"Siglo Bar is the best stop in the city for soaking up the cool views of the Melbourne cityscape from the late afternoon through the night. The impressive drink list caters to every whim, and there’s a tight snack menu to soak up the booze. Within the same building, you will also find Spring Street Grocer, which offers gelato by the scoop and a mind-blowing cheese selection in the basement cellar." - Audrey Bourget, Sharlee Gibb

Yelp
I'm not so sure why this place only has 3.5 stars. I want to give it 5 stars to bring its average rating up, but it's definitely a 4-star place. They offer some decent snack food to munch on, but it's more of a place to grab some great wine with a great rooftop view of the adjacent park and cathedral (and I guess Fitzroy in the distance?). Food/Drinks: 4/5 Value: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

Yelp
Three words. Perfect Date Location. Everything you want on a date night is given to you at the Siglo Rooftop. Great music, lots of well dressed people, great selections of tapas style food to share, a lovely view of the top end of Melbourne and delicious cocktails. All you need is a cute man or girl and voila = Perfect Date begins. Ok, I guess you don't technically have to be on a date to enjoy Siglo. I'm sure it'd still deliver all its atmospherical goodness to any person in any social situation. Hell, be daring and go on your own! Meet someone new! Do yourself a massive favour and TRY the croque monsieur! AND the polenta chips! You will not be disappointed. Off you go. Enjoy. See a show afterwards. Drink responsibly. Thank me later.

Yelp
Ah, Siglo. You're just like Ricky Martin - you will always have my heart. I have many fond memories of drinking pinot at Siglo whilst overlooking the iconic view of Parliament House and dodging political advisers until the wee hours of the morning. Even to this day, a sense of nostalgia embraces me when I stroll into your space. Thank you for consistently wooing my interstate and overseas visitors. Last visit was a few casual drinks with some work peeps, Tony Abbott and Joe Hocking. OK, they weren't sitting with us - but they were within a couple of metres. Even to this day, you're still a pollie hangout and for that I applaud you. If there is one thing that makes me wince, it's the cigar smoking on the rooftop, but I understand the Freudian need for it, so I will let it slide as long as you keep the impressive drinks list and sticky date pudding dessert #swoon

Yelp
Enter Siglo on a summers night, especially after 12.00am. I would easily say its between 12.00am - 3.00am on any give night is when its in its prime. This place has the potential to sweep you of your feet. The best thing about this Siglo is undoubtedly the city landscape that presents itself as you walk up and out onto the rooftop terrace. There is definitely a continental feel to the place and every jammed packed patron has a purpose, a story of how the night has unfolded, which make the company and ambience as equally as exciting. It literally is one of Melbourne's hidden little secrets. Cocktails, cigars, snacks accompanied by an extensive wine list is also on offer.

Yelp
Great view during the day, not so good at night and not enough lighting. Very average champagne selection, but great location. Would advise going for afternoon drinks! Staff were also average, not horrible, just not on par with competing eateries.

Yelp
Are you taking someone out on a date? Do you really want to impress them? Are you willing to splash some cash? Come to Siglo. Siglo truly is decadent, with a heated rooftop overlooking Parliament, a wide-range of cigars available and a cocktail list as big as Spring Street (including their world famous Espresso Martini), there is absolutely no way you can go wrong on a date here. Although they don't have a full menu you are able to order party pies and sausage rolls. What's cuter than that? Can't find it? Look for the big door next to the European Supper Club, and head straight upstairs.

Yelp
Rooftop bar might be the best known rooftop in the whole of Melbourne with stunning views across the city. But Siglo is definitely its upmarket equivalent with as equally breathtaking views (overlooking Parliament House and St Patrick's cathedral). This is quite a dressy place in my experience and with plenty of Champagne, cocktails, fine wines and cigars on offer, it's a pimp's wet dream. As you'd imagine with the views, it gets pretty busy and you might have to wait a little bit to be let in as capacity is limited. For a special occasion or if you need to impress, then this is the place to come. Be prepared to spend a chunk of money here.

Yelp
This place is dead sexy. Stunning view, great wine, great music, cigars if that's your jam, beautiful place w intimate vibes

Yelp
Cute and very happening roof top bar. Drinks were ok and service was nice. They no longer serve food on the roof so that was a let down. Cute place to grab drinks after work.

David S.

Yelp
Awesome place! + Very nice venue inc. a rooftop + Cigars! + Beautiful view No real minus. Go here!

Yelp
Ahhh Siglo, you scoundrel. It seems we always cross paths in the wee hours of the morning, an evening of dining and drink over and your extensive wine list tempting me to blow more cash then I ought. You are a solid performer and can always be relied upon to impress out of towners, first dates, and old friends. There aren't many views in Melbourne that would beat yours and although service lurches from the divine to the surly, I keep returning because you have a certain charm about you that I just can't resist.

Yelp
5 star location and view, 2 star service. Having read the previous reviews the service issue isn't a new thing so why haven't they addressed it? It suggests to me they know they will fill the space night after night so they don't have to worry about it. Quite arrogant really. We were served fairly quickly but then ignored for the rest of the time. Being my first visit I wasn't sure if we had to pay at the bar or wait for the bill and after sitting with empty glasses for 15 minutes with a number of staff walking past and totally ignoring us we went to the bar to settle up. This seemed to annoy them a little bit nut the way I see it, your wait staff should be on the ball - it's not like it's a massive space. I won't rush to go back but might pop in when I know it won't be quite so busy. I'm also wondering why I hate the smell of cigarette smoke so much, but the scent of cigars was quite nice and suited the space in an odd way!

Yelp
All I had was a glass of wine and the cheese curds, but boy does this place feel beautifully classy! Service was slow but oh so friendly (bonus cute server with a British accent) and this is definitely one of my new favourite rooftop hangouts. It's easy to pretend you're in some far off European City! I'll definitely be heading back for more snacks & drinks, it seems like the perfect spot for a date, fancy business drinks or just somewhere to impress whoever you're with! Absolutely beautiful.

Yelp
Siglo would be the go-to place for anybody who wants to visit a cigar bar. It is located on the top floor of the supper club (it's not an actual club so don't worry if the noise below might disturb the atmosphere) near the Parliament station. The place is a little bit cramped but the dark relaxing ambience and great lounge music compensated for that. They've got a great list of cigars, whiskeys and wine. What I love most about here though is their sticky date pudding. It's their must try dish! I recommend popping by here for a nice catchup with friends or just a chilled boys night out.

Yelp
I've been to Siglo many times. The atmosphere is fantastic, the view is great and the food is delicious. But all of that is of no use if you can't sit down or even stand around waiting for a table. They usually have a host taking names to assign tables, but on several occasions my group has been forgotten and passed over for a table. The process just doesn't work, they're disorganised, there is no decent area to stand and wait for your table, and the staff are stressed at best, rude at worst. There are better places to sit and enjoy a rooftop setting, unless you are certain Siglo will be quiet and you'll be able to find a place to perch yourself.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop wine bar, a must-visit in Melbourne. Great wine list. Perched next to the Princess Theatre, with a brilliant view of Parliament building lit up at night. Lovely, lovely ambiance.

Lauren D.

Yelp
I just love this place, and always get excited about the prospect of visiting. The view alone is worth the trip, but what I love most about Siglo is that it increases my cool factor by at least 27%, kind of like standing near someone really, really, ridiculously good looking. Which is also an option at Siglo, might I add. Nothing is overly cheap here, but it's not a standard bar that you stumble into because it's close by. You go to Siglo by design; when you've finished a great meal and want to keep the night rolling in a classy fashion, or when you just feel like someone addressing you as "Miss [insert surname]" once they have your credit card behind the bar. I'm a sucker for that stuff, it would seem. Getting up to the bar itself takes some concentration, as you have to negotiate a few flights of stairs and pass through Supper Club on your way up. But it's worth it if you get a nice spot overlooking Spring St; suddenly it's all about the delicious cocktails, starry sky above, and bar staff that can be either monstrously rude or awwwwww-inspiringly cute. I've had both, but never had a bad night. Siglo would have earned 5-stars, but they seem to have changed their Croque Monsieur recipe and it isn't as oozingly cheesy or crunchy as I remember. Also, they've discontinued my favourite cocktail, the Botanical, for no apparent reason - devastating when you think that it featured fresh apple juice and cinnamon, it was like a pie in a glass. However, I will always go back to this place because it just damn well impresses me every time. So, from me Siglo gets 4 air kisses, and a promise to visit soon for an espresso martini.

Tal R.

Yelp
The kind of service that makes you feel like the staff is doing you a favour for having a time of day for you. Repeated mistakes in the bill including double items on the bill - not once, but twice! This disappointed patron wouldn't be surprised if the staff have a sales commission structure for their salaries, highly inappropriate for a business meant to adhere to responsible service of alcohol.

Jon W.

Yelp
Fantastic view, replete wine list. It's truly a terrific place to sit, admire the Parliament building and watch the summer sun slowly set. Mind you, that's when you can actually get a table and you've been able to negotiate the surly, unhelpful staff. Stand there. You can't stand there. Stand over there. Those people who just arrived were in front of you and will get seated first. You can't stand there. We won't take your drinks order until the rest of your party has arrived. Yes, really. Stand over there again. This is the apex of the "Paris" end of the Melbourne CBD and for some reason, they've opted for the most extreme caricature of snooty Parisian service. When they're not actively ignoring you, they are looking down their nose at you. The clientele reflect this. Ruddy-faced businessmen smoke cigars, joke to each other boisterously and imbibe expensive wine they don't particularly appreciate. All whilst they manage to leer at any women that wander past - usually in creepy synchronisation, not unlike a line of funfair clowns. Sigh. This could otherwise be a place filled with immense charm and grace. It's got the aspect and essential ingredients for it. Makes it all the worse in a way.

Yelp
I love Siglo. So much so that I failed to get any photos. I'm either inspired or appalled by the view here across to the Victorian Parliament. It's a lovely rooftop bar that never fails to please. The food and drinks choices are great. The crowd is impressive and cashed up. I must have been here a dozen times. It's a must do place to visit in Melbourne. Go if you haven't been.

Holly K.

Yelp
The management and service at Siglo is always horrible. Staff are generally rude. We have had occassions where we've had large corporate bookings, and have been told to not bother to order a drink because there were too many of us. The view is great, and so is the food. The drinks (if they serve it to you) are yum.

Yelp
This is my fave bar in Melbourne. When my friends first took me to the tucked away entrance and up the flight of stairs I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Thoughts of shady drug deals and rooftop sacrifices to the sun God Ra flooded through my mind. (No offence, friends). However, like many wonderful things in this city, it was another hidden gem. The bar itself is old-world charming and there are beautiful views, especially at night. There's something so relaxing sitting under the stars with Parliament all lit up on a cool Summer night. Add delicious nibbles and alcohol to the mix and it's a seriously good time. I usually stick with the Col Sandago Wildbacher Rose because it's exquisite but I'll force myself to branch out next time. I have never had a problem with wait times or the staff being rude. On the contrary. Plus I love that it's table service and you don't have to break up your conversation to walk off in search of a drink. This is a gorgeous intimate venue for drinks with friends or a romantic pre-dinner stop.

Yelp
FINALLY. I thought yeah, I've been to Siglo, it was ages ago, but i haven't been back as it was hard to find. Wait, No, I haven't been at all, until a few days ago when it was raining, then shining then raining again. Interesting dining experience on the rooftop. But good waitstaff. The Hemingway daiquiri's are quite worth the purchase and the view from the Italain-esque roof top courtyard area is quite green. Yes, It's a little pricey, but its a nice to sit and peruse a beverage menu. It does get quite busy and it can get loud, and the crowd is usually deep pocket corporate types, but even their elitism and sense of self entitlement is preferable to the douche bags whom reside in other establishments. Yes they have Cheese, and yes it is good. Siglo is one of the better.

Allan B.

Yelp
Siglo, my little slice of heaven in the CBD. You get a spacious rooftop, with some tables and some couches, and a spectacular view of the Parliament House and St. Patrick's Cathedral! Great (if not, perfect) for a date night. They have lite noshes on their menu, but the drinks are the best. Amazing martinis, though a bit on the pricey side. I guess you gotta pay for atmosphere this great. Table service is polite and efficient, but not big on chatting nor particularly opinionated on a lot of the menu. You can't go wrong with their martinis though. If you can't decide, just have a nice scotch. They even have cigars, for those of you who wanna re-live your last Cuban holiday!

Yelp
A great place for drinks. Really cool surroundings and perfect on a warm summers evening. Good selection of drinks

Mary S.

Yelp
A nice place to end a big night out (or to quietly continue on). Loads of seating on the patio allows you to enjoy a warm summer night with friends. Not overly noisy, so you can have a gossip at normal decibels. Great food is available to curb the midnight munchies - recommend the vege spring rolls and polenta chips. It can get really busy at night, so make sure you keep close to your group when you arrive (otherwise some of you might be forced to wait downstairs).

Angelo P.

Yelp
Great place to show off Melbourne to your friends. Comfy seating, great selection of wine, coffee and condiments. Upstairs even comes with a open air covered cigar lounge. This is the place I take friends who have specific or high level tastes!

Nick B.

Yelp
I came here for a Friday night drinks for a going away. I have been here many times before and have been impressed every time. This time however was a slightly different story. We came looking just to sit out on the balcony and have a few drinks rather than a sit down meal. When we arrived the balcony was set up for full fining with just a few spots to just have drinks. The team member that met us at the door was not particularly impressed with the fact that we just wanted to have drinks and had to suggest to her where we should sit. This place insists on table service which I don't have problems with usually as long as the service is slick and on the ball. Unfortunately on this occasion this was not the case. On a positive note the martini I had was made to perfection. I have yet to find a bar in Melbourne that makes a better martini. We ended up ordering some snacks towards the end of the night all of which were delicious. Although on this occasion I was disappointed with the service I will still go back again as I know they can do better than this and it is such a great place to just sit back and relax with a well made beverage and I nice view.

Matt S.

Yelp
Poor service, pretentious and overpriced. Waited an age to be served and when we were, I enquired what tap beers they had only to given the evils and a response of 'we only serve bottles'!

John T.

Yelp
After 5 months in Australia, a friend took me here on my last night. Came on a Monday night, not crowded at all. Went to sit outside, and the heaters were going so it was nice and warm. We were seated and given menus immediately, and our orders were also taken promptly. I have to say, from the beginning, coming to Siglo was a cool experience. It's one of those places where you have to know where it is. Behind a completely inconspicuous door on the street, then you walk all the way up the stairs past other establishments. The ambiance was nice, and a great view of Parliament lit up from our table. I got the Hot Toddy for a drink, as well as a cigar, a Le Hoyo Du Maire. Spent about $40 total for the two. I don't think the prices are anything worth noting in terms of expense. It's a higher end establishment, not some grungy dive bar. You go out anywhere, your expectation should be that you're going to spend some money. Coming from the U.S, I've never had a Cuban cigar. The Du Maire, a small cigar, but really great smoke. Flavorful, nice and relaxing as you enjoy it with your drink. Definitely recommend it! The waiter was quick to re-light my cigar as needed. But he was also unobtrusive which I liked. Not one of those who are constantly there asking if you need something. I hope I can come back someday. Great experience here!

Emma B.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I can't believe I haven't been here before. The view is stunning, brilliant service and cheese that is to die for. Would highly recommend everyone visit siglos

L M.

Yelp
Beautiful location. Over priced food. Great ambience. Service average. Lovely energy.

Nisha T.

Yelp
I went there for my birthday. We were a group of 14. We got there at 6:30 pm on Sat evening and asked if we could get a table. The waitress said she would set up a table for us at the 'back'. The back was a pretty dull area with high tables and bar stools. The idea behind going to siglo was so we could sit down at a table and have a view of parliament. Otherwise there are multiple bars to choose from in Melbourne. They also don't take bookings and told me over the phone that they would accommodate a large group as long as they have tables. When we got there, plenty of tables were empty but they couldn't combine them for us - they could only give us one at the back. I read some negative reviews before going but told myself to stay positive. Big mistake. They have negative reviews for a reason. I would not recommend it to anyone whatsoever. No point going there if you plan on having a good night. Lots of other places to choose from in this wonderful city of Melbourne. Also, the heater next to us was not turned on by the staff despite multiple polite requests(it was a cold October night). The food was below average and the cocktails & drinks in general were overpriced. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else.
