Sierra Resort Hotel Hakuba

We stayed here from February 2 to February 6 and had a very pleasant experience. The room was spacious and comfortably accommodated four people. The room also featured an outdoor bath on the balcony, which may be appealing for guests who enjoy private soaking. The hotel itself was beautiful, and the public bath was excellent. The complimentary milk and ice cream after bathing were a nice touch. The restaurant staff were professional and attentive. Dinner, in particular, offered a lovely French-style ambiance. At certain hours, the hotel provided curry rice, oden, and ochazuke. The lounge also offered complimentary drinks, including alcohol, as well as coffee, tea, and snacks. Overall, everything about our stay was enjoyable. Renting ski equipment directly from the hotel was very convenient. While the prices were not inexpensive, the service and hospitality made the experience worthwhile. The only minor inconvenience was that the shuttle bus to Tsugaike Ski Resort did not run very frequently, so some planning was required. We would recommend this hotel.

The facilities were what stood out at this hotel, from the complimentary red bean soup and crackers post-ski, to the beautiful public and private onsen with free ice pop and coffee milk, to the ping-pong table that our boys enjoyed in the evening. We booked the evening meals package with Ctrip which made it very convenient to have dinner in the hotel. The food was delicious although there was too much of it and it took 90mn to complete the course. I wish there was a casual Japanese restaurant onsite. The two bedroom junior suite gave a lot of extra space and privacy 👍🏻. What we found strange was that our room was ready by 1:30pm and our luggages were in but we weren’t allowed in until 3pm. Please make a conscious effort not to loose the hotel key card as they charge ¥3,000 for a lost keycard. That last note put a dim on our otherwise great stay.

This is our fourth family stayed at Hotel Sierra and it has once again proven to be a wonderful hotel. From the people who run it (a big thank you to Seiko and Mayu) to the delicious breakfasts, traditional onsen and complimentary wine and snacks throughout the day, it is hard not to unwind and relax. So thank you to all the staff that made our trip so memorable.||Only down side is that it is out of town and the hotel shuttle bus only drops you off at a limited number of stops in town, which makes restaurant reservations at night a little tricky, if you want to limit taxi costs.

Very pleased with the spacious bedroom that comfortable for 3 of us. Room very clean and has beatiful view. We opted for full board with breakfast and dinner, while the hotel also provided free flow food (rice, curry, raw egg, miso soup and oden) in the afternoon. Perfect! The free flow wines and sake was also won our heart. Though the ski resort was a distance and we had to book shuttle bus in advance, the pleasant stay with private onsen has made up for the location.

The best hotel in Hakuba, and one of my favorite onsens. The outdoor onsen has a beautiful view of the mountains. There are tons of amenities across the hotel: ice cream and coffee milk at the onsen, free wine and sake in the lounge, and popcorn and snacks for the kids. There’s also a nice area to play in the snow between the hotel’s wings. The free green curry lunch is great, too. The rooms are spacious, clean, and nicely modernized. The restaurant is excellent for both breakfast and dinner.

I didn’t stay here, but rather came for the Onsen. ♨️The hot spring was spacious and comforting. There were three tubs; one large square tub inside, a wooden tub outside, and a circular stone tub outside (which was closed) The waiting room outside had coffee milk, water, and various types of ice cream. I would recommend coming to the Onsen even if you aren’t planning to stay here. The facility was clean and the hotel lobby was nice, cozy and well thought out. Ambiance: 10/10

Everything in this onsen hotel is perfect for me. A warm welcoming hotel staffs from check in to check out. Our Junior Suite room is really nice.The private onsen and public onsen, i love it! The restaurant has elegant ambience ,so relaxing, also the staffs in restaurant are attentive and knowledgeable about the menu.It was delicious we had the upgrade French food. We enjoyed the birthday dinner of my husband. The quiet hotel surroundings ,the dynamic picture of snowy northern Alps and Alpine species on the corridor wall in the 3F is so beautiful. It gets your attention. There are variety of welcome drinks, food and snacks when you check in , but we didn’t get any for we just finished our lunch at Omachi.It’s friendly service of hotel. They have a fridge full of coffee and milk and assorted ice cream after you’ve done onsen, it’s really good service too. The hotel facilities are clean and really relaxing.I really love this hotel onsen. The 1st ever hotel onsen we stayed without other hotel onsen or any building nearby. And i love this ! Definitely we will be back again.

Wifi at night seems to be very slow and unsteady. However, food was very good, service was excellent, and staff were very polite and friendly. I would definitely come back to this hotel again. Lots and lots of snow to play with after a snow blizzard. Access the hotel by car or by their shuttle bus from the JR station. The onsen is big and clean. They have private and public onsens. They serve free ice creams at the public onsens which were delicious. The hotel was spacious. Just not sure why when we book the hotel we could not opt out for dinner. But nonthless the food was quite good but a bit pricy though. Different menus each day for dinner.

Oh man... I cannot ask for more. Their taste in everything(interior, exterior, masonry, gardening, dinnerware and food) is beyond perfect. I thought I had to go to abroad to have such "Villa" type experience(e.g Da Nang, Bali, etc). I can't say that this is as exotic as them but it does plenty of job. Also it was so therapeutic that I was able to rinse off all the stress I got from the urban life. It was such a great reset! We stayed in "Grand Double" room(36 sqm). Having so used to tiny Japanese hotel, it felt so spacious. The bed was so comfortable that I slept like a baby. They have large onsen with gorgeous masonry. Even I'm not an onsen enthusiast, it was so relaxing that I kept going back. I dipped in 3 times a day! It's got great vantage point to view the snowy mountain. The meals were top notch. It had French as its base and all presentation were so artsy. Both night were course menu. It came in order of appetizer, soup, fish, meat, dessert. And what I loved about this place the most is all you can eat green curry outside of meal hours. I gained so much weight after this trip unfortunately. But no regret because it was so good! I really would like to come back again for annual retreat.

Ah, Sierra Resort Hakuba!!! Awesome resort! So many levels of excellence. How shall I divide it up? Location: Hakuba is a beautiful area, snuggled in the Japanese Alps. The resort is surrounded by ski slopes and they offer on site rentals at a significantly lower price. The shuttles will take you to a variety of slopes for 500¥ per person. Ambience: The Resort is surrounded by water and pines. On a snowy day, the snow filled pines and mounds of snow truly paint a majestic winter landscape. And there are plenty of views from your room, dining, and the lounge. The view was a winter wonderland. Amenities: Complimentary wine in the lounge and at breakfast. Snacks are situated throughout the resort and rice, miso, and green curry are offered on the outside deck. Now note: when I say complimentary wine, I do mean free flow pour as you go wine. Score! Dining: yum!!!! Fine dining French set course is an option (reservation required). The Japanese (more casual) restaurant is also very delicious. Breakfast was also very good: nice selection and quite tasty (buffet). Lodging: we had a Junior suite which would sleep up to five. We had a bedroom, living room with additional beds, toilet room and shower/jacuzzi. The room also had an attached porch. Room included fridge and fireplace. Now my favorite: private onsen! There is a signup sheet in the lobby and you can pick one 45 minute reservation per day for the onsen options. We tried both outdoor ones. I really can't explain the magic of soaking in hot springs, outdoors while snow falls from the sky. It was an indescribable experience. Everything was perfect at Sierra Resort and I will be back each winter!
