"I noticed new life at the longstanding El Siete Mares stand in Silver Lake this week: signage is now up for a different mariscos operation called Playita, signaling a reinvention of the familiar seafood corner." - Farley Elliott

Folling crossing the border into Mexico and before heading to our hotel, we needed to get our grub on and so we stopped by Puerto Nuevo to get some lobster and do a little shopping to pass time. This time around we checked out a new restaurant to see how they prepare their lobster and to support more business out there. The staff was friendly, appreciative of us stopping by to dine with them and made sure we did need anything. We kept things short and sweet, ordering an XL lobster each with beans, rice and tortillas on the side. Every bight of the food was delicious. We had a great via being right on the water despite it being overcast. A very family friendly establishment but at the same time you could come here if you were celebrating a special occasion. Definitely another go to spot on future trips.

The service was excellent. They were very fast in taking our order and giving us our drinks and food. The food was delicious. I just got a dozen oysters and a bucket of beer. The oysters were so fresh. They catch them daily. The deck view is amazing. It's so relaxing hearing the waves crash. Mariachi players do come out and play for you, but you have to tip them per song. The restrooms are very tight.

The owner or manager of this restaurant really sold us on this place. He was super friendly and had a great attitude. He guaranteed we'd be more than satisfied with our meal and place did not disappoint! The lobster had great flavor, was very tender and the bacon stuffed shrimp is a must try! Oh my goodness they so flavorful and delicious! The waiter we had was Arturo and he was very friendly.. we had a couple margaritas as well and they were very good. Lastly, I really liked the way the restaurant was decorated. All the art was made of painted rocks designed to make sea animals. I know there's many restaurant choices in this area but I would recommend giving this place a try!

Had a great breakfast and the views are nice from the second deck. Tasty food with generous portions and good service.

Great restaurant 👌 we enjoyed the views, and the food was great! It's a little pricey but worth it. They had the best bacon wrapped shrimp I've ever tasted!!!

Google
This restaurant boasted beautiful ocean view because it's on the ocean front. I was literally told to drive into the building with my sure I thought that was great VIP parking literally up to the front door.. We ordered the biggest lobster they had which was $45 in which I was not able to finish it was that big. the rice and beans are awesome and the flourr tortillas kept coming and were super fresh. Our meal also included a drink in which we opted for a michelada that was really good. We also ordered shrimp's Costa azul which is bacon wrapped shrimp stuft with cheese. Guacamole was great...It was all perfection!

Google
Very good food, tortillas and beans were amazing, Will be coming back here every time I visit Puerto Nuevo.

Yelp
With so many options for fresh lobster. We stumbled upon this place and glad we did. Hostess asked if we wanted outside and decided inside since it was a bit chilly. Mauricio helped us and from the get go was very attentive, made suggestions and overall made the experience awesome. Kudos to him and Mauricio

Yelp
This restaurant had a breath taking view and amazing service. We had already eaten when we came here so we did not get to enjoy their food. I will say they have excellent chips and salsa. Very delicious. I really enjoyed their drinks and loved the party vibe they have going in here . With their excellent live music . I would definitely come back here again next time I'm in Puerto Nuevo .

Yelp
These restaurants can get very aggressive. They obviously want your business, you just have to decide where you want to eat. This place has three levels and with live banda on the top floor. They also offered four lobster tails for $20. We kept walking up the hill and walked into another restaurant where nobody greeted us. So we walked back down and into Siete Mares. Service was great at first, but when it came time to pay, it took a very long time. The four tails for $20 is not on the menu. You have to ask for it. And they call them "baby" tails. We ordered 8 total. It came with the usual sides, beans, rice, butter and salsa with huge freshly made flour tortillas. The lobsters tasted amazing and 8 was more than enough for my party of four. The views are spectacular and the music was great. I've been to two restaurants here now and I would say I enjoyed this one a bit more than my last. So I can definitely see myself returning, but would probably check out a few more places before returning.

Yelp
Visited Siete Mares on 3/22/25 after our original plan to eat at Ortega's fell through (they only accept cash, and the nearest ATM had outrageous fees--over $50!). Luckily, Siete Mares was a solid backup option. The restaurant has three floors, each with a different vibe. The first floor is quiet and relaxed, the second floor is pretty hot with no open windows for fresh air, and the top floor has a norteño band that sounds amazing but is super loud--definitely not the best for conversation. My family chose to sit on the bottom floor, where we enjoyed a nice cool breeze and a great ocean view. There's a small outdoor balcony, but it's only big enough for small groups. I started with a strawberry margarita, which was just okay--not much flavor. Then I tried a michelada with Dos XX beer and a Tajín-rimmed glass, and it was delicious! Definitely the better choice. For food, we had the lobster, stuffed shrimp, breaded shrimp, carne asada quesadilla, and rice with beans. Everything was decent, but nothing really stood out as amazing. What really made the experience enjoyable was the great service! The staff was super attentive and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Overall, it was a good experience, especially with the ocean view. I'd come back to have a michelada and listen to the Norteño band.

Yelp
I've been going to Puerto Nuevo for most of my life. It's definitely changed over the years--not quite as inexpensive as it used to be--but it's still a fun and lively spot to visit. On a recent trip with my family, we decided to try Siete Mares for the first time. If you're just looking to kick back with a few drinks and don't mind a little noise, the third floor has a live band and a fun vibe. It's loud, so not ideal for conversation, but definitely a cool place to hang out. Since I was with my family, we chose to sit on the first floor instead. It was a great choice--nice ocean breeze and a beautiful view. The service was quick and the staff were friendly and attentive. We started with the Queso Fundido with chorizo, and it was a hit. The chorizo had great flavor, and the fresh flour tortillas really brought it all together. I'd absolutely recommend starting your meal with this appetizer. For my entrée, I had the Costa Azul stuffed shrimp. The presentation left a bit to be desired. The salad was soggy and the rice was cold, which was disappointing. The shrimp themselves were tasty--savory and well-seasoned--but only three out of five were cooked perfectly. The other two were a bit undercooked, making the bacon wrap chewy instead of crispy. At $23, I expected a bit more in terms of execution and quality. To drink, I had a Dos XX's Michelada. Nothing fancy--just Tajín on the rim, lemon juice, and ice--but it was refreshing and hit the spot. Overall, Siete Mares was okay, but not memorable enough for a return visit. With so many restaurants to choose from in Puerto Nuevo, I'll probably try a different spot next time. Still, it was a pleasant experience, and the view alone made it worth checking out at least once.

Yelp
It was amazing!!! Excellent service and food. The drinks were delicious. We ordered lobster, octopus and marlin all of it was fresh and delicious. We sat upstairs and had an amazing view with the ocean. with the Check this place out you won't regret it. We will be back.

Leticia V.

Yelp
The service was incredible, staff was great and attentive. They made us feel so welcome. We ordered the 4 pice Lobster and margarita deal which came with rice and beans. I also ordered a clam chowder on the side which was delicious. YOU NEED TO COME HERE! The handmade tortillas and homemade rice and beans were so comforting. The Lobster is locally caught nearby. Don't think about it, just come and enjoy the food overlooking the ocean. I wish I had taken more pictures but i was too busy enjoying it all. Doesn't get better than this!!!

Natasha M.

Yelp
The parking attendant parked us inside the entrance of the restaurant. The staff was helpful and attentive. Ambiance was great. We sat inside since it was a little chilly. The food was tasty and price was reasonable. The flour tortilla was amazing. Made fresh and delicious.

Yelp
Friendly staff! Food was fresh enjoyed the lobster! Relaxing environment! Great location parking was easy. Thank you for having us over for dinner!

Yelp
I was very disappointed with this restaurant. We ordered medium sized lobster and large size lobsters and they gave us all medium size (no large) and we were still charged for the large size cost. The lobsters did not taste fresh. I did not enjoy it. We ordered the cantarito drink and got charged $20 dollars for it which was not top shelf tequila. I think this place took advantage of us being tourists which is very sad bc most of us in the group our hard working Mexican people. This restaurant did have a nice view. The rice, beans and tortillas are okay. I won't be going back to this restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
The Large Sweet lobster was tender, served with a couple jumbo flour tortillas, rice and beans. Service was efficient and ambience was nice.
google avatar

mario S.

Yelp
What you are paying for is the view ocean view. The portion sizes here are extremely small. I ordered the large and what they brought me was 1 medium lobster. Note that for the small you only get one small lobster (2 halves). We ordered a standard a small cantarito without a premium tequila and we were charged $20. The tortillas also tasted reheated and not fresh to order as you would expect from other restaurants. It's just unfortunate they give small portions. If you're looking for a view this is your place. If you're looking for value look elsewhere.

Yelp
We were traveling with our yellow lab, and didn't want to leave him alone at the rental house, and found that Siete Mares allows dogs! Six of us enjoyed the medium lobsters with tortillas, chips and salsa, and beans. My dog Bone also enjoyed the chips and tortillas. The lobsters were fried the typical way in lard, and were very good. We also enjoyed cold beers all around, and the beautiful view from the upper dining terrace. It was a bit chilly and windy, but the plexiglass shielded us from most of the chill. The waiter, extremely friendly and funny, said we could sit inside if we wanted, even with our dog. We opted to stay outside to enjoy the view of the ocean and the fresh air. Five stars for food that is the same pretty much as the Ortegas restaurants, but also for being dog friendly. Will definitely go here again with or without a dog.

Yelp
Wide range of seafood, all very good. They also offer items non seafood for those who prefer other food. Service was GREAT and prices were better than other local places. We will return on our next visit to the area

Yelp
fast svs, great food, view overall i Will return

Yelp
Lots of choices of restaurants in the Lobster Village, but we think 7M is one of the best. Of course we haven't tried ALL the restaurants (there are about 20 at last count) all pretty much next to each other and they all have pretty much the same fare so it boils down to dealer's choice and whether you want or need an ocean view.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
Puerto Nuevo has very good options for quality seafood and siete mares is up there with the best of them. Their customer service is exceptional as from the moment we can came into until we left we never felt a drop in their service. From the lobster to the michelada everything was incredibly fresh and very flavorful. The tacos de Marlin are on another level! Already looking forward to the next visit!

Yelp
NICE VIEW AND CHEAPER LOBSTER "Baja Lobster" is spiny lobster. Lets not get worked up and excited. I see these creatures all the time when diving in California. This place only caught attention because it's not one of the overly popular lobster restaurants. And according to TripAdvisor the lobsters are good. Of course, the goal is to look for those underrated places and bring them up in reviews and word of mouth. 1) Puerto Nuevo, "infamously known" for their Baja lobsters. Here's my take on Puerto Nuevo, small town that caters to tourists yet nobody speaks English. It's the lobster town yet I didn't see anyone catching lobster or seeing fresh lobsters being catered into the restaurants but the "claim" is that all these people are fisherman and they catch the lobsters right there in the water. What I saw in Puerto Nuevo was dust with the dirt roads leading to the shops and restaurants in which you get valet service. And when I mean "valet service" I'm being sarcastic - you have a bunch of random Mexicans approaching your car waving you down to park at their restaurant. It's annoying AF. The Siete Mares parking guy was actually very cool. When approaching the restaurant I pointed at home and said "I want to eat here" and he pointed me to park in their garage. He speaks well English and was very kind. I appreciated his generousity. 2) The restaurant has a waterfront view, two floors, top floor has optional outdoor seating. Restaurant was clean. And it's not packed with people. There were about 2-3 other parties there, all Mexicans - that's a good sign that the food must be good because sometimes I don't trust places when the crowd is all tourists. 3) Service from waitstaff was good. I appreciate that although there was a huge language barrier, we were able to get by with pointing at the menu, and understanding a word or two from each other. Several waiters came to introduce themselves by first name. Very humble and friendly people. 4) Food and drinks was good. First, they bring out fresh tortilla chips with salsa, fresh chopped tomatoes and onions, and a ton of limes. The tortilla chips were kind of greasy, straight from the fryer but too greasy for my liking. Ordered a Pina Colada and the Medium lobster which came with a basket of fresh flour tortilla, bowl of orange rice, bowl of beans, and a platter of the lobster. MEDIUM LOBSTER ($22 as quoted on the menu) - The lobsters are prepared fried. Medium was the right size for someone of my size or someone who wants to eat lobster without over doing it. It's one lobster cut in half. So if the waiter asks you (in Spanish) how many, keep this in mind. The lobster comes with melted butter and I highly recommend putting it to use. Frying the lobster also dries out the succulent in the meat and if you are a slow eater, oxygen by the minute makes the meat even dryer. However, the flavor of Baja lobster itself has a different taste than the lobsters (California and PNW/Alaska). Baja lobsters have way less meat then other lobsters because THEY DON'T HAVE CLAWS. The meat is all in the tail. Spiny lobsters have a subtle sweet taste in their meat but lobster in taste doesn't have a huge distinction from other lobsters - they seem similar. And for the price, $22 is cheaper than the neighboring restaurants but $22 is still kind of pricy for what you get. PINA COLADA (105 pesos as quoted on the menu) - nice to sip on but the liquor pour was weak. Maybe not existant. 5) The bill. For my portion, I was quoted 501 pesos OR $28. 396 pesos for the lobster and 105 pesos (for the drink. 396 pesos to dollars is $20.18, but the menu says $22. So if I calculate 501 pesos to dollars is $25.23... BUT if I take what the menu says $22 + $5.35 = $27.35. So basically, they charged me correctly at $28 dollars (they rounded up), however their own peso calculation on the menu was under. Luckily, they didn't try to rip me off. Conversion app comes in very handy! Next time I come back here I'd like to try their other seafoods. Until the next visit...

Yelp
This place is amazing It does not get the justice it deserves or the attention it deserves people usually go to the bigger restaurants surrounding it and they're missing out on this beautiful little gem it is very clean staff is very friendly and the food is just amazing for such a great price if you're visiting rosarito and have the opportunity to stop by at Puerto Nuevo stop by at this place it's a 10 out of 10

Marie C.

Yelp
Nice view. Beans, tortillas and rice were delicious. The lobster and butter tasted different but was still good. The service was good.
google avatar

Yelp
Garbage food and a rip off they offer you a free margarita or lemonade with an order of their lobster special. Once you get it they charge you for the drinks. I brought it up to their attention and they won't honor their special... BUYER BEWARE. Ángel Del Mar at the other corner is 100 times better and they honor their deals. Lobster where small and extra dry. The ride was burnt and the beams where blah. The flour tortillas were also under cooked and sweet.

Amy G.

Yelp
My family and I love this place! We always get the waiter who goes by the name Abel. He's awesome. The lobster is always so good, rice and beans are always fresh, and tortillas are hand-made!!! The view is also very pretty. Oh! Margaritas are also super yummy.
google avatar

Yelp
We've all heard about Puerto Nuevo aka Lobster City and the importance of a visit whenever you are in Rosarito or Ensenada. Well, we stayed at a B&B through Airbnb and the host was recommended this place. He said it was a new restaurant that just opened and that it was going to be difficult to find because there was no name. So he drew a map for us that directed us straight to this place. I don't know if maybe there wasnt a sign when he came but there is a small sign outside the building. Anyway, we were able to find parking right outside the restaurant. Be careful when you drive into PN, there are guys who will immediately direct you to the $3 parking lots. Don't do it right away unless you absolutely cannot find street parking. This is a two story restaurant, the second floor is an outdoor patio which has a beautiful view but because you are right by the ocean, it does get a little chilly. So we opted for the main floor enclosed dining which still had awesome views of the ocean. First thing we ordered were drinks....of course we all ordered the margaritas. They're only $3 each, or flavored ones for $5. So looking at the menu, there are tons of options. We came here just for the lobsters. On the menu, it says $25 for 3 half lobsters. But our B&B host distinctively told us that they have $16 for 6 lobster halves, which isnt on the menu. So when we asked our waiter about it, he confirmed that it is offered. He also said that with the lobster meal, we get an order of margaritas as well! While we waited for our lobsters, we got baskets of yummy tortilla chips, spicy salsa and pico de gallo. After a short wait, the lobsters came out! You can get them fried or steamed, we unfortunately forgot to ask for steam but the fried was just as good (not battered). the meal also comes with refried beans, rice and tortillas. OMG...the tortillas are absolutely delicious! they're so fresh, soft and probably the best tortillas i have ever had! they are thin, almost crepe like! We walked out with our tummies full and completely satisfied! And the price for it all is LEGIT! The staff there were so friendly, never gave attitude or tried to upsell anything. I love this place!
google avatar

Sheila S.

Yelp
We went to 7 Mares to celebrate my boyfriend birthday and we had a very good experience. The food was delicious, we ordered 2 medium lobsters that come with Mexican rice and refried beans and garlicky butter! Yum! And cocktails of Camarón. Reasonable prices and the service was great. Arturo was our waiter and he was very nice! Mariachis were in and out but it doesn't bother me as I see it as experiencing the Mexican culture. There's also a lady making fresh tortillas at the restaurant. And of course the views are amazing!!!
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
I couldn't wait to get back into the state's to get connection and post about this place. So here's my small list of grievances. Do not ask for a whole fish. It's the smallest fish I've ever eaten. It took the waiter 20 minutes to get my drink after not writing it down the first time. Speaking of which, worst horchata I've ever had. Occasionally some of the outdoors vendors will stop by as much as the house band and it's a pester. Only saving grace this place has is the fresh tortillas. So if you go please tip the lady on the 2nd floor For this being my first trip in Porto Nuevo, I'd rather stick to the old ones
google avatar

Yelp
As always, the food was absolutely wonderful! The perfect amount of grilled lobster, beans, rice, and home made tortillas. The coffee-perfect. The service-exceptional. Jaime really took care of us. He is a very well trained server. No disappointment Here! Five stars.

Yelp
We concluded our weekend getaway at Mexico with some Puerto Nuevo style lobsters. We ended end sharing our 6 halves lobster since we had ceviche prior to coming to this place. The deep fried lobster were so succulent that I can still taste in my mouth right now, haa, haa. Our order came with freshly made flour tortillas, rice and beans. And of course it came with chips and salsa. We had the stunning sunset behind us so I couldn't ask for anything more than this. Oh the strawberry margarita complimented our Puerto Nuevo lobster dinner. After dinner we hung around and enjoy the sunset and took a lot of selfies.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Not a bad place to eat. 16 for 6 lobster tails and includes a margarita. Tortillas and beans are good. Service is good as well. Also if you eat there they will give you a voucher to pay for parking if you used the parking lot.
google avatar

Ingrid M.

Yelp
Every time we come to Mexico, we go to Siete Mares for lobsters. The service at this place is excellent, every time we go there we received outstanding customer service no matter the server. The food is also really good and the price is very reasonable for what we order, we usually order the food tray that comes with 5 pieces of medium lobsters, fish, clams, shrimp, plus sides. We tried other places at Puerto Nuevo and we regretted it.
google avatar

James N.

Yelp
Free WEEFEE!" Wifi! Haha best margaritas in Puerto Nuevo! Tell em Jerky James sent ya!!

Yelp
I had such a wonderful experience! My waiter Arturo was amazing, he made my drink that wasn't on the menu. The lobster was delicious!!!
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
We came to Puerto Nuevo for lobsters and found this classier spot with a view of the ocean. Prices weren't cheap. I paid $28 for a standard Paloma and a medium lobster. It came with handmade flour tortillas, beans, and rice. Sadly, the lobster was not the Puerto Nuevo style, halved and fried. It was halved but not fried. There were also no other people on a Saturday - maybe it was offseason? In any case, service was okay. I would check out another spot that's cheaper ($16 or $17).
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
Place is a dump. We came in sat down ordered our food and waited 45 minutes before they took our order again because the waitress couldn't handle her tables. We walked out and will never go again. We ended up going up the street to El Pescador were we got amazing service and good food.
google avatar

Ludmila A.

Yelp
Great food! $16 each for us four lobster tails. Rice, beans, margaritas and really really good handmade tortillas. The view upstairs was really nice but the day we were there it was gloomy and cold so we took a picture out and then ate inside! The service was really good! The margaritas though you are limited to only lemon, you can't do other flavors. Arturo was super nice and helpful when we moved from outside tables to inside. They have wifi available which is nice!
google avatar

Jennell G.

Yelp
Hands down the best seafood I've ever tasted. Excellent service and excellent food. Need I say more ? Oh yea, Shoutout to Arturo he was the best.

Noam B.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful and friendly service. Amazing ocean view from the balcony. No cheating. We asked for the 16$ lobster deal which was tasty . Will definitely come again.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time celebrating my husbands birthday here!!! The food was pretty good but the environment was fun and lively! Arturo, our server, made the experience amazing!! He was quick and brought my husband a birthday shot! Great day by the ocean!

Yelp
We were headed to La Casa Pescadore per a recommendation from a local but when we were turning the corner the owner of Siete Mares talked us into coming to his restaurant Siete Mares. We were a little hesitant but not disappointed. I had the Camaones al diabla and my husband had the camarones aljo. The meal came with rice beans fresh tortillas and an awesome red sauce and chips. Absolutely delicious. Awesome service by Cello and outstanding food. Met some people from Irvine. They came here just for lunch for the lobster. 2 lobsters for 18 dollars with rice beans fresh totrillas.

R C.

Yelp
Great food, attentive service, memorable view and perfect weather! Had a late lunch on the top floor, food arrived quick and the tortillas were flavorful. We have tried many of the restaurants here in the village and they are all more or less the same, the location of this place and being right over the ocean makes it more memorable.
google avatar

Serge K.

Yelp
Way overrated fishing village. Deep fried old frozen greasy ingredients. Overpriced langosta. Nothing fresh here. Stay away. Waiter was a nice older gentleman that was attentive and works with what his has.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best customer service ever received anywhere from all the restaurants I've gone to. Our server and new friend (Arturo) great guy and very respectful and well mannered. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT !!!

ok food and ok service until we got the check! young waiter came back and said we were short money when he still had to give us back change. i literally remember the dollar bills we gave him and NOT ALL OF THEM were there when he came back to tell us we were short. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!!!!!!! IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO COUNT IN MEXICAN PESOS!!!!!!
