Call Your Mother Wants To Make ‘The Best Bagel Around’ | Eater DC

"During development of the Call Your Mother bagel recipe, Dana and Timber chef Daniela Moreira did loads of testing and trial-and-error work at Smoke Signals bakery in North Carolina to refine the hybrids that combine Montreal and New York styles." - Tierney Plumb

The sourdough bread was delicious and I had them slice so I could make sandwiches. It’s the perfect size for a sandwich not too wide. As far as their pastry items. They were good but too earthy for my taste. For someone that is looking for a real farmer’s market pastry, this is it. Wish they had some seating. Definitely a grab and go.

We stopped by on our way to Magazzino Art to find the most delicious baked goods around. OMG the ricotta tomato tart is amazing as was everything we purchased. Great space inside and out. Thank you all

This place feels just right! Cozy like home, with a clean, modern style that makes you wanna stay. Everything is baked with care: wholesome ingredients, not too sweet, really thoughtful. You walk out feeling nourished and happier. Definitely worth a stop when you are in the area, even if it means a detour!

Hidden Gem: Fantastic Coffee Roaster and Bakery! I stumbled upon this little coffee shop by accident, and what a great find! They roast their own coffee beans and also sell their own fresh-baked bread. The coffee is absolutely delicious, and they have a wide variety of breads and pastries, all of which looked incredibly tempting. The staff was extremely kind and friendly, taking the time to tell us about their shop and process. Just a note: they close at 4 PM, so if you're planning to buy bread, make sure to get there early! Highly recommend this spot!

Signal Fire Bread is hands-down one of the best bakeries I’ve had the joy of discovering. Everything they make is crafted with such care, love and intention—and you can taste it in every bite. Special shout out to their Honey Wheat bread: soft, subtly sweet, and perfect for toast or sandwiches. It’s hearty without being heavy, and feels nourishing in that rare, deeply satisfying way. The Pecan Ginger Scone. The balance of warmth from the ginger and crunch from the pecans is spot on. It’s the kind of pastry that makes you pause with the first bite. You can tell they care about quality, ingredients, and community. Highly recommend stopping by—your belly will thank you.

Excellent bread paired with excellent service. What more could you need? This is easily the best bread I’ve ever had! Only picked up the seeded loaf and the baguette but I would come back to try their pastries / other goodies!🤠

So happy this is here! Their olive loaf is fantastic and stacks up with our favorite go-to spots in the city (namely C&B in the EV). Also tried a scone which was great and not as overly sweet as you'll find pretty much anywhere else that's serving up pastries. Wonderful spot and can't wait to try the rest of their baked offerings!

I drive 2.5 hours for this incredibly amazing Barry. The bread is to die for and the baked goods and pizza are the things dreams are made of. Run, don't walk to get here!!
