What a find this was! Really friendly place run by excellent staff with value for room and food that was unbelievable.||About 50km south west of Salamanca and set 3000ft up in the hills of the sierra. We chose this hotel as it takes dogs, on our trip back to Blighty from southern Spain. We spent two nights there and the walks around the area will certainly make us come back.||The room was a large room but we understand, not their biggest and the decoration made it feel very Spanish.||The big plus though was the restaurant. They do just two prices, a three course menu for 24 euros and a tasting menu for 31 euros. We like our food but were not expecting a lot at these prices. How wrong we were! Our first night was Valentines night, the restaurant was full, seemingly mainly locals. We chose the tasting menu and the food was excellent, including extras that weren't on the 9 course menu. The following day we had a late lunch, again coming with extras and again excellent. One other thing about the food is that all is cooked well, either the meats or the fish, the chefs certainly know what they are doing. How they do it at the price we have no idea. I can only imagine that as it is so off the beaten track, it caters mainly for locals and Spanish in the know and that fact keeps the prices low.||||I can only advise people to try this place before it gets more well known and the prices go up or the quality down. A bit of a detour if, like us, going up or down the country but really well worth it.||The area is also full of interest with various sculpture walks and lots of history....the staff have lots of leaflets.||The only thing that let the hotel down slightly is that they seem to have a problem with hot water supply, either running out or not quite hot enough. I haven't felt that was enough to mark it down, as overall, the value was amazing, but it's worth noting. We didn't tell the staff as only one could speak any English and our Spanish was not up to it. And it certainly won't stop us going back!||||Should also note that it seems to be good for families as it has a play area and some animals for the kids.||Room tip would be that if you are a light sleeper, the front is well lit at night and the curtains are very thin. Didn't bother us but if you like a dark room, ask for one at the back.
