Bar Siesta Brings Spanish Tapas and Tinned Fish to Silver Lake This Month - Eater LA

"Siesta Co.'s Lucia Flors and Carlos Leiva will partner with Botanica co-founder Heather Sperling to open Bar Siesta inside the former Alimento space in Silver Lake later this month. The new restaurant will serve Spanish conservas, bocadillos, and snacks by day and then wine, beer, sherry, vermouth, and farmers market-driven tapas by night. Chef Keith Phillips will oversee the seasonal tapas menu, and the beverage menu will feature 100 percent Spanish producers." - Matthew Kang

Google
I dropped by for Dear Mama LA today. Super tasty food and cafe. It was too early but the ciders looked dope as well love all the names and flavors. I love the vibes will definitely come back!

Google
Let our confusion help you out finding this place. So Google maps lists this place which is actually their office NOT A TASTING ROOM. They do offer sales of all their collection as well as others they distribute here so it's worth stopping by if your looking for a hard to find bottle. Apple maps lists this a bit to the East in the westlake brewery location, which is where the cider is actually brewed. They had one on tap when we visited and didn't clarify very well what the deal was. The pictures of a large open bar space is of that location. Bottom line; the cider is amazing and funky and apparently there will be a tasting room in LA so this will no longer be a thing. In the meantime maybe just stop by a whole foods and grab a bottle (or three)

My husband and I came by here on a Sunday around noon after learning about 101 cider from our local wine shop. Overall wonderful experience sitting at the bar trying different ciders and snacking on their delicious salsa sampler. The interior smells amazing and the design is chic and simple. I would definitely come back for a birthday or possibly host another event here. Loved it

Google
Great spot! Delicious cider. Super friendly staff. Drinks are soo good!

Google
Production facility and tasting room for 101 Cider, who makes eclectic combinations of apples, fruits, and herbs into delicious and colorful concoctions. Various non-alcoholic juices, teas, and (free) sparkling waters are available too. Fun interior that would be more appropriate for warmer weather.

Google
I tried their cactus rosé, and it had an aftertaste of nail polish remover… I’m serious… literally after every sip. Must be that nasty LA tapwater they’re using. Definitely not worth the price.

Google
Excellent spot to grab some cold drinks with friends during the day. Also they carry healthy alcohol here, which a lot of people would never imagine is possible. Definitely would recommend!

I went to a friend of mines birthday party here for Sunday Funday. The bar tender was rude and people were getting into small arguments. Will not be going back!

Yelp
Gotta tell ya, was quite surprised that this was open when I drove by. When I saw it open, I pulled over and went in. Apparently they mainly cater to private parties, but I think they are changing their format around and trying different ideas. Parking is all on the street, but for now it was easy to find a spot. Interestingly enough, there is the cider bar place, siesta day club, but attached inside was Dear Mama LA that served food. I didn't realize this until I walked in and ordered and asked about it. It's an all organic pop up place inside of siesta day spa. I got a cafe de olla and a breakfast sandwich. The coffee is very good! The sandwich, a tad more salty than I prefer, but that is my personal choice. They have a detached grill that they cook on, so I think that is why my order may have taken a bit longer than usual, but that was not a problem. :) The siesta day club part was huge inside. From the outside, it looks small, but when you walk in, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Jose was someone that I briefly talked to behind their cider bar. Extremely friendly person!!! Found out that they make their own hard cider! Everyone there is extreme friendly!!! Service was fantastic! When they get there hours more established, I'll be going there again!

Yelp
My friend celebrated his birthday here. I thought of day bars with clubs, a pool, and being in the heart of LA. This was a unique experience, here's how it went. AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking, it's competing with a park that can be pretty eventful so it can be easy or it can be difficult. Seating: Indoor seating or private cabana set ups for groups. Room for a total of 100 people. Feels: This was interesting. It's not in the heart o the skyscrapers of LA but moreover in the outer end. It's hidden in a factory/storage setup in LA and right across from LA Historic Park. The place makes you feel like you're no longer in Los Angeles. You're welcomed with EDM/Tropical music and a beach/island setup. You have cabanas set up, their surfboards for decor, and colored tile floors. Great place to lounge out and host gatherings. FOOD: Charcoal Froze (Recommend) A good mix of elderberry, orange, and agave. Sweet and pretty subtle. I got a good buzz from this. Cactus Rose Froze (Recommend) This is your selection if you're looking for something tart and sour. I enjoyed the tarty sweetness from the cactus pear and it was well-slushed. The slushy gives it a nice hint of orange. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Garrett was a good dude. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars! I've never really gone to a day bar but this was a cool experience. Reasonable prices (about $6), good selections, and a good vibe. I'm sure my experience would be different if I struggled with parking or it was excessively crowded but this was a cool gem. TIPS: * Great cider selections but they don't serve food, only snacks so if you're planning to fill your stomach, check out the local eateries!

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday. The outdoor had such a tropical vibe that is perfect for hangouts. I'm not big on cider so can't say I love the drinks here but it's a healthier option for alcoholic beverages. Between the gunpowder guava and cactus rose, I preferred the rose. Its really tart so took a couple sips to get used to.

Yelp
There's nothing else like this in LA and we've needed it! Next one needs to be on the beach! This place is epic, a great venue with stellar sips, and Brendan is the consummate host.

Yelp
Great place to relax with friends, amazing health conscious drinks and very spacious vibes perfect place to host a get together. Love their iced cider drink a must go in downtown La

Yelp
OK so LOVED the decor and space! We came for a special event at night, but the day vibe is where it is at (and what they are known for). I am not a huge cider fan so I wish they had a few beer options (like most breweries have a cider or seltzer option) BUT the bartenders were able to give me advice on what ciders I may like. I really LOVED their chips and salsa... great salty chips and two yummy salsas! Also 10/10 of the owners and staff :)

Yelp
I'm a firm believer in day drinking being the true symbol of freedom. Happy hour is when THE MAN wants you to drink. This place is a day club. If you're drinking here, you're free, baby! Soak it in with some deliciously tasty cider and don't let anyone make you feel shame for imbibing some alcoholic refreshment while other people head back to the office. This could be your office. Bring a laptop and some photos of your family to decorate the cabana where you're working. That's what I do. Also, try that frosé. It's like a little beach holiday in a DTLA oasis.

Yelp
4 stars, but rounding it up to 5 because the staff is amazing. Jen and Will were amazing, Josue and Ryan came out and talked to me making me feel at home. Great vibes! Amazing energy. I just wish we can bring food. All they have is chips and salsa. Wish they had more food so I can stay longer, but still such a great spot if you ever want to day drink in LA!

Yelp
Such an amazing hidden jem. If you are looking for bomb cider, look no further. Love the laid back non pretentious atmosphere. Definitely would recommend to all my friends. Check it out for sure next time you are in the area.

Yelp
great place to chill downtown and drink drinks that actually make you feel good. i love this place.

Yelp
Amazing space with some very tasty and interesting ciders. The ciders are in the tradition of ciders from Spain. Different from what I normally drink but great enough to want to go back and try the rest!

Yelp
This is such a great spot! For those of you who don't know, this is the main production facility for 101 Cider House and Pulp Culture. Siesta caters to the day drinker for sure. However, the vibes are also really perfect for working or just hanging out. They serve a wide variety of fermented juice blends made in house, but for those looking for non-alcoholic options they have specialty juices, protein shakes, and house-made sparkling water beverages. I loved sitting in the cabanas outside! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone in the downtown LA area. Good chips and salsa too btw!

Steven G.

Yelp
This is such an awesome indoor/outdoor spot right near the LA Historic Park. Super funky and sour natural ciders and hard-pressed juices in an open-air facility with multiple cabanas for larger groups and a fire pit. It's also right next to Dodger Stadium, so we grabbed some drinks before hopping in a five minute Uber to the game. Plus, the salsa's amazing and they have local cold brew and other drinks if you're not looking to drink.

Jenn W.

Yelp
Prices and the cider are fine. Otherwise the whole place feels awkwardly off trend, very 2015. Dumb trance/EDM/tropical music blasting so loud, it doesn't make sense for a "day bar." (Also, it has strange commercials come on every now and then, it's strange.) Go to Homage Brewing if you are drinking in this neighborhood. Will not be returning.

Cassandra T.

Yelp
Siesta is a magical place! My kiddos and I had the best time sipping, dancing, and chilling. We'll be back soon!

Brad T.

Yelp
Awesome place to spend an afternoon catching up with friends and drinking cider! Great overall vibe and it's hard to say no to the slushy Cactus Rose! Chips and salsa go great with the drinks.

Nikki B.

Yelp
Take a breather from the daily grind at this hidden oasis in downtown LA. Beautiful atmosphere and an amazing menu of healthy alcoholic drinks. Can't wait to go back and try more!
