Yelp
To be certain, this is strictly a review for the bakery and not for the café. We didn't go in to the café, and therefore, we didn't try their food there.
We used to live in Bavaria, Germany, and we thoroughly enjoyed incredible breads at an ordinary neighborhood bakeries there. We were desperately wanting to find some good German bread locally. When I Googled for a German bakery, this location popped up. Also, after reading some Yelp reviews as I usually do before trying a new place, we decided to try this establishment. We were hoping to find some good ones at this "Old World Breads Bakery." Bakery and Café are located in an industrial area of Clarksville--it looks like an old brick warehouse building, and if you weren't paying a close attention to it, you may just pass by it (along College Street--Wilma Rudolph Blvd turns into it).
So that we can conduct an apple to apple comparison, we decided to get some brötchen (literally means little bread). We used to eat great brötchen in Germany, but our experience was sort of just OK here. It just didn't have the same crunchiness of crust. There was no auditory enhancement as you bite into their brötchen. Inside was nice and soft as it should be. It sort of reminded me of regular Kaiser roll you can buy at a local supermarket bakery.
We also purchased some pumpkin seeds and logger's rolls. Quite fortunately seeded multigrain bread was 50% off, so we also snatched it up. Though brötchen was somewhat disappointing, it wasn't a total loss.
Unless I get really desperate, I probably will not make an extra effort to go back to this bakery. I might try to go back and try the café out eventually, though. The take out menu had quite extensive offerings of items--pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, salads and breakfast items. Since it's a café and not necessarily a full-blown restaurant, there are no offerings of German dishes which was another disappointment for me.
