Sienna at the Thompson

2nd year living at Sienna and I’ve certainly enjoyed my time here. Aside from the prime location, it has a great community of people, everyone is nice, friendly, and fun. I’ve lived on 2 different floors and the neighbors are always welcoming and helpful. Awesome management team, they’re very understanding and try to be as helpful as they can be. Only issues holding is that there a little more maintenance issues than usual, but that’s no fault of management—the building is how it was built, but the maintenance team does their best to come up with solutions—and management makes up for it by providing a safe communal atmosphere, as they always host great events and assigned security. This is my 5th year in Austin, and I can say it’s been the best places I’ve lived so far.

We are absolutely loving our experience here Sienna. Everyone had been so welcoming Especially Alexis Henderson. She went over and beyond showing us different apartment layouts for our second home. We have a beautiful view overlooking the pool and couldn’t be more happy with our decision. All the events that they have are fantastic as well. Not to mention the residents are extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend looking into renting here. It feels like home.

I've lived at Sienna for 3 years. Maggie, Alexis, and Matt in the leasing office are great, and the rest of the staff is always helpful. The gym is second to none, and the team is always making an effort to building programming and community. Great place to live.

Have been here 2.5yrs. Spacious layouts. Good amenities. Walkable location. Studio 3 at the bottom is a huge benefit. Gym is very nice. Shared pool is nice but small / can get crowded since it’s shared with the hotel. Appliances could be better quality for pricing. Elevators can be an issue from time to time. Building management for a high rise is as you’d expect. Aka dead inside and unbending corporate attitudes. They deal with a lot I’m sure, but haven’t had the best experience. And unfortunately the block the building is on is at a higher volume for homeless gathering.

A Wonderful Place to Call Home! Living at The Sienna has been an amazing experience! One of the things we love most is the strong sense of community here. The residents (and their sweet pets!) make this place feel warm and welcoming. The complex itself is peaceful and serene, making it the perfect retreat from the energy of the city. The stunning skyline views are truly breathtaking, and I love that I get to host every holiday here. My family and friends can’t get enough of the 15th-floor patio—it’s the perfect spot for a gathering while still being family-friendly. The amenities are also a huge plus! Arriba Abajo on the fourth floor is such a great restaurant, and having the gym and Studio Three right here makes staying active incredibly convenient. If you’re looking for a place that offers a great community, top-notch amenities, and a beautiful atmosphere, The Sienna is the perfect choice! psa: i’m not a bot i just finally did my review after living here for a year lol

Great property to live at. The leadership team (Maggie and Matt) are very accommodating and knowledgeable. Great location for downtown living. Concierge services are top notch. They are always willing to assist and go above and beyond. Would highly recommend living at the Sienna.

My family and I recently moved to Austin and Sienna has been a major reason why we LOVE this city! Sienna has exceeded our expectations for a high rise living experience. Every staff member, from Leasing to Maintenance to Concierge, has been incredibly professional, courteous, and friendly! The amenities (Gym, Pool, Lounges) have made a big difference and validated why we chose Sienna over other high rises. We are very happy to call Sienna our home!

Moved in about two month ago, for us this is a second home but whenever we walk in the building it feels like we are on vacation. The pool has a great vibe and building is alway spotless, bar and restaurant stage always very friendly and willing to serve. Have enjoyed working with the leasing agents and on board team. Already talking about extending for another year when this lease is up.

Amazing place. I had a wonderful experience with the leasing agent Jackie Lopez. She showed me and my client all the building, all apartments we were interested and she was so great and professional during the touring. I was very impressed with the quality of staff and gorgeous amenities of the place. Totally recommend it to get the best experience in downtown Austin.

I am moving to the area and looked at many buildings in Downtown Austin, all within the same few days. Before being in town, Jordon helped me thoroughly in the process - was extremely clear and understanding of my needs and helped to schedule an in person visit. I changed times last minute and he was super flexible and was able to show me many units that I all loved. He really understood what I was looking for and made the process stress free!! The building is beautiful and looks exactly as displayed online. I looked at many other buildings in the same price range and you can't beat the finishes, floor to ceiling windows and beautifully designed building. Looking forward to moving in!

Although there are some positive aspects to living at the Sienna, such as the responsive and personable local management team, great onsite restaurants, convenient location, and nice amenities like a rooftop pool, resident's lounge, business center, and gym, my overall experience renting an apartment in this building has been negative. I will preface that I had a one month trial period where I could've gotten out at the beginning of my lease, but I had invested too much time and money and was convinced the "worst" was behind me and the building would only get better. It did not. I initially leased sight unseen based on the impressive renderings, amenities, and location. Unfortunately, the actual quality of the finishes, appliances, and overall build did not live up to the marketing materials. While pandemic supply chain issues and labor shortages may have contributed to this, the corporate team confirmed that the actual apartments would not match the renderings. However, as of March 2023, they've started renting the 15th floor as "luxury lofts" that do actually meet the initially marketed renderings, leaving the "OG" residents feeling a little miffed. The build quality, finishes, and appliances feel more like a college dorm than a luxury apartment: * The two-door refrigerators with the freezer on top are barely full-size and have no water filtration system. * The tap water in the building smells like fish. * Electric stoves only, with no gas range options. * Economy stackable washer & dryer combos. * Missing screws in door hinges since day one. * Plastic baseboards instead of wood. * Cheap, easily-dented vinyl wooden plank-like flooring. * Showers with cheap plastic floors and shower heads with no water pressure. * Covered holes in the ceiling where recessed lighting was planned but later scrapped entirely. Most floor plans do not have A/C vents in the bedrooms or bathrooms, only in the main living space. The elevators are constantly breaking down, forcing long waits for residents, and to add to the congestion, the building's cleaning staff, engineers, and maintenance teams also use the resident elevators. The noise level from the bars on 6th Street is unbearable, especially for apartments facing north like mine. The pool is too small for both hotel guests and residents, and it feels like the hotel's needs are prioritized over residents (e.g., closing amenities for private events, reserving the best parking spots for hotel valet, etc.). Overall, I regret renting here, and I feel that the building is overpriced for the quality of what you get. While there are some highlights, the negative aspects far outweigh them, and I would not recommend this building to anyone looking for a luxury apartment.

It's been wonderful working with Zoey Boucher. She has gone above and beyond to help me find the perfect apartment that meets all of my needs. Moving across the country is very stressful, and she has made securing a new home an absolute breeze. Zoey has answered every question I've had in a timely and respectful manner and has been more than helpful in navigating the application and approval process. She is so pleasant to work with and is truly someone who Sienna at the Thompson should be proud to have as an employee. I'm looking so forward to living at Sienna at the Thompson in July!

The leasing office and Managment are meh but there is one person that makes living here worth it: Nick. Best damn door person / concierge ever. Such a solid dude. The views and amenities at the apartment are nice. Very nice even but management is clearly overworked and underpaid. Otherwise they would probably treat residents less like a number and more like people.

Great building, professional staff, super new and modern. It can be annoying to share amenities with the hotel because you can't bring outside food or drinks to the pool (part of Wax Myrtles) but I think having that in the building outweighs that. Overall I have nothing but good things to say. I'm trying to stay here for a couple years so fingers crossed they don't raise my rent like crazy next year! UPDATED 12/1 - 7 MONTHS INTO LEASE: This is still a great building; almost everything in my first review (written 1 month into my lease) still applies. However, there have been several issues that renters MUST consider before moving here. 1. Management: This building has multiple companies who operate it, including Sienna Leasing Staff, NFC Concierge Service, Hyatt Maintenance, Hyatt Hotel Staff, and restaurant staff (there are 3: Wax Myrtles, Diner Bar, Grey Market). This is a unique situation due to the nature of the hotel+resident parts of the building. This does not include the plethora of contractors who built the building (which every apartment has). Sienna Leasing Staff is excellent and genuinely cares about residents. Erik is a pleasure to work with, and Leslie Caffey (manager) is always on top of things. Unfortunately, due to the bureaucracy of the multiple companies, the issues I have are rarely able to be fixed by them, and they end up consoling residents rather than being able to get anything done. This is not their fault, but it is indeed bothersome and a significant pain point. 2. Security: The building is located on the same block as a terrible homeless situation in Downtown Austin. There is a group of homeless people, typically 5-10 at any given time, who camp at the corner of 6th and Brazos (entrance to the apartment is on 5th and Brazos). Sometimes they will camp on the benches directly in front of the entry to the building. It can be very bothersome, especially coming home late. A HUGE issue is with the resident doors locking. The front door to the resident lobby will sometimes be unlocked, even at night, apparently due to a glitch in the computer system (what staff told me). They are supposed to lock after 6 pm. However, there have been multiple events where "glitches" leave the doors unlocked. Once, a homeless non-resident walked into the lobby while I was there, and nobody was at the front desk. Sienna's staff addressed this issue, investigating why the computer glitched, but it still concerns me. 3. Elevators: Any high-rise has issues with elevators from time to time; it's not unique to Sienna. However, in my 7 months here, we have averaged a critical incident with the elevators about once a month. When one of the three elevators is not operating, it can create extreme and unreasonable wait times ranging from 5-10 min. Considering the apartments start on the 17th floor, this is a huge concern. TKE, the elevator provider, often comes and fixes them. Leslie is always on top of working with TKE to expedite fixes. However, they still happen. I have no trust this issue will not continue to persist with this property, albeit perhaps less than what I have experienced thus far. 4. Amenities: The resident amenities are great and high-quality. The only downside is the pool. Sienna does not own it; the hotel owns it, which creates issues. Because of this, you cannot bring food or drinks, there is strict guest enforcement, and often it is so crowded with hotel guests it is unusable to residents. 5. Overall apartment quality: The units are nice and sleek; however, like most new apartments, they have been "thrown together" and have many issues that I hope will be ironed out as the building gets older. AC/Heat is difficult to operate; sometimes, internal fans (like your stove fan) can make noise, and overall build quality could be better. Again, this is not an issue unique to Sienna per se, but still a problem nonetheless. TLDR; Great building, great Sienna Leasing Staff, some unique problems with big pain points depending on the leaser

Came to relax at the pool and had the best, most relaxed time. My server Asher, was the absolute best and made the experience here worthwhile!

I was looking at a few different places and decided to go with Sienna Apartments because of the quality service level I received from the beginning. Nic never fails to greet anyone/everyone at the door. His professionalism, attention to detail and responsiveness continue every day.

Quick update on my review post moving in (last review was that the leasing process was awesome): The building is excellent! and everyone from leasing to the concierge to property management has gone above and beyond to make the moving in / settling in process as painless as possible! :)

I absolutely love this building. The amenities are incredible, and you really feel like you live in a hotel. Nick at the front desk is incredible and has gone above and beyond for us many times. We can't image a better experience.

We couldn't be happier with our new apartment! We not only moved into a new place on the 20th floor in February 2022 but we also had our wedding at the Thompson in May 2022 and both experiences were excellent. The entire management team (both resident and hotel side) worked extremely hard to make sure that the move-in process was as smooth as possible and that our wedding went off without a hitch. The gym is one of the nicest I've ever seen in an apartment complex and the finishes / design of the apartments met our expectations of a luxury apartment building. I also can't say enough good things about our wedding experience at the Thompson - everything (from the food, the layout, the finishes, the coordination with the team) exceeded our expectations. While the construction delays were somewhat frustrating, Leslie / Jordon / Erick worked extremely hard to find every possible solution to make the move in easier for us and we really appreciated that! It's also super nice to have 4 in-building dining options (especially when you travel for work as frequently as I do). I would encourage everyone to take a serious look at the Sienna if you are considering a new apartment in the near future!

I love living here. There were a few delays in the opening of this building but the management team has been so helpful. They made sure to have open communication with me the entire time. This is a brand new building and it's amazing. The style is very cool. I like the location and having a couple of restaurants in the building, very convenient. The gym, pool, and indoor dog run are so nice. The other really nice thing is that there are two amazing hotels on-site as well. A great option for family and guests.

I moved in a few months ago and am loving it. Great layout, solid construction, responsive and friendly staff (especially Nick, who always has a good word to say as I head off to work), and great amenities.

I currently live in the building.Love all of the amenities - golf simulator, gym, pool, restaurants etc. Nick and his staff are very friendly and welcoming every time you come into the building and anytime you need assistance with anything! Overall great place to live!

I live here currently. Great views and location! But, facilities and service are flat-out unprofessional. There's something a bit interesting about a company that decides to proceed with renting apartments while construction is still going on. That might be fine except that it severely impacts day-to-day living. Elevators are frequently out of service causing very long delays. I have had several packages get lost in the mail -- or at least I have yet to receive them. Service (such as AT&T) has cut out frequently. The shared facilities with Wax Myrtle (such as the pool) sound really great, except that residents are very much treated as second-class citizens. Don't count on having a place to sit at the pool because all the seats are dedicated for non-residents. They maintain this policy of preventing residents from using these seats despite the fact that they are entirely unutilized by those they are apparently supposed to be available for (hotel guests? Wax Myrtle goers?) There was a roof leak recently as well that impacted many apartments on the top several floors. Their solution was to mandate the use of loud blower equipment to dry out the in-wall moisture. Do they offer any service or discount off rent? No. Their solution was to offer a discount rate (*not* free) at the Thompson. You're better off elsewhere. This is a poorly-run company in a great location with nice views that feels entitled to charge for amenities it merely teases you with.
