Yelp
This review is long overdue. This is my hands down my favorite spot in downtown LG-- if you love craft cocktails and wonderfully executed dishes (particularly the garlic prawns, lamb sliders, and steak specials) in a quirky-vintage-yet-somewhat-romantic atmosphere, you'll love this place too.
Their menus change seasonally (also they don't update on their website), but some items are always consistently on the menu. The fried garlic butter prawns and lamb sliders are my personal favorites that they always serve!
The prawns are fried completely, so you can eat the whole thing, from the head to tail. Trust me, you'll want to. They are so crispy and flavorful! My boyfriend and I would actually have cravings for this. The lamb sliders are also super flavorful (because of the meat's natural flavor, not because of it being too saucy), and the meat is so tender. I highly recommend trying these dishes.
They sometimes have steak specials, like a ribeye that was just freshly butchered and brought in the same morning, which never disappoint. They always cook it correctly at the right temperature that you ask for. My boyfriend likes his filet mignons blue (more rare than just "rare"), but many steakhouses overcook his steaks to a regular rare or medium rare. We had a filet mignon for Valentines Day here, and it was cooked a perfect BLUE! We also tried the ribeyes a couple times as rare, and every time the steak came out really tender and flavorful.
In addition to the food, the cocktails are outstanding (again, their menu online does not get updated, and there are actually a lot more cocktails on the menu than it says online). Divided into sections based on the flavor profiles, the cocktails are creative and balanced well. There is something for everyone! Some very memorable ones include the Snap Pea (they used fresh pea juice!), one with chamomile infused vodka I think (I don't remember the name), White Pearl Martini (they use this special Japanese strawberry vodka), and the John Wick (smoky bourbon based drink-- this one is an experience!).
So... before you automatically order a glass of wine or beer, take a look at the cocktail menu first. :)
This is honestly one of the few places that my boyfriend and I have never had a less than an amazing experience at. Every single time we are satisfied with their drinks, food, and service. We've been here numerous times, and it is without a doubt that we'll continue to be regulars here! Keep it up, Sidecar LG!
