food that is served here. We started off with the bay, which were Good. Not great. The English muffin was offensively delicious. It is quite possibly the best one I've ever had in my life oversize. Wish muffin, Krispy exterior yet so ever slightly chewy it was Fantastic. The vegetable eggs scramble was delicious and topped with arugula. The Mexican plate with pork was absolutely to die for over to perfectly All the employees were friendly, and attentive. Definitely a place I go back to again.

Burger was cooked to temp. Fries were good. There was a pile of undressed arugula on the plate...not much of a salad. The carrot cake way wayyyy too sweet and I'm normally not someone who would say that. I saw a half eaten piece abandoned on another table so that should've been a sign. Not a fan of their homemade ketchup,. It felt staffed by neighborhood kids, which is fine but not very professional. The restaurant wasn't very busy and there about five people behind the register doing various things, but five empty tables outside that hadn't been cleared and were attracting flies and bees.

This place has a great atmosphere! They even have a bunch of lawn chairs and kids game that you can take onto the lawn right across the street for a picnic! Everything I've eaten here has been delicious - my favorites are the tuna melt, chilaquiles, and carrot cake but looking forward to trying a lot more! The Thai salad was a little over dressed and the bread on the BLT was good but should've been toasted. You order at the counter, it's free for all seating, and then they deliver the food to your table. Only downside is it is definitely a little more expensive than you'd expect for a casual spot.

Met friends here for dinner. Lots of seatings inside and on the front patio. You can also pick up some picnic chairs and take it to the park across the street. Street parking has meters, if you park two blocks away, there's free parking without meters. We ordered at the register and they give you a marker to sit on your table. You have to grab your own water, glasses, plates, napkins, and flatware from the sideboard. The food was fine. The brussels sprouts and lemon aïoli was good. The salads were fine. It's a great option in Lafayette.

Sideboard is a great spot to go if you're looking for casual vibes, but an amazing meal! You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorite is easily the brussels sprouts! Everything is super fresh and food comes out pretty quickly. I also love that they have blankets and games set out if you want to take your food for a picnic at the park out front!

I've been meaning to try this place for a long time, and finally got the chance. First, the good: -The staff was nice. -Good amount of plant-based offerings, and options that can be customized to be vegetarian/vegan. Great to see! Their veggie burger is made out of black beans, oatmeal, and other clean ingredients instead of the chemical-laden 'impossible' patty that many places use. -The menu states they use 'natural, local, organic and sustainable whenever possible'. A+ -Ample seating, both indoors and on the patio. -Dog-friendly. Lots of cute dogs to watch on the patio. -Good, upbeat music. What needs improvement: -The busy and strange 'decor' and the deer heads on the wall (gross). -There is a corner where we sat, with a shoulder-level shelf with pointed corners that is a real safety hazard (see pic). It would be very easy to hit the shelf with your head getting up. This seems like an accident waiting to happen, and the shelf should be removed. -No signage out front; hard to identify the place. -The signs all over the place policing laptop use to 15 minutes or less unless seated at a communal table or at the counter, despite there being ample seating. This rubs me the wrong way and doesn't feel hospitable. My partner and I shared the bacon scramble which was tasty but a little too rich for me. I enjoyed my iced mocha. The menu is kind of all over the place, but at least there is something for every palate. May return, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Sideboard Lafayette is a well oiled machine. I was pleasantly surprised at how efficient this restaurant is on a Sunday during peak brunch time. 1. order at the counter- and get a number before sitting down and saving seats. Theres a variety of indoor, patio, and picnic options. if you choose to picnic there is a large grassy area across from the restaurant and they give you a word on a wooden stick to mark your spot and deliver your food to you. 2. the food and drinks here are worth the price- $20+ dollars for a beet salad and worth every penny. I get the beet salad every time because it is perfect! they have a super fancy hot chocolate but I am hooked on their house made chai tea latte. 3. Location is great with lots of parking close by. we came after a beautiful walk at the Lafayette Reservoir. I usually go to the Danville location but the customer service at this location Is far superior.

I love this restaurant. I've been here more than 5 times and every experience has left me full, feeling good, and that my money was well spent. Their ingredients are fresh and organic, their food is delicious, and they are always switching the menu. One of my favorites (which is seasonal) are the green enchiladas. My daughter loves the grilled cheese, the Mac and cheese, and the bean burritos from the kids menu. The service is fast considering how delicious their food is. Their restaurant is designed for inside dining, picnics, and they have a shaded terrace. Our picnic was so amazing. They gave us a really cool stake that you could drive into the grass to signal your order. Their servers deliver your food to the grass with cute to-go boxes in a basket. It was adorable and relaxing. They have picnic blankets, chairs, and umbrellas for your picnic. We brought a card game and the kids ran around with our doggies. The best part of their meal is the dessert! They have baked goods and they have ice cream sandwiches in a cooler by the cashier.

How cute is this spot! I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while now and while in the area for a meeting, was looking for a quick stop-in to grab a bite and maybe a little treat..huge win! I ordered the Thai Chicken Salad, the Pea Soup (tasted just like the way my dad makes it), and a snickerdoodle for the drive home. While I was standing in line other yummy plates I saw coming out were the Chicken Enchiladas, the open-faced Tuna Melt which seems like a fan favorite, and the SB Cheddar Burger. To note, there is also a plant-based menu with a Fiesta Bowl, Wild Mushroom Enchiladas, a Vegan Caesar, and more. Food was fresh, hearty, and definitely feel-good. I already had my share of coffee for the day, but the coffee bar and elevated drink menu is fun. I love the true local, rustic feel as though you're having friends/family come over to your home. For the worker bees, I appreciate the free WiFi for patrons and smaller tables/window seating with outlets. There really is a vibe for any type of traveler and very kid-friendly too. I read that a Sideboard was where Grandma kept everything for the family to set the table, and that is a special staple piece that still holds true for the restaurant and where guests can grab their forks, knives, and what have you. Flavored, complimentary (and cold) water also awaits you on the sideboard. Such a fun fact/feature that wraps this spot together in a bow. Would love to come back if/when in the area again to try the Chicken Pot Pie and maybe a few other tasty dessert treats :) There is parking out front (watch your meters!) and outdoor seating. There's also a little grass area a few steps away if you're wanting to do a little picnic or eat/do work on the grass. Lovely space!

Great food, the service was fast and efficient. You order at the front, and find your own table. We sat outside and our food was brought to us!

Service is good. You make your order at the counter and someone brings your food to the table. The place is very nice inside and outside - they have tables outside and that is really nice. I only had a salad but I was expecting a lot more from it. A Thai chicken salad was described very nicely in the menu but did do justice to the description. It is a great place to meet someone, next time I'll try the pastries and their coffee which I've heard is good.

I don't know why I haven't done a much longer review because I go to sideboard at least three times a month. My friends and I love it because it's just casual and cute. We love eating outside. My favorite things to get are the Panini, avocado toast, veggie burger, And of course, the incredible English muffin! Today we also got the bacon and egg scramble, which was delicious. The blueberry scone was OK. The English muffin was amazing as usual. I got a latte and it was OK a little bit weak. I wish they had ice water instead of water with the fruit floating in it. I know that it's hoity-toity to do that, but I've read so many things about how it's not good to drink water that has fruit peel floating in it because then the pesticides are just soaking in it, even if it's organic fruit I just don't want that. I just like plain water. What a minor complaint because this place rocks!! They also have lots of cool gifts. I actually bought my very favorite earrings there and I wear them every day I get complimented on them all the time I love this place. The service is OK. Also usually a lot of young people work there so they're not that interested in we old people, but that's OK. Today they had samples out of brownie and chocolate chip cookies so that was fun . I didn't get it today but in the past, I've gotten the chocolate pudding and it's delicious. I've gotten the hot chocolate and I love it because they serve it with graham cracker around the rim which I think is fun. Absolutely Highly recommend.

2.5 but rounding up Hhhmmmmm....well you know it might not be the best when i start a review with "Hhhmmmm". Best part was the coffee and coffee mug. I like the 50's/60's diner style mugs. Takes me back to when I was a kid when I would get a cup of coffee in the morning at this diner (Mable's in Benicia) before working in my dad's factory. So back to the restaurant. I had the bacon scramble, glass of Scarffenberger and coffee. My partner ordered a Momo and a mocha and shared some of my eggs. Well they ran out of orange juice so she had a peach belini. How do you run out of OJ when Safeway and Whole Foods is almost across the street. Bacon scramble was good but that's all there is. As my partner says, "What, no carbos?". The menu has a little something for everybody. Sometimes this is good and sometimes not. In this case not really feeling it. It just seems like an eclectic mess. There are nice items here and there and plant based items for those that do that. (Not me). There are Thai, Vietnamese, down home American, and New Orleans offerings sprinkled amongst the various items. There are creepy dolls and dollheads with 3 faces scattered around as well as other weird stuff. The table we sat at was straight out of the 1950's with chrome legs and plastic yellow top. There are other kinds of tables including big round wooden tables, small square tables, little round tables for two and a whole collection of random chairs. Seriously, i think they drove around and found stuff on the sidewalk being tossed when they furnished the place. There is a nice covered front porch area that could be very relaxing but on a busy day is way too crowded and annoying with people bumping into you and chairs colliding. We tried sitting there and realized it wasn't going to work. This place has a weird vibe to it. I can't quite determine what it is but it's definitely there. Not sure if it they tried to make it a trendy place back in the day for the bougie Lafayette population and it got away from them, or what. There are signs posted warning the patrons if you are working on a laptop you need to sit at the community table or the counter. The ladies were eyeballing us and I thought we could be moved any minute since we were on our mini laptops (cell phones). Also, a sign outside for the establishment would be good. Prolly not going back unless it's for coffee and champs.

Hands down a great salad here! My Goddaughter's fav lunch spot. Stand in line to order, get your own silverware & napkins, etc., then find a table. Some tables are shared. All different size & shapes of tables & chairs. Looks like an eclectic old bed & breakfast dinning room. Not a place to go if you are in a hurry. All their salads are very good.

Veggie patty is . Although I prefer gf options, the panko breading and crispy shell make it worth it! Hearty black beans and oatmeal make this perfect patty oooooooooo so good. The patty is full of flavor and has the ideal consistency, not mushy, not overly dry.

The service is very good. The ambience is nice. I made the mistake of ordering a chicken bahn mhi sandwich. On a scale of one to 10 it rates a zero. It was lumpy chicken on doughy bread with very little veggies. Plus, I paid $25 for this awful sandwich. That price included tax and tip. If you want a good bahn mhi sandwich, go to Kibbi's in Orinda or in Walnut Creek. They charge $8.50 for an excellent chicken bahn mhi served on crispy bread. That's the way it's supposed to be. Plus they have other bahn mhi varieties.

There was lots to choose from on the menu plus lots of delicious bakery goods. The latte was delicious. My favorite was the pink and yellow beat salad. We also really enjoyed the Thai chicken wings and salmon and eggs Benedict. The service was pretty quick and we sat on the patio and which was dog friendly and fun!

Adorable breakfast spot in Lafayette. The food is good but a bit pricey for breakfast. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon instead of ham. We were told to get the hot chocolate which was tasty and cute but not sure it was worth the $7.50.

Came by on a Sunday to grab a sandwich. I've been to the Danville location a few times, and this one had the same kitschy decor and menu/bakery selection. One big plus at this location is the grassy area right out front. If the seating is full, it's nice to have the option to picnic, or let the kids run around a little. (The outdoor seating is very limited, so seats fill quickly). I usually come for brunch, so I asked the cashier to recommend a sandwich - she spoke very highly of the fried chicken, and it was delicious! It came with a side of house made potato chips. My kids both wanted to try a bite of my food, and loved it as well. The person who helped me was friendly, the wait time was about what you'd expect for a hot sandwich, nice to be able to grab your own water while waiting. One negative: the leather armchairs were very worn - the material was flaking off the seats. Still, nice little spot to grab brunch or lunch.

Very cute cage! Love the ambiance and the lawn across from the restaurant. Perfect place to hang out with the kids. They have clean blankets, big umbrellas, and games. The food was yummy although I would greatly appreciate some organic options (so hard to find truly organic dishes in the bay) it still seemed like healthier food.

A gem in Lafayette. A fun coffee-tee-pastry stop with breakfast and lunch dishes too if you'd like something heavier to eat (just beware of the high prices for small portions). The hustle and bustle (and strong WiFi) when it's busy in the cafe also makes for a backdrop to do some work solo on a labtop at the community table or window sill. Their hot chocolate although $7.50 for a cup is lined with graham crackers and topped with a roasted marshmallow. Worth trying at least once.

The ambiance is fun. But I ordered the granola with yogurt with fruit and was very disappointed. First I expected there to be nice berries like strawberries. There is a little bit of blueberries but they put cuties and pear on it. It does not taste good at all. The fruit themselves are not high in quality. There is so much bland hard pear that it overshadows everything. It does not go with plain yogurt at all. I looked for honey and all they have is spiced honey infused with chili. It would be nice if there are more delicious berries. RECOMMENDATION: Bigger bowl so it's not so hard to mix without having food fall out of the bowl. Better fruit selection and quality. Provide regular honey. Thank you.

Wanted to try this place since it's always packed with people during the weekends. It's a cute brunch spot and I really wanted to try their bucket of fried chicken. Was it the best fried chicken I ever had, no but I still really liked it and it came with a lot when you do the full portion. We also got the fries on the side too and couldn't finish everything and took some chicken home

I've been to both Lafayette and Danville and I love this one so much more! located near downtown, this location feels less crowded (plus!) and the ambiance feels more home-y. please note though, that parking can be a bit tricky, because it's very limited, but there is street parking everywhere. staff is great and the food is always delicious! I also took my friend here who requires a gluten-free diet and she was happy with the options provided to her. highly recommend!

I've gotten their breakfast and baked goods and everything I've had here is amazing! Parking is not the easiest, but apart from that, 5 stars for the food!!

Had a great lunch experience with the family here. First off, the food is amazing. Not sure you could go wrong with anything. (Would love to come try breakfast here too!) We got salads, chicken sandwich, and veggie burger as well as PB&J for the kids. All the food was tasty. Great location near a large grassy area, perfect for the kids to play in. They even had some games to take and play with as well as a picnic kit and umbrellas if you want to eat over there. Would definitely recommend!

Omg if you want a really cute and fun brunch spot, this is the place! I came here to meet someone and the atmosphere is lively and feels like you're walking into a family's home for brunch. The service here was really nice e and quick to bus the tables. To eat, I had a veggie Benedict. It was so tasty, so light and filling. I even took a pastry home for later that was so fluffy and sweet. I would definitely come here for brunch. Hands down ny favorite spot for Sunday brun

I love Sideboard! They have the best food and vibe. It is a super easy place to grab a quick bite to eat, work inside/outside, or catch up with friends. The menu has plenty of tasty options (the mac n cheese and hot chocolate always hits) and they also have amazing pastries/baked goods. One of my go-to spots when I come home for the holidays!

I want to start out by saying that the service was very friendly, and everybody who worked there was exceedingly accommodating of my service dog. That is not the reason for less than 5 stars. In terms of seating, the options were pretty adequate. The chairs I did try were not comfortable chairs. While I was there with my service dog, three or four pet dogs came in, jumping up on people, skittering, and trying to get to my service dog. I didn't love that. Staff did not kick them out. You order up at the counter for brunch and then they give you a marker for your table and bring the food to you. The man who brought our food was very friendly and accommodating. Because I am gluten-free, I didn't have a lot of options, because most of their items that are marked gluten-free or not kosher, and I don't eat pork. This was fine with me, I was happy to eat a side salad. I let them know I have celiac at the counter, and later saw they had put a note on my order, "GLUTEN FREE!!!" Which I appreciated and is the reason for the fourth star. I paid $9.75 for a side salad. The side salad is supposed to come with a variety of toppings on it; Parmesan, shaved fennel, and Dijon vinaigrette. I was pretty disappointed with my side salad. They gave me about 2 cups of arugula, and with that much arugula, I received about 4 pieces of shaved fennel. They did also give me a few small slices of what looked and tasted like persimmon, which was a nice surprise. it came with a small side of Parmesan to put on top as I pleased. The arugula-to- topping ratio was horrendous. When they first brought it to me, I assumed that the toppings would be mixed throughout, but the fennel and persimmon that you see in the picture is the only fennel and persimmons that were in the entire salad. There was barely any fennel, barely any persimmon, and even though it was generously dressed, it did not taste like Dijon. It was very sour, like it was mostly just vinegar. It was an enormous amount of arugula to eat with just Parmesan on top. I also got a dirty chai latte. The presentation was very pretty, with a little bit of cinnamon on top of foam, but my latte did not taste like chai at all. Just sort of steamed oat milk with espresso in it and cinnamon on top. For $10, I expected just a better latte. The serving is a normal size; it comes in a cup, which is about the size of a 1 cup measure. They gave it to me with a saucer which I liked, but the cup itself did not have a handle, meaning that I had to pick it up like a bowl (well, actually, not "like" a bowl-- it is a bowl) and sip it like soup, Without something to hold onto. As somebody who has a very hard time using their hands due to a disability, this made me nervous about drinking out of the cup. It was not accessible. The people i dined with were OK with their food, but did not finish their dishes all the way. The cinnamon roll was wrapped in such a way that it was very difficult for a dining companion to take off the wrapper and eat it, and there was a very sparse amount of frosting on it. I think overall the experience here wasn't bad at all; the staff was very friendly and the food was fine. However, for just a side salad and a latte-- neither of which were very good-- I paid over $20. I feel like I would have given another star if my meal had been half or even 3/4 of the price that I paid for it. But I'm just not sure it was worth it. Parking was fine mid morning on a sunday. The music was good choices and not too loud.

Cool place to grab breakfast. It's an "order and pay at the register" kind of place. I ordered the veggie benedict and French press coffee. I grabbed a table on the patio outside. They have heaters outside but not enough. It was packed inside so not a lot of choice there. The salad and Benedict were delicious. The eggs were poached perfectly and there was a good amount of spinach and avocado on it. The brioche was a little hard to cut, it was toasted a little too much. My coffee came out about 10 min after my food so I deducted a star for that. Not much in the way of parking, I got lucky and found a spot right in the front. I did grab a couple pastries to go, the olive oil cake and a cranberry scone. The cake was amazing, the scone, not so much. It was hard and covered in powdered sugar which is unnecessary. Still, I would eat here again. Probably when it's a little warmer out.

You can always expects fresh & delicious food at Sideboard. It's a well-known restaurant in the area so expect a line to the counter. You place/pay your order, grab a number and hunt for a table either inside or out. The patio has heaters and blankets cuz it will get chilly but I enjoy dining al fresco. Plus there's a postage stamp grass area that buffers you from the busy road. My favorite menu item is the beets salad and my fav bakery item is the English muffin. I don't get out to Lafayette often so that's my usual order. +Self-serve water and utensils stations

Bucket of fried chicken! Since there's no bone in fried chicken specialty fast food shops around here, Sideboard it is! They satisfy my fried chicken cravings. It's the item we order the most. Someone's we would also get a fiesta bowl to balance everything out. We've also tried some of their sandwiches, and those were alright. A bit much for what we get, so we always somehow stick with the bucket of fried chicken. They have some "secret" menu here too as one time we brought home some chili fries! I was craving legit chili fries one day just as how I crave fried chicken more often than I should, it's Sideboard to the rescue. Bucket of fried chicken and chili fries. Great meal right there. Sometimes add in a fiesta bowl to get some greens and fiber. One item I didn't really like were their tots. Not standard tots, more of fried mush potato bites. I'd love to dine here one day and get a cappuccino, a pasty, a chai latte, and more, but my numerous experiences with sideboard have all been takeout.

Uber popular place in Lafayette downtown. Great selection of pastries and coffee drinks, as well as weekend brunch/lunch. We had a delicious bowl of cappuccino and the Gravlox egg bendicts were superb. Housemade english muffings topped with soft poached eggs, generous portion of housemade cured salmon, with Hollandaise, capers, and chives. Came with side of argula salad with shaved fennel, parmesan, and frech dijon vinaigrette. Delicious! Long lines on weekends but moved pretty quicky, with lots of seating inside as well as counter and outdoor patio.

I just love this place. Casual atmosphere yummy food. I can't see the service quick but you don't have to wait very long either because it's not fast food. It's just good food made well that doesn't take too long. It's a great place to go by yourself or with a big group. Sit inside or outside There is something on the menu for everyone. I just love healthy food that taste so good you think it's bad for you.

Stopped by for a bite while we're out running errands last Sunday on our way back to Oakland. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, laid back vibes all around. My pasta was a bit too al dente and sauce a bit thin, but the crispy prosciutto balanced the dish over all. We loved how dog friendly the establishment is! I'll bring my dog next time!

I always loved Sideboard's lunch, and was really looking forward to brunch on this MLK holiday. Even better was that they had their special holiday menu offering, which I think is their expanded weekend selections. We had a party of 10, and knew it will be a hit or miss with trying to find indoor seating on a rather cold morning. We arrived a bit after 9:15 and got lucky with their one long table and benches insides that could have easily even seat 18. Ordering and seating is just like their Danville location - stand in line and place your order at the single cashier, get a table number and wait for the yumminess to arrive. Meanwhile when waiting, grab your silverware and cups of water at their sideboards. A very cute concept! This location actually has two sideboards. On either side of their interior. Seating also is limited at this location with nearly an equal amount of seats inside as outside. While I have never had brunch at their Danville location, the brunch seemed to be just okay here with multiple people saying that the food was slightly bland. The presentation is beautiful, but the food was a bit underwhelming. There were some exceptions such as the delicious beignets that were perfectly crisped and not too sweet, the French toast, and the flavorful fries that accompanied the Breakfast Burger. Prices are rather on the higher side given it is a fast casual type of restaurant service. In any case, I always love and continue to love the cute ambience and hominess of Sideboard! It's always a great meetup place with friends.

Food is good. Cashier attentive. If you overlook the at-home breastfeeding moms that occupy space for hours on end, it's actually a great place. As a prior breastfeeding mom, I was always mindful of not over staying my welcome and being thoughtful of others that needed seating.

Sideboard is one of our family favorite spots to grab delicious baked goods and warm drinks for breakfast and healthy salads for lunch. You order at the front counter and they will heat up any baked goods you wish which I highly recommend doing. Food and drinks come to your table within 5-10 minutes. You can sit in the cozy and welcoming indoor tables which also have some common tables in addition to private ones. There is also a great patio with heat lamps and blankets available. Food and drinks can also be ordered to go. It's a great family dining spot, the only slight drawback it is metered parking out front, so bring your quarters or park by the library and walk the 4-5 minutes. Enjoy!

I work walking distance from Sideboard so it's been my go to eatery. They have a big menu of breakfast, sandwiches, bigger lunch entrees, coffees, and pastries. I've had their bacon scramble, Plato Mexicano, chicken pot pie, grilled chicken sandwich, chicory coffee, and a couple pastries. My favorite has been the Plato Mexicano. The chicken sandwich came out pretty quickly which leads me to believe that the chicken is precooked and warmed up. The chicken pot pie was extremely soupy and needed some peas or veggies. Parking looks to be limited and metered. They have a public wifi if you need it.

Although I have been to the Danville location multiple times, this was my first visit ever at the Lafayette location. Much like the Danville location, this spot also has both indoor and outdoor dining options available. And is equally just as popular and busy as Danville. Unlike Danville however, the outdoor dining here is right next to a parking lot. So you don't quite get the quiet, cozy ambiance the Danville location provides. Service here is pretty friendly as I've come to expect from having visited the Danville location multiple times. And our food was served to us pretty promptly after we sat ourselves. Since I was there for brunch, I opted for something a bit lighter and chose the french toast. Which arrived topped with blueberries, strawberries, syrup, and a dollop of whip cream. It was quite tasty, and very enjoyable for a breakfast/brunch meal. Also ordered one of their blueberry scones ($4.75) and a chocolate chip ($3.25) to-go, and they were very good after being toasted first before eating. We arrived around 11:30am on a Sunday, and that appears to be the magic time right before the lunchtime crowd comes in and all the tables are filled up.

A few weeks ago I came to Sideboard to meet up with a friend for lunch before going to the Lafayette Reservoir for a walk. Parking is available, but it can be hellish to find a spot. I waited across the parking lot in the park for my friend to arrive before we went in. The set up here is tables for four or more people on the right side and on the left it is like lunch room table dining. There are long tables to sit at. As soon as I walked in there was a line. You order and pay for the food before you sit down, so aside from the wait staff delivering the food to your table, there isn't anyone coming to check in on your food or get those extra things you need. Now on to my order. Truthfully I don't even remember what i ordered as a main entree. I know it came with home fries. I suppose it was okay because I remember finishing my plate, but it's the desserts that stood out to me. As a to go order I got carrot cake and a pumpkin cheesecake. I ordered a snickerdoodle cookie that I ate there. It was good, and popular too. I ordered the last one. The pumpkin cheesecake wasn't my favorite. It was rather dry. I don't know how else to describe it but I'm learning for me to like a cheesecake is more rare than I initially thought. I make cheesecakes that I love, but this didn't pass the test of good eats for me. Now, the carrot cake??? Different story. That carrot cake is a 10/10. I got a healthy sized slice. The thickness of the carrot cake combined with the icing melted me into a puddle of sugary happiness.

We used to love coming here as a family. But man, has this place gone downhill. Service is terrible. A couple people who work here are just flat out nasty to customers (especially those with a book or a laptop). Lines are long and notwell-managed. There are screaming kids in every corner, and for some reason, no parent seems to know how to navigate this in a public restaurant (take them outside, for starters). This used to be a great place to sit and work, but Sideboard now blasts music so loudly you can't hear yourself think. Even if you bring your own headphones, their music drowns yours out. If you try to read a book anywhere except for the one (crowded) designated community table, next the girl talking to herself and the guy coughing up a lung, you will get your a$$ handed to you - even if there are half a dozen empty tables. It's a shame, we've been coming here for nearly 15 years and have written them a bunch of five star reviews, but we won't be back.

This is a unique place I came across in Lafayette downtown. They have a variety on snack options, n guess what, you can also setup a picnic at the park in the front with a picnic mat, basket n chill with frnz for free. Perfect pass time for a sunny day to catch up with frnz. For a person who isn't a fan of pudding, their Banana pudding tasted great. Along with an Agua fresca, it was a great way to spend a summer evening. They do have cocktails as well.

Absolutely love this place (but hate paying $10 for a coffee drink). The food is really good. Love coming here with friends for a glass of wine and some appetizers. It's my go-to when people come to Lamorinda. I've been here countless times for appetizers and drinks, lunch, brunch, dinner, and just for an afternoon coffee. Sometimes the service is lacking - there seems to be a high turnover and a passing point for most. With that in mind, the expectation of having somebody who knows the menu or will politely bring you some food is pretty low. Most of the time the prices sting (as most prices in Lamorinda do). Other perks: blankets on the patio, pet friendly, treats for your dog. Super cute interior. Nice patio music. Grab and go snacks (chips, ice cream sammiches). Park area right in the front so if you have antsy kids you can send them to run around in the grass.

I am not a critical person and but I was so disappointed with my veggie scramble. Eggs overcooked, bland tasting, over ripe avocados and cheese was missing. Did not finish. Thankfully I also ordered the orange mwg cake. That was delicious.

I hate places where I have to order at the counter and usually avoid them, but I'm so so glad I got over myself for Sideboard. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The cappuccino and coffee were some of the best I've had. The plato Mexicano was incredible and didn't skimp on the delicious pork. The ginger cookies were so good I'm excited to try more of the other kinds. And I'll be thinking about the English muffins forever. I'm not local, but this will become a new regular stop for me.

I come here a lot. When the first opened I wasn't a fan but the more I go and the more items I try it just keeps getting better. I love the coffee! a:it tastes good not burnt or old b:their lattes are massive and usually have a nice design for visual appeal lol Their pastries are so yummy and they seem to always have something different every few months. Their breakfast/brunch menu is mainly what I go for. Today I got the poached eggs on toast and I just added salt and pepper to it . I think they should butter the bread personally but I am just a butter lover! . It was very very yummy regardless! The breakfast Mac and cheese sandwich with fried egg tho! Omg to die for! Love this place :)
