"Fremont’s Silence Heart Nest — the meat-free restaurant that devotees of Bangladeshi guru Sri Chinmoy opened 34 years ago — recently announced that it has closed permanently and that the space is for sale. No reason was given for the closure, although it joins an ever-growing list of restaurants that have closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Silence Heart Nest opened in the U District in 1986, then moved to Fremont in 2005, serving up popular vegetarian breakfast and brunch dishes, including sesame pancakes, tofu migas, and soy bacon BLTs. The welcoming spot maintained a spiritual vibe throughout its decades of operation in both locations, with sarong-clad servers, inspirational messages displayed on the tables, and soothing music filling the dining room. It’s also part of a chain around the world owned by Sri Chinmoy students, and bills itself as one of the oldest vegetarian restaurants in Seattle." - Gabe Guarente

"Seattle’s about to say goodbye to a vegetarian dining legend. This weekend, Fremont’s Silence Heart Nest — the meat-free restaurant that devotees of Bangladeshi guru Sri Chinmoy opened 33 years ago — announced it would be closing permanently after service on Wednesday. The welcoming spot maintained a spiritual vibe throughout its decades of operation in both locations, with sarong-clad servers, inspirational messages displayed on the tables, and soothing music filling the dining room. It’s also part of a chain of restaurants around the world owned by Sri Chinmoy students." - Gabe Guarente

"The spirit of Sri Chinmoy has been guiding this airy Fremont breakfast-and-lunch diner since 1986. Delicious egg dishes dominate the menu, but vegans can also find satisfaction in sesame pancakes and tofu migas." - Matthew Lombardi

This. Place. Is. Amazing. Walked in and was already feeling super relaxed. Such a friendly and positive atmosphere. They play really great zen type music that's not loud at all but you can hear it enough that makes it very nice. The food is AMAZING! So much to choose from. Whether you're vegan, vegetarian or not there is something for everyone. I definitely recommend this place to try out if you want breakfast. I have not had their lunch but I will be back for lunch sometime. They have awesome little cards with quotes on them that I'm sure you can take home. Inspiring words for those who like that stuff. All in all great experience. I WILL BE BACK! ❤️

The folks over at this veggie place in Fremont have really saved me since we've been in lockdown. All the takeout or deliveries I've ordered have been awesome. Super fresh and bursting with flavor. I haven't had a bad dish yet. The Penne Marinara and Vegan Chicken Kale Ceasar are my favourites. They also do great Enchiladas and their Thai stir fry is awesome.

The food is delicious and the staff is very nice. My favorite part though was that my server told me she didn't like vegetables when I was asking her for suggestions, haha, it was cute. I ended up getting the artichoke heart tofu scramble and the cashew gravy is just too good.

Interesting theme. Food was really good and service was friendly. We got there around 11am and here wasn't much wait but it started getting really busy around 11:30-12 so come earlier

Grand reopening and I will definitely be back. Food was solid, staff was very friendly and inviting, and the redone space is bright and clean.

This vegetarian (not vegan) restaurant is a great value, clean, has great service, and the food is straightforward and uniformly good. The "neatloaf" is one of their signature items and is great with their vegetarian gravy. They also serve great breakfast classics like omelets and waffles. Nothing is greasy or tastes like a dirty griddle. The portions are reasonable and manageable in size which makes it possible to try more things in one sitting. The bright and cheerful environment is not as noisy as you would expect, even when it is packed. They also seem to turn over tables quickly - we have never waited more than 10 minutes, even on weekends.
