"One of the city’s newer Korean restaurants, Silla touts itself as “modern Korean,” which mostly seems to refer to the sleek, contemporary-looking dining room, though the food is also presented a little more elegantly than your average neighborhood Korean spot. The restaurant is known for its galbi tang, a rich beef short rib soup, and it also offers distinctive, harder-to-find dishes like yookweh (a sesame-oil-based beef tartare), oysters fried in an egg batter, and sizzling stone pots of eel-topped bibimbap." - Luke Tsai

Since I ate Rockin’s Roe in Um Ma in San Francisco, I am the fun for fish roe rices. It’s good to know Silla also has its version of fish roe rice. It is called Colorful fish roe and eel rice. Came to this place today and it did not disappointed me. Yummy! Comparing it with the one in Um Ma, this one has eel on it. Eel is also my favorite fish so it definitely adds value. Also because of the eel, the quantity of fish roe is less than the one in Um Ma. The pork tacos are also highly recommended. It tasted even better than the one in the Mexico restaurant.

New Korean restaurant among many Korean restaurants. Place is clean and newly designed. Staff are great. The side dishes s good but not the the best I had. The seafood pancake is great . The bibimbap is good but cold hoped it was served on a hot pot or hot plate like the other food

Worst Korean restaurant that I tried in South Bay area. Not sure how this restaurant received it's accolade. By modern Korean cuisine, they meant like it's instant food from the supermarket, plus adding a few pieces of gnocchi to their food. Food was bad and not value for money. Paid $26 for a miserable bowl of tteok-bokki which 'generously' included 2 thin slices of hotdog and some fishcake, and tasted like it came out of an instant pack. Beef soup also tasted instant, rice was stale. Even banchan was bad consistent with other reviews You have to wait minutes to sit, since no one is at the entrance or the reception. I just don't anything good to say about the restaurant. I'll definitely be staying away. Plenty of better Korean restaurants to spend my money on. Be warned.

We came in here 15 minutes before closing and they still let us in! Really a huge kudos to the kitchen staff for being so accommodating. We had no wait for a party of 6. Food: I got the beef bibambap and found that the amount of food was overwhelming and it was really nice to get a nice sizzle on the rice and a slight burn and the beef was super juicy and tasty! The appetizers were average but unlimited! Service: Definitely stellar service and we were checked in on a lot and had our tea refilled many times! Ambiance: Nicer casual restaurant, good ambiance for catching up and relatively quiet! Overall had a great experience and happy to get our Korean craving satisfied!

Good vibes and nice staff. I liked the food too (fish roe and eel rice), it was both delicious and colorful but it was burnt at the bottom of the dolsot and the portion was a bit smaller than what I expected.

EDIT: I've had the opportunity to try more items since my last visits: - Black bean noodles - Honey garlic bossam The staff is still pretty limited, but I'm super happy to see more customers trying this place out! The chef/owner (? Idk) recommended the jajang mian to us and told us it was an elevated version of the typical dish you'd find at other restaurants. I generally like this dish, so I was definitely excited to try it. He also mentioned that they were still considering whether or not to have it on the menu permanently, so he was looking for feedback. It did not disappoint! Chewy udon noodles, a small kick of spiciness, tender pieces of pork, plump pieces of shrimp, and fat chunks of squid made it an awesome experience. This was my first time trying bossam and it was pretty much what I expected. Pretty healthy while indulgent! I think I'll skip the honey garlic sauce next time, since the base sauce is already enough for me! ========== They are understaffed, so ring the bell when you come in if you want to be helped. Don't stand awkwardly or wander around, use the bell on the front desk! I've been here twice and tried the following: - Seafood pancake - Galbi Tang (grr carrots) - LA Galbi - Spicy Pork - Galbijjim The ban chan here is not my favorite, but their potato salad is really good with bits of pasta for texture. I wish the galbi tang didn't have carrots, but that's just me bc I am a child. The galbijjim has super tender beef, but it's not as buttery soft as the LA Galbi. The staff is quite nice and will answer questions that you might have. The food here is really good and I'm sure once covid is over, they'll be able to expand their staff and there will be a huge wait, so try them now while they're not as busy!😤

The servers were very fast, kind and efficient. I was very pleased with the service. The jook was absolutely delicious in terms of consistency and flavor, I was really happy that I ordered it. The bibambap was also well prepared and overall I had a great experience here. The A/C was a bit cold in the spot where we sat, but the combination of the hot food and getting used to it made it not an issue.

Google
Bright, clean interiors. Nice variety of banchan. The potato salad was my favorite! I shared the Spicy Kabocha Galbi Jjim with one other person. Not too spicy and had really tender beef. Only downside is that it is a bit on the pricey side but you do get what you pay for.

Yelp
Opted for Sila based on great reviews on Yelp as we were in the mood for Korean food. The setting is casual and nice. Surprised the menu did not have more options and the prices are steep!! There were only a couple of other tables with customers when we walked in around 6:30PM on a Friday night. It took a while to get the menu as there is no WiFi and the phone reception on two different carriers inside the restaurant is basically nonexistent!! So couldn't use the QR menu and got the actual menu from our server. The entire restaurant had one server ( tables started filling up fast), so attention to the customers and checking on drink refill or entree taste was basically not there!!! Had to ask for our server to stop by for water refills. Ordered the kimchi seafood pancake ($30!!!), short beef galbi and beef bibimbop. The meat quality was great, but portions are small and the prices are way too high for what you are served. Keep in mind that it is what they consider "Modern" Korean food and it has subtle differences from a regular Korean restaurant. Even the banchan were different. Instead of regular spinach, they had kale with tofu. There was a baby squash banchan we had never tried before... The seafood pancake was more crispy and felt like was more deep fried compared to other restaurants. All together it was a good experience, but won't be back as the service quality, the high entree prices compared to what you get is not worth going back. All together

Yelp
I'm not sure if "modern" describes the Korean food here at Silla, as the food takes on traditional flavors and traditional approaches. Perhaps the "modern" is the approach in how the food is made or a twist in the flavor complexes? Either way, it was good. Just felt like traditional Korean food that was made well. We ordered a number of classic dishes and they were all made well. Wifey ordered, so other than Kim chi pancake, galbi-jin, cold bean noodles, and bibimbap, I can't really say what else was ordered. Came as a party of 6, including a baby, and the host/ owner was very nice. Greeted with a smile and food promptly brought out, he was great at making sure we had what we needed. We visited at around 6:00 and was the first party in the door. More eventually filtered in as I feel like this place focuses on dinner and more of the late night crowd. Ample private lot parking right next to the restaurant off El Camino.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! In town for the Eras Tour and decided to check this place out since it was relatively nearby our hotel. We went in around 9pm and it wasn't too busy so we were seated immediately. The inside is pleasant. It's super clean and decorated well with numerous cute neon light signs on the wall. The food... YUM! My sisters, my bf, and I all decided to share three dishes: seafood scallion pancakes, K-Army Stew, and LA Galbi Ribs. Seafood Scallion Pancakes: YUM! Both my sisters agreed this was their favorite thing. It came out first and WOW was it a way to open our meal. It was simultaneously slightly crisped and it melts in your mouth. LA Galbi Ribs: My boyfriend and I's favorite of the night. It was seasoned so well and it was nice and tender!!! It came out with banchan as well! K-Army Stew: So solid. This was so great to share. It comes out with a propane burner, almost like a mini hot pot. Because if this, it stays the perfect temp throughout the meal. A comforting soup filled with spam, korean sausage, rice cakes, beans, ramen, and topped with cheese. The broth is on the sweeter side and we all really enjoyed it. Once you slurp all your ramen, enjoy the rest of the broth with the purple rice they provide!!! The service was good! Everyone was very friendly. You're given a pitcher of water so you can feel free to pour yourself water when you run out. There's also a call button if you need your server, which I don't usually see in restaurants. Everything was so good and I can definitely see myself coming here again if I'm ever in the area.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant for bossam in the Bay Area! Perfectly prepared pork belly, a variety of side dishes, fresh butter lettuce, and radish wraps? SO DELICIOUS! It was also enough for two of us to share. I will definitely come back to try their garlic version (+$4). The owner was so kind and attentive. He told us a lot about the restaurant and chatted with us respectively. This is definitely a hidden gem you want to try out in Santa Clara.

Berna G.

Yelp
Beef tofu stew was the star dish at dinner here! It was a freezing night so this definitely hit the spot. Generous amount of beef in this and the silken tofu took on the flavor of the stew. It was so good I forgot to get a photo. To celebrate their Mercury News Top 50 Bay Area Restaurant Award, our server brought out a complimentary off-menu corn dish! It was sweet and spicy, with the strong scent of warm brown sugar and balanced with a kick of gochugaru. My group and I originally came in to try their bossam but unfortunately, it's overall rating fell short. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better. The pork belly itself was seasoned well and beautifully presented. It had that melt in your mouth texture. I think the wraps and fixings could've been better, it felt very limited to me. For its high price point, I wasn't blown away by it. The prices were surprisingly very high for the dishes, so I would suggest checking out the menu before coming here. It's definitely more of a contemporary casual dining experience with a somewhat modernized take on Korean dishes. The ambiance is very calm and trendy here, they have modern decor including neon Murakami flowers and kpop playing over the speakers. Huge private parking lot here too.

Yelp
I was really craving some Bossam and heard Silla Modern Kitchen was a solid option to get my fix. We stopped by on a Friday during lunchtime and was the second party to eat inside. We ordered their Bossam ($49+4 extra for garlic) and the seafood scallion pancake ($26). The seafood scallion pancake was phenomenal- it was so crispy and contained a good amount of seafood bits in every bite. The bossam arrived with freshly washed lettuce and some picked radish. It was very flavorful, especially when you add the hot sauteed garlic on top. I will say it seemed quite pricey for just two fairly normal Korean dishes with standard portions. I only had 2 pieces of the pancake to bring home and we finished the rest of the food with ease. I was also pretty disappointed in their banchan- it looked really nice with a few varieties, but it all tasted pretty bland. I ended up skipping most of it and focused on the dishes we ordered. Overall, I'd still probably come back just to have their seafood scallion pancake again and maybe try some other dishes on the menu. The service was nice and attentive and I think going on a weekday for lunch is a good call since it wasn't busy.

Faye R.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday so I don't know how it it during the weekend. Place is nice quiet and family friendly. I came here with a friend for dinner. There were several tables about 3 tables occupied for a weekday dinner, but I am there to see if food is good. I wished my dish had more meat. It was mostly rice but I was disappointed because it was good. Just wished more meat portion than rice. What we truly enjoyed was the Korean pancake. That one was for sure a winner. Sides where ok.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I came around 9pm after venturing by valley fair after she found this place on yelp with high reviews. It's very easy to find and has a ton of parking upon arrival. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated very quickly. The decor and ambience of the restaurant was very cute. You'll see on their walls decor much catered to those that like to take pictures for instagram and the restaurant inside was very clean. When ordering food, it felt a bit rushed to us as an older gentleman that worked there recommended us some items on the menu with his take on some of the food and what he noticed was popular. We went with his recommendation for the main by quickly deviated to a shareable item that looked tasty on yelp. The dinner menu is left with small choices, with shareable items ranging from pork/beef bulgogi tacos, spicy pork quesadilla, and seafood or kimchi pancake. From the shareable list, we ordered the pork bulgogi tacos which I highly recommend. The pork was marinated very nicely and the spicy cream sauce that comes with it paired nicely with the savory and sweetness of the pork. Even the flour tortilla was cooked nicely with a bit of a nice toast at the base of the taco to give it a nice footing for the taco. The tacos also come with a healthy amount of lettuce. The serving also comes in as 3 pretty large tacos and for $13. It's a little on the pricy end but we'll worth it. In addition to our shareable item, we also ordered a main entree. The menu has a a variety of mains that ranged from stews that were in the style of army stew styles, seafood/beef stews and bbq styled proteins that ranged on the much more expensive end, typically from $30 being the least expensive to $60 being the most expensive main. We ended up ordering the better than cioppino which was a combination seafood stew that had all the main suspects of a proper seafood stew: mussels, baby octopus, clam, cod, shrimp and rice cake spicy and savory stew. The stew itself was delicious, and ended up being the right amount of spice and thickness. However, the seafood seemed over cooked and not very fresh. When inspecting the mussel, you can still see some of the undigested food upon capture which we picked out and decided not to eat. The octopus when over cooked loses that chew and becomes too rubbery. Finally, the clams were small in size and didn't add much to the dish. Because we also liked to enjoy our food, the desire to keep the hot plate/bowl warm throughout the meal was much needed. As we kept eating, we noticed the stew took to the restaurant's temperature rather quickly and it became a bit cold and the thickness was less desired as we continued eating. Maybe we were eating a bit slowly but definitely savoring our meal. Overall, the Asian fusion dishes were greatly appreciated and was the best highlight of the meal. The service was quick and we had an easy access to the service with a call button, and the environment was nice. Unfortunately, the better than cioppiono doesn't live up to it's own name. I've never had cioppiono, but the feeling my girlfriend and I had a few hours after the meal was a bit unsettling. We were left feeling a bit nauseated after eating the heavy stew and undesired over cooked/not fresh seafood options. If you decide to come, my recommendation would be choose any of the shareable taco/quesadilla choices. The other items, at least at that price point, doesn't hold it's value and worth. I'm being very generous here and giving this place 3/5. I'd typically want to give something like this 2/5; especially on how I'm feeling a bit nauseated, but the quick service, accessible parking, nice decor, and delicious tacos; I'm all for rounding up to a 3/5.

J Christian E.

Yelp
Love this place! The pancakes are a must-order. I repeat a must order!!! The service is super friendly and the older gentleman had some funny stories to tell. I definitely will be coming back as the food is amazing. The short ribs fall off the bones so easily and is seasoned nicely.

Yelp
Silla Modern Korean offers many of the favorite Korean dishes with their own twist... hence the "modern" I came here on a Friday night because it was one of the few places that had reservations and accommodations for a large party last minute. We were seated promptly and given plenty of time for our party to arrive and order. For food...we got the -galbi jim with cheese: classic favorite, it comes with the normal galbi/ beef short ribs but I love how they add glass noodles and shrimp as a special addition. -seafood pancake: love the thin crispy noodles flour/noodles(?) to make this dish extra crispy, reminds me of this one KBBQ joint in Orange County that does this, highly recommended, and probably my favorite -spicy rice cake: good but not my personal favorite in general... so I'm not the best person to review this lol -black bean noodles "gangnam style": honestly we ordered this because we misunderstood the waiter and thought they said they would dance for us if we order this dish...but they were actually trying to tell us that it's soo good that it would make us want to dance. whoops, but it ended up being one of our favorite dishes. I personally love how the black bean sauce is premixed and stir-fried together. -army stew: it was good but I don't recall anything special about this dish haha Unfortunately it is overshadowed by all the many other great dishes. Overall I enjoyed this place. The service is great, and there wasn't a dish that I hated.

Yelp
I was excited to try Silla tonight for the first time! I had seen lots of photos on yelp that looked really good, so I was looking forward to finally trying it. When we arrived, the waitress brought us a menu and informed us we could order using the QR code on the table. I like how the digital menu included photos of the food. It was helpful in deciding what to eat. We ordered the Colorful Fish Roe and Eel Rice, which was assorted fish roe and eel slices in a hot stone pot. I love how the rice at the bottom was crispy and how the eel was super flavorful. It was hot and so good. I would definitely order this again. We also ordered the Spicy Fusion Beef Stew, which was beef in a spicy beef broth with egg. It came with Japchae inside. The beef was very tender and delicious! The soup had a sausage-y taste which was very yummy! Both dishes came in a stone pot so they both stayed hot the entire time! The sides were also really good. We got to enjoy them before the food came and throughout our meal. In addition, the waitress was very kind and made sure to refill our hot teas. I had a wonderful first experience here and am excited to return again soon. If you're in the mood for a delicious Korean meal, this is the perfect option!

Yelp
my friend told me about this place and said there was really good ciopinno here, so that was the only thing I got here! I came here on a Thursday night with a friend, around 7pm. I feel like there were less than 20 people there. the dining area has some booths and some tables set up. We got seated in a booth right away. they said we could order via the QR code, but I think since it was so slow, they still came up and asked us our order. We got the ciopinno to split between the both of us, soju, and a beer. They brought over banchan per person (portions of banchan on a plate per person), and some hot tea. banchan was some fish cake, bean spouts, japchae, mash potato, kale and pickled radish. The chef brought the ciopinno over and was explained how to set it up. He brought over an external burner and placed the pot of ciopinno on top. It was already heated up, but he said to let it sit for another 3-5 minutes right before it is boiling so eat. Then can shut off it is too hot. It felt like he cared a lot about his cooking and making sure his guests like it too! The ciopinno was delicious and was filled with clams, mussels, fish, squid and udon. The broth/sauce was tomato-ey and had a little bit of gochujang spicy taste! I wish there were more ways I could slurp it up. The chef came by and also brought us some purple rice to go with the ciopinno. One ciopinno was enough for two people. We wished we could have tried more things! As for interior, I felt like half of the restaurant (main room) gave off a quiet nice weeknight dinner, and the other half (a separate room) gave off a very pocha k vibe, with soju and neon signs at the doorway. I can see it getting loud and drunkish vibes, which is not a bad thing! Parking lot is big enough for the establishment, but its pretty hard to find this spot! It does not really have a sign to show you the parking lot or the restaurant, you have to just kinda use your google/Apple Maps to guide you into the correct lot! and even then.... I wasn't sure I was going to the correct place because there wasn't a sign at the door either!

Yelp
Really tasty food. The service here was very good. Super friendly service. We took the chefs recommendation after he told us that the didn't serve bossam until dinner time. A little disappointed but the recommendation he gave was superb. Would definitely come back again. You are seated at a table and then scan a QR code to see the menu. Place your order and pay through your phone and then they bring out the dishes you ordered along with some banchan

Yelp
Went here with my good friends to celebrate a birthday and was pumped up due to to the almost 5-star rating. Here's my thoughts: 1.) Location: If you use Google maps, prepared to be confused. Google maps will take you into another plaza and through a broken alley to get to this restaurant. I was so confused at the directions but it was correct in the end. As such, follow the process (even through that weird alley) and you will arrive at the right place. 2.) Cell Reception: Cell reception in the restaurant was horrendous. I use T-Mobile and my friend had AT&T and we had issues. Since COVID, most restaurants have adopted the "Scan QR Code" and order/pay online as a way for contactless service. Since reception was so bad, we had to ask the server to take our order instead in the traditional way. Just a heads up in case you also run into issues. On to the fun stuff.... 3.) SERVICE: Service was really good. There's a button on the table (like other Korean restaurants) in case a server is not available and you want to let them know you need help. The chef also personally served the food and was hilarious and super nice. They really got the social interaction things down with the customers and we had a good time. Great first impression on this area. 4.) FOOD: This restaurant I believe is a Korean Fusion restaurant. As such, each item has their own unique twist to them. We went with the servers recommendation on what to get and we settled on the following: a.) Banchan The free side dishes that came with the meal. I'm not a big fan of the fact that they put all the banchan in one long plate. I like it in separate side dishes so its easy to swap in and out in case you want a refill. Also, the side dishes variety was only 4-5 which is a lot less than I'm use to. b.) Seafood Pancake I always order this as this is one of my favorite dishes and they did a great job here. Possibly one of the top 5 I've eaten around. It was crispy on the outside and juicy/tender on the inside. c.) Galbijim Mild with Cheese Pretty sizable bowl with a ton of meat. Most of the meat was tender but some were pretty hard to chew that we ended up not eating. We added cheese on top which was cool and they came by with a flame torch to melt the cheese which was entertaining to watch. d.) BTC (Better than Cioppino) This is their signature dish and I thought it was cooked well. I wouldn't say this blew my mind or anything but it was a solid stand-alone dish that I think most people would like. Overall I think it was a good experience and I need to come back to try out some of the other dishes.

Angela T.

Yelp
All I can say is WOW!! Better than cioppino-- soooo tasty, so good! Did I mention we got this as take out!? Don't get the kalbi tang and better than cioppino together though -- the better than cioppino overpowered the taste of kalbi tang. I think they both taste great on their own. Take out order kept well too (home is over an hour away). I guarantee you've never had something like this from a Korean restaurant before. I highly recommend! Especially if you like seafood. It's not spicy, just super flavorful.

Yelp
Silla is wonderful! It definitely deserves more hype! My boyfriend and I came on Christmas day, as it was one of the only restaurants open in the area (which I appreciated - thanks to all of the staff who worked that night). We shared the bulgogi and the tofu stew, and it was just right for both of us! I wish I took pictures of the food but my phone was dead during my dining in. It was very appetizing. I especially loved the sides, as they came out on a cute aesthetic plate and were prepared very neatly!

Hannah S.

Yelp
This is my favorite place for Korean- the food is fresh, good portions, and always delicious. Top favorites: - Better than Cioppino (BTC) which is a warm, hearty seafood dish perfect for cold and rainy days. This is a dish I haven't really seen anywhere else, so if you're looking for something unique (and delicious), this would be my pick. - Galbi jjim - sweet and savory hunks of beef and stewed vegetables - great for sharing with friends. - Bibimbap - classic mixed vegetables / protein / rice! Great way to get in your veggies :)

Tina L.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came for dinner on a Tuesday night and I was sad to see how empty it was! They definitely deserve more customers. The person helping us was soo nice and accommodating. We ordered the galbi jim and it came out within 15 minutes. The galbi jim came with shrimp which was new to me, sweet potato noodles and lots of sweet potatoes/yams. There were also a few rice cakes! The flavor was incredible: so sweet and savory and delicious! I do believe the flavor is comparable if not better than Daeho and it costs less too. We also loved all the side dishes and the purple rice. Overall, this spot definitely deserves more love! Definitely try it for that galbi jim :)

Yelp
Silla is one of those special spots that does fusion food really well but still does Korean food justice. I've had their Better Than Cioppino dish before and was blown away by how flavorful and packed with seafood the stew was. I recently ordered some takeout from them, and was blown away. Firstly, I love that they offer japchae as a banchan. My favorite item was their Kimchi Pork Quesadilla, and it means a lot coming from someone who doesn't normally gravitate toward quesadillas. The dish had a hefty amount of pork, and the tortilla was perfectly chewy. The kimchi also cut through the cheese and helped balance it out. We also got the Beef Tofu Stew, which had a deeper, savory flavor than most tofu soups I've tried. The LA Galbi Box was good. Not the best short ribs I've tried, though this is still a pretty good deal for the price. The workers and owners here are really kind and hardworking. For great fusion Korean food, I'd say Silla is definitely a win.

Sandy L.

Yelp
If you're a garlic and bossam lover, I highly recommend their garlic bossam. It's mouthwatering and amazing. We've also tried their tofu stew and their galbi tang too. They were both pretty solid. During both visits, we came during peak dinner hours on the weekend and there was no line to be seated, which was nice.

Yelp
My bf and I came here Friday evening around 9. There weren't many customers around which should've been a red flag from the getgo. Although service was quick because of this, we were pushed to get recommendations and help on our order. Although getting recommendations is appreciated, it felt like we were pressured to order right then. We ordered the spicy pork tacos and the BTC by recommendation. When the bonchan came out, it all tasted odd. They all tasted plain, not pickled, with a weird bitter after taste. The spicy pork tacos was ok. However the taco shell was not warmed and the there wasnt enough filling to fill every bite of the taco. The pork wasn't that hot either. The flavors were decent however through the use of sauces. The ultimate disappointment was the better than cioppino. Although the flavor of the soup is good when hot, it became gross within 15 minutes as the pot became lukewarm. It definitely needs a way to keep hot. The seafood inside was especially disappointing. It didnt take long for the seafood to come out but I know there's something wrong with the prep in the back. The fish was tough, dry, and old as if they cooked the fish a long time ago and threw it in the cioppino. The octopus, mussels, and calamari all tasted overcooked and rubbery as if they've been sitting around for a while. At the very least it did not taste fresh at all. There was 1 mussel that had undigested food in it meaning that it was long since dead before reaching our table. My bf and I both woke up the next day feeling uncomfortable and nauseated. I know my stomach was moving to push this stuff out. Maybe minor food poisoning but nothing major. With such an over expensive price point I expected something a lot more quality. I would expect the BTC to have fresh and properly cooked seafood for 52 dollars and the pork tacos to be filled enough for every bite to be enjoyable for 13 dollars. Definitely would not risk coming back over other k restaurants that are consistently properly prepping their food.

Yelp
Modern and upscale place. I was craving Korean food so we decided to come here. I didn't want Korean BBQ but more just the regular entrees + ban chan hence we decided to come here. Plenty of parking and we showed up shortly after they opened at 5pm. QR code and you can order everything and pay. There is a service button if you need anything. Ice water came promptly. Baby Octopus and Squid Bokkeum (SPICY) $35 - My husband ordered this. The octopus and squid was tender and still held its shape. Spicy but not crazy. Comes with a bowl of rice. Big portions - my husband had the left overs for lunch today. Beef Pancakes $19 - Used to the seafood pancake but never had the beef pancakes. ~6 pieces. Not oily at all which is nice. Comes with this BOMB sauce. We took two home and they even gave us a new container of the sauce! Still delicious today for lunch. Colorful Fish Roe and EEL Rice $23 - I have been craving eel over rice. This was very good. The rice is the purple rice. Craving satisfied. Overall, delicious and the service is on point. Very clean as well. Definitely, a place you can take a date. It is on the pricey side.

Yelp
Silla is honestly underrated. I'm still dreaming about the delicious bibimbap that I had here. The neon signs and art on the walls put a smile on my face, and the endless cups of warm tea and wonderful customer service added a layer of comfort. I especially appreciate that the wait staff wasn't constantly coming up to our table. We could enjoy our meal at our pace and request help when we needed it by pressing the bell on our table. This place genuinely deserves more customers and I'm personally looking forward to coming back again soon. Thank you for a lovely meal!

Yelp
Came on a Saturday relatively hungry so maybe a little biased. The cleaning of tables is a bit slow, they clearly had a lot of empty tables but weren't cleared off from the prior dine-in party. There are two 'parts' of the restaurant with the kitchen in the middle. Not an open-kitchen setup, but just that it's a very spacious place in a big parking lot. Yes, k-pop music clearly playing in the background to lift the mood, with a smaller wall of fake greenery/flowers on the other side with marukami's smiley flower icon and the korean heart hand that's made for IG. The server made a joke saying I should've sat on the other side so I can take a pic with that in the background. Haha ahjussi, alright, plus points for engaging in friendly convo. Onto the food, ordered the seafood pancake and eel stone rice. The pancake had the nice crispy edges without the feeling of being drenched in oil while the eel sauce was honestly a bit too much but the rice balances out the saltiness. Prices are a bit higher but it's a bigger restaurant and finally a restaurant that is somewhat comparable with NYC's k-town plethora of choices. Somewhat...it is a sit-down with banchan without going the other spectrum of $75+pp for k-bbq so I'll take what I can.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner on a weekday night and there weren't a lot of people and made the dining experience pretty relaxing and easygoing. Parking - it's located in a plaza which has plenty of parking Service - the staff were really friendly and nice and didn't kick us out even though my party was definitely there for a very long time and they just left us alone unless we called them Food - ordered the galbi tang and beef bulgogi and the portions were great. The flavors were also really good for both dishes. For the galbi tang, you get a nice, big, meaty rib although the soup flavor is on the lighter side. The beef bulgogi was well flavored although I did wish it came on a hot plate Overall I had a pleasant dining experience and would come back to try a few of the other more fusion items as other people seemed to recommend.

Yelp
-Clean restaurant with sanitizers at front desk and tables. -Friendly, nice service and they offered recommendations. They have a bell stationed at the tables to ring them. -Food Banchan- jap chae, napa cabbage kimchi, bean sprouts, potato salad, fish cakes. Flavors were mellow and muted- sesame oil is evident. I would like to see different flavors like a hint more of sweetness to the jap chae or something tangy. All the dishes were more of a subtle and savory flavors. Seafood pancake- very crispy with fried vermicelli noodles on top, but zealously drenched in oil. Galbi Jjim- braised wagyu beef ribs, shrimp, octopus, vegetables (sweet potatoes, kombucha, etc), rice cakes and potato noodles. This dish was hearty and delicious out of everything we ordered. Purple rice was dry and tasted like it was old or cooked on quick setting.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Because of the seafood tofu stew, I'm giving it 4.5 stars. My favorite is the cheesy spicy rice cake. The flavor is rich with sweet and spicy soup. Goes wonderfully with ramen (additional $2) The short ribs are very good quality and very tasty. Perfectly marinated. The meat was beet tender. The Galbi Tang also very delicious. It's made with beef broth so it's lighter and the vermicelli that they use compliment it perfectly. However, if I want to be picky, I think it can be cook longer so the meat would be more tender. The seafood tofu stew is probably the least I like even though it is usually my favorite. It lacks seafood flavor. They used mussels instead of baby oysters, and missing the fried small shrimps. I think that's why it's missing the seafood flavor. The soup base also not flavorful enough.

Yelp
I hate to deduct a star, but I think this is an opportunity for the restaurant's take out logistics. Collectively as a family, we have ordered take out many times from this restaurant and have noticed the packaging of the dishes is really sub par. Especially for the BTC, it is a really saucy dish but stored in a container that leaks very easily. Our last order was stored in a paper box but with holes so the leak gets into the car. I really think a new container should be used for it or put into a bag at least or even line the box with newspapers. It really is disappointing when you get home, the sauce is everywhere. Hoping for the change because I really enjoy the food here!

Yelp
There's NO oysters in the Bossam. We were so disappointed in this place and I'm absolutely flabbergasted what kind of people are giving this place 5 stars. The food taste sub par and it seem like the only thing I paid for is a nice presentation. If presentation is what you're looking for on your social media come here by all means, but if you're looking for food that taste good this is not for you.

Yelp
COVID-19 OUTDOOR PATIO DINING Soooo recently I was reading Yelp reviews for a restaurant (not this one) and one caught my eye: "The online menu picture shows sliced pork, but I received cubed pork. It tasted good though but I wanted sliced pork...1 star." The owner responded and apologized saying that with COVID and being short staffed, they didn't have time to update pictures on their website. Small local businesses need our help more than ever. Unless you get the hershey squirts and/or something egregious happened, please don't be a doush. Restaurant Silla has been on my bookmarks because I heard that the owner is from Chungdam, an upscale Modern Korean Restaurant. They have a similar concept offering upscale Modern Korean fare and there's some fusiony items like Korean tacos and quesadillas. As with most Korean restaurants in NorCal, it's pricey but I thought it was worth it. During COVID-19, Restaurant Silla is offering takeout, delivery (Caviar, Postmates, UberEats, DoorDash, Seamless, GrubHub, etc), and they recently opened their back patio for outdoor dining. There's only two tables to seat 6-8 people so plan ahead if you want to dine in their back patio. Be forewarned, it's NOT fancy like their indoor dining area in case you want to nitpick about a spider web you may see. C O V I D S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * Staff wore masks properly. * Two socially distant tables in the patio, partially shaded. * For patio dining, order directly from their website and note that you're eating in the patio. * Most items will be served in takeout containers and compostable plates. * Server delivered food, napkins, and utensils with gloves. * For pick-up/delivery orders, only one customer is allowed inside at a time and there's two tables with delivery platform signs where your order will be placed. * Hand sanitizer available at the front table. F O O D * Complimentary Banchan: https://bit.ly/2WEEeG7 --Kimchi, radish kimchi, japchae, cucumbers, purple potato salad, and sesame seasoned greens. All were solid with my favorite being the purple potato salad (creamy soft and slightly sweet). I've never seen this included with a banchan set. White rice is also provided. Wish they offered purple rice. * Galbi Tang: Short Rib Soup w/ tteok (rice cakes), dangmyun (glass noodles), egg ribbons ($19) Since their opening days, they've changed their Galbi Tang - instead of two beef ribs, traditional English cut short ribs are now used (4 pieces). Also, there's no longer bean sprouts. The galbi was super tender and fall off the bone. The broth comes already seasoned (because COVID); it was rich and beefy with just the right amount of seasoning. The rice cakes and glass noodles were both deliciously chewy. * Maeun (Spicy) Galbi Jjim w/ tteok, dangmyun, kabocha (Large - $50 + $3 cheese): https://bit.ly/2WEZNqb During COVID, I've had some disappointing Galbi Jjim so I was hesitant on ordering it at Silla. I'm so glad we took a chance because I really enjoyed it! They've also tweaked the recipe for this dish. There's no longer shrimp included; instead, there's kabocha, tteok, and dangmyun. And, with the option to add cheese, it reminded me of Daeho's rendition. The meaty English cut short ribs were meltingly tender and swimming in a rich, complex sauce that's savory, sweet, and spicy. The kabocha was so soft that you could even eat the rind but held its shape because they were in large wedges. The cheese is a must add. The melty, oooey gooey cheese is so bomb with the chewy rice cakes and glass noodles coated in the spicy sauce. S E R V I C E With COVID, the owner is now pretty much running the show all by himself with his son coming in to help him (indoor seats 100+). Super nice and hardworking guy. Since the owner does all the cooking and has takeout/delivery orders to be filled, our food took longer to arrive but he was very apologetic. After delivering part of our order, he kindly asked us to not leave without giving him feedback about the food. He said, he hasn't received any since it's mainly takeout/delivery orders. His son who was our main server was also very kind. I asked for ice but they didn't have any so he brought me a bottle of cold sparkling water on the house. Overall, delicious Korean food served by a very kind dad and son duo. If you're in the area, please come out and support Restaurant Silla!

Yelp
Saw the 4.5 star rating and as walking in the top Mercury News rated restaurant. The inside was basic and the host wait for me to come the the register to be seated. There is a button to push when you want your order taken or need service. The food was good and priced well. Personally, I prefer to be served without having to hit a button. I would rate them 3.5 stars. I'm not sure how I feel about the single serving appetizers, likely saves having less waste. I may return to try some of the addition dishes.

Yelp
Solid Korean restaurant. Restaurant Silla delivers in taste, quantity, quality, and price. We haven't had anything we didn't like yet. Our favorite item so far is the spicy galbi jjim (see picture below). It's the perfect amount for two people and comes with rice and banchan! The galbi tang is also very tasty!

Yelp
Pros: slow but friendly service Parking lot Spacious Cons: ok food

Yelp
Delicious food with individual banchan plates. Great, personal service from the owner and his staff! Previously I've ordered the seafood pancake and seafood stew (both were fantastic) but decided to try the galbijim this time. Also a great choice! Tons of juicy meat and comes with shrimp, glass noodles, and rice cake as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant gave me the same feeling that I got when Netflix raised their price. They went through some hardship during COVID, closed for a while, and revamped their menu to make a come back. I feel like they made a mistake. The menu aims to be a mixture of traditional Korean and fusion. This is great but the issue is when a traditional favorite leans more towards fusion to impress rather than a basic Korean's need of comfort food. They tried to price the items to resemble a high end American restaurant but the reality is... it is nothing near. The side dishes were crammed in a tiny plate allowing all their juices to mix with each other. The kimchi was TERRIBLE. It was stir fried because it was TOO sour to be eaten raw. Should a staple side dish of a Korean restaurant anywhere be decent kimchi? Other sides like cheap mung bean sprouts, japchae with no veggies, and potato was given as well. I ordered the Bossam. They said they no longer carry oysters. DO NOT get the bossam. The old picture are misleading. It shows thick cuts of juicy meat. The "REVAMPED" menu gives you extreme thin, dry pieces of meat... scattered on a plate along with some butter lettuce. For $49, you get what I pictured below which to me, did not seem worth it at all. The meat smelled EXTREMELY BAD that I had two bites of it and got gaggy... I brought the rest home for my compost. More so, one of the staple sides of good bossam is pickled cabbage to wrap it in. Old pictures showed this but the new revamped menu no longer does this either. Instead, it is just some butter lettuce. Least to say, I was not impressed by the food at all. As much as I want this spot to do well for their great service, it was very very disappointing considering that it was a bigger restaurant in the middle of San Jose ktown. Service 5 (beer given on the house) Vibe/aura 5 Price 2 (not worth it for what it is) Food 1 (zero if possible) Averages to 3.25

Yelp
i'm so surprised this place hasn't been really discovered yet! when i came with my group on a saturday night, there were only a few people in the restaurant. you scan a QR code for the menu and you can also order online through there but mine wasn't working so we just told the server our order I split the galbi jjim with a friend (realistically should've been split between three because we got stuffed!) the meat fell off the bone and the sauce was the perfect accompaniment. it comes with potatoes and squash as well that really soak up all that flavor. my friend ordered the eel bibimbap which was the best I've ever had!! we also got sidedishes (your usual kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers, fish cake) and rice comes with everything - just ask. portions are huge but it matches the price (a little higher than average for korean food) the owner was the sweetest man I've ever met as he made conversation with us, joked around, and gave us a free mango makgeoli (rice wine + yogurt). very refreshing but a bit thick. I would honestly come back just to see the owner but good thing the food is amazing too!!!! I'm a fan

Yelp
This has to be one of the fakest Korean places Around here! The food is either so bland or soo salty and it's full of grease. Then When you ask for black pepper, they give you small black pepper packets after 15mins. later. They use cheap meat, old ingredients and vegetables making their dishes. I'm very disappointed with their food and service! Be very aware of this place people don't trust this pictures of this place! It's all Fake , Never returning! Horrible!

Yelp
The service was absolutely absymal. They're short-staffed and there seems to be some gender bias. They ignore customers based on gender. Very attentive to their male customers and left the women waiting for the barley tea... and waiting again to take the food order after serving the barley tea. I have never experienced anything like it before anywhere. At first, I thought that it was just me but there were others in the restaurant who seemed frustrated. The food was alright, however, it's not nearly as good as Jang Su Jang or Tofu House.

Yelp
Short and simple review. Extraordinary and exceptional food. You NEED to make a stop here. It is well decorated and friendly. Order: everything is good - unagi bibimbop ( sweet and garlicky) - beef bibimbop ( flavoring on point) - corn cheese ( Smokey, sweet, and a bit spicy) - comes with side dishes and japchae Overall, 5/5 unique and delicious restaurant with friendly ambiance

Yelp
3.5 stars Come here if you're a fan of fusion Korean food - think more cream, more cheese. I'm more of a simple classic Korean food type of gal so this wouldn't be the first spot I go to in Santa Clara, but I can see its appeal. The banchan here comes individually for each person, which makes it quite covid friendly. My friends really liked the banchan, which included kimchi, zucchini, potato salad, some greens, and fish cakes. We got: Better Than Cioppino ₿TC - It's quite tasty and delicious but too creamy for me to eat much of. But I understand why it's their signature dish - everyone seemed impressed by the flavors. Seafood and scallion pancake - Solid pancake but I think my thing with seafood pancakes is that they're all pretty good but despite the hype, none ever truly blow me away. Maybe I'm just not as big of a fan of seafood pancake as I think I am. Rose Spicy Rice Cakes - I liked the fish cakes mixed in with the rice cakes. Pretty creamy sauce, so another dish I couldn't eat much of.

Yelp

Yelp
A Korean friend recommended this restaurant saying it was the most authentic in the Bay! I stopped by on a Wednesday night and was seated immediately. The server was friendly and helped us decide what to order, so we ordered an appetizer and entree to share among two: Hwarang Galbi Tang: so so so good! The broth was light but rich in flavor and seasoned perfectly. The meat was tender and fell right off the bone! Haemul Pajeon (seafood pancake): this was a big portion, and I enjoyed it, but I do wish it were crispier Restaurant Silla is an upscale Korean restaurant, and it is a little pricier, but the servings are large and can easily be shared. Great for date night!

Yelp
Best out of the best Korean food! The Top 3 favorites ( I have been back 4 times in the past weeks) are : Galbi Jjim( beef short ribs with rice cake and pumpkin) , Better than cioppani ( sea food Koran curry) seafood pancake ! Thank you for making my weekend life yummy!

Yelp
We went there on Saturday for dinner, and the restaurant was empty, which didn't give us a good sign, but why not just try once? No one greeted me or served us until we rang a bell(?) at the reception. We got these dishes: - Teppan Chajang Noodle(Kangnam style): Aka black noodles in other Korean restaurants. Sadly, not authentic but Americanized enough for my American friends. - Garlic Bossam: the portion was small compared to the price. - Bibimbap: Perhaps we liked this dish the most. The stone pot kept the food warm, which was good. Nicely seasoned vegetables were a plus++ - Seafood tofu stew: As this restaurant is called a 'modern restaurant,' this dish fits that theme the most. Literally 'modernized' Korean soup. Not spicy. The chef/owner came by our table occasionally to check on us, which was nice and tried to explain why the dish was named after or what the dish was about. We got stuffed at the end, but the taste could be better to fit the price.

Yelp
This is one of the top 13 Korean restaurants in the bay area and I originally bookmarked it to try the eel rice lunch special. For whatever reason, we came for dinner instead and I was pleasantly surprised. First off, the greeting service and overall service was nice and attentive, which is better than some mom and pop Korean restaurants. We tried the fried oyster and a pork bibimbap, when we were not sure what else to add, the waiter suggested a beef soup, which is the perfect fit for the total meal profile. The fried oyster came in 10 big pieces and was very tasty and in good portion, definitely recommend. The bibimbap is good, but we didn't mix in the sauce so my judgement may be biased and my verdict is that it's ok, but nothing special. Too bad i didn't try the eel one, maybe next time. The beef rib soup came with a light flavor and there are some glass noodle but not a lot. Overall, not a bad dish. The only downside I say would be the usual Korean restaurant BBQ smell. Overall I enjoyed this meal.

Ella L.

Yelp
Delicious bossam and great tofu soup! We got the honey garlic butter bossam and it added a nice flavor profile to the pork, which was tender and soft. Friendly service, and the chef came out to greet us as well! He was very happy to see we finished all of our bossam :) Cute decor inside, and not super busy! Check them out if you're in the area for a nice, no-frills, relaxed Korean-dining experience.

Yelp
Five star bulgogi tacos. Three star seafood stew. Their menu proudly advertises this mist expensive menu item as "better than cioppino" The menu left out some words--primarily one:"NOT" should have preceded the statement above. It'd have been nice yo describe the fish dish as "creamy" too. It was not terrible...it was, actually even tasty... but we didn't expect cream (mild cheese?!?) in any dish compared with "cioppino"... We readjusted taste bud expectations and 1 of us grew to very much like the melding of Korean and Italian(-ish) spices/herbs/techniques...1 of us thought the dish "pretty good/just a little above avg" and the third of our trio remained disappointed but not miserable. It is a high price to pay for an ungenerous portion--even taking into account high bay area pricing Banchan = meh Again, small portions and here, nothing exciting...not even mildly interesting Server who took our order would not stop insisting we get seafood pancakes. We said no thank you seven different times, in Korean and in English. I explained that my wife makes a fantastic version of this dish and that we just ate that very thing the previous night... but he took a helluva lotta' convincing to accept a "NO!" Was this guy paid by commission on pancake sales alone? Did the chef/owner put a quota on the 'cakes that day--to off-load old batter before it needed discarding?!? Barley tea served with meal was some of the best ever. Its a simple thing. Who'd have thunk it possible to excel at barley tea? How much variation can there be??? Turns out--a lot. And I appreciate that this place did that right. Go for the bulgogi taco umami bomb, enjoy the barley tea... and maybe try some other items--you've been warned what to expect from the NOT better than cioppino--so can decide for yourself whether that's your thing
