Went here for date night and the atmosphere was very cozy. The food was delicious and I really enjoyed this place. Thinking of going back for our anniversary in a month or so. Below is the Baked Trout and steak n chicken kabob’s. 😋

Absolutely amazing! I came here with my partner the first time and we got the meal for 2. It came with plenty of rice, a greek salad, and skewers for $40, which is a great price! The service was top notch, I came back today with my friend and we got the same server as last time and he was very attentive and kind, I really appreciated the quickness of everything. Overall an amazing place, and great prices. And lastly the best rice I’ve ever tasted!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Silk Road Restaurant in Walnut Creek, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish! The ambiance of the restaurant is welcoming and elegant, with a perfect blend of modern décor and traditional elements that create a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for both intimate dinners and larger gatherings. The menu is a delightful journey through the rich and diverse flavors of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. Every dish we tried was a masterpiece, bursting with authentic flavors and made with the freshest ingredients. The Shish Kebabs were cooked to perfection, tender and juicy, with a delightful chargrilled taste. The Falafel was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with a tangy tahini sauce that perfectly complemented it. And the Baklava for dessert? Simply divine—sweet, flaky, and utterly satisfying. What truly sets Silk Road apart, though, is the impeccable service. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that every aspect of your dining experience is top-notch. They are knowledgeable about the menu and are more than happy to offer recommendations based on your preferences. The extensive wine list and specialty cocktails also deserve a mention. We enjoyed a beautifully balanced wine that perfectly complemented our meal, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. Overall, Silk Road Restaurant is a gem in Walnut Creek. Whether you're a fan of Middle Eastern cuisine or new to it, this restaurant will leave you enchanted and eager to return. Highly recommended! I hope that captures the essence of your wonderful experience at Silk Road Restaurant!

Absolutely delicious!!!!! Complimentary bread and dipping, huge portions, reasonable prices. Bread is fresh out of the oven, all food is prepared to order, nothing is pre-made. Masterfully prepared, homemade quality food. Come hungry! Definitely will be back again and again.

Ordered the gyro platter and koubideh kebob. Not the best, but the hummus and bread were great. Generous pour of the wine. Outside patio has heaters.

Google
Paid Street parking. Patio seating available...however it could use major cleaning. Ok service Food took a while. However, it was well worth the wait. Large portions Amazing flavors Reasonable prices I recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

Google
Overall good experience, food was good, service was also. So yes overall its a nice place. They don't have a dessert menu though you will only get Bakalawa for dessert. Limited sitting spaces, I had a Chicken kebab which is really good little dry but tasted awesome.

Yelp
It was my first time at Silk Road yesterday for lunch. I ordered special #3 with the Greek salad instead of the Caesar salad. The dressing of the Greek salad was delicious, the hummus was tasty and the chicken kabob was cooked perfectly. It was very filling! The ambiance was nice and the service was great. Definitely worth a try!

R. A.

Yelp
Delicious affordable and healthy. Love the salads, gyros, and complementary pita bread and oil-vinegar dip with minced cucumber, garlic, tomato, onion.

Yelp
So my friends and I returned to this restaurant a second time. I had so much anticipation for the foods that were fantastic. I was cruelly disappointed. The appetizer that the waiter said was tabbouli didn't taste at all like it did before. I couldn't figure out what was missing. It was still OK but not party-in-my-mouth, take-a-bath-in-it delicious. I decided to try the pomegranate chicken and was disappointed. I could hardly taste any pomegranate and there wasn't much sauce either. Like the chicken piece had been dipped in it and then plated. The garlic mashed potatoes were edible. Not quite mashed enough, hardly tasted of any garlic at all. I'm starting to think that those Yelp reviewers who complained of lack of flavor in the food were not wrong. All the food today was clearly under-seasoned. Whoever was in the kitchen either had a definite fear of salt or did not taste the food while cooking. It's a shame. What is the reason for so much inconsistency? I wonder if the real chef had the day off? Both days we dined were Wednesdays. Yelpers can see into the kitchen from the dining room so take note of who is cooking and whether the food is good that day. It is worth going to on the days when the food is great. Our waiter was very nice so service was good.

Yelp
Delicious!!!! I had some catering done for a few people that came over and I was pleased with the quality of food and service over the phone. Really awesome

Yelp
Servings were small. My husband's $25 chicken kebab and my $30 was on the small side. Not a value. They did give flat bread and tapenade as an extra. That was nice. My moussaka had no béchamel sauce. . And was sooo salty. The baklava was flavorless. My husband said his kebab and rice was delicious.
google avatar

Kijana Q.

Yelp
This restaurant was small, like a hole in the wall, but it was well lit and clean. The food came out quick and piping hot and was packed full of flavor from all the spices. The fennel in the pita bread was top notch, especially with the balsamic, oil, veggie dip it was served with. The hummus had a punch of cumin that I really enjoyed as well. The service was just okay, our waiter was on his phone a lot and we had to call for him 4-5 times before he realized we needed assistance, which is why the 4/5 instead of a 5/5. All-around the food was good quality, but I dunno if we will be going back.

Yelp
It was not the lunch hour so we were apprehensive. We went there at 3:00pm. They had seating in the sun porch, it was almost like being in a cafe in Istanbul or Athens... They served a plate size hunk of nan (flatbread) with a dip that we ate right away- delicious and warm. The waiter was efficient and helpful, since we are vegetarians we had the platter which had a variety. The food was delicious!

Samantha W.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was odd but the way the protein and rice were cooked were excellent.

Yelp
Pros: friendly service Clean bathroom Accepts credit card Cons: ok food

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner with some friends here recently! I know this area gets packed on the weekends, but this was a rainy weeknight, and we were able to get seated and served quickly! On to the food! Everything we had was amazing! The flat breads with the dipping sauces were great. The hummus and baba ghanoush were yummy as well. My main course was the lamb chops, and they were flat out delicious! It had been a minute since I had some lamb, and my craving was definitely satisfied! The service here was amazing as well. I'd definitely come back again!
google avatar

Yelp
The filet mignon was shmackin! Don't forget to sprinkle the suma on top! Shoutout to Gavino for the grade A service
google avatar

Nicole E.

Yelp
Food was amazing! Everyone cleaned their plates! The service was nice and low key and he did a great job anticipating our requests. The outdoor seating area was open and airy and was the topping to a great meal.

Yelp
This place was not in the plans, belittled we are sure glad we decided to come in and eat here. Vibe was very good ate in the outdoor dining area and the the heaters they had kept it very cozy on a very cold night. Food was delicious and the serving sizes were pretty big so I definitely enjoyed that. The pita bread they give at the beginning was super good. Took a bunch of pics of the entire menu if you are interested.

Yelp
I was craving Persian food. So we tried to go to Kabob House, but after stopping by we learned that they were a to go only business now. So instead, we decided to stop here, as I remember it's the same owners as the folks who used to own Pomegranate. But boy has this place changed. To begin, we walked in and felt totally ignored for a bit, then the waiter told us we could sit wherever... so we sat in their outdoor/indoor area. There was a huge dent in our table which seemed to be painted with nail polish and the menus were a bit eclectic with various fonts and colors. The waiter arrived and we ordered- I ordered the chicken kabob and koobideh combo and my husband got the gyro wrap. I asked for dough and they did not have it. We were shortly surprised with a delicious warm flat bread and a really garlicky sauce. The bread was really good. Then we got our food. My husband liked his gyro and the fries were really good. My koobideh tasted authentic, the rice was also really good. The chicken kabob was not what I expected and I personally did not like it, the veg was odd and despite stating that the dish came with grilled tomato- it did not ( I even asked). I was bummed. Overall the meal was ok. The restaurant is due for some major upgrading and it feels dirty inside.

Yelp
Strolling down Main Street in Walnut Creek we happened upon this great little Cafe. Nice covered patio (it was raining) Friendly greeting, Our server ( who I believe is the owner) was terrific. Starts with a delicious house bread and dipping oil. We split a Greek Salad, she had the Falafel Sandwich, me I went with the Lamb Kebab, it's served with Basmati rice, grilled tomato and the daily veggie. I could eat this every day, meat was delicious. A glass of house Red to wash it done. Nice meal and never felt rush. Fabulous Find.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while driving through town! What a gem! We ordered the hummus to start. The pita is freshly baked and you can absolutely tell!! The chicken kabob was so flavorful!! Highly recommend this place!!

Michael A.

Yelp
Great for stopping by for lunch. Gluten free choices and very good seafood. Nice table outside .

Sylvia C.

Yelp
Hidden gem in WC. Was surprised the whole place was empty on a beautiful afternoon. Pomegranate chicken is delicious.

JoAnn L.

Yelp
I was craving moussaka last night so we ordered on DoorDash. It was terrible. There was no bechamel sauce, no potatoes, no discernible cheese, one sliver of eggplant atop a thick meat sauce. Moussaka should be a layered dish but this was more of a casserole. The seasonings were well-balanced. I ordered the veggies as the side and they were delicious. My husband ordered the moussaka with mashed potatoes but his order came with the veggies as well. Very disappointed.

Carson M.

Yelp
I love this place. Moved to Walnut Creek a few months back and this has already turned into our go-to date night spot. Warm pita and dipping sauce brought to your table right when you sit down. Hummus is also excellent. The Silk Road plate for two is a great value with a ton of food and all 3 meats are super flavorful. Not to mention the service and ambiance are also top notch. Come on the right night and you might get complementary baklava too! Definitely would recommend if you're looking for authentic Mediterranean food.

Ekaterina P.

Yelp
The Seafood Linguini should be renamed to 'Shrimp Spaghetti w/ Artichoke and Roasted Bell Pepper'. The seafood linguini dish isn't linguini but spaghetti, and instead of the sun-dried tomato it's supposed to have they use roasted red bell pepper. On top of that, there is a very hefty amount of artichoke which isn't a part of the description on the menu. They added a good amount of shrimp, so 2 stars, but there's a big discrepancy between what it says on the menu and what you actually get.

Yelp
I was happy to hear they were opened on the 4th. I've been coming here for years. Each time, they're always consistently good. From their quick efficient service to the quality of their food. The kebabs are my go-to. Always seasoned well. Veggies are flavorful along with their piping hot, fluffy saffron rice. The fam both got pomegranate chicken...1/2 chicken, super crispy skin with just the right amount of pomegranate sauce, a side of Yukon mashed, and Veggies. Their flat bread and dipping sauce is a fav of mine. Fresh and tasty

Yelp
The food was amazing - I had the pomegranate chicken and my husband had the lamb shank. Both cooked so well - so tender and juicy. Definitely recommend those two dishes! The sides were the same for both dishes: mashed potatoes with steamed vegetables. As probably expect by many, it's hard to mess up mashed potatoes so those were delicious. The vegetables were nothing special; I kinda feel like it needed more seasoning. The only not so fun part was that my father-in-law found hair in his vegetables. At first, the server seemed so nonchalant about it - didn't even take his plate back to the kitchen. Then moments later just said that it's not their hair because it was curly black hair. None of us had curly black hair - my father-in-law has gray hair and his plate didn't go around the table. Their way of rectifying the situation was okay - gave baklava at the end and removed the plate from the bill. So three stars it is. We'll probably be back but also unsure- not owning up to the hair makes it tough. I don't wanna find hair in my food there.

Yelp
Was excited to come back here after 12 years and unfortunately Silk Road under delivered. Service was friendly however good quality was less than desirable. Over cooked salmon, pomegranate rosters Chicken was WAY over cooked. Again, service was good but food quality was missing.

Maria C.

Yelp
Our waiter Eric was extremely kind and attentive he made our experience even better than it already was. Extremely nice atmosphere and rain friendly outdoor dining area! Very amazing food as well. I loved this place!

Susan S.

Yelp
Delicious food but the service was not great and the dining area in the back wasn't very well kept.

Yelp
Pretty cute and awesome place in Walnut Creek. Silk Road did not disappoint. I placed a schedule online order for Sunday lunch, and the food was on time ready to pick up. We ordered the following - Pepperoni Pizza - small pizza for ~$16, but it was packed with flavor. Good cheese and pepperoni to bread ratio. Vegetarian Pizza - same as above, same size pizza. Garlic Prawns - tiny prawns on some greens. The person that ordered this ordered this appetizer as her meal, but it was rather small and not that flavorful. Gyros Platter - comes with an amazing amount of gyros, some lettuce with tomatoes and onions and sauce, and a side of pita. So good! Koubideh Kebob - 2 skewers of marinated ground beef kebobs with veggies and rice. It was $17, one of the pricier dishes we ordered. It would have been more worth it if it came with some sauces / yogurt sauce as the gryos platter. Side of Chicken Kebob - pretty standard, the kids enjoyed it. Sides of Gyros - I'm def getting some sides of gyros next time I come here. One side of gyros had the same amount of gyros as the gyros platter! So good.

Yelp
Silk Road is a gem tucked away in downtown Walnut Creek. Their food is an amazing Persian fusion, and the service is impeccable. Our waiter was incredibly attentive when we arrived and would not stop all night - and he was the only server of the night! It doesn't tend to be too busy and they seated us right away. I ordered the pomegranate chicken and it was delicious. The other kebabs looked and tasted amazing as well. I would definitely give Silk Road a try if you're ever in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice outdoor space, but patio has some cheap photo prints on wall for decoration. Service was fine...attentive. Food... Verrrry lack luster. Salad low average, salmon way over cooked/dry... eventhough requested" medium rare". Appreciated the service, but this won't be a repeat destination. Kitchen not up to snuff...

Yelp
Nice covered patio. The place could use an upgrade but it is bright and welcoming. Five of us had lunch on Tuesday. We ordered Lunch Specials #1, 2 and 3. Gabino was the only server but kept up with all the customers. We got the complimentary pita bread and dip. It was needed as the food took some time to come but Gabino graciously brought us a second plate. The lunch specials came with hummus to share. There was a lot of food and hardly anyone finished everything. The plates had salads with 1/2 sandwich and a kabob. My salad was excellent. The koobideh kabob lacked flavor but the chicken kabob sandwich was good. The Lunch Specials were very reasonably priced. Definitely recommended.

Yelp
My sister and I had dinner here last night. We sat in the outside dining area that was enclosed by a curtain and heated well. The food was excellent and the weight staff was very attentive and friendly.

Truc N.

Yelp
Taste very fresh and well flavored. Good serving portion. Affordable good house wines. Very friendly staff and attentive service. Have nice outdoor area for people watching. Locate in the heart of Walnut Creek on Main Street. Give them a try
google avatar

Yelp
This place was a favorite prior to the pandemic. However, this is the first time coming back to the establishment in a while. The portion sizes seem to have decrease since. Not only that, but the quality has decreased as well.
google avatar

Mary K.

Yelp
The food is that good at Sulk road and so is the service. I can believe I have lived here all these years, and have been missing out on this little treasure! Charming outside dining.. A must go to if you are in Walnut Creek;)

Yelp
This is hands down my favorite place to eat! The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are very courteous and friendly! I've hooked each of my friends to this place each time I bring someone new!

Yelp
Great family restaurant...food is always top notch. This place has been in Walnut Creek a long time, let's all make sure it stays!

Yelp
Located on busy North Main St, Silk Road is primarily outdoor seating which is fine since weather is getting warmer. The overall ambiance (2/5) decor doesn't match the cuisine. Random sculptures, artwork, and archways that don't fit the Mediterranean theme. Additionally, outdoor tables and bathroom is not clean. Service (2.5/5) overall okay, forgot to bring a new glass of water to replace one that had lipstick stain on it. Nothing above average. Food and value overall (1/5) Chicken and filet plate (1.5/5) filet was tender. Overall plate was missing some herb or sauce like a mint yogurt or cilantro sauce. We asked for hot sauce and we were given buffalo hot sauce. Again, nothing authentic about that. Spicy gyro sandwich (1/5) didnt even finish it. Had a creamy sauce that was basically the buffalo sauce mixed with yogurt or some creme. Gyro was salty and pita tasted average store bought. As a gem of a place in terms of location, I would presume they'd make their own sauces and pita bread to make them standout as a local Bay Area restaurant. I would recommend Manakish (also in WC and has parking lot) if you want Mediterranean food and prices are reasonable with great portions and flavor.

Yelp
Silk Road is a reliably good spot for lunch or dinner. It's been here since I've lived in Walnut Creek (since 2008) and probably longer. That's saying a lot in a town where it seems to be a revolving door of restaurants. Located on Main Street, there's a covered patio as well as indoor seating to choose from. I've enjoyed the patio on nice summer days and it's a great spot for people watching. My go to is the grilled veggie sandwich which is packed full of zucchini, mushrooms, peppers, onions, mozzarella and their tahini like sauce. It's Mediterranean with a flair-they have your traditional kabobs and wraps but also flatbread pizzas, pasta and salmon dishes. The complimentary flatbread and dip is a nice touch as well. Service has been attentive and friendly each time I've visited. Hope they continue to stick around in the downtown dining scene

Alex S.

Yelp
Great location as we love Persian food and love to have it close by. The waiters were really nice, koobidesh was good, rice is good...but even though my wife's and my dish were supposed to have grilled tomatoes, they said they did not have any. So a restaurant whose primary dishes are to have grilled tomatoes, do not. Never going back! I suspect they'll close like Pomegranate if they continue with shortcuts, same owners. Too bad. I recommend you order from Kabob House instead, but can't eat inside still.
google avatar

Fyl R.

Yelp
Food was very good, the service was great, and the ambiance was comforting... unfortunately, they altered the tip. I give a tip to what I believe is deserved. When I checked my bank account, it was a different total. I don't mind giving tips at all, but it's just the principle of it. Beware of restaurants that does this.
google avatar

Hope B.

Yelp
I've been to this place a few times and it's always been good. My favorite time to come is lunch and I order from the lunch menu. The meats are tender (for the most part) and seasoned well. I've only had one "ok" experience which was during dinner. I ordered the combination chicken and Koobideh. The roasted tomato was amazing, the basmati rice with saffron were on point, the steamed vegetables were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately, the meats were a bit dry and over cooked. The service had been always great as the servers are friendly and take time to talk with you and make sure you're glass is never empty. Again, this is a Great Mediterranean restaurant and we definitely recommend it. Note: The parking is metered and it is w forced very aggressively by the meter maid. The parking meter takes coins and CC

Yelp
We've been going to Silk Road for years and it remains a gem in downtown Walnut Creek. We went there on a Saturday night, one night after we had dined at Lokanta, just a block away. What a difference between the two restaurants! I ordered the same dish from both restaurants, the Chicken Kabob dinner. Silk Road's dish was a knock-out! Tender, savory chicken, perfectly cooked veggies and pilaf. By contrast, the Lokanta chicken and the pilaf were very dry and almost tasteless. You can see from the photos that the quantity of food was quite different, even though the prices were very close to one another. The service at both restaurants was very good, with a slight advantage to Silk Road.

Parisa M.

Yelp
Eddie, our exceptional server at Silk Road, made our dining experience truly memorable. His impeccable service, genuine warmth, and amazing Farsi added an authentic touch to our lunch. Ask for Eddie when you visit--you won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Super tasty. I ordered the salmon and it came with vegetables and mashed potatoes, all of it was really good. The prices were totally reasonable too. We enjoyed our time here and certainly will be back.

Mike R.

Yelp
This has been one of our favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek for almost 20 years, until today. I'm wondering what happened. The pomegranate chicken was dry and tasteless, the garlic, mashed potatoes and grilled fresh vegetables are no longer included, the dolmas are no longer slightly sweet, but are now incredibly spicy, and the Nan bread was so hard and dry we couldn't eat it. I guess all good things come to an end .
