The Best Pizza by the Slice in Portland and the Surrounding Suburbs | Eater Portland

"It may technically be a peninsula, but many residents find St. Johns an island difficult to leave. A microcosm of Portland, St. Johns has (nearly) one of everything, and a charming neighborhood pizza spot is no exception. Inhabiting a retired gas station — complete with inactive, 1930s-era pumps — Signal Station serves generously sized slices on airy crusts from a daily list of five options: typically cheese and pepperoni, along with veggie and meat specials." - Nathan Williams

Where to Find Cheesy, Satisfying Pepperoni Pizza in Portland

"The epitome of a staple neighborhood pizza joint, Signal Station has been serving generous slices of simple, unfussy pizza in St. Johns since 2006. The vintage gas station pumps may not be functional, but they lend a charming aura to a drizzly Portland day with a paper plate of pepperoni slices in hand. Pepperoni lovers can also find their favorite meat sliced into Signal Station’s Esso sub sandwich, along with ham, salami, and a bounty of crispy veggies." - Nathan Williams

Used to love this place. The employees have always been top notch!!! Great pizza and the best Italian sandwich in the neighborhood. Unfortunately (and this is for the owners) you can't get the sandwich anymore because they are horribly understaffed. Can't imagine why they would have ONE person working to take orders and prepare food.. a few years ago you could get that awesome sandwich because they always had two people working. Now its impossible. The poor guy is back there dealing with 8 customers at a time and all with a good attitude and a smile on his face but its become obvious the owners are too cheap to hire an extra person. This used to be my go to spot in the neighborhood but now I go maybe twice a year. Sad.. and a terrible way to run a business. They probably think they're saving money by working one employee to death but all its doing is chasing people away. I'm not the only one who has noticed this. If you're too busy to make a sandwich then take it off the menu. But I do want to say again that EVERY person behind the counter has been outstanding in the 10 years I've been going there. STOP BEING SO GREEDY AND HIRE SOMEONE

Google
Great pizza for both take out and eating in there. Their pizza week slides the last couple years have been great.

Google
I’m giving this 4 stars overall, although I’d probably give 4.5 if I could. I got the large Philomath, plus jalapeños. Pizza was ready for pickup right on time, the staff was friendly, it smelled great inside. My mouth was watering the whole way home. I was surprised to see a super thin crust when I opened the box, like east coast thin. Everything about the pizza was great - the sauce was spicy, toppings were adequate, crust was great, but there just wasn’t enough of it. I ate all but 1 piece by myself, for dinner. In this price range ($38 with tip), I’m pretty used to having lunch the next day as well. That’s the only thing that stopped me from 5 stars.

Google
As someone who once worked at a pizza shop, I find it very hard to eat at pizza places—I am picky, what can I say? Signal Station is a pizza place I am never disappointed to eat at. Ultra thin crust, plenty of toppings, a sweet-savory balanced sauce—just divine! Super quirky (though very small/claustrophobic on the inside, so be warned if you’re a person who dislikes small spaces) pizza shop inside of an old gas station. What more is there to love? However, the pizza they make is absolutely phenomenal. It feels so good to eat a pie made with whole ingredients and the best quality toppings—I would highly recommend this joint—they’re not cheap but I think they’re worth it. It is a pizza I eat that makes me feel good rather than bloated and miserable — and I think that is worth straight gold. And their ranch is delicious! The humans who work here are so frickin nice. I really do appreciate them all deeply, and their phenomenal customer service. I always get a Bridge with added red onions — but I also recommend their calzones and their Charleston!

Google
(Steve’s wife) The company I work for asked me to schedule an employee pizza lunch. After doing my Google search for a local restaurant and reading reviews, we chose Signal Station Pizza and everyone LOVED it! We have 49+ employees (mostly hungry men) so that’s saying a lot! Leftovers? Hardly. Next time we’ll need to order more so that night shift can have a snack. Anna and Chris were awesome to work with. Along with the 13 assorted large pizzas we ordered, they were also able to accommodate our vegan and gluten free staff. THANK YOU and we will be back!!

Google
This place has great pizza and sells it by the slice. you don't want to miss this, especially during pizza week. I make my way around during Pizza week... and they always come out with my favorite and unique slice. I would say if you were planning on a perfect St. John date, make this one of the stops.

Google
Super cute place! Pizza was really good too! Closest thing we have been able to find to a “NY” slice in PDX. Staff was a little strange when we went to order, almost like we were bothering them for being there?

Lorenzo Curtis

Google
The Portsmouth pizza was outstanding, but the staff were just unfriendly and unwelcoming. The man and woman weren’t responsive to my compliments about the establishment nor their pizza, and they didn’t respond nicely despite them getting along just fine with one another. Good pizza, kinda rude people.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this gas station pizzeria over on the east side! The idea of turning an old gas station that could have been abandoned into a pizzeria was novel. Still, it was so crowded and their pizza smelled great, that I couldn't resist. When you walk in the door, you're greeted with a vintage atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in an old diner. You wait in line, grab your favorite drink, and pay for it when you order. I ordered a pizza named after the St. Johns neighborhood, got a number and found a seat outside. It's summer, and the days are getting longer, so sometimes eating outside gets a little too hot, but for great pizza it's worth it. delicious! Next time, I will sit down when it's cooler. Signal Station Pizza (8302 N Lombard St, Portland, OR 97203) About a 20-minute drive from downtown Portland, St. John's is a cute, walkable neighborhood with a great local vibe.

Yelp
This is a great spot for a quick slice or picking up a whole pizza. Their prices are reasonable and the building is a super cool old gas station. This time we ordered the Philadelphia pizza and it was great!
google avatar

Yelp
A pretty good place with plenty of outdoor seating for a nice day. I just grabbed the meat slice in which was priced well and is a good size slice. The slice wasn't at all very greasy being a good plus. I didn't mind the dough but is that fluffy doughy crust type of that's what you are looking for. Staff was nice and quick in getting the slice out.

Yelp
Hand's down, this place wins the award for the cutest restaurant in the area. Hand's down! It's an old gas station, I believe from the 40's, complete with old signage and actual gas pumps. I just loved loved LOVED the retro vibe from this place. It is SO awesome! But how's the food, you might ask? OMG the pizza here is legit good! I'm not a huge pizza fan, but I loved the pizzas that my daughter and her boyfriend ordered from here (I forget the varieties). The crust wasn't too doughy or chewy (I hate when it's so bready that it fills you up), nor was it thin and crispy. It was perfect. And the toppings were fresh and delicious. We also had a chop salad (my kid always orders this with her pizza from here. She's a big fan!) and it was delicious, too: super fresh and full of crisp greens and cherry tomatoes and chopped deli meats and more. Really delicious. When we went to pick up our order, there was a lively motorcycle gang outside on the picnic benches, engaged in discussion and quite jovial. They were in their 40's and 50's. They kinda added to the ambiance of this local, quirky gas station/pizza parlor. Oh, inside the "gas station", my kid and I saw they had delicious ice cream treats in a cooler (one was a large lemon-lavender ice cream sandwich of sorts. Some sort of gourmet brand). We had intended to return the following day to get one, as it looked so good, but we were unable to get back. On my next trip to Portland, we made a pact to return to Signal for that ice cream!

Yelp
Wow.... What a cute place with great pizza this is. It's a converted ole gas station. Not a place with indoor dining but so cute. Lots of picnic tables outside some under cover. Right in the heart of Saint Johns. It was pizza week and they had this amazing Reuben pizza it was called "where have Reuben all my life". So so good and thin crust. When we left, we wish we would've ordered a pie to go... It was that yummy. The people working here are super nice, and they got those slices out quickly. Love it!

Yelp
It's been a while since I dined here. They have a few outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. They serve both slices and whole pies and well as sandwiches. The person working their was very friendly. I stopped by for their pizza week special -Reuben slice and it was great. It really tasted like a reuben on a slice of pizza.

Yelp
Eclectic little place. I Looks like it used to be an old gas station. Good service with some of the best pizza I have ever had.

Yelp
Exactly what you need. Really cool building and solid pizza for the west coast. Our server was quick

Makenna B.

Yelp
I ordered a pepperoni pizza and was very disappointed because the pizza is 25$ and they barley put any pepperoni and the middle of the pizza was a puddle of grease. I was very excited to come here hearing how good the pizza is and was very disappointed once again.

Yelp
You can't miss Signal Station just by the outside decor! Initially thinking it was a gas station I was surprised that it was actually a restaurant AND even better, a pizza shop. Great spot to grab a slice on a sunny day and enjoy at their picnic tables. For their slices they have cheese, pepperoni, a vegetarian option, and rotating special for ~$4 a slice. Don't let the slice menu fool you since they also sell whole pies and have a great selection of unique combinations named after the streets in the area. If you're not feeling pizza, they also sell salads and sandwiches which I heard were also good. Got a slice of the pepperoni and their special which was sausage, pepperoni, and peppers and both were satisfying. Nice sized slices and nice crunch with the crust. Love the space and staff was nice during the time as well.

Scott D.

Yelp
Very unique place with excellent pizza and friendly staff. The pizza selections (and their names) on the menu are as good as it gets.

Yelp
A good stop by place for pizza and beer nothing really more than that. It's street pizza.
google avatar

Jerry F.

Yelp
You aren't even excited for the second slice. Just can't see how someone eats three slices without feeling a little sick. For $22, you really should go elsewhere. The pizza is thin slice, but more plastic-chewy than crispy, and filled with flavor. This is the second time I've ordered from here because I was hoping the first pie was just a bad day. Both times, pizza looks great but the taste and consistency leaving you wishing you'd gone elsewhere. Wouldn't recommend despite young staff of two seeming quite nice and cheery.
google avatar

Yelp
Small ma and pop place that's been around for ever. Found this spot randomly with some friends. The pricing and size of slice you get it worth it. They do whole pies also. But I was in the mood for a slice which was the size of my head, fold in half kinda pizza. I'm vegetarian so usually I get stuck with plain cheese, nope they had this amazing sun dried tomato pizza with artichokes and I can't wait to go back to eat more. The outside seating area is cute and big enough for friends. They have a few picnic tables set up. If you can't find parking, you can always park at the Safeway nearby, it's a quick few minute walk here.

Yelp
Worth the wait! Great pizza served up in a converted, vintage gas station. Fun!!!!!!!
google avatar

Alana R.

Yelp
The pizza is ok. What makes it is the setting and customer service. More of a hype for first time visitors. After that you just got mid pizza, nice staff, and a cute locale.

Yelp
By far my favorite pizza in all of Portland small little spot in the St. Johns District at an old gas station. very cool little spot. Me and my son love this place can't go wrong with the pizzas and the calzones are awesome also.

William H.

Yelp
Delicious and we love the converted gas station vibe. Crust is a wonderful New York style and that red sauce that does not skimp on garlic!

Matt L.

Yelp
This place checks all the boxes. My family and friends love the food at Signal! Anna, the owner, is the best!

Yelp
Excellent staff, fast pizza, but flavorless. The vibe is cute at Signal. The line was long and stretched at least 5 deep then entire hour we were there - very clearly a favorite spot. Arriving at just before 7pm we were surprised how busy it was. We waited in line and saw plenty of folx grabbing slices and full pies. Lots of outdoor seating and social distancing. Very cool. The line moved fast and before you knew it a very nice lady took our order and said she'd bring it out. What?! I didn't expect that kind of service when they're clearly B-U-S-Y. Pizza (St Johns Combo Pizza) was done in a jiff. Looked GORGEOUS (see: photos). I was waiting for the crust others rave about being squishy but crunchy, the flavors in the awesomely colorful slice... and... nothing? My partner and I looked at each other, "does this taste... bland?" The crust was... crust. It was hand made and a nice thickness, but had no flavor and the mouthfeel was a bit dry for my NY style preferences. For as beautiful as the pizza was, as friendly and fast as the service was its almost no wonder why this place is so popular. The taste confused both of us. We saw the sauce! But couldn't taste it. Beef chunk! No flavor? Giving 3*s on the staff and presentation alone. The cardboard box and pizza had similar flavor notes :l $

Yelp
One of our favorite places. A regular order for us is the St. John's combo and the Bridge.

Yelp
Signal Station shot straight to the top of my list of favorite PDX pizza joints after one visit. An instant wave of euphoric nostalgia took over when I stepped through the entrance of Signal Station Pizza. I can't say I have ever seen a pizza place quite like this. It looks like an eatery dreamed up by a team of Disney imagineers. It's located in an old gas station, complete with pumps and signage. AND THE SMELL! It's the smell that pizza dreams are made of. I wish I could bottle it. Anyway, I ordered a slice of cheese, a slice of pepperoni and a can of soda. We grabbed a table outside, and the pizza was brought to us within a few minutes of sitting down. The cheese pizza was everything you want a classic slice of cheese pizza to be, and I could likely eat a whole pie by myself. They sprinkle a generous amount of Pecorino Romano to accompany the provolone and mozzarella cheeses and it really takes it to the next level. The pepperoni slice was, if possible, even more delightful. The pepperoni themselves were cooked to a perfect crunch around the edges, and it seemed to have a bit more sauce than the cheese pie. The sauce was clearly homemade and very, very good - sweet, tangy and rich in flavor. The crusts were airy on the inside with a light crisp on the outside. After devouring the first two slices, in what felt like seconds, we decided another slice of pepperoni was needed, for good measure. Our third slice was just as satisfying as the first. We could've easily put down a few more slices, but ultimately we decided it was best to stop there for the night. Driving by at night the glowing red neon lights will catch your eyes and pull you in, but the unreal scent of baking bread and bubbling red sauce will hold you hostage until you've had your fill. We definitely recommend stopping by Signal Station. It's worth the drive if you're not in Portland. We can't wait to go back and grab some more slices!

Yelp
I've been curious to try this pizza place since moving to the neighborhood. It looks like it would be a neighborhood hang with everyone who knows each other already hanging out. Which can be intimidating. Well, I've been slowly feeling okay with grabbing take out occasionally and so on a Friday night when I just wanted pizza this was where I wanted to try. I saw on insta they were still open. I called in an order, it was a 30 minute wait but I didn't mind at all. I got there a few minutes early so I just waited outside after paying. Now the real deal: this pizza is so freaking good. And I'm a pizza snob. (I just don't always crave pizza so when I do, it has to be good). This pizza did NOT disappoint! I got the Charleston which is bbq chicken and all kinds of goodness. I ordered the personal size which was only $12. Such a great price for delicious pizza! It was so good that I may have eaten it all at once. I didn't mean too. I meant to save left overs. But. I couldn't stop eating it! I will 100% be back and often.

Yelp
I just started going to Signal and so far it's been great. The slices are yummy. The staff is friendly and service is good. An easy stop in, after work, to grab a couple slices. Thanks Signal.

Diane S.

Yelp
For the likes of me, this PLACE Signal Station should be a 5 star PLUS. Originally from the EAST Coast - living over 30 plus years in California, here visiting my Son who lives in Portland - this is the BEST dam PIZZA tasted on the entire WEST COAST. Seriously who are leaving these reviews..... Ordered large , mushrooms, roasted peppers, sausage with extra sauce, and a meditrian salad. Can't not EMPHASIS this enough ......First time HIT the mark of what EAST COAST Pizza tasted like here. Imagine in St. John , Portland Oregon.

Yelp
Man! I had high hopes. This place has a great location and even better setting. Such a cool place. But the pizza... not good. I got the pizza by the slice, 1 cheese and 1 pep. Slices were a decent for the price. Upon receiving my slices, you can instantly tell the put waaayyyyy too much cheese. And yes, they put waaaaayyyy too much cheese on both. I could barely taste the sauce because of the cheese. Pepperonis were ok and crispy, I did like that. But not enough to save this place from my one star review. The quality of the ingredients are cheap. The pizza tasted like it belonged in a Chuck E Cheese. Dead Serious. The dough tasted like toasted white bread, had the texture of that too. Sorry Signal, but it's true. Please step your game up! Head over to Rally's or Pizza Creature for good reference.

Willow B.

Yelp
I believe one of the owners of the establishment - a blonde-ish woman - really just dislikes people. The only reason I suspect her to be an owner is there is no way in hell I'd allow an employee of mine to regularly treat customers like they're a nuisance, and lose valuable business. All of the bad reviews have nothing to do with your food, and 100% to do with one person who regularly makes customers feel like garbage. Yelling when a child spilled a drink outside, accusing customers of trying to steal a $0.50 ranch cup they paid for and offered to show you proof of & then getting embarrassed and ushering them out of your building. Just get another job if you hate your life and your customers so much. We definitely will not come back after the last awful interaction, which is a bummer because we've been loyal regulars for years.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
Great pizza, snobby service. She acted like she was too good to get my husband simple things, like ranch and a lid for the damn ranch. She went far enough as to roll her eyes, while saying snarky remarks. She ruined the whole experience. They need better employees, bottom line.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
Great pizza joint pizza is always cooked fresh the service is amazing and no matter what she always remembers a face and her regulars I love this place so much the price is a Lil bit spendy but with everything comes along always makes it worth it
google avatar

Grumpy B.

Yelp
Waited a very long time despite bring the only customer. The place was dirty with chipping paint on the heater next to my table. The speed metal music was fine but not what I'd consider public space music. The pizza was actually better than the ambience. The sauce use was tasty. The sausage was better than average. The cheese was good but slightly burnt compared to the underdone crust the crust on the small pizza was not the same as the large, more dough like. Overall I'd give the pizza a solid 5 out of 10. But overall it loses marks for cleanliness and timeliness but overall it loses marks for cleanliness and timeliness I'll give this two stars because there are worse places to have pizza and Portland specifically flying pie Pizza down the street
google avatar

Janna Z.

Yelp
So, do you want a great slice, a generous wine pour ($3.50 happy hour) a smile and throwback tunes on a turntable? I love this place. The employees are actually happy to see you and bend over backwards to make you feel valuable. This place is small, and funky. It's real. Sit outside and watch what goes on in the neighborhood. You don't pay for parking and they remember your face when you come in. My little "Cheers" in St. John's.
google avatar

Caroline F.

Yelp
Nom Nom Nom. Saucy. Thin. Yummy. And by the slice. Solid pizza and friendly service. Our favorite slice in the hood.
google avatar

Reina R.

Yelp
We always order the cheese pizza. Dough is perfect, the right amount of sauce and cheese, you can't go wrong with cheese. Signal never disappoints. We wish you had bread sticks!

Raina N.

Yelp
I've tried all the gluten free pizza there is to try in the Saint Johns area, signal station has the best. They only have it in personal size but I've come to realize the places that have gf crust in small size only taste better than the full ones, It seems it just gets mushy easily if made too big.
google avatar

Yelp
The Pizza was real good and the salad was tasty... The beer while waiting for the my pizza was very good too. The biggest problem was that I took the pizza to go and it was cold when I got home. I stuck in in the oven and a few minutes later I had double baked pizza. Well, at least it warmed things up a bit. Its all good. Of course this place is unique with the 50's decor. A very nice conversion.
google avatar

Shirley I.

Yelp
We each had a slice of pizza and then added pineapple for both of us. The menu looked great for calzone and custom pizza. The prices are very reasonable. This is an excellent location with outside tables. The gas station decor make for a unique restaurant and a location we drive by all the time. We'll be back!

Yelp
Delicious pizza! Sweet lil adult beverages. Ice cream. Cute lil place and enjoyable atmosphere with nice outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jason A.

Yelp
Best pizza place in PDX. Fresh, great sauce, and I love the location despite the lack of parking. Seriously melts in my mouth. The smell when I walk up the the counter makes me really hungry. $20 for a large pizza is usually more than I would spend at a pizza joint... except for here. It's worth every penny.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
I like the slices here and the people working there are great. Love this location and the cool retro gas station decor too.
google avatar

Shelby C.

Yelp
Where to start. The sauce? Amazing. Toppings out of this world. Whether you're stopping in for a quick slice, or a full pizza, you will not be disappointed. I always get the all meat pizza-the meatballs are INCREDIBLE. Soda choices are great. Tons of toppings, sauces, and menu items. They even have rotating ice cream. Service is always fast and kind. Fun to sit in the old station, or easy to take it to go. Don't pass this gem without stopping for a slice-you'll be hooked.
google avatar

Jasmine J.

Yelp
The best salmon salad in a long time! Thank you for always having the best customer service! Your pizzas are THE BEST in North Portland! Hands down happy!!! Patio is clean too!!!
google avatar

Nick H.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Not the best pizza in St Johns, just average. I got to try the pepperoni (decent) and the "Saint Johns" (also decent). Prices were fair and staff was friendly, but the place was a little cramped, trying to fit in an old gas station. The crust/dough seemed low quality, even store bought, which hurt the pizza. The cheese and tomato sauce also seemed poor quality. It was a very average tasting pizza, with way better options elsewhere. Pizza was a B-/C+

Yelp
We just ordered from Signal Station for the first time last night, after living in St. Johns for over a year and walking past it so many times without even giving it a second thought. We were totally wowed! This is, hands down, the best pizza I've ever tried! The crust is perfection: light, crispy AND chewy, NOT greasy, and so tasty I could eat it sauceless, like a good crusty bread. We couldn't decide what to choose, so we settled on a half-and-half: Charleston (bbq chicken with bbq sauce, red onions, and roasted red peppers on one side and the more traditional Portsmouth on the other. Both were excellent! We also got their chopped salad, whose contents were top notch, but the balsamic vinaigrette was a bit sweet for our tastes, so we used our own Italian dressing at home instead. No knocks, though- the staff were super friendly and covid-conscientious, they have a great location with outdoor seating available, and wide menu options, including creatively-named sub sandwiches, calzones, and salads, in addition to their array of pizza choices. This will be our new go-to!

Yelp
Fantastic pizza and a really neat location. I met the owners and they're rad. Stop in for a slice!

Evan T.

Yelp
The pizza from here is always on point. I don't know if it's because I ordered through Postmates, but I was a little bit sticker shocked to realize I spent $19.50 on a 10-in pizza with 3 veggie and 1 meat topping. That just seems pretty pricey for a 10-in pizza. I ordered a dozen wings with it which was $12 and they were phenomenal except next time I'd recommend when sending wings out for delivery that you put the sauces outside of the box. My sauces literally came hot and separated. Picked up a 2 liter of soda with this. Again.maybe it's just the Postmates pricing and it needs adjusting. I ordered a 10-in pizza, a dozen wings, and a 2 l and with tips spent $42. Not so thrilled overall when it comes to value and dollar on that but maybe it's just me
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered an entire pepperoni pie here. It was made from scratch and done in ten minutes. The woman working the counter was very attentive to us, even through her smoke break. The pie was pretty and my kids gave it two thumbs up. Overall, super great service, super fast pie, reasonable prices, good tasting pizza.

Yelp
I make my own pizza at home and at the risk of dislocating my shoulder I pat myself on the back because it is damn good! Hence, finding good pizza is a little bit of a problem for me since hardly anything compares to homemade. Occasionally you get lucky and find a place. This is a great place. Post Yelp Elite Event at Salty's on Marine Drive the Wife and I felt the need for a bite to eat since the people who helicoptered the food tables got all the good stuff before those of who were enjoying the view. But I digress... The Wife used to live in St Johns, we moved in together there, got engaged and married while we lived there and always appreciated and loved our St Johns neighborhood. We cruised the whole area deciding on a place to eat and didn't really feel motivated to hit the St Johns Pub. Suddenly a neon glow acted like a beacon from around the corner. "Wasn't that a flower shop", I asked, "No, that went out of business, then it became a smoke shop, but look it has tables." A sign stated "Pizza By The Slice", and that sounded like the ticket. We parked. As we walked in the front entrance we noticed a Yelp sticker on the window. I love irony. We approached the front and the two guys behind the counter were busy with whatever it is guys do behind a counter, they gave us some space while we looked over what we wanted, which was nice. As we placed our order for a cheese and a pepperoni slice with some soda just the smells of the place were making me even hungrier. Only complaint is my usual one, these guys went to a lot of trouble making a cool, hip spot with canned soda in a cooler instead of the old eight spout vender, and still they had only two diet options, Coke and Pepsi. If you are trying to be hip and trendy try mixed it up with the low cal options! Diet Dr Pepper, Diet Mountain Dew, Diet Root Beer... go nuts! Two huge slices of pizza came up from behind the counter. We took seats outside the roll up doors and enjoyed the night air. The first bite told me everything about this pizza. Scratch crust, good quality cheese and a kick ass sauce that tasted of olive oil and oregano, the way it should be. It capped off a perfect night, and make no mistake about, we will be back... often.

Yelp
Great personable staff, awesome location, really quick service. Had the calzone that should be for two people all to myself. Then I birthed a calzone baby later in the evening. The sauces are all amazing, can't wait to birth another one of their delicious pizzas.

Yelp
I've rarely written bad reviews on places but seeing that Signal Station was rated so well (and above much better spots only blocks away), I needed to add my two cents. My wife and I went here when we moved into the area. Since there were soooo many pizza options in St. Johns, we decided to start with this one because of the cool looking space. I am not a picky eater but this place had *the* most bland pizza I've ever tasted. The pizza sauce tasted like someone took a can of tomato paste, smeared it across the top of the dough, then dumped Italian seasoning over it for flavor. This view was shared by my wife and some friends who came here despite our warnings. They are decently sized pizzas but if you are going to spend your money, go to anywhere else---even Pizza Hut, Little Caesars, Papa Johns...anything has better flavor than this. I'm still amazed that this place is rated so well. The people were friendly but of all the chain stores and mom/pop pizza joints I've ever eaten at, this is one of the most mediocre pizzas I've ever had.

Yelp
Pizza seems a bit under baked...you get a raw dough taste in every other bite. The pizza here would be soooo much better if they were to let it bake just a tad bit longer. Perfect amount of toppings and super friendly service make this unique place a great pizzeria...but they really gotta do something about the huge fly infestation. People would have a much enjoyable experience without the flies, Just saying.
