"This Brixton cocktail bar might be called Sidechick, but it’s in real danger of becoming a lot of people’s long-term partner. What was a historic pie and mash shop is now a shiny new bar, though some original features like the stone pebble floor have been kept. A remix on a pornstar martini sounds particularly promising as does a fat washed—you heard that right, cholesterol—aged rum with coffee and coconut. Their thing is, quite simply, roast chicken. And when roast chicken is juicy and crispy and bone-suckingly good, like it is here, it’s simply one of the best things in the world. You can choose from three marinades - za’atar with garlic honey and lemon is our favourite - and pair with crispy potatoes, salads, or smoky aubergine with labneh.
