D.C. ABRA Calls Off Trio of St. Patrick’s Day Bar Crawls Amid Coronavirus Concerns | Eater DC

"Although the crawl was canceled, the week-old sister bar Sign of the Whale will still run crawl deals until 10 p.m.; partner Vikram Bhalla says his new Japanese-Southern fusion spot, SOTW, will suspend its sushi and other undercooked seafood offerings for the next few weeks because raw fish needs frequent replenishment and low sales, and plans to shelve them until April." - Tierney Plumb

East Coast Gastropub and Nightclub Emerges in the Gaslamp | Eater San Diego

"Recently transplanted from the East Coast, I found Sign of the Whale occupying the two-level, 8,000-foot space that formerly housed Florent Restaurant & Lounge and then Old City Hall; its flagship in Stamford, Connecticut has been operating since 2014. As its name suggests, I noticed the New American menu leans heavily on seafood — from lobster and shrimp ravioli to oyster po’ boys and seafood saffron risotto — but it also features the signature Whale Burger with bacon, gruyere, a fried egg, and truffle spread on an English muffin, plus a new Gaslamp Burger topped with smoked tomato aioli, onion jam, herb goat cheese, gruyere, and baby arugula. The restaurant and bar is open daily for lunch and dinner and serves weekend brunch." - Candice Woo

I recently visited Sign of the Whale in Stamford for my birthday brunch🥳, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. This is my third time coming here. It’s always a great place to come anytime of the day. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, and the music by DJ KC kept the energy high with a great mix of Spanish, Caribbean, and in between. The food was absolutely delicious a 10/10. Our server, Taj, was exceptional 🥰. She was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to make our celebration special, even bringing around complimentary shots every hour. I had unlimited mimosas & she always came around to refill my glass. We also received a complimentary drink from the manager, which was very thoughtful 😇. Overall, the service, music, and food exceeded expectations. I’ll definitely be returning and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun and lively brunch spot!

We sat on the rooftop and it was a relaxing and fun atmosphere with a nice view. The food was delicious. My favorite was the tuna pokè bowl. Everything was fresh and incredibly flavorful. The flavors compliment each other so well! The only thing is I wish the salad had more goat cheese and strawberries on it.

Google
The food was decent. I really liked the salmon. However, the views in the ambience of the roof rooftop restaurant is amazing. Highly recommend coming here during the day. The service was good can’t really complain. If you have a date night or wanna come here with friends or family, you should definitely consider coming here asap!

New menu launch for great summer vibes up on the rooftop. Pizza was crispy with fun combinations. Seafood options, burgers , and bites. Check out the smokin’ great cocktails from the bar mixed by Erik the award winning bow tied bartender❣️ Service was super. Music and terrific brunch too. Enjoy beautiful waterfront area of Harbor Point. Follow @DonnaDishes

Went for happy hour - the drinks and food was very well prepared. I love the atmosphere of the place, we were hanging out on the rooftop, watching the sunset. The shrimp tacos are really good, and the oysters (if you are a lover of it) were fresh and went very well with my champagne! Highly recommend. 👌🏾

Beautiful rooftop 😍 love the sunset views. Music was just right!! Food was excellent. Our sever Chris was very attentive and polite. He was a pleasure to have served us fun energetic. He had great energy loved him 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 Then the owner stopped by and welcomed us he was so polite and friendly! Love this place we will definitely be back!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🫶🏽🫶🏽

My husband and I had always been curious to visit Sign of the Whale, so we stopped in for brunch! I loved the beautiful decorations for their spring pop-up, and our waitress was friendly. We were very impressed with the breakfast tacos, which were actually so much more flavorful than we were expecting, and the brunch platter was a great way to try a little bit of everything. I would say the empanadas were my favorite thing on the board, but the Benedict was great too. Definitely a cool spot to check out if you’re looking for fun vibes in Stamford.

Last night me and my girls went to celebrate one of my girlfriend‘s birthday. The food, drinks, setup and the DJ was amazing. The owner, Jimmy and our waitress Shannon was also an added bonus. We also loved the fact that it turns into a nightclub, definitely not what we expected but it was a pleasant surprise. We will definitely be visiting again.

Yelp
Sign of the Whale has an amazing menu, smooth crafted drinks from a true mixologist! We ordered: calamari, garlic bread, oysters, mambo and buffalo wings, truffle burger, and the Caesar and arugula salad- all of it was delicious and Jimmy one of the owners helped us celebrate our bday with a delicious chocolate lava cake and shots!!!! Definitely going back!!!!

Yelp
Sign of the Whale in Stamford delivers an elevated yet welcoming dining experience in a gorgeous location by the harbor. The surrounding area is perfect for a pre- or post-meal stroll, with lush greenery and beautifully maintained landscaping creating a serene atmosphere. Once inside, the décor is breathtaking--cascading flowers on the walls and ceiling make the space feel vibrant and elegant, while the TVs showing sports and movies strike a great balance for a mixed-age crowd. The ambiance is electric but not overwhelming, with just the right blend of energy and sophistication. Service was prompt and attentive, and though the restaurant wasn't packed, I'd recommend a reservation just to be safe. For appetizers, we had the raw oysters, which were unbelievably fresh and crisp--absolute perfection. The sampler platter was a standout too, offering a variety of delicious options like empanadas, calamari, chicken wings, coconut shrimp, and cheesy Italian bread with a side sauce. The drinks were just as phenomenal as the food! One tip--be sure to ask your server about the happy hour menu if you're dining during that time; it wasn't mentioned to us until another guest brought it up! Overall, Sign of the Whale offers a relaxing yet lively vibe with stunning ambiance, delicious food, and great drinks. It's a fantastic spot to enjoy with friends, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit (on the rooftop)!

Yelp
Went to Sign of the Whale for brunch and had an amazing experience from start to finish. The staff was super welcoming, and our server Leah was phenomenal -- super attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. We even had photos taken while we were there, which was such a fun touch! I ordered the brunch pizza, and... it was soooo good. Crispy and loaded with flavor -- highly recommend it if you're trying to switch it up from the usual brunch fare. Definitely one of my new favorite spots in the area. Will be coming back soon!

Yelp
Went to Sign of the Whale for brunch. The reservations were for 11:30am, when they open. When we arrived to my surprise it was crowded. Everyone was thinking the same thing - get there early. We were seated at a nice booth and decided to have the brunch special that included bottomless mimosas or Bellinis. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a brunch burger included on the brunch menu. We ordered the crunchy french toast, side of home fries and california breakfast wrap. The crunchy french toast lived up to their name - very fluffy and crunchy. Home fries were really good, nicely seasoned and crispy. The california breakfast wrap was ok, I asked for the eggs scrambled hard because the picture I was looking at showed the eggs scrambled soft. I received it scrambled soft so I just tried to enjoy it. It was okay but I would not order it again. The mimosas were full of juice so we stuck with Bellinis which was 100 percent better. For some reason the Bellinis didn't really hit you until you stood up. The Bellinis were very refreshing. I usually don't order dessert but the banana spring rolls sound really good. When the spring rolls arrived they looked good and were absolutely delicious. Our Waiter was very pleasant and he kept our Bellinis coming without us asking.

Yelp
The place is always clean and beautiful inside! The staff is friendly most of the time, but slow and I mean sluggishly so and forgetful even when there's barely any patrons. The food: Crunchy French toast - 4 out of 5 Chicken and waffles Benedict - 4 out of 5 Crème brûlée - 4 out of 5 Home fries - 3.5 out of 5 Overall, the food is pretty good. The music is loud in here so it's not intimate but it is a fun place to go. They have some decent drink deals and this place is pretty solid! I've gone a couple times and both times the food has been on point. The service just needs to tighten up.!

Yelp
I'm updating my review based on a recent visit. Unfortunately, the service this time was extremely slow and inattentive. Our server mixed up our orders multiple times, forgot several items, and even brought us the wrong bill. While it's possible they were having an off day, waiting 30 minutes for a second appetizer and almost an hour for our entree was frustrating and took away from the overall experience.
google avatar

Dominique D.

Yelp
We started with the whipped ricotta and it was so good. The ricotta was nice, light and fresh. I went with the happy hour special, a glass of wine and the chipotle beef empanadas. It was pretty good and the sauces complimented the bites well. For the entree I got the steamed mussels with fries. I thought it was very good, I just wish it came out a few mins earlier because it was cold by the time I got it. Other than that our server was very nice and helpful. The place is huge inside with plenty of tables and bar seating. At night they have a DJ. In general wasn't bad and I'd come again for the night life.

Yelp
Actually 4.5 stars cause the menu is not up-to-date on OpenTable and I wanted to get the seafood platter for two and it wasn't available anymore. The ambience is extremely Christmas and contemporary. It's definitely a younger place trendy place. The non-alcohol beer was excellent. It's an IPA and I usually don't like those but I like theirs. The food was amazing. My wife had the short ribs and I had the seafood Pasta in a lobster sauce, which was incredible. Service was spot on. He was there when you wanted him to be there or not when you didn't. The only thing they didn't do is bring bread at the beginning of the meal. $$$ **** 1/2

Yelp
Let me start with the pro's, our waitress was a new hire but very polite and helpful. We had a lunch get-together with six other friends we haven't seen in a few years. Con's , The restaurant was not crazy busy and the servers seemed overwhelmed. Trying to get another drink was a wait. Wrong food came to our table and then half the food came and the other half of us waited a few minutes for the rest of it to come. Three of us did not have utensils and finally got up a took three sets off another empty table. The food was good when it did finally come. Little over two hours from start to finish. The four couples split the bill and it was paid. Upon leaving the Afro American female manager stopped us and said we owed more money because parties of 8 or more pay a 23% gratuity and just kept saying it's on our website so you should have known. Nothing for nothing but we are all in our 50s and don't read website guidelines and we were not informed by anyone when we sat down that this was the case. It was not posted on the menus or inside the restaurant. One of our party looked at the website and she found it said 20% not 23% that she kept rambling about. Some of us had been there 2-3 times before but service, waiting and being strong armed to pay for a 20% tip on poor to maybe ok service did not sit well with any of us. We guess what? Once I got home I was billed 23% for a gratuity total bullshit. Won't be back.

Yelp
When my friend asked me if I wanted to get brunch in Stamford ! Obviously I said yes ! And I'm so glad I did because the sign of the whale was a fabulous choice ! It is the spot to for brunch of your in the area . It is located right on the harbour front .. you can take a beautiful walk after brunch like we did and just enjoy the afternoon. To start of the decor is stunning they have beautiful flowers decorating the main floor and they even have a rooftop for events. And if you like bottomless mimosas like me then this is THE PLACE TO GO! I'm talking only $45 for bottemless mimosas or Bellini ( there was no time limit ) and the staff constantly came back to check and made sure our glasses were NEVER EMPTY ! ( Now that's service I like to see !!) The $45 also includes the entree . And I choose the French toast with strawberries and Nutella /cream cheese drizzle . Absolutely amazing good portions ( 2 toasts cut in halves and presentation on point ) ! My husband got the hazelnut espresso martini and I tried a sip , now normally I'm not a fan of espresso martinis because it's never the perfect blend of coffee and alcohol.. either it's to strong and I only taste the coffee or only taste the alcholol ! But this espresso martini was a perfect blend for me not too strong and just the right amount of sweetness ( for me , although my husband is not huge on sweet flavours and he also agreed it was his favorite as well)! Highly highly recommend !! The only issues we had was my husband ordered the breakfast nachos .. which on the menu said it came with potatoes ...however when the entree arrived it came with tortilla chips and no potatoes ( but the waiter let us know after that they had changed the ingredients and was sweet to change his meal ) Which them he got the hangover hashwhich was amazing ! Very filling and delicious highly recommend ! Overall 10/10 in my opinion all the food flavours were there and staff was great and decor on point .so I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Please don't blast music so loud the bass vibrates my apartment walls at 2pm on Sunday afternoon and until 130am on weekends Sincerely, The entire harbor point neighborhood

Yelp
Great restaurant located near the waterfront. There is street parking located in front of the restaurant and garage parking located in the same building as the restaurant. It was free to park but not sure if that was because we came during the day and at lunch time. The host was very accommodating when we had to change our reservation time due to traffic and also changed our seating to accommodate a person in our party could not sit at a high top table due to knee issues. The space is so much larger inside than it appears from outside. There were several large parties of 6 or more dining there when we arrived and what looked like an office party also there in a smaller space set off yo the side. We never felt like it was too crowded or we were rushed in our dining experience. Our server was attentive. The food and drinks came out in a timely manner again especially since they had several large parties to serve. We loved the holiday theme decor. We had an overall great experience and we were glad we finally made it to see the restaurant all decked out in it's holiday decor. Would love yo come back and enjoy the rooftop.

Yelp
I've been to sign a few times during my undergrad and it was a great bar with reasonably priced drinks and a great late night menu. Most recently I came for a private event, and to be honest it was extremely disappointing. For a private party they roped off maybe 15-20ft on the end of the bar near the women's restroom. This was great as it was open bar and the women in attendance didn't have to go far to use the restroom. However men had to navigate around the roped off area through the packed bar to the opposite end to use the restroom. Being that we were located by the women's restroom everyone else in the bar was coming through and using the restroom. Potentially eating the food we had paid for and open bar. The open bar I was impressed as it was mixed drinks, wine, and beer. However not a single person was asked for ID prior to being given a wristband for the party. Additionally no one confirmed and checked that they had a wristband when ordering anything from the bar. The hors d'oeuvres barely were enough to feed maybe 5-10 people. Let alone a party of 30+ people. I am just glad I ate dinner before and didn't depend on the hors d'oeuvres for my meal especially paired with an open bar. I was disappointed by how I know what they charged for the party, food, and open bar how disorganized it was. We definitely could've been provided a larger portion of the bar for what was being charged and better enforcement of our area because at one point I couldn't even get to the bar after around 10:30pm because all the other customizers had walked past our divider and were ordering on our section. I'm just hoping my friend was not charged more for their lack of organization. I would not recommend this venue for a private event, they are much better focused for individual dining and just a bar to get a drink at.

Yelp
Worst server ever and worst taco. This is low class restaurant and not good for family. Drinks are terrible as well. Server needs to change and need to pay more attention to customers, We will never ever comeback here. This server need to learn from the server from Mexicue cross the street

Jordan B.

Yelp
Review I do not plan on returning. The menu was changed and they no longer have their DELICIOUS buffalo chicken dip(which is why we went in the first place). Though we decided to stay and try out the new experience. To start, they don't rim drinks in the rooftop due to wind....(I worked on a rooftop all summer where we rimmed every drink) though my friend liked her strawberry Margarita. On the other hand I did not like my spicy margarita. I specifically asked the waitress to make it extra spicy. They did not use jalapeños in the drink and only a jalapeño tequila. This was barely spicy and not a proper spicy margarita. The waitress was very sweet and came over with a cup of jalapeños for me to put in(since they don't keep them on rooftop). This still did not really make a difference so as a great waitress she allowed me to return my drink for a new option. The espresso martini was with baileys was sub par. Following this our meals came out before the appetizer. None of the food was anything to rave about. We were also given an incorrect meal. We order the spicy vodka and even asked the waitress if the pizzas are shareable or personal and she said they are more personal. We were then given the spicy vodka pasta!!! The mix up seemed avoidable by the pizza size discussion or by the waitress even having an opportunity double check on the correct menu item. At the end of the meal we asked to split the checks(between only 2 people) and have the appetizer split between the tickets. The waitress told me their system does not allow this. From working in resturaunt I knew this was a lie. I have used the same system and been able to divide an item price. Overall this was a negative experience and it's sad to see this restaurant we loved go down hill.

Yelp
Lovely rooftop vibe on Friday night near the water. Food was just OK. Braised short rib appetizer was good. Drinks mediocre (pre-mixed) suggest getting 2 shots and mixer and make your own. Server was clueless about what was in drinks. The red sangria has vodka in it - shouldn't you know that. Lackluster service.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday dinner! What a great experience. From the decorations to the service, it was one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. From the moment we walked in the staff were nothing but fantastic! Our server Kimberly was amazing. She was extremely kind and gave off such positive vibes and warmth. She was extremely attentive and one of the best servers I've had. The manager Steve was great too! We started with a huge drink to share. I believe it was the Gummie Bear. It was so tasty! We ordered a few appetizers. The crispy calamari, the crispy brussel sprouts, and a spicy crab roll. All were fresh and delicious - cooked perfectly. I normally don't go for a pork chop, but this one caught my eye, so I went for it. It 100 percent, did not disappoint. Pan Roasted Berkshire Pork Chop : 14oz - agrodolce bbq glaze, vegetables,  and garlic mashed potatoes. Cooked perfectly! The chop was huge! It was so full of flavor and very moist. The menu is great! So many different options. We had such a great time here! This is how a restaurant should always be great food, great service, and great vibes. Thank you for a great birthday dinner. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Absolutely terrible! Service was sub par. The largest complaint was how they served the sushi. We were a party of 11 and many ordered individual sushi rolls. The sushi came group plated. It should have been individually plated on how each individual ordered it. It was the hunger games corporate style. On top of that it took a moons age to get everything. They also missed the reservation and gave us poor seating arangement.

Yelp
My family and I decided to visit as the last time we passed by (about a year ago) it looked LIT from the windows! We made reservations for 8pm on the rooftop. Parking was easy as there is a free parking garage around the corner. Upon walking in, we checked in with the host for our rooftop reservation. The lady said it would be around a 30-40 minute wait which was weird because we had a reservation. Since we were hungry, we settled for sitting inside although we wanted to be on the rooftop. We noticed people making their way up to the rooftop quite frequently so we knew we were going to check it out once we were done eating. I HAD to start with their fishbowl called Blue Whale which was delicious, highly suggest it! As an app, my sister and I shared the Patatas Bravas which wasn't worth the $10 in my opinion as it was a couple of seasoned potatoes with a crema. They were delicious but expensive for the portion. My cousins ordered the calamari which they enjoyed. For my entrée, the margarita pizza was calling my name and I'm glad I answered! A thin crust pie seasoned to perfection. At the end, we decided to check out the rooftop since we kept seeing people go up there. We didn't realize there was a full bar and plenty of room to sit and eat. When we were about to sit, grab a drink and enjoy the night, an employee approached us and said they weren't seating anyone else. Guess we'll see the rooftop next time I visit from Jersey!

Yelp
On a staycation to Stamford, my mom and I were given this place as a suggestion to get dinner at because of their rooftop bar section. The rooftop was nice, was kind of disappointed in the little water view, I feel like we were expecting more of that but no big deal. We sat at the bar upstairs, the crowd here was very frat boys turn financial advisor's. They hovered in large groups pretty rowdy, not exactly what we were in the mood for. It was Happy Hour when we got there. Really disappointed in the liquor options, only Captain Morgan or Smirnoff. My mom doesn't drink either of those so she went with one of the wine options. We decided we weren't going to get dinner here, but we would get an app. Went with the Jumbo Coconut Shrimp. For $15 we just thought it should have been more. The appetizer only came with 3 shrimp. What a waste of money, no matter that they were tasty. The sauces were really good, it was just over priced and we probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, our time here was just kind of meh. Went over to Mexicue instead.

Yelp
Company Holiday Party Tip - Visit and look at the space before you book it! We booked over the phone for our group of 22. When we arrived for the party, the L Shaped partially roped off area was not as large or private as we had expected. Through lots of conversations with management, we got what we needed and we had a great time.

Yelp
Food is disgusting. Got clams and had a dead baby crab in them. Nightlife there is even worse. Bouncers are extremely rude. Terrible place all around.

Yelp
Long wait time but food was good. Come prepared to spend the evening. Great views from the roof top.

Yelp
As I've told countless individuals in the past, liquor tastes the same everywhere, I visit Sign of the Whale for the service and atmosphere. HAPPY HOUR IS AMAZING WITH PLENTY OF FOOD AND DRINK SPECIALS. The downstairs bar has over a dozen flat-screen tvs and they'll always put your game on. There's booths, high-tops and a large space for groups. The brunch is fantastic and they now have a sushi bar. The upstairs deck is the best in town with plenty of seating, a large bar and a DJ most nights. Finally, they're Harbor Points "Late Night" filling station with last call coming long after the other neighborhood lounges have closed for the evening. After more than 5 years as a regular customer, I'm taking my act to Las Vegas. I want to thank everyone at Sign of the Whale for their support and friendship during my time in Stamford. We've been through a lot and we're still standing. I've never felt like just a "customer" but rather, a special guest. Here's to your continued success as Harbor Point's Premier dining and drinking establishment. Please consider opening a Sign of the Whale WEST in Las Vegas as you'll be able to leave the roof-top deck open all year and have a 24/7 liquor license! The Magic will be by Mark...of course.

Yelp
Went with some of my girls for a birthday celebration. Our server, Riley, was awesome! It was bus first day and he did so good. He was attentive and was super sweet! Apps were hot and delicious and our meals too!

Yelp
If you like waiting for your food, the Cheesecake Factory , and a waitstaff with an attitude then this is the place for you. They should change the name of this place to Sign of the Wait staff " because they are as elusive as this whale. The one star I gave them is for the blue point oysters. BB

Yelp
Walked out - terrible customer service Hostess acted unprofessional and seemed inconvenienced that we were there with a confirmed reservation Have dined here previously , however, we will not be returning or recommending to others

Yelp
What is the prize? This place turned out to be. My niece and nephews took me there for my birthday and it was a pleasant surprise. Nice spot really good customer service. The food was delicious and served quickly. We had a combination of many different appetizers. We didn't go upstairs or sit outside because the weather was a little less than lovely today, but other than that it was really delightful. Nice neighborhood gem.

Shanina S.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for lunch and the atmosphere was relaxing. The customer service was great and the sampler appetizer was the best option to get since you get to taste a little bit of everything they have to offer. The second time I went it was okay. Consistency is a must in a restaurant establishment. The restaurant had a great vibe so it's always great to come in to enjoy the environment and have a nice drink.

Yelp
Love Island Watch Party seemed so unorganized, understaffed, nobody on the same page, 3 wrong food orders throughout our entity of the stay... AND for stamford pricing..... a joke. Get It together lol

Yelp
I've been here for brunch before and the food was mediocre (definitely had to eat before) but we had a fun time in their rooftop igloos. The manager at the time was super nice and made it a great time for our friends birthday! My best friend made a reservation for the igloos her birthday this year and they canceled our reservation 30 minutes before the time of our reservation because they said the igloos were wet because it rained. They never mentioned canceling reservations due to possibility of bad weather when we booked it. We asked for accommodation inside and they said they couldn't. We were coming from Manhattan and our other friend was coming from New Haven to celebrate our friends birthday and we had to scramble for last minute plans in a city we're not even from. I wish they could have been more helpful and sensitive to the fact that it was my friends birthday.

Yelp
The place was decorated beautifully for Christmas. Food was delicious. Only complaint was that we had reservations confirmed and showed up and it was not there. We ended waiting an hour even with reservations. Food took a while to come.

Yelp
Sign of the Whale is always my Stamford go to for a night out or brunch! Typically we are celebrating a birthday/have a larger group when I've visited and the vibes, music, and service are always great!

Yelp
we went to the sign of the Whale it was a party of 3 , Food was fantastic ,service was great. we finished our meal and settled the check. and was drinking our drinks, and the server came up and said they needed the table for a reservation. So my thought is don't pay your bill until you are finished with everything !!!! But other then that everything was Good.

Yelp
Was here on a Sunday brunch for my cousins bday, we had reservations and we were accommodated right away. As we're sitting down by our reserved table we noticed the floor being slippery so we look under the table and it was very filthy with food crumbles and probably spilled Prosecco. Buss Boy comes and sweeps under the table. We ordered from the brunch menu. Ordered beef empanadas with chimmichuri sauce, and the hangover hash for appetizer and for our entree we got the steak and eggs and lobster brunch, plus chicken and waffle. Our lobster dish came without potato on the side which they brought later after they noticed it. Overall we did have a good time, the food was really good, and our servers were really nice.

Yelp
Great place to spend time with friends. Most of the Cocktails we tried were not that great (indoors and rooftop). Food was good.

Yelp
I had a brunch reservation to celebrate my birthday on Sunday - which I had specified in the reservation. Less than 1 hour before the time of the reservation, I received a phone call to cancel my reservation due to the rain. The rain had been forecasted at 90% since Wednesday. The reservation was for an enclosed igloo, and the person on the phone reported to me that the outside had gotten wet. When I asked if they could accommodate my reservation indoors - I was informed that they could not. Overall, this felt like poor planning on the part of the restaurant and extremely inconsiderate. This was an unexpected weather event, nor was it accompanied by thunder, lightning, high winds, etc. It was just rain, and the igloos would have kept us dry. I was left scrambling to find a location nearby since I was already en route and to call my other attending friends to let them know what was happening. I was thoroughly looking forward to celebrating my birthday in what I assumed would have been a fun atmosphere. Instead, I was stranded and scrambling, with no offer of resolution, accommodation, or compensation. I will not patronize this establishment in the future.

Yelp
Very cute aesthetic. The food is great. Especially the empanadas & veal meatballs. Very flavorful. Peppercorn burger is also a must try. Cooked perfectly. Roof top seatiing! I would like to recommend the truffle parm fries but we were mistakenly served the regular ones. The server brought us a side of parm to compensate but I don't think it tastes the same . Will give it another try next time we're in the city. No biggie.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the cute Christmas decor of this restaurant it is not worth your time. First of all let's start with the fact that they literally served me melon which I'm allergic to after having a whole conversation about it with the waitress. If you have an allergy DO NOT go here. To continue, almost every item that was ordered was incorrect and it took 1.5 hrs to receive the food. Our server was extremely incompetent and overall our experience here was awful. We will not be returning.

Yelp
Sign of the Whale in Stamford offers an average experience with middle-of-the-road food, service, and prices. It mirrors the unremarkable nature of the neighborhood it's situated in.

Yelp
Great decor, awesome rooftop. Came on a windy day for brunch alone. Hangover hash- really tasty, but didn't have the cherry peppers listed in the description. Bloody Mary- added shrimp for $2 and they left off the bacon that should come with, it should have been an add-on not a replacement . Bloody was just ok, not worth $16. Ordered hot sauce to go with the food and that made the bloody a little better too, but I didn't finish it. Friendly service. Would go back but wasn't super wowed by the food.

Yelp
Love the outdoor seating. Love that the server was accommodating enough to allow my friend and I indoor seating as well when the weather became a bit too harsh. I ordered a breakfast pizza, but subbed meat for veggies. They were more than willing to accommodate and for that I'm always thankful and impressed. My friend ordered a vegetarian eggs Benedict. She unfortunately was not a fan of her food, but I definitely loved mine. There was broccoli, mushroom, cheese, scrambled egg, a garlic type of aioli, all on the bread. Delicious!!!!! Prices are reasonable. Taking off 1 star only because my friend really did not enjoy her food.

Yelp
It was an overall terrible experience. The bridal shower for my future daughter-in-law was a tremendous disappointment. Nothing in the agreement I signed was provided including dedicated servers to our event, an on-site event contact, specific beverage service, hot buffet meal, dessert and coffee service, and management presence. I've hosted many parties and this is by far the worst. I was completely embarrassed in front of our guests and guest of honor, the bride.
