The Best Farms, Orchards, and Pumpkin Patches Near Chicago | Eater Chicago

"One could easily wile away an entire day just eating at Siegel’s annual Pumpkin Fest, which features 13 different vendors hawking everything from funnel cake (eight different kinds) and hot apple cider to smoked turkey legs and cheese fries by the bucket. Those who have interests other than food will keep busy with more than 45 attractions — think tire mountains, giant slides, and a demonstration bee hive." - Naomi Waxman

My daughter and I took my grandson yesterday to see the dinosaur exhibits they had going on. My grandson who is not quite 2 loves dinosaurs. They had different dinosaurs around the farm. They were big and made sounds. It was really cool. They had a dinosaur house you could walk thru playing the theme from Jurassic park. They had a big slides, parks and various stuff for the children. Plenty of food and drinks. It was really a fun time. I would recommend for anyone who loves dinosaurs. They also had unicorns.

Great place for everyone, even on the weekend not over crowded, still abit pricey some things cost more like train ride. Foods on the high end too, not bad tasting though. Definitely on our Top 3 Farms to visit from now on.

Google
Great place for kids. Lots for them to do. Plan for a full day 10-4/5pm. The food is good love the cheese curds. Staff is so friendly. Train ride had great music.

Google
Absolutely stunning farm! I can’t believe I’ve never been here before! My toddler had the time of his life here and honestly we (parents) did too, other pumpkin patches/ farms don’t compare. If you have little ones please don’t hesitate to come to Siegels! Their cost of admission is very reasonable for all that’s included ( over 35 unlimited attractions). The farm is clean and so many restrooms are available throughout along with hand washing stations. Their lemonade and food are fresh and taste great. Plenty of places to sit and takes breaks throughout your exploring. I’m just so happy with our experience today, my son didn’t want to leave and asked when is the next time he can return. Not crowded and so much space to comfortably walk at your own pace. The staff were very kind, welcoming, and helpful to all. Just so much to do for all ages. Interactive and such a wonderful time , other pumpkin patches don’t have this much to do for little one. We can’t wait to return to Siegels! Seriously the best!!

Google
Very nice Farm there is a lot of different attractions to visit. Definitely a lot of things for little kids to be able to participate in down to jumping on the big airbags, playing on the playground, rides, games and slides! Plenty of farm animals and surprisingly there was even a bull! Admission fee was $19.99 but definitely worth that especially if you have little kids to entertain. I was surprised that I actually didn't see any caramel apples for sale that was what I was wanting to buy when I went in however there were plenty of pies and popcorn and candies. Overall though it was a very nice experience for my first time and I would go back and visit again.

Google
Best place to go for a family pumpkin farm visit! We go every year! They have so many activities included in your admission price. We always spend hours here. This year was the first year we did the large corn Maze now that the kids are older. Took us about 45 minutes to get through it and we all had so much fun. Animals to pet, hayrides, giant slide, zip lines, and so much more. They add new activities over the years so there's usually new and interesting stuff for us to enjoy. Great food selection here also, so it's nice to have a filling lunch and enjoy eating in the fresh air. Bring the family, have a great time enjoying the farm! I also have to point out that they do great things in terms of discounts and ticket prices for those that keep us safe, such as police, fire, and military!

Google
Went on a school field trip with a group of Kindergarteners, and we ALL had a ball!!! There's so much space & activities (both free & payable) for everyone. The food smelled amazing too. I have to go back & visit the Country Store & get some donuts. I also loved seeing all the different animals & learning their names too.

Google
It was sooo cute over there we were there four hours and had a blast the kids loved the train and ride in army truck as well as the Dino maze. The playground areas kept them occupied for a good couple hours and there are plenty of areas for cute pics. Funnel cakes are huge omg. We spent a little over 200 dollars as a family of five with one toddler

Yelp
What a great farm! There is so much to see and do that I worried I missed something! Great food options and a lot to do for the kids! Highly recommend visiting!

Yelp
Recently came here twice in October when my kids' daycare arranged field trips. I believe we paid a discounted rate and got extra perks for coming as a class. This place is pretty large with a lot to do! They have a couple of different playground areas, a small train, a giant corn maze, jumping pillows, a giant slide, plenty of animals. There are plenty of places for photo ops and they even have a couple of places where it will take your picture and send it to you via email or text. They have a sports area where you can throw various balls. We missed the dino outbreak earlier this year, but my son still enjoyed the dinosaur walk through. It'd be helpful if they had some brushes in the fossil digging area. I tried their apple caramel pie. It wasn't nearly as good as another local pumpkin farm (Johansen), but it was still tasty. I feel like we didn't even explore every area of the farm and we were still entertained for a few hours.

Karin R.

Yelp
This farm was clean, friendly, and so much fun. I recommend it highly. So much attention was paid to detail.

Yelp
It's tacky and definitely more of a family pumpkin patch than for adult millennials seeking fall vibes. That being said, embracing the tackiness was fun- there is a Luke Bryan themed corn maze, slides, and tons of junk foods / a bar to enjoy. The staff were all super friendly. They definitely up-charge everything so it's not for bargain hunters but it was cute and fun. It's an easy day trip from Chicago. Personally, I may try someplace else next time but admittedly we had fun here and I got a great pumpkin!

Yelp
This was our first time here in many years. Everyone had a great time. It appears smaller when you drive by, but there is plenty to do for the price. Last year we went to 2 different farms but we enjoyed our time here more. We found it much easier to park and move around. (Especially for a Saturday) It was much less crowded, which made it more enjoyable because we were able to see and do more.

Yelp
Siegel's is typical fall fun. Its combines old school fun with todays commercialism. There's a lot to do and a lot to buy. They have plenty of food options of varying quality. The churros right by the front entrance however, are some of the best churros I've ever had. You can't go wrong with them. We arrived minutes after the place opened and already the parking area was full. There's animals to see and a giant maze to get lost in. There's a large slide and other things just for the kiddos. If you do everything on your trip the ticket price is worth it. By the time you pay for tickets, food, and pumpkins, you're looking at an expensive trip.

Mia S.

Yelp
This farm is an amazing place to Go with your family during pumpkin fest. They have excellent customer service, food and attractions. Overall gives you the perfect fall vibe I definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
My husband and I love checking out new pumpkin patches every fall and were thrilled to find one so close to home this year. We've been to statesville a few times and seen the farm but never realized how big it was until we visited it during the day this weekend. We purchased tickets ahead of time and the process was super simple, parking was quick and easy and there wasn't much of a line for prepaid tickets. We walked around the petting zoo which has a decent amount of animals that looked well taken care of, got some apple cider donuts and apple cider (probably some of the best apple cider donuts I've had), took a wagon ride to the pumpkin field where you can pick your own pumpkin (selection here was pretty decent), and did the maze (took about 40 minutes, was fairly challenging which was nice cause majority of the other activities are tailored more towards children, the maze was def meant for adults to enjoy as well). We had a good time and probably would come back! Prices were decent about 25$ per person for entry which included most of the activities, food was not included but was priced pretty well!

Yelp
Would give no stars, if possible. Lack of indoor space/seating at Big Brothers event tonight. Their attitude "we told you to dress warm." Konow is a similar experience & they have their act together.

Yelp
I don't know if this place is a hit or miss with people but I don't have kids and I went here on a date. I've never been here at all either and I enjoyed myself here. I had more fun here than at bengtson's. I didn't have issues parking, what they do ask at the front counter is if I want to include a train ride too on my ticket.... "No... " this place is huge and features a great deal of things to keep adults entertained. They didn't complain about me going down the slide. They got a bar (with grossly overpriced drinks), food without the long lines, corn mazes, gift shops, animals to pet, hay rides too. Everything here food line is overpriced but it definitely isn't as over commercialized as what Bengstons has become, I got my money worth out of this place. Not many hick ups that dampered my visit
google avatar

Emilie C.

Yelp
Great farm for kids. Parking is accessible tho there is gravel and grass for stroller not smooth ride. There is things to do for all ages. I love the animals and the train. The price is fair for what's included.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
Siegal's Farm is a fun place to take the kids for some fun. Lots of things to do and the food is good. The employees are helpful and friendly.
google avatar

Rachel Z.

Yelp
One thing after another this was a day gone wrong. Save your money and go to Bengstons! We weren't able to park in the lot due to large crowds so we had to be guided through traffic and children running through the road. Once we got across the street a young man directed us as far as possible in the lot. Then he came by after about 5 minutes of us trying to squeeze in and told us we couldn't back in and had to fix it. We left both lots and parked in Menards. With the one year old in the stroller, we then had to cross a very busy intersection with no crossing guards or police guiding traffic. Very dangerous and very scary moment for us. After FINALLY getting to the doors, the prices were pretty high, 25$ per person to see some animals in dark, dirty cages, garbage all over and a few child activities. We were looking forward to grabbing a bite when we got here and they were out of our choices of food off the already limited menu. This place has really gone downhill over the years and isn't worth the high price. I hope they can turn it around but for next season, a different pumpkin farm will be chosen.

Yelp
Yikes! This place is all around a mess! Arrived at 5:20p to meet family, the gate is locked to enter but clearly states open 10am - 6pm. See an attendant ask why the gates are locked if it isn't 6pm and tell them it is 5:20p. Response "we stop admitting people in at 5:30p, sorry" acknowledges the time is 5:20p but only response is "sorry!". Had a family member tell us that they purchased the Chili Mack and it cost $9 dollars for a 8oz which was served cold and a fountain drink was $3 dollars. The wanted it noted to be weary of food preparation as after purchasing seen utensils for serving food dipped in possibly water solution but didn't see any rinsing and used again. The staff are an interesting mix of kind, have no idea what is going on and just rude. The farm itself is beautiful, a lot of entertainment for all ages! Animals appear to be well cared for which is always a concern for me.

Yelp
Safe and fun. Not as crowded as I anticipated. Staff was super nice. Fun times. However, the food places need extra staff or more locations. The food lines were WAY too long. The zip line and pillow jump were the favorites of the day! My kids are 10 & 11! Pony rides are $6 extra. Horse rides are $8 extra. Camel rides also cost money. The climbing wall is $3. Paintball practice is $5 or more. There is also the zombie paintball which is like $20.95! Extra. Most everything else is included in admission. Free parking too. There is a great Haunted barn. It's free. Tons of fun themed photo areas. Pumpkins everywhere. You can take some great Fall Family Photos here for sure.

Cheryl D.

Yelp
my family went to Siegel farm this October. We had the best time. I recommend it for all families. The staff there were so kind and nice and polite. You don't see that at establishments any more. The prices were reasonable, and there was so much to do there for all ages. Next year consider taking your family there, I know we'll go back.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
I have been going for 4 years now. I will get emails every year for a Coupon deal, and I did not get an email this year. So, I am not going to pay almost $40 admission fee. The Manager lack of response or not communicative on the discount that was offered. She could of help out with something on it. I was brushed off. But I got other emails from them but not the discounts. I will not be going to Siegel's; I will be going to another Pumkin patch where I can a pay a decent price.

Erin S.

Yelp
There are not enough words to express how wonderful Kaity was to work with. The barn is absolutely breathtaking. I loved how accommodating she was with absolutely everything. Having our happily ever after at the barn was truly a magical experience, do not think twice about booking , you will not regret it!!!!!!

Ryan L.

Yelp
Great place that has a lot to offer! We've gone the past 3 years and it's the best pumpkin farm for fall activities. The corn maze is always fun and they change the design each year which is really cool. They have a large one which you know is legit because they give you a map and have signs with questions scattered throughout the maze to guide you. There's also another smaller one for kids but it's actually little bit larger and more of a challenge that other farm's main mazes. Literally 90% of the activities are free which is nice so you can do whatever you want. The giant slide is lots of fun too! Food is pretty good. They take it to the next level with some options (Mac and cheese burger or beat with onions and peppers). Some places have average food but here they have lot of variety and worth the money. Always fun to go every year and we will keep going!

Yelp
I was very hesitant to go to a Pumpkin Farm in these crazy times, however I'm SO glad I did. Siegel's did a amazing job making sure all patrons were wearing a mask except when eating or drinking. I felt super safe with my kids while out there. They had tons to offer the kids for a great price. I even purchased the bounce back tickets for us to return before the season in over. I can't wait to come back again! For the price this is the way to go - $16 and almost everything is included. You can easily spend a whole day here.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Sure, there's a corn maze and all kinds of fun kids' stuff, but who cares--check out all the great food offerings here! Apple cider doughnuts, caramel apples, and other autumnal treats; plenty of carnival/amusement-park-type food out on the grounds; and country-ish goodies in the barn shop, such as homemade fudge (delicious), apple and pumpkin butters, and pickled everything. I got a jar each of gherkins and baby corn. Flavored honey sticks? Popcorn balls? Ghoulish Halloween candy? Hell yes! Oh, and the corn maze was fun. Make sure to get a map, so that you're not just aimlessly tromping around the cornfield like we were. My favorite thing about the afternoon was the badass Frankenstein/skeleton hybrid plastic cup in which they serve the root-beer floats (see photo). Now that is a souvenir that I will cherish for many Halloweens to come.

Yelp
Wish we could give NO stars. Waaaaay overpriced, only to be gouged at the (mediocre) concessions- "affordable family fun" my a--!! $25.00 for a 3 y.o.??!!! As in a kid that mostly sits in a stroller...for shame! So many bees you could not sit still without looking like a bee keeper...bring your Epi-pen if your kids could be allergic. Our 7 y.o. got stung in the 1st 15 minutes! Management a bunch of a-holes. We spent over $400 for family (kids and grandparents) on overpriced tickets and concessions, and we were allowed only an ounce of hand sanitizer for 8 people! The B, Amber, at the window was like (snotty voice implied), "Sorry, only one per family..." (Lady, tickets alone were over $200...and there is NO hand sanitizer in the entire park where animal petting (and kissing!!) is encouraged!) WTF?! They give the impression of a broke-ass floundering business on a sinking ship, with NO CLUE how to treat guests. Go to Keller's- we told someone that a couple of the Port-a-potties were out of t.p., and they gave us all free water bottles and kettle corn! We didn't even ask for anything (besides toilet paper). Now, that's customer service! Animals were in very small, dark enclosures with no way to move around or get exercise all day...it was very depressing. Place looks desperate and run down- we were, by far, the biggest group- it was all but dead for a weekend... Hate to see a family farm fail, but these guys need to stick to the fields, and stay away from the public...horrible at running a business...

K S.

Yelp
could've been better... went with my husband our friend and her child on a weekday.... save your money.. there was very little attractions open, including the food stands.. everything else was closed and stated weekend only.. for the 30$ they charge, plus having to pay for all your food / snack.... it wasn't worth it.. wish we had been warned before driving the distance. So for a good time, make sure You: - go on a weekend - be prepared to spend money - low expectations

J M.

Yelp
My daughter worked there 1 day, 8.5 hours. She was given a 20 minute lunch break. When she asked to go to the bathroom, they complained. She was outside all day, when she asked to refill her water bottle, they complained. At the end of her first day, she sent a message saying she quit. 30 minutes later they called to say they didn't need her services anymore. I guess I am old fashioned and thought a family (especially one that pro ports Christian values) would conduct themselves with the utmost highest standards for employment and consideration for their staff. It is clear they only care about money. I will have to see how the law was broken with their lack of breaks for staff.

Michelle K.

Yelp
This place is a mess. Please don't waste your money. Unless you want to be hounded down and harassed by bratty teenagers than go somewhere else! Waaaaay overpriced and horrible experience. I observed several families, including mine, get disrespected by the children they have working there. The mangers and security allow them argue with people and treat people horribly for no good reason. I was honestly embarrassed for them and the way they talk to paying customers. We were in the bubble area and we watched as the 2 girls working there rudely confront and threaten to kick people out and I honestly couldn't see anyone doing one thing wrong. I was astonished as I am standing talking to my husband about what was happening the 2 girls came right up to me during my personal conversation and asked me if I had an issue. I have never experienced anything like this, and I've been around a while. They were standing by us taunting us as we were watching our children play. Meanwhile ignoring their actual duties in the area. Then as we were leaving, on our own, the girls were taunting me again saying "oh look she said she wasn't leaving but look who's leaving now" as if they actually had me kicked out lol I was leaving on my own and they just had to keep it going. THEN we go to an entire different area (zip line) and I can hear one of the girls talking about me and my family to other people visiting the farm. She was was staring me down from afar gifting me dirty looks, waving her hands around and clearly talking about me! Unacceptable behavior In my opinion. I felt like I was in high school being bullied. I've been to this place many, many times and every year my Girl Scout troop visits...not any more! I'll save my $25 a person and visit somewhere where they have actual friendly staff and enjoyable experiences. I will say though that Tina really did a great job smoothing things over. Tina claimed she was going to have a talk with the girls about their unacceptable behavior but I highly doubt that will happen. They seemed pretty comfortable acting like that, so I have a feeling it wasn't the first time that has happened and probably won't be the last! I would be horrified if I found out one of my children acted this way. Pretty embarrassing establishment if you ask me, but there are plenty of other pumpkin farms in the area where we have had zero problems so no worries! THE ONLY reason I give it one star is because I was forced to to be able leave this review. If I were able, I would give it negative stars.

Karen K.

Yelp
We came here this year for our family trip to the pumpkin farm. The tickets were much more reasonable online. It was layed out nice and we were able to get some pretty good family pics. I think it is better for younger children but we did not get to do the adult maze which is one of the big draws because it was closed during the week. A lot of the food stands were closed during the week as well. We did get to try the apple cider donuts however they were not given to us warm and the lady said when handing to us be careful they may be hot so I was a little disappointed they were not but they were still good. There were some games for kids, a mini zip line, jumping pillows, a corn area where the kids play in corn and lots of play areas. Also a very big slide. There is not the amount of pumpkins laying around in piles as some of the other pumpkin farms in the area.
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
If you are hoping to be outdoors with social distancing, masks and precautions this is NOT the place for you. Masks ARE NOT REQUIRED!!! At least 50% of workers and guests are not wearing masks and 100% of all patrons are not socially distancing. All attractions are open where people are crowded into lines to get a drink. I am so incredibly disappointed that we left, waste of time, money and my kids are so sad. This is a COVID breeding ground.

Yelp
My family has been to Siegel's Cortomwood Farm a few times around Halloween and it's always a good time. Last week we went to the farm for a Mommy and Me Fairy Garden event. The kids had a great time. They each got to choose a container, three small plants and several other accessories/decorations. There were fairy and gnome figurines to choose from. They also offered snacks and drinks. As we left, the kids got a Rice Krispie treat and they were also giving away small plants. We live in Chicago, so Siegel's is about an hour away, but it's worth the drive. The fairy garden event was only $35 and they definitely over-delivered. We all left happy.

Dana M.

Yelp
Way overpriced! Nothing much and special, waisting money and time! Don't like it!!! ........................................
google avatar

Tammie M.

Yelp
Wish I didn't have to give any stars... Purchased LTHS fundraiser coupons sold at the start of football include free VIP upgrade at Siegels / Statesville. How disappointing that we attempted to use it Sat. night only to be told it's not valid, can only be applied on Thursdays. Yet there is no mention of such terms on the coupon and when questioned we were told that the school was not authorized to print this coupon Have since reached out to the school, only to confirm what I already knew; Siegel's not only had to authorize the graphics used but also the text! FYI Owner/managers, they have documentation of all communication regarding your approval and no such mention of "valid Thursday only". Upon speaking with others iin the community, it seems as though this misleading nature is your thing, so greedy!!TERRIBLE marketing and customer service on behalf of Siegals Cottonwood Farm!

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place gets a bad rep. We love it. I take advantage of the heavy discounts when buying online, grandma gets in free with my kiddo during the week - And I wind up paying just under 16 dollars, total(for admission). Nearly everything is included with general admission during the week. Although some things are closed(like most of the food booths). But we do always go during the week. I wouldn't want to step foot in ANY pumpkin patch right now on the weekends. Holy crowds. We spent 3 hours there and practically had to drag my son out. We had a blast on the jumping pillow, in the play yard areas, in the corn bin(can you make it bigger to fit us kids-at-heart adults, Siegels? What an awesome sensory experience), listening to the stories in front of the haunted barn. The staff were friendly and warm. A few ladies were teaching my son how to use toys he spotted in the shop. Great fun was had by us all!
google avatar

Damian P.

Yelp
Totally not impressed. I was really looking forward to a wow factor but quickly it turned into a wa wa wa waaaaaa moment. I took 2 teens and myself with my mom. I did save $2 off each since I downloaded a coupon. But still, I think its so overpriced. I wish I could give a better review since I know it is a really interesting idea of "pumpkin patch and corn maze". They do have a small pet farm, with a gigantic pic, a few Llamas, some pony's and of course GOATS. Many "head butting give me the feed" goats. We proceeded to the hay ride/pumpkin patch, but alas, many of the pumpkins were smashed I guess by the actual tractor and the mud was beyond appealing. Just not sure if this place it is all cracked up to be. I should of listened and gone super far to apple orchard picking because this was really a wasted Saturday. Except that I was able to hang out with my family.
google avatar

Mia L.

Yelp
We love this farm! There are so many activities for little ones. And there are beautiful areas through the farm to take photos! The apple cider donuts are the best I've had so far! Great family-friendly farm!

Yelp
Came here a couple weeks ago for a field trip with my son's preschool. His school had everyone broken up into groups and each group had an employee taking us from place to place. Im assuming other schools do a similar system. As there were other schools there as well (and ours had 5 buses alone) this helped keep the attractions from getting bogged down. The employees were very nice and helpful. They communicated with each other via walkie talkies as they led us around. It's a standard pumpkin patch type place. Tractor ride, corn maze, haunted house (which I haven't been to in over 10 years but I remember it being fun). They had a few different playgrounds for the kids to play on. The barn area where we ate our lunch consisted of long tables with hay bales to sit on. It appeared fairly well maintained. They had what I'm guessing are those ultrasonic rodent repellers in there- I kept hearing it emit a high pitched sound. It may just be my freak hearing that I picked up on it because I didn't notice anyone else looking around. So sensitive ears heads up. Fed some goats, pet a horse and donkey, be careful with the turkeys. One in particular seemed fed up with all the Thanksgiving jokes and was strutting around the pen and grabbed the bill of my son's hat. Hilarious but keep track of fingers and what not. They shuffled us all in for a presentation in a silo from the owner. My son and I didn't stay- he was too antsy. I saw some other parents with younger preschool kids skip it too. They also walked our group through the haunted barn. Opted to sit that out too as my kid was hangry and I didn't know what a haunted barn appropriate for preschoolers would consist of (time out? Dead iPad?). Saved myself a potential headache later that night but i will say our group came out from the other side ok so your mileage may vary. When we left each kid got a pie pumpkin to take home and they were all jazzed about that. There's also a zombie sniper course they advertise I wouldn't mind trying- without my toddler.

Yelp
The Cottonwood Farms is a nice place to get produce, particularly corn, in the summer; they also have an array of jams, corn salsa, pie fillings, apple butter and other "gourmet" goods for sale in the shop. There are also some plants for sale (mums etc.) outside. They also were selling a lot of decorative items for Halloween already; speaking of said holiday, this is the starting point for the Statesville Prison Haunted House. There are assorted activities for kids, including the ubiquitous corn maze to go through, but it doesn't look nearly as complete as the Dollinger Farm that my mom and I went out to once about half an hour from here. Overall, we've always gotten good produce here, and the staff is nice. Would be a fun place to take visitors with kids when in this neck of the woods.

Yelp
Came out here to get a Christmas tree- found a beautiful tree, grabbed a fresh (still warm!) pie, and they helped us get everything loaded & ready to take home. Heartily recommend!!!

Bought 8 Adult tickets and 6 children tickets for Sunday October 24th. Family lives an hour away. It poured (rained) all day Siegels will not refund our money. We pod a lot of money because it is very expensive. Never visit this place. Should have warned my family because you did this to our school for a field trip. School went on strike and you would not refund the children's money.

Yelp
Over-priced tourist trap! $15 just to get in, $10 for a soft drink, $5 for the trampoline, just about EVERYTHING is extra! What exactly are you paying for? NO CLUE. A "grain train" ride? Great. If you're not 5 yrs old, you'll be bored out of your skull, hungry, and bored. Did I mention that there was nothing to do and you'll be bored? Good. Don't waste your money, Johannsen farm is so much better! **** Sorry Kaidy, but the tire pile? You mean a few big tires buried in sand? Nope. Or the corn silo, a silo of dried corn for kids under 10? Uh uh. Corn maze? Boring. You can't justify such sad "attractions". They are just low brow trailer park rubbish. Even if someone gave me free tix, I'd say no thank you. It's amazing that you have "1000's of satisfied customers" because there are A LOT of bad reviews due to the same issues I had. Maybe those "satisfied customers" have never returned. Or maybe they enjoy crap "attractions" for $15 a person. Or MAYBE they don't review you on Yelp. We live in a world where a pile of tires doesn't cut it as an attraction. You can get the same things, and BETTER, from a local park. Which doesn't charge me $15 to walk in.

Yelp
Wish I could give zero stars. I have an autistic daughter so we signed up for their special needs day. They could not find our name on the list so they said we only would be allowed in under general admission. We had no problem paying the fee but that was not the point. My daughter has sensory issues and can not last very long in certain situations hence why we signed up for the special needs day. I am sick to my stomach of how we were treated. If you look at my daughter you would not be able to tell she is autistic. Not sure if that had anything to do with thier decision but it definitely should not. I would not recommend this farm to anyone. Now I have to try to explain to my 5 year old autistic daughter why we are not going to the pumpkin farm that we planned on going to for over a week. She is in tears. To make matters worse they have deleted my comments on Facebook and Instagram. They have also made their post private so you can only share and not comment or react to the post. Please spare me your sad attempt at an apology. It was my choice not to attend due to your customer service. If you truly cared, you would have made it right. Not sure if it the error in the registration process was on our end or yours but that truly should not matter. Once again it was not about the money. I would have gladly paid but I chose not to give my money to you because of the way we were treated. The only reason you are replying is trying to save face.

Yelp
We've been coming here for a decade during Halloween (LOVE it) but this is the first year we visited for a tree. I was tired of the bad selection and lack of service at big box home improvement stores. Siegels has such a great selection of trees I can't decide. All straight and full!!! Also the service is much much much better, I was greeted as soon as we walked in! AND..they had a fire going outside, hot apple cider and the store was open with fresh baked pies (our tree assistant recommended apple walnut which was excellent!) this is exactly the Christmas tree experience I want my kids to remember..NOT cutting off nets ourselves in a dark cold & wet outdoor garden dept in a massive home improvement center.

Yelp
If you're going to invest $15 per person read this review first. Start with checking websites- we found a two for one deal on a local page. Get there early so you can park in their lot. The overflow is across a 4 lane road in Menard's parking lot. Be aware that the parking lot people are just as rude and obnoxious as others have described in reviews. I wouldn't have believed it but my personal experience was the same. We got there and parked next to a row of cars. The lots are gravel and not marked. We were waiting for another car that had some of our party. An older lady started directing cars to park at angle. She approached my car and said I had to re park. She said the employees parked wrong and the farmer insists the cars should be at an angle. Who the f cares? Power trip? The lines to get in are clearly marked but move slow. Another power trip employee was very concerned that the line was "parallel to the building". I guess it was her job to constantly move the cones and annoy everyone. Not a great first impression. I wondered if maybe her energy was better placed at getting people inside? Bring snacks, water and food with you. The popcorn bucket was $4.99. We had 3 kids with us that were under 10 years old. Anyone over this age would be bored. The zip line was lame and would be about the only thing over 10 would like. The corn maze was not an option because it was so muddy. The bouncing trampoline was included this day but was a paid option on the website. The climbing wall was small and not worth the extra money. There were lots of photo opportunities. Little kids will appreciate the cut outs. The most fun I had was watching a semi truck from Goebbert's pumpkin patch deliver skids of pumpkins. A pumpkin patch that doesn't grow their own pumpkins? Overall it was probably worth the half price deal. We had some great memories and I will remember not to come back to this fake pumpkin patch.

Yelp
Went yesterday and had a great time with our three year old. Plenty of things to do. I like how the layout is spread out so you're not bumping into everyone when it's busy. My son had a great time on the air blobs, (I did too!) the sports area, train ride, and the multiple playground areas. I had a lot of fun on the big slide. The attention to detail at this place was great, it shows how much the owners love what they do. Example: the hand sanitizer at the goat feeding area was labeled as goat slobber remover. LOL We bought some snacks and they were not the greatest, but I didn't go for the food. I feel like you get a lot for the money. Great value We bought bounce back passes to come back another day this season. This will be our yearly place to go at Halloween from now on.

Yelp
Very pintoresque farm and park. Great fall photo opportunities. When ordering tickets at the counter we were told the rain/flooding had caused the corn maze to flood and they closed it so our tickets would be half off. My toddler enjoyed the train ride. I normally don't eat a lot of donuts but the freshly made apple cider donuts were soft and delicious.

Yelp
Ridiculous! 12 dollars to get in on a weekday. Fine, but when their website has you do a survey for 5 dollars off then malfunctions AFTER the survey, they will not value the completion of the survey screen to give you five dollars off, because, "their website is down". This is what I was told at the counter while showing proof that I did do the survey and was trying to buy the tickets online in front of the girl at the ticket booth. DEFINITELY taking the drive to a much better pumpkin farm (which 90% do not charge to just go into anyways!)

Yelp
Horrible. The tickets are overpriced because everything inside has a separate charge. I asked if this place was age appropriate for my kids I was told yes. My kids ended up having a horrible time.

Yelp
I have lived in the Plainfield area all my life and have gone to Cottonwood Farms many years with my oldest son (who is now 24). I used to like the family farm friendly feel it had many years ago. It has definitely lost that. The only way to get discounts on the tickets for general admission is to purchase them online (but they charge a $2 fee for that). So your general admission for the weekend has gone from $14.95 to $16.95. So they then throw a "25%" off discount at you but what's the point when half of that discount is going to the "fees." So that in itself is a ripoff. The lines are horrible to get in and they only have 2 windows open. The 3rd window is for no waiting (the ones that paid online don't have to wait in line). Make sure to print your tickets cause for whatever reason they can't scan the bar code on your phones. So then we purchase zombie paintball tickets but of course the 25% off doesn't include the zombie paintball-that's only for general admission. So that's another $14.95 a person. We waited in line for over an hour for this just to get on a 15 min ride. These trucks will hold 24 people but they only have the zombies on one side so they can only do 12 at a time. Absolutely ridiculous. Makes no sense at all. The guys they have working it are cocky. AND they don't even fill up the hopper to capacity. But halfway through the ride, they want to sell you another refill for $5. Another ripoff. But at least the refill completely filled the hopper. So we are on our way out and my boys ask me if they can take an ear of corn with them as a remembrance of coming here. I say sure-it's one ear of corn. I just spent over $100 here. I didn't think it would be a big deal. As they are taking one ear of corn from the thousands of stalks they have on the property, one of the male employees comes up to them and says (and I'm standing right with them) angrily, "you can't take those. Give them to me" He puts his hand out and my boys give them to him. He takes them and as he walks away shaking his head in disgust, he throws them in the garbage! This was absolutely absurd! As we were walking out, I asked another employee if we could have a couple ears of corn that were laying on the ground and he said, "yes but they are $1 each." That was it for me. I told my boys we were leaving. I am so disgusted. I will never be back. The majority of the employees were decent. But there's always one rotten one out of the bunch and we were lucky enough to run into him. Too bad. I was planning on buying pumpkins from there, but no way now! They won't get another cent from me.

Yelp
I don't often post reviews unless I really like a place or if my experience was beyond deplorable. I hate that I feeling compelled to write this review still, but I feel others must be warned. It's so incredibly laughable that their motto is "Affordable Fun On The Farm". I have never felt more ripped of by a place in my life. We went online to purchase our tickets before arriving last Saturday. We had heard about the zombie paintball and wanted to try that out. The website gives you the option to select General Admission only for $15, Paintball Ride only for $15 or Admission & Paintball for $30. We only had interest in going for the zombie paintball so we just purchased those tickets and showed up ready to have some fun. We were told when we got to the counter that we needed to have a general admission ticket as well, because you need to walk through that area to get to the Paintball. Why on earth would you have an option to select Paintball tickets only, if there is no way to utilize those tickets without paying for General Admission as well? There is no where on the website that states you must have a general admission ticket to do the zombie paintball, but there is a nice section that lists that there are no refunds after purchase. This place practices deceptive pricing and it seems they are too dumb to realize this is what they are doing. The woman at the ticket counter could not grasp how nonsensical it is to have a zombie paintball only ticket available if you cannot utilize that ticket without a general admission ticket as well. She said this has never come up, which the yelp page begs me to differ. I am assuming they were just playing dumb. The funniest part of it all is that almost everything inside is at an additional fee outside of the free cost of being incredibly depressed by their animal enclosures. Seriously, this place needs to be shut down for that aspect alone. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else besides this place, for your fun fall outing.
