The First MICHELIN Key Hotels: All the Keys in Italy

"A six-bedroom boutique in the Tuscan countryside, this is exactly the kind of tiny, proprietor-driven hotel we highlight for bold design, special experiences, and hyper-personal service — one of the most creative and satisfying accommodations in its size class." - The MICHELIN Guide

10 Key Hotels with 10 Rooms or Less in Italy

"“As a description, of course, Siena House is perfectly accurate. With just two double rooms and two two-bedroom suites, it’s certainly on the scale of a guest house rather than a hotel. Stylistically, it’s certainly distinctive, marrying contemporary Italian design with an impressive collection of modern art. And its location, near Montepulciano in the province of Siena, is a foodie’s paradise and an oenophile’s dream.”" - The MICHELIN Guide

What can be said about a little Heaven in Tuscany?! The Siena House is absolutely that- A little piece of Heaven! The property is gorgeous and so conveniently located in the middle of Tuscany. From here you can drive to any little towns and enjoy the countryside. We stayed in a big room with a tub overlooking the vineyard and the fields of olive trees. The owners of the property, Amanda and Malvin are the most kind, welcoming and generous people we have met! On the first night of our arrival ( around 8pm) they showed us around and invited to their kitchen for a glass of wine that turned into 2 bottles of great white wine, bruschetta ( made of freshly baked bread, tomatoes, garlic and basil from their own garden). That was such an amazing way to great us, to make us feel so welcome and learn a little about each other! |Malvin is an awesome chef! His breakfasts- fresh fruits daily, home made yogurt, eggs from their onsite chickens, freshly baked bread and muffins ( he was generous in sharing the recipe), and home made jams from different fruits filled us up until dinner. The breakfasts were my favorite meal of the day! |We will definitely come back here with kids and friends in the future!|If you are planning a trip to Tuscany, this is the place to stay! It’s a must!

We stayed at Siena House from October 22–31 as a family with two kids, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Melvin and Amanda were the most welcoming hosts — from the moment we arrived, they made us feel completely at home. We were lucky to be the last guests of the season and had the whole house (and all its comforts) to ourselves. Breakfasts were a real highlight: fresh bread baked by Melvin every morning, homemade jams, fruit salad, eggs, cappuccino, and our favorite — his incredible homemade Greek yogurt! He even prepared a special nuts-and-seeds mix for us on request. We also really appreciated all the thoughtful tips for day trips and local restaurants. Communication was perfect from booking to departure, always kind and reliable. Thank you, Melvin and Amanda, for such a memorable stay — we truly loved every moment and can’t recommend Siena House highly enough

I don’t normally leave reviews but this one is so well deserved as we had such a relaxing holiday at Siena House. It’s the perfect level of hospitality: more freedom than a hotel, with the ability to use the guest kitchen and roam over the property without sharing the space with too many other people, but removes the work of renting your own villa. Malvin and Amanda were wonderful hosts and we so looked forward to seeing what Malvin had whipped up each morning at breakfast. The rooms were spacious, cool and mosquito free, with beautiful bathrooms. The ability to get our laundry done was also very much appreciated. The location was perfect for doing as much or as little as we wanted, and the saltwater pool was ideal. Malvin and Amanda’s exploring and restaurant recommendations were also spot on. We can’t wait to return.

Siena House is one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been. The property is set atop a small hill with idyllic Tuscan views in a serene, private location. This is a true boutique hotel experience, with all the personalized touches you would hope for. The accommodations are top|notch and extremely comfortable. Amanda and Malvin are superb hosts. Amanda dutifully cares for all the animals and the property, while cheerfully communicating with guests. Malvin creates spectacular homemade breakfasts and ambience. A special treat that was unexpected - I have celiac disease, and Malvin baked homemade gluten free bread and pastries in a seperate oven to avoid cross contamination! We spent our days visiting Amanda and Malvin’s many wonderful recommendations, then enjoyed a relaxing sunset by the pool. You cannot go wrong with Siena House. Book now!

We had a wonderful 3 days at Siena House. Malvin and Amanda are very gracious and charming hosts. Malvin made delicious breakfasts (homemade breads, yogurt, jams, bacon) and gave us the best recommendations for restaurants nearby. We had some excellent meals near the property that made the trip a highlight. The farmhouse itself has really lovely views of the Tuscan countryside and the rooms are very comfortable.

Yelp
Our stay at the Siena House in Tuscany was so perfect, it's almost difficult to describe. But I'll do my best... The Grounds The house itself is amazing. It's airy, extremely well decorated, peaceful, and a mix of modern and rustic. The surrounding yard, summer kitchen, garden, terrace, pool, and outdoor furniture is all so tasteful and inviting. The pictures on the website tell a good story, but it's obviously even better in person. The Owners From the very moment we showed up, Malvin & Amanda were so unbelievably welcoming and personable. We felt comfortable right away. All the 5 star reviews and great ratings on TripAdvisor are not a coincidence as we felt like we mattered so much every moment of our 3 night stay. From restaurant recommendations, to being greeted with a bottle of prosecco and even allowed to borrow their GPS for our entire stay, this was hand-holding at it's best. But they also made sure to give us a ton of space so we felt a sense of privacy the entire time. The Breakfasts! Each morning offered a new take on a delicious (and luxurious) breakfast with a very generous amount of food. The fresh, local and seasonal ingredients combined with Malvin's exceptional skills in the kitchen made these breakfasts a huge highlight of the stay. Quite possibly the 3 best breakfast's I've ever eaten in my life. And he took beverage requests and would whip up an espresso, cappuccino or tea to pair in a jiffy (often offering seconds) The Location The location was ideal. The house itself felt very tucked away in the country and was very peaceful. It was also just 5-10 minutes from the A1 freeway so that traveling by car on day trips to further away towns was convenient. Or you could take the country roads to some of the closer Tuscan villages. All in all, we went to around 7 towns in just 3 days and still felt like we spent a good amount of time at the house itself. The X Factor(s) Quite simply, the generous balance of feeling pampered in Tuscan luxury but also having very approachable hosts who made you feel like their home was yours. Plus, having only 4 guest suites in the property keeps things very quiet and allows them to keep offering the personal touches that make the stay so rewarding. Based on the way we were treated, the wonderful food and how beautiful the house and surroundings were, we would never choose any other place, should we go back to Tuscany in the future. 5 stars all the way!
