A Reality Check On Corked Wine

"Having resigned myself to the way things are here, I did a double take when Sonoma-based Siduri Winery’s winemaker, Adam Lee, rocked-up to my office a few days ago, with his full line-up of wines under screw cap. “We switched over to screw caps with the 2011 vintage on all of the wines,” Adam told me. “We actually went to screw caps on all of the Appellation wines in 2008. Prior to that, we started experimenting with screw caps in 2004 and did side-by-side trials all along since that time.” Intrigued, I asked him why he went over to screw caps. “I first made the change honestly because I thought that the number of corked bottles was out of hand. It's about 4 percent now, but it was closer to 8 percent at the time.” And as for the reaction of his customers? “We've had a more positive response to screw caps than I ever imagined,” he replied. “Restaurants have especially loved them.”" - Michelin Guide Digital-Singapore

Amazing experience! Wines were incredible. Alyce our wine educator was full of knowledge and stories. Chris was an excellent host when we arrived. Bought many bottles to feature exclusively at my wine bar in Denver. We will be back. Highly recommend This tasting room and world class wines.

Google
We were recently in the area on Halloween and caught the end of the "Come Over October" tastings they had going. We were thoroughly impressed with both the wines and the staff. This was our first visit to the Siduri tasting room in Healdsburg but I'll definitely be keeping an eye peeled locally for their wines now and hope to return again some day. Our experience was made particularly special because of Wolfgang. He is far and away better than most that'll take you through a wine tasting. He is engaging, friendly and super knowledgeable about all the wine regions from which Siduri sources. In the end we opted for one Pinot Noir and one Chardonnay to bring home. We'll definitely be recommending a visit to folks we know here in Austin and only hope they are guided by Wolfgang.

Google
Great atmosphere and fun place for a good wine tasting. These friendly hosts were good about showing us the good tasting wine. We had a great time drinking wine and meeting interesting people. Plenty of crackers, cheese and other snacks were put out for the customers. Impressed and had fun drinking wine

Google
Had a lovely tasting at Siduri during the "Come Over October" event. Their tasting room is nicely tucked on Healdsburg Avenue by the hotels, making it extremely convenient to boot. Their Pinots were quite nice, and their staff were super friendly and knowledgeable! Thank you Chris for a great first experience with Siduri!

Google
Experiential, unhurried wine tasting with Tim being the host - he is extremely knowledgeable about the wines and vineyards they come from. Family-style tasting in a comfortable contemporary lounge. Turntable playing great vinyls is a bonus.

Google
If you are visiting Healdsburg do not miss this gem! Well worth the time and the money! The Pinot Noirs were diversified and wonderfully delicious. Our host ,Benji, was very entertaining and knowledgeable. We look forward to our return!

Came in on a slow Saturday in January and had an outstanding experience! The wines were delicious and the whole tasting team was lovely. Can't recommend enough!

Google
Delicious pinot noir, an insightful tasting experience, and great value. Our host, Tim, didn't rush the six of us through the tasting. Instead, he took his time with each selection and provided a wealth of history and wine making insights along the way. I was initially worried when our first two pours were so small but I quickly changed my tune when I realized we'd be tasting so many of their wines (a responsible tactic, for sure). And he never hesitated when we asked to revisit a wine. Given the generous tasting experience and the overall quality of the wines (they were all delicious, especially the 2018 Gary's Vineyard) their price points were surprisingly reasonable.

Yelp
Very accommodating and friendly staff. We had free time in town and stopped by without reservations. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Loved a unplanned stop here have purchased Siduri at home in Oregon & noticed the Willamette Valley connection. Their 1000 mile Pinot Noir tasting is fantastic ~ start with their Oregon vineyards & end with their Santa Barbara vineyards. They also have a Pinot blend tasting. Thanks to Tonya, lots of knowledge, information & opinion ~ all added to a nice visit & excellent wine. For having only Pinot Noir, the differences in side by side tasting is fantastic.

Yelp
I cannot stress how 5 star of a facility this place is. I love the new space, and it's got a great vibe. The wines here are stellar, and the staff is as well. We visited while getting some unexpected news, and the staff couldn't be more kind and gracious. I cannot emphasize how good an experience we had with the staff and winery. For someone who loves a good Pinot Noir, this is a must stop in the area. They're amazing wines, and definitely a great experience.

Yelp
We had Tim in the the tasting room and he was fantastic. The wine and stories were great. We will be back soon.

Yelp
Are you ready for an unforgettable experience that elevates what is in your wine glass at the same time that it stimulates the tastebuds? Then look no further that the Siduri Healdsburg Wine Lounge. With a selection of regionally inspired bites that are locally sourced using farm to table means, and your choice of options like a personally curated wine flight or a glass of single vineyard Pinot Noir, you are sure to find something to create lasting memories here. The winery has an exclusive focus on cool-climate Pinot Noir. They produce ONLY single-vineyard, single-variety wine from twenty vineyards spanning from Santa Barbara, CA to the Willamette Valley, OR. With long-term relationships with some of the West's most sought-after growers and vineyards, it is a real treat to taste through the Siduri bottle line up. It is also a lot of fun here! In the tasting room , they believe.... "that serious wine and serious fun aren't mutually exclusive". With choice of casual or reserved seating in the lounge... Choice of wine by the glass, bottle, or even draft selections... Choice of food items from a small plate menu which rotates.

Yelp
Our group visited Siduri on 2/22/2020 and could not have asked for a better experience. The service, food, and wine were all memorable. As you can probably see from my first review, our previous visit was a downer all because of one employee's lack of service. This time Benji more than made up for it. He was friendly and helpful the whole time and the wines we tried were excellent. Plus the magic show was a added bonus. We'll be sure to make our way back in May. If you're in the area I highly recommend giving Siduri a try.

Yelp
Had I really not been to a tasting room before? Really? Seems like I must have been, but I can't recall such a thing. Stopped by mid-afternoon on a Tuesday? Wednesday? It wasn't crowded at all. There's a food menu and wines by the glass or bottle, but we were really there for a tasting flight. So we ordered a flight of Pinot Noir from various regions, which were served north to south, starting with Willamette Valley Oregon and ending in Santa Barbara County. The server or sommelier or bartender or jack-of-all-trades employee or whatever you want to call him (seemed to be the only one there) was pretty knowledgable and friendly and brought cold water for palate cleansing between pours. We got a bonus sixth pour based on what we said our respective favorites were. Kid-friendly, so that's a bonus.

Yelp
New to town, my girlfriend and I went to this place. Awesome choice. Cute place, many forms of seating. We sat by the windows which open. All red wines along the west coast regions, Jordan will tell you all about them so well. There are records to play and the charcuterie is pretty good.

Yelp
I was so excited to see that Siduri has a tasting room in Healdsburg! My husband and I have tasted many times at their Santa Rosa location which is by appointment only. Siduri Wine Bar and Tasting Room also has a menu of food that pairs really well with wines. The food is made by Forestville's Backyard Kitchen. Siduri makes wonderful Pinots that are light and balanced in flavor. I really enjoyed my experience tasting wine there. The person working there was extremely knowledgable and basically told me everything I needed to know about Siduri and the wines. I went back to Siduri Wine Bar with my family to try the food for dinner. While most of us were pleased with the food a couple of people were not as impressed. I ordered the bbq spiced nuts which were quite dry and not really interesting. Some hits were the Candy Cap Mushroom Kettle corn, the chicken pot pie, and the Wild Mushroom Chili. I will definitely go back to taste but probably eat my meal somewhere else.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Siduri. My niece joined the wine club on our first visit and we accompanied her on our second visit. Both times were memorable experiences. Siduri is primarily known for their Pinot Noirs. Though on this visit, they did serve a Viognier. Tasting Room. Comfortable. Very nice vibe. I can see that it could get crowded though. Service. Excellent. They were able to answer questions regarding the wines. Service was prompt, without being overbearing. Wines. The wines were excellent. Not one bad one. Though I did have those that I liked better than others. Miscellaneous. The tasting was presented from north (Willamete Valley) to south (Santa Rita Hills). Fascinating to taste the geographical difference in the wines. Same grapes. Same vintage. Different locations. This was an educational experience for me. So, if you like Pinots, are curious about Pinots, then this is a place that you should not miss.

Yelp
Great place to order a charcuterie and cheese board and taste pinot noir from various microclimates. The staff was wonderful and the wines were great!

Yelp
Siduri is right off of the square and amazing! It is not a typical tasting room, it is a lounge with Pinot Noir and food pairings from Backyard. All different Pinot's from Oregon down the Pacific Coast to Santa Barbara. The people who work there are awesome and were obviously having a good time. I recommend doing a tasting at the bar or sitting in the big front window people watching. There's also a really cool old refurbished record player and a solid little record collection they let people play.

Erica S.

Yelp
Cute spot in downtown Healdsburg. The manager and staff were super nice and friendly, but the wine was only so-so. Great place to stop by and try if your not picky about your wine.

Yelp
I LOVE PINOT and Siduri is a piece of Heaven to sit and drink it! I had been to the Siduri tasting room at their crush pad. For years that is were you'd go for pick up parties and to buy extra bottles. Then they opened their tasting room off the square in Healdsburg. I am so glad they did. While it was pretty cool to see were they worked and made the wine, it was hard to have an experience and really sit and enjoy what you were tasting through. The new spot is amazing. Super cool. Comfy and fun. I love that they have vinyl there and that you can sit with one person or a group of people. They offer tastings by flights or the glass. They have charcuterie boards too. Parking can be hard but there is a public lot across the street.

Yelp
Its alright.. it's a Pino Noir house, so if you dont like that I wouldnt recommend it. Most of them are good. Food is pricey and last time I walked by they were doing a $20 glass of wine plus a slider. I wouldnt pay that much for a slider and a glass of wine, which I know I can get something vert similar at a different winery downtown for $5 bucks cheaper. But I guess thats Healdsburg and knowing tourists will pay, i guess. Lounge is pretty cool. Staff is nice. Would recommend if you want to hang out at a bar that feels like winery.

Yelp
Excellent quality wines and knowledgeable and friendly staff. A range of Pinots from different appellations all distinctive and very well made. Casual and inviting atmosphere for both aficionados and new wine consumers.
google avatar

Phoebe G.

Yelp
The wines are pretty good, and it's nice that they serve beer so you can get something different if you'd like. The tasting rooms is gorgeous, too, but I do wish they would have a bit more comfy seating.

Yelp
Really?!!! We've been sitting here here 20 minutes and no service. Good luck to the team

Yelp
Third time visiting the wine bar here I healdsburg and each time has been a fretted experience. Cody poured for us today, and was absolutely better than everyone else I've experienced here. I've always been Impressed with the wine, but have not been too impressed with the servers here. He was exceptional and provided exceptional knowledge about the wineries and the regions and had the personality to top off the lines. Decided to join today because of him, and in theory excited for my next shipment of wines and the release party! 100% sign a winery to join for a Pinot Noir lover

Shelby S.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience at Siduri this weekend! I had the best hosts in the lounge (with the best Pinot Noir) but was very disappointed to see that I wasn't able to tip them! Is this a normal thing for wine tastings? I wanted to show my gratuity but was unable. Thank you team Siduri!

Yelp
Super cool place and the wines here were delicious. They have approachable pinots but also plenty that can challenge your palette. It's fun to take the flights and see how they compare but also nice to grab a glass and hang out because it's a fun and comfortable set up. The only weird part was a dude at a nearby table wailing on the guitar for his two friends. It sounded terrible but they seemed to be loving it...we found a table further away.

Laura R.

Yelp
Great tasting with Brittany this week. She was fun and really made the tasting experience. Left with 1/2 case of wine. If you love Pinot noir this is a place to check out. Great location in Healdsburg square

Edward H.

Yelp
What a wonderful surprise for Healdburg. I have been purchasing Siduri over the years but now am quite pleasantly surprised to see the tasting room, wine bar and restaurant together just off of the main square in Healdsburg. I love Pinot Noir so I as always happy when a winery not only focuses on pinot but masters them. Siduri is definitely one of the great pinot houses in the United States with so many choices covering all of the major wine regions throughout California. Gary's Vineyard Pinot is a monster with such elegance and depth. So many other of their choices cover all the range from earthy to light and berry flavored. This is a pinot geek's heaven. The service was truly unique. Most of the major rooms in the plaza are surprisingly impersonal as they tend to get lots of demanding and in-impressionable high income folks. Given this many of the other rooms are simply not pleasant to visit. Siduri has truly taken a different approach making the experience extremely fun, relaxing and chill. I was lucky to have Anna as my steward and what an amazingly intelligent and personable person she was. She was so very proud of Siduri wines and was fully capable of explaining the finest nuances of each. She was so smart too about the wine business, the industry, wine trends and the uniqueness of Siduri vs. other wineries. I did come out of the experience way more knowledgeable and, of course, with Siduri pinot in my hands! Siduri holds a unique niche in Healdsburg being an industry leading pinot specialist while offering a high-end, yet approachable, tasting menu with a unique specialty being the fried chicken. I received three independent and unrelated recommendations to eat at Siduri and eat the fried chicken. This was a great trio of recommendation. I am a big fan of this place. It is relaxed, classy, comfortable and extremely friendly. The staff are basically perfect in their professionalism, knowledge and rapport with you. You will come out more knowledgeable and you will return (as I did). Thank you Anna for making my experiences at Siduri so pleasant and perfect. I will return many more times.

Yelp
Great stop to check-in. They have the best fried chicken and tasting of pinots of California from Oregon to Sta Barabara.
google avatar

Billy C.

Yelp
I have met the wine maker Adam before and he really is a great guy! this Pinot house has some great ones in their tasting menu. Definitely more acidic and hotter style of wines but still amazing none the less. Tasting room staff seemed knowledgeable and the small bites were amazing (yet ridiculously overpriced and I won't be buying them again) but still good :)

Yelp
My wife and I happened upon the tasting room in Healdsburg. Had the Pinot flight with some small plates. Super fresh and delicious. Our new favorite hang out for the Sunday afternoon date with my sweetheart. Perfect reprieve from shopping, three siduri bottles richer and the party continues!

Cheryl H.

Yelp
Wine was good. However we arrived at 35 mins prior to close so the experience was not great. It was made obvious that they did not want us to hold up their closing.

Lisa W.

Yelp
Benji greeted us and was amazing on top of helping a ton of other tables as well as Kayla. served us and provided the best experience I have had in a long time. She was very down to earth and knowledgeable about her profession and they both left a memorable experience. Would definitely recommend.

Jaime P.

Yelp
Really great service and wine. We love pinots so it was right for us. That is all they make plus some beers on tap. Ryan was great as our server. Really knowledgeable on the wines. The food menu sounded good but we weren't looking for food. Fried chicken- yum! We had the spiced nuts to get us through the healthy portion of tastings.

Kathy R.

Yelp
It was our first trip to Healdsburg and there are a LOT of wine tasting rooms within walking distance so we asked our hotel for recommendations. We were given a few cards that offered "specials", Siduri being one of them, 2 for 1 tasting. I think some of the reviews must be written by individuals associated with Siduri because we did not find the place or the wine to be good but not great. We thought we'd buy a bottle of wine because the "$20 tasting charge would go towards the purchase of a bottle". Well, it turns out they did NOT honor the 2 for 1 card. We will enjoy the bottle of wine but will not recommend that tasting room to our friends and family that frequent the wine country. The staff should have been up front that they would not honor the special when we first got there and showed them the card. They promptly took the card... but that was the last we saw of it. Our hotel said they will stop recommending them as they have had this complaint before.

Marissa H.

Yelp
All the wines are good I joined the wine club. The employees are so accommodating and the food is the best I have had in awhile. My new favorite winery!

John S.

Yelp
attended their last Friday of the month wine dinner. totally underwhelmed. while the wines, all pinots are really good, the food and presentation needs lots of work. first course salad was drenched in dressing, the second course meat came out cold, we asked if it was meant to be that way, the server went to check then came back and said no, it's meant to be warm, but left us with our cold meat. cheese plate and dessert were fine. But for over $100 a person it was very poorly done. Hope they can get it right in the future because the wine is so good and the restaurant is very nice.

Sharlene S.

Yelp
The new Siduri Wine Bar/Tasting Lounge is fantastic. We are Pinot fans and heard about Siduri's Pinot reputation from friends. The lounge has a warm, casual laid back style. Ana, our tasting guide, helped us navigate the Pinots by region; working north to south from the Russian River to Santa Rita. She asked intelligent questions re. our wine taste preferences: fruity, floral, smokey, balance, etc. And what types of Pinot we have enjoyed... Ana is wonderful! We elected to do the 5 wine pour tasting w/out the paired small plates. It was a wonderful 3 hour tour. Yes, it really took that long but the time seemed to fly by. But I'm sure one could speed along if time is an issue. We left w/2 wine memberships and wine shipped to go. BTW, they will ship to Alaska at a realistic price. Bravo Siduri!!! ps, 1/2 case of wine arrived in AK in excellent condition, can't wait for the wine club shipment.
