Several years ago, I started use Siete Grain free totillas because I have very sensitive guts. Ingredient were Cassava flour, water, coconut flour, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, xanthan gum. About two years ago they are stared using avocado oil instead of coconut oil. I can not digest avocado oil and other oils except coconut oil. I recently contacted this company why they changed to avocado oil and this is shocking lying reply I got, stating they never used coconut oil. I used their coconut oil based tortillas for several years and I did not have proof. I just found an old grain free tortillas in the bottom of freezer recently. If they just give the reason, it would been ok with me. It is very expensive for 6 little tortillas for $9.00 just for using cassava flour instead of wheat. The following is the email communication I had with the company.
"Dear Sitefoods company, I have irritable bowel syndrome and I used to eat tortilla and tortilla chips without problem when it was prepared with coconut oil. I had stopped eating these food since using avocado oil because it gives me digestive discomfort and diarrhea. Siete chips with avocado oil goes rancid while chips with coconut oil doesn't go rancid even if stored for long time. I am wondering why your company started using avocado oil?"
"Hola Kyenan,
Thank you so much for reaching out. We are so sorry for the confusion as we have always used avocado oil in our products."
"You did use coconut oil for few years. Sorry I did not saved packaging before. You must be not worked for long time enough to know.
While we use coconut flour, avocado oil has always been our oil of choice since we started in 2014!"
"Hello Kyenan,
I hope I am not upsetting you, but I can promise you we have never used coconut oil as the base oil in our chips. We have always used avocado. I have worked here for six years.
Our first tortillas used Lard, an animal fat, before we made the switch to only using plant-based ingredients. Could you be mistaking us with the brand "the Real Coconut" that no longer exists?
Saludos,
Brandy, Your Siete Customer Delight Familia"
