The pork and pepper soupy noodles and the chairman braised pork noodles were worth the price! The pork was well flavoured and the soup was seasoned well. The noodles were perfectly good. Once you receive the order which is very quick, I recommend that you let it sit for a couple of minutes and then start eating.

I love spicy food and dang @silkykitchennyc was spicy even when I just got the medium! Started sweating just a few bites into it. The flavor of the soup and the seasoning, as well as the rice noodles were yummy. The fish fillet however were kind of thick and overcooked. They have a few locations in the city and it’s another good and quick option for an easy but yummy Asian meal. I would like it more if they can provide non-disposable dishes and utensils for dine in customers! 🥺

I ordered the cattle fish pork ribs soup to go and when i got home and open the food, there’s a hair on the noodles. I don’t understand how they not see it when they pack and cover the lid of the container and on top of that, there was no cattle fish at all. How you advertise or put in the menu a “cattle fish” but you put something else on the order instead? It was a chopped squids and pork ribs like 3-4 pieces of it. $23 goes to the garbage. What a waste! I feel like I got robbed.

The food had a nice spice to it. We were a little confused by the menu and didn't get a thorough explanation of the dish. We ended up getting noodles in soup but would have preferred our dish with rice. Loved the decor! And they had a clean restroom to use 🙂 a big plus when you’re walking around Brooklyn.

Tbh ! Lovely ! My coworkers go here all the time and I finally caved in ! I got the pork belly today with rice. Luckily you can order this ti not be spicy 🙏🏾 (iykyk). Their spicy is really spicy ! I recommend 💯

Super authentic homey rice noodle bowls packed to the brim with delicious varieties of meats 🤤 there are spicy and non spicy options. My favorite is the braised pork and also the pork ribs and cuttlefish one!! Also def try the dumplings- crispy but juicy on the inside

One of my favorite quick Chinese “fast food” places. We got the beef over rice and hot and sour fish. Excellent and authentic flavor, great portions and well priced. The only thing I didn’t like was the white rice, it was too flaky and dry.

Heaven is a place on earth. And it is this spot. Can make any dish soup noodle rice or dry. Rice noodles since Hunan. So damn good!!! I got s11 rice noodle soup add egg. So satisfying!

Went here for lunch today with some coworkers and it was so good! I'd heard about Silky Kitchen multiple times because of social media, but I've never actually got to try it. I ordered the hot & sour vegetables (mild spiced) over noodles, and a coworker ordered the vegetable dumplings for us to share. The hot and sour vegetables come stir-fried with pickled cabbage, bamboo shoots, and green and red chillies, and it's the perfect blend of flavors. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the vegetable dumplings were surprisingly plump and juicy for something vegetarian. The pan-fried bottom added the perfect bite to it. The food was also out extremely fast, which I appreciated. It's counter service instead of a sit-down restaurant, which makes it easier if you're a group and you're all paying separately. The woman behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. There's a large communal table in the center of the restaurant,as well as some booth seating to the side, just so you know before going in to it. I had a really good experience going here for the first time, and the food was spot on! I'll be coming again.

We ordered the Hot n Sour Fish Noodle Soup, the Braised Pork Belly with noodles, and the beef tripe salad and overall, we were REALLY disappointed with the whole meal. I ordered the pork belly with dry noodles and the noodles themselves had absolutely no flavor to them at all. The braised pork belly is okay, but as someone who grew up with this, it's supposed to be both much more tender, and also have a lot more depth of flavor. It's basically just slightly salty and sweet, which barely qualifies it for what it's supposed to be. The hot and sour fish noodle soup was the biggest letdown though. The soup itself is SOOOO salty, and I mean overbearingly so. They just threw in a MASSIVE ton of pickled vegetable into the soup which just completely over salted it to hell. I think it was saltier than seawater. That, and the noodles, after adding the soup, were still super bland. It's almost as if none of the soup clung to the noodles at all. The fish was okay but that soup was inedible and the noodles were just not good. The beef tripe was okay but I've had better at other places. I honestly wish I could say better things about this place but it was just such a letdown.

There's an old adage that you don't want to eat in a Chinese restaurant if you don't see any Chinese people eating there. So I took it as a good sign that when I walked into Silky Kitchen, the seats were filled with Chinese people (bonus points because they were also speaking Chinese). So it isn't that surprising that Silky Kitchen is serving up some seriously tasty and authentic Hunan cuisine. The space itself is a clean and modern shop on Willoughby in Downtown Brooklyn, and they have a pretty tight menu a few apps, dumplings, and drinks, but mostly main dishes that are all available over rice, dry noodles, or soup noodles. This is the fast casual world we live in. The lovely girl behind the counter found out it was my first time, and recommended a couple of things for me. I ended up rolling with the Hunan Beef over dry noodles, and a side of the string beans. I asked for medium spicy, and she took one look at me and said that medium is pretty hot, and I should probably go with mild. I realize I may have a mild face, but I was a little offended...until I starting eating my food, and realized it was SERIOUSLY HOT. I don't know if she was playing a joke on me or saving my life, but mild was HOT. Also, seriously tasty. The string beans were a perfect side, and I dumped them all into my bowl (too much food for one sitting) to calm down the spice, which made the whole thing perfect. I'll be back to try more dishes, and I hate to say it, but I'll probably stick with mild.

Local high end hunan takeout chain. Their flavors are fantastic, make sure to get the soy sauce / vinegar / chili sauce to go with your order. My favorite is their stir fried chicken with chili paste, it's nothing fancy, just perfectly executed. Service is always super fast, though honestly I usually use their web page to place the to-go order 10 minutes before I get there, and it's waiting - super convenient. Space is always clean and nice, but I always eat takeout. NOTE: I *love* spicy food, even crazy hot spicy food, and I still typically get their 'Medium'. Their Spicy is legit nuclear (as hot as extra spicy thai food littered with birdseye chilis), so if you're craving that, enjoy, but otherwise, exercise caution.

The Hot & Sour Fish Soup Noodle is consistently fantastic here. The rice noodles are bouncy and are a light pairing to the rich, spicy, sour broth. The pickled veggies and suuuper tender fish are just the perfect additions. Pork & veggie dish is great too! The beef stew noodle soup is good and the beef is tender, but sometimes a bit too oily. One of my go to noodle soup spots!

Checked out this spot, which appeared fairly new. The restaurant is clean, small menu options and the pan seared dumplings was what I was looking to try. Went with the squash, mushroom and tofu pan seared dumplings and it was tasty. Nothing to blow my mind about but a great little snack. Would like to go back and try something else from the menu and hope they update it according to the season. Overall clean establishment and friendly staff.

Food is very oily, noodles are a tad overcooked, and the meat is way too tender. You have to be very careful when eating here or you will find yourself looking for the nearest bathroom. It was also very expensive, with or without all the add-ons. I would not quite recommend this one.

This is my new go-to spot for a fast, casual lunch or dinner serving Hunan Chinese cuisine. I'm always craving spicy food, and this place hits the spot. You can choose from a main protein dish, then a base (dry mixed noodles, noodle soup, or rice), and the spice level. I thought I had a high spice tolerance, but their food is truly spicy. Some of my favorites are the hot & sour soup noodles and the pork and pepper dry mixed noodles. I tend to stick with mild or sometimes medium spice levels. Make sure to try their silken tofu ice drink! Honestly, everything is so good here, and the prices are very fair for the generous amount of protein they give you.

Was curious to try as there seems to be at least one or two people eating here every time I passed by. Fast food like ambience but slightly pricey considering the type of restaurant it is. However portion is generous or fair for the price. I got the hunan style beef with dry mix noodles. Medium spicy. Noodles are slippery and easy to slurp down. Beef was ordinary. My favorite part actually was the vegetables- the crunchy texture and greens added texture and freshness. As for medium spicy (the cashier recommended mild or medium to start off as a first timer), it's a comfortable good kick- though I ended up adding chilly oil at home for more of a punch as someone who was craving spicy and likes spicy food in general. No GI upset. Additionally tried the sour plum drink. Tasted like Chinese herbal medicine (which I don't mind).

Hands down best Chinese food I've ever had. Usually you have food in other places really heavy full of oil and sugar. This place is light full of different flavors 10/10 recommend

My favorite lunch spot to go at work! I keep it pretty simple, usually just got for the chicken or pork with hot chilis. Started out getting medium the first few times but just couldn't hack, if you can take spice def start there. I find the mild isn't quite hot enough for me but they have chili oil on hand and I mix that in. It's the kind of place that drags me back no matter how many times I've been that week. They pile the food on, never skimp! Also the servers are always so nice and it's super clean and brightly lit. It's never super crowded, easy to have a chat or read! Def want to try more things on the menu!

Overpriced and poor taste. Beef noodles were so plain, lacked flavor and noodles were like spaghetti. They overloaded peppercorn on the Mapo tofu as well. Stay away and go to Xian's next door, which is consistently great. 1/5 stars

The Silky Kitchen's first location in Brooklyn! Located a few doors down from Xian Famous Foods, Silky Kitchen offers Hunan Cuisine. Walk up to the register and study that menu- there are 16 different mains to choose from and you can have it with dry noodles, as a noodle soup or atop a bed of rice. Noodles are rice noodles btw! You can also adjust the spiciness level (Mild, Medium, Spicy, Extra Spicy) My husband got the S2. Chairman Mao's favorite braised pork with rice, Medium spiciness and I got the S8. Pork and Pickled Mustard Green, with dry noodles and Mild spiciness. We ordered it as take out, and our orders were ready in like 10 minutes, very fast. Portions are generous, we are going to have leftovers! My Pork and Pickled Mustard Greens was very flavorful- I really like how the meat and the vegetables (red bell pepper, celery, bok choy and more!) complemented each other. The rice noodles didn't get soggy, which is really nice. I do admit, it was a little bit on the spicier side for me (my spice tolerance is really really really low) but the spice didn't overwhelm the flavors of the ingredients. My husband's Braised Pork was super tender and was really at that "melt in your mouth" level. While he did order a spicier dish, I almost felt like mine was spicier?! Maybe the richness of the pork belly they used cut the heat, idk. They have a lot of interesting options (pork liver, pig trotters, chicken gizzard... this is the good stuff!)

I love their whole menu. The sour soups & any stir fried over noodles are a must. Food comes out pretty quickly. Clean restaurant. A lil warning: apparently the mapo tofu is spicier than before? I overheard another patron saying that the new chef seems to be "meh" cause he made it spicier & it's not as good LOL

Also don't sleep on their Hunan tofu! I understand why they have multiple locations throughout the city. If I lived nearby one, I would order their spicy & sour fish noodle soup at least once a week. (P.S.) The spice level here definitely has that Hunan kick! We got the med level and it was decently spicy (which I looove).

I absolutely love their spicy and sour fish noodle soup, the portion is often big enough for me to split between two meals if I just add some extra noodles that I have in my pantry. The food is very flavorful and just up my alley when I need a pick me up during the week and I'm too lazy to cook

I just happened to walk by, today is the grand opening. everything is 50%. I certainly take advantage of it and order a lot of things to try.. the place is spotless, the service is efficient and the food is pretty tasty for fast food.

I was craving noodles (when am I not?) last night and my husband and I stopped by to check out Silky Kitchen during their soft opening! It's directly next to Xian Famous Foods, and while both serve primarily Chinese noodle dishes, they could not be any more different! Except for the spice levels, they both definitely serve up a LOT of spice. We ordered the S10: Hot & Sour Vegetable Gai Ma w/ dry noodles, S14: Braised Short Rib Gai Ma w/ soup noodles, and D3: Squash+Mushroom+Tofu pan-fried handmade dumplings. From the restaurant's website, gai ma is the topping that's served on top of their rice noodle or rice bowls, and you can pick from rice or rice noodle +/- soup with each menu option. My husband originally asked for medium spice, and they warned us that it's SUPER spicy so we kept both as mild. The food quality was okay, the quantity was also okay (except for S14, my bowl was wildly overwhelmed w/ short ribs), but overall nothing stood out enough to justify the high prices of nearly $20 for most dishes. While the rice noodles tasted nice and slippery, the bulk of the veggies looked like pan fried peppers and the dishes next door (and most other chinese spots nearby) are more flavorful! While they're still in their soft-opening stage, I can't help but judge some of the dumplings were blackened on the bottom and the system for calling out numbers could use some work. While there's a lot of seating, it felt oddly sterile and the wind blows all the way in when anyone enters. TLDR: Glad there's a spot for rice noodles here but the quantity/quality isn't matching the price point for me. FYI for vegetarians, S9/S10 (egg+veggies and veggies) confirmed as vegetarian by an employee.

This place is a great addition for Chinese cuisine in downtown Brooklyn. Their pork and seafood soup noodles and the sour and spicy fish noodles are my go to dishes when coming here. A definite must try that is unique to this restaurant especially in this neighborhood. The store is literally next to Xian noodle which makes it a tough decision when one is deciding on what noodles to eat for that day. Service is pretty quick here when it's not too busy and the layout of the store almost feels chipotle like. Definitely come try it when you get a chance.

Recently another spot open up by where I work. Food is not bad. Place is clean. Order here couple times. First time was the stewed beef with dried noodles. The beef was kind dried. It was mehh.. Then next one I ordered chicken which was good, so was the other dishes that I ordered, they are not bad. You order either with dried noodles, soup noodles, or rice. I like their noodles.. Overall not bad...

The food was average but the price was expensive! I figured they had lots of people in there so it must be good. If you're into spicy, it will probably be great. I had the beef with rice ( they only have white). I said no spicy and it wasn't. I think they only season with spice because the foods was bland. It was fresh and hot so that was a goods thing. Unless if this is what you're used to having, i would pass on this place. Almost 20 dollars for lunch and I threw out half of it. The ambiance is really nice. They don't really serve but the place is really clean so that was good as well. Not a good pick for me.

Had my first meal at Silky Kitchen here in dobro. It's really a five star place. I live a few doors down and really love all the new Asian restaurants and other establishments that have arrived in our neighborhood. I ordered the pork and celery dumplings- seriously they were very juicy, some of the best I've had very satisfying. We have a few good places for dumplings almost on the same block here, and these ones really compete. Also Ordered the Mao Pork over dry noodles- it was very good- I don't like the reference to the communist leader who caused so much hardship and murdered millions, but the dish was really lovely. The pork is quite fatty which adds a lot of flavor but some may want to take some of the fat off the meat to leave on the side. I got it mild, and could have used more spice, so added my own chili oil. True to the name of the establishment, the noodles were silky and perfectly cooked- holding the flavor of the other ingredients. Portion was large- I think other reviews described portions as adequate- this is a big meal- Staff were very nice and accommodating: place is super clean and the noise level is rather good- I was able to work at one of the tables. Really great addition to the neighborhood and I'm so grateful to have businesses like this come to the neighborhood.

Everything was delicious! My favorite was the spicy and sour fish and mapo tofu. It's hard to find great Chinese food in the city without going to Chinatown and flushing so this is an amazing hidden gem

Silky Kitchen was recommended by my granddaughter, Amber, it was my first time meeting her boyfriend Manuel (nice young man). This was a genuine Brooklyn New York experience all the way! Brunch menu contains various unique dishes that leaves your palate yearning for more more more The place is quaint and the service is great. Cocktails were top shelf and plentiful! Can't wait to go back!

such great portions and flavors for such a solid price for nyc!! love that you can basically make your own bowl with a carb and meat + sauce. i loved their dumplings, pork over rice and stewed beef! make sure to get their mapo tofu which is off menu but so delicious. glad to have them in the neighborhood for whenever i'm craving spicy

Food is overpriced, soup broth is bland, noodles are spaghetti-like and flavorless, vegetables uninspiring. I did like the pork belly however and the quick, no-frills ordering process. Interior is sparkly clean and modern.

This is a great addition to the area. The Hunan food is pretty authentic and can get really spicy if you ask for it! Portions are generous and the quality of the food is great. The Mao slow braised pork is definitely worth it!
