Stop by here made me miss home. Cooking gadgets for a good price. There is a shipping place right in front of the store. If it is too big, you can ship back. Some rare Thai snack is also selling here. May not taste exactly like home but pretty close. Free parking 1 hr with $10 shopping.

This is a Thai centric market in the heart of Thai Town in Hollywood. They have a very good selection of Thai and Asian items from fresh vegetables, dry goods and canned items. There is paid parking or street parking. The entrance is from the parking lot. What I really like is prepackaged food by the cashier such as mango sticky rice, shu mai and papaya salad. There is also a vendor outside the front entrance of the market that makes fresh Thai snacks but they are cash only.

Google
Unusually dirty, feels third world, the meat department didn't look like pictures. I don't want to be mean maybe this will open their eyes and make the place cleaner.

Preet Madan

Google
STAY AWAY! They gossip about their customers in Thai. Luckily, I know the Thai language and understood everything the cashier was saying about me and the other customers. I caught her on the spot and will never return.

Google
My go-to place for Thai ingredients. I buy my sweet rice, coconut milk, and herbs like basil and lemon grass here. They had Siracha during the production interruption. They had toilet paper through the whole pamdemic. They have so many different sauces in bottles and red chili paste, it's nuts! If you like Thai food, if you like trying new things, this is a great place to shop for dinner.

Google
My go to Thai supermarket in the LA area. Lots of authentic choices both for prepared, frozen, dry groceries and fresh food. Free one hour parking with validation for $10 purchase in the back.

Tee Ponsukcharoen

Google
This is where you get key ingredients, or even cooking tools like a giant mortar, for Thai cuisine. They also have ready-to-eat meals and sweets too. My favorites are custard & sticky rice and Ka Nom Piek Pun.

Delicious desserts! Cheap produce. Great imported snacks. Hidden treasure of a supermarket.

Yelp
It's a really good Asian store that actually sells lots of Thai groceries along with fresh made meals. Staff were fine and helpful.

Yelp
Food at night is great. Variety of things to enjoy. Authentic tastes. Street parking is plenty.

Yelp
For the last 30 years there's been this supermarket in the back. Dumbfounded I had no idea So when I found out they have Mama Pad Thai noodles i came by and checked it out. This whole time what I thought was a facade was a actual live supermarket. Stepping inside this place and comparing prices with other stores this location is more eco friendly. The reason I found out about this place is because outside on the street is where they sell street Thai food. Do y'all remember that movie ? Rumble in the Bronx ? Yeah the neighborhood is like New York and one gotta kick it like Jackie Chan. Hollywood Blvd is not the cleanest street but it is the most FUN!

Yelp
Seafood salad - really good and flavorful, good level of spiciness like jalapeño level Pad kra pow - super good, juicy meat and pairs really well with the rice Pad see ew - it's alright, not crazy flavor

Yelp
I am a westerner interested in Thai cooking. I recently visited three different markets (Bangluck, 99 Ranch, and Silom) in search of Thai ingredients. 99 Ranch is pretty good, but Silom was the best for Thai Ingredients. Only at Silom, located in the midst of LA's Thai Town, was I able to find Makrut (Keffir) lime leaves. Bangluck, at the time of my visit, didn't have them, and 99 Ranch had domestic lime leaves only. I taste tested both, and the Makrut lime leaves have a lovely burst of flavor. For things like soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce, I was able to find most of the brands I wanted at 99 Ranch, but generally only in large sizes. At Silom I was able to find the good brands, but in smaller 10oz sizes, which is good for a casual cook like me who isn't cooking asian food every night. If I buy a 20 oz bottle of oyster sauce, at least half it is going to waste. Silom also had smaller sizes of dried shrimp (again, only available in a huge size at 99 Ranch), and great individual packets of stir fry ingredients like pea pods. They had an awesome selection of Thai style potato chips, candies and other fun snacks as well. If you are new to this market, there is convenient parking located to the rear.

Yelp
I researched LA county and this is the ONLY Thai market that sells all the ingredients needed to make a wonderful Thai Tomyang soup. You will find the kaffir lime leaves, lemon grass , galanga, Limes, green onion, mushrooms all together in one spot and you can read the names of each vegestable. I posted photos of kaffir lime leaves, galangal, lemon grass.

Yelp
This is my favorite market for Thai groceries. They generally always have everything that I need. And the staff is super sweet! They usually have all of the thai herbs and vegetables I can not find at other grocery stores including, thai basil, sweet basil, holy basil, pea eggplants, thai eggplants, kaffir lime leaves, culantro, lemon basil, dill, bean sprouts, etc. They also have an extensive freezer section including hard to find ingredients like coriander root and frozen durian. They ALSO also have a vegan/vegetarian freezer section! Thai food is generally pretty easy to make vegan, and this place has all of the tools. Parking is free as long as you buy something and get it validated.

Yelp
Definitely something to do at least once in your life. Eat on the street. There's only four options. I was a little too hot for me I would love some rice

Eira N.

Yelp
We enjoy exploring this store. We like to get hard to find things like lemon grass and kefir lemon leaves, Thai lays chips and fried garlic chips That my daughter loves to sprinkle on almost everything.

Yelp
What a wonderful discovery. The place is filled with wonderful Thai (and other Asian) food products. The produce is fresh and well packaged, everything is neatly arranged and the staff very very helpful. PRICES!!! YAY. Special praise for cashier named Cat (Kat??). She is what customer service should be. I highly recommend.

Mimi R.

Yelp
They have difficult to find condiments in their store. It is always interesting to wander in this store and serendipitously find good things.
google avatar

Rungsima V. T.

Yelp
Beware over charges!! Please make sure you check your receipt before you leave the market. The cashier over charged me on multiple items. She ringed extra items. It's so hard when you buy $100 worth of items to go over everything. They at lease charge me $15 extra on things.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect for what it is supposed to be. Not the prettiest store, not the friendliest staff, but you come for specialty products and the prices. This is my absolute favorite place to be for all my Thai and Asian food item needs (Ranch 99 is my other favorite). I truly appreciate the fresh curry paste varieties that was my initial reason for exploring this market however they quickly became a regular stop for me when doing grocery shopping. There is a "fresh seafood " section where they fry fish to order. I have never tried...imma need someone else to first. Lol. There's a huge frozen section with specialty goodies such as roti and banana leaves. Huge dry goods section ; all kind of beans, grains, and spices. Can also get cookware for the home or restaurant in addition to restaurant supplies! This is a great place to pop into. Metered on street parking, may be tricky depending on time of day. There is a small lot, but must purchase a minimum $10 for validation.

Yelp
This is my favorite Thai market in the Los Angeles area. Staff is polite. They will go out of their way to help you out, if needed. Parking not an issue here (there is plenty), except maybe on weekends I imagine. Aesthetically this market needs renovation bad - it's straight up ugly and disorganized. However, it's clean and has a charm to it. Compared to other Thai markets in the area this one more has stuff and maybe price range is a tad higher. If your looking for hard to find "Thai" ingredients, exotic veggies and herbs, spices, condiments; and cooking utensils this market has it all. Also, the Thai non-perishable and fresh snacks including desserts are tasty - not all. My only complaint is the expiration dates on produce. They had moldy "Thai birds eye chili peppers " in the produce section, nasty! One of the workers brought me a fresh pack of chili peppers from the back, so just say something if you notice something is not fresh or (worse) expired. The workers are pretty cool here.
google avatar

Cindy N.

Yelp
Real talk. I only come in if I'm desperate, and they are very close to where I live, but the staff here are just downright rude. Once I was looking for basil and certain chili peppers, but after checking the herb area it wasn't there. So I asked the guy while he was stocking produce if he could help me, and he would point in a certain direction and walk away. I asked for assistance again and he walked away once more. Most recently I was checking out, and the cashier never spoke a word to me while his eyes fixated on the TV the entire time. He did not care that he was taking his sweet time, and reached for more items to scan only to discover the last item he scanned concluded my purchase. That's how much devotion he had into not engaging in his job. They do have a great selection on Asian herbs and spices, dry food, special produce, etc but that is the only redeeming them about them. The prices are slightly above average, not cheap. The store is not clean at all. I find myself washing the dust off the canned goods after bringing them home.

Yelp
Made it a point to stop by here after driving by many times and was pleasantly surprised to find parking in the back as well as an assortment of prepared foods that works well for a quick, delicious lunch! Parking can be validated for purchases of $10 or more, The family that runs the khanom krok stand at the entrance also dishes up various snacks/goodies at a fair price. The shop can definitely use a facelift, but I suppose same can be said of 85% of Asian Mom and Pop grocery stores. Some produce looks fresh, while others leave a lot to be desired. It's nice to have access to Asian herbs and ingredients so I don't have to venture out to SGV each time I need lemongrass or Thai lime leaves for a recipe.
google avatar

Ted C.

Yelp
I wanted to get a few ingredients for a Thai curry, stuff that would be harder to find at a regular grocery store. Thai eggplant, lemongrass, birdseye chilis, that kind of thing. Did a quick search and saw that Silom was the closest so I went over. I walked in, had my bag checked in-is that a common thing around here? I found the packaged items easily enough but had trouble finding the chilis. There weren't a lot of staff around so I finally got the attention of someone pinging away and asked for chilis, without breaking stride she said in the produce section and when I told her I had already been and didn't see any she seemed incredulous about my claim, saying they're in the corner. So, it turns out there weren't any and she had to go to the back to get them. I don't mind the dim lighting or even the dinginess but staff seem unhelpful I don't really want to come back.

Yelp
This place is alright. Parking lot was full on Saturday so I had to wait for a couple mins. They do have a lot more stuff than Bangrak Market but some of them can be more expensive. A lot more selection on pre-made food & desserts. Also got Kanomkrok from vender at the front of the ent

Yelp
I've been to Silom market before, but this time I had a mission had to find some decent, packaged Thai noodles (Trader Joe's had to retire theirs - aargh!!!). Silom is a thai supermarket located (where else?) in Thai Town, in Hollywood, close to the Hollywood and Western subway stop. There's parking behind the store, a quirky lot, they validate for 40 minutes if you buy merchandise that you spend at least $5 on. Bit complicated, but keep that ticket to be stamped when you check out. Decent customer service. Now that we got the necessary info out of the way, let's dig dip into a culinary Thai experience since Silom is so fun to explore. It's big, has mostly Thai products (not only) and you can find almost anything here. Do I know what everything is? No! That's the fun of it, to look around, trying to figure things out. They have great pastries, noodles, vegetables, fruits, pre-made salads if you need lunch to go, Thai beers (Singha!), desserts. A lady makes fresh food for sale at the entrance. Prices are decent, on the lower side, so you can take some chances. We were craving some taro pastries, so we loaded on those (very good), some custard ones, got many versions of Thai noodles, so that'll be fun to have here and there. Our miss - a Taro custard cake, when we opened it at home we didn't like the smell- it had fried onion on top, not the dessert we hoped for, but that's OK, lesson learnt - read the labels! Our favorites- a peach boba drink and their curry pastries, not too spicy, loved the dough. Silom is fun to stroll through, it's like taking a trip to another country. Because this is what Silom is, an ethnic, exotic market, it's a little adventure you can have in the middle of LA. Don't be afraid, explore. I would have looked around some more, to explore and to learn more inside this fun market, but hey, I was watching for my 40 minutes limit! Maybe they can validate for an hour? That would me things more relaxed, you could take more time to discover fun Thai products. Because Silom offers a nice slice of the Thai food culture.

Yelp
Great Thai market with lots of variety. Twice now, my elderly aunt who had to use the restroom due to small bladder and manager refused use. This is America, not Thailand.
google avatar

Secretbaby L.

Yelp
Their prices are ok.. maybe $1 more than some stuffs sold in LAX (we called it Thai Costco). In SF we don't have store like that (maybe I don't know of?). I was able to bought a lot of stuffs from that store Like Thai red and yellow curry paste (not the one in the glass bottle), thai crushed chili powder and also fried shallot (I am hoping smell like fried shallot not not one of those doesn't small like onion). I wish I can buy more since some of them are cheaper over there.. we also bought a whole bunch of frozen durian, which we thought $15.99 per bag, but they are sold per pound so end up paying some of them $16 and some are $20. We bought them not because of they are cheap but because they look very good.
google avatar

Dan S.

Yelp
This market, in the heart of Thai Town, is amazing. Stocked to the gills in everything Thai food you might possibly want. And the prices are low. Me thinks restaurants buy here, open up a can of paste, add coconut milk, and serve it up in their dining establishments. I am deducting one star because the market seemed to be on the dirty side.

Summer P.

Yelp
Good variety of Thai/Asian products. But very Rude security guy! On the phone all the time and stop me impolitely when I tried to put the shop card away. Hope the market changes the security guy

Yelp
PSA for Caribbean cooks: Yes this place has culantro (Panama), recao (Puerto Rico), Ngo gai (Vietnamese) and how it's called in the U.S. sawtooth herb. I have looked high and low for a market that consistently carries this and it's always a win here.
google avatar

Patti R.

Yelp
It's easy to park and shop here. I should really give it four stars because it's not like it knocks my socks off, but I have chosen to give it five and take away a star if something distinguishable from an isolated incident should color my view. There are gluten-free tofu donuts here and some instant ginger tea that I just can't seem to live without. If you are making any thai dishes and need things like kefir limes or special fish broth, the freezer section is well stocked. To boot, the staff seems to speak English very well and is very friendly and patient with questions. There are some special Thai teas that are good for overall health and some for kidney or liver health and the staff takes the time to explain to people who are not thai. I love thai food and thai people so this place is just thrilling. Parking is easy. You'll be in Hollywood so don't expect a posh neighborhood. Expect authenticity, good value and a novel experience with sweet Thai peeps-- always so polite.
google avatar

Yelp
We love going to the night market for the noodles. Except for the limited parking, the food is good and there's plenty of tables if you decide to eat there. The people that work there are friendly.
google avatar

Jasmine L.

Yelp
I went this market last weekend so I bought fresh garlic but its not really fresh and some products is expired but they still on the shelf, please be careful when you buy products here look at the price and expired date first.
google avatar

Jojo M.

Yelp
Huge selection of Thai goods and mini pre-packed, ready to eat meals and sauces (nam prik heaven). I never make it on Sunday where you can get fresh Thai tacos (Ka nom buang) but it's still good when I get it on Friday! Super nice service and ample garage parking (validated). Yea sure, it's not pristine and clean, but I'll trade in dessert and goodies and the million different packets of seasoning for that any day lol.
google avatar

Keesha F.

Yelp
They have a great selection of thai items but that's where it ends. The lady that works the register is super unfriendly if you're not Thai! I asked for help finding thai tea and instead of showing me, they sent me on a wild goose chase and In the end tried to give me some powder b.s. that was prefixed with milk added smh.. During another visit, a customer actually helped me find the green curry paste I was looking for. There was no expiration date on the fresh pastes so I asked how long they'd keep in the fridge and was given a weird look before she just turned around and began ringing up another customer. Then during check out the lady started screaming because the lemongrass I guess came in big bunches and I had one.. I told her that I'd just grabbed it out the basket and that there were several loose ones but she just took the lemongrass and refused to sell it to me! Then after she was done I go to get money out of my purse to pay and she screams 10 dollar minimum for cards! Lol smh I was like relax I'm paying cash.. One monkey don't stop no show tho, Until I find another thai market, I'll be back to grab my curry paste, and any other thing I need to make thai food! I just know to bring cash and ask anyone but the mean cashier for help!
google avatar

Michell M.

Yelp
My favorite Thai market, there are a lot of Thai ingredients, sauces , prepackaged food. Professional staffs with smile on their faces. Deduct 1 point for only 1 hour parking is provided. I had to pay extra 4 dollars last time after spending 250 dollars shopping there. That is ridiculous !
google avatar

Michael G.

Yelp
I love Silom. The people who work here are friendly, the pre-made curry pastes are delicious (against the wall in the fridge on the right hand side when you first walk in) and they have everything you need to cook a Thai feast at home. The best part is that even if you have no idea what you're doing - YouTube is your friend, I'm partial to the Hot Thai Kitchen channel - things at Silom are pretty inexpensive and you'll almost always have enough ingredients to try again. This place is well stocked with all the staples - basil, lemongrass, fish sauce, palm sugar, etc - and a decent selection of produce. The quality of the produce can be hit or miss, as many of the local Thai restaurants stock up from Silom, but there's usually enough good stuff for whatever I'm trying to cook up. I can't speak to their prepared food or meat / fish counter, but everything else is solid.
google avatar

Yelp
Smelly messy and dirty market where is the health department??? No service what so ever. I asked for help from a sraff member and got rude respond, no help. the lady at the registrar was helpful in arranging delivery to my car. They have good selection of products but was difficult to find what I was looking for and impossible to get help. Many of the "fresh" produce saw better days and should have being in the trush long time ago. Many of the products are made in China. I don't know about you but I rather not have them in my kitchen. This was my first and last visit to this market.
google avatar

Yelp
Thailand is a magic place, and this little store (surrounded in a plaza by other little stores and bakeries) is like a cultural interactive experience. First: people are EXTREMELY nice, produce is FRESH FRESH FRESH, pastries are yum, tamarind is plenty, there's a lot for parking but don't get too excited it's still Hollywood Second: this is an awesome unexpected date place! You can play some games (who can find the coolest Lay's international flavor?), get your girl a nice under $2 souvenir (or splurge!), plan a delicious curry for dinner, stop by nearby Hollywood Thai or another joint for cocktails n karaoke, then go home and make the best coconut curry / pad Thai / green papaya salad of your dreams, do that lady and the tramp noodle thing and ~ Khlxkhelī ~ (snuggle!!!) and then watch Pee Mak Phra Khanong, one of the top box office hits in Thailand!
google avatar

Yelp
If I took Silom by literal pronunciation, I'm going to say that it means "the colors of the wind." Hello Pocahontas where are you? So yeah, silom is not a tonal word. Not like "suay" which could mean both "dangerous" and "beautiful" depending on your pitch on the vowel. You could either get a kiss or a slap in the face if you're not careful. There are many words in the Thai language that are tonal which can make it confusing. Not to mention "kao" which could mean horns, rice, white, or fishy. Silom Supermarket is a little Thai supermarket. There are things here that can't be found at other Asian supermarkets. This includes some Thai curry pastes, Thai sauces, Thai holy basil, Thai eggplants... yeah. You'd be leaving this place all Thai'd out! The grocery section is... okay. There's not that big of a selection here. Just one aisle of what seems like pure vegetables. Chopped papaya salad, lettuce, cabbages, bellpeppers, and some other stuff. A whole aisle of every brand of cup noodles for the starving student. I never bought any of the meat section so I have no idea how it is. An aisle dedicated to Thai herbal stuff. They have a whole set of pain relievers, herbal Thai teeth powder, herbal oils, yeah that sort of thing. There are people that make and deliver bento boxes of Thai food on the weekends. This includes Grilled Pork Skewers, Grilled Chicken Skewers, Egg Noodles with BBQ Pork, Spare Pork Ribs, Thai Sausage, Moo Namtok, Moo Satay, Chicken Satay, and Larb. The sticky rice in these boxes are fantastic. There are no hard bits it's all soft and sticky. The grilled pork skewers are my absolute favorite. Great pork flavor! So tender and there are no crazy globs of fat. There is a lady that sits around the checkout area. She makes super spicy Thai soups and curries. Like off the chart spicy. I didn't think humans could eat that spicy, we've had to modify her soups a few times. She's off to Thailand to get surgery for her leg for a few months and she should be back soon. There's also a woman near the end of the supermarket that makes Thai desserts on the spot including Thai tacos and curry puffs. Most of the aisles are really narrow. It's usually super cold in this supermarket so it's highly recommended that you wear something warm. For parking, you can park in the structure. You have to get a receipt stamped for free parking or you can park on the meters. Overall, 3 stars for market selection and 1 extra star for all the good Thai food that is made or delivered here. This supermarket is great for getting Thai related things. The people that prepare food here make really awesome Thai food.

Yelp
One-stop shop for all your authentic Thai grocery needs. Last time we were here, we got a great deal on a box of fresh young coconuts, and were satisfied with the whole lot of them. They also have plenty of awesome non-food related items that are really convenient to get here, like cooling powder (seriously, in the Los Angeles heat, this is ridiculously refreshing). The Khanom bueang - Thai crepes, or as I like to think of them, Thai dessert tacos - with meringue and sweet egg yolk threads are made fresh on weekends and are so incredibly delicious! More delicate of a flavor but somewhat similar to a Chinese egg custard tart, but very light (and subsequently super addicting!) What I always think about when I think about this place (and what we always get when we come here) are the prepared foods. These are seriously are amazing! You can find them all on a shelf by the checkout stands: with sticky rice and a variety of meats to choose from, you can't go wrong. Made locally, and I would assume quite fresh every day, these are a real winner for me. I wish I had these easily accessible to me for my work lunches every. single. day. Some of my favorites are the deep fried spareribs, moo dad diew (fried sun dried marinated pork), and sai oua (Northern Thai pork sausage with bold flavors of lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and its distinctive signature pungent fermented sour funk flavor). Parking is convenient especially for this area since it has a dedicated lot, you get 45 mins free with a $5 minimum purchase.

Yelp
I want to like this place. It's bigger than Bangluck and almost as densely packed, so it has an amazing selection of ingredients. However, when I visited there was way too much old produce on the shelves. Many leafy things were wilted; many items had brown patches on the verge of rotting. No point in a good selection if half of it is unfit for eating. BTW I don't care about how the building looks or the staff behaves. I am only reviewing the products for sale.

Yelp
Silom opened in 1992, and has since 1999 (when I moved to Los Angeles) been one of my go-to markets for items you can't find at the the big chain markets within walking distance of my home (Gelson's, Ralph's, Trader Joe's, and Whole Foods). Bigger than Bangluck, closer than Lax-C, and more convenient for me than Bangkok Market. They have good produce, all kinds of "maggi" sauces, and the BEST selection of vegetariarian mock meats (mostly Taiwanese). Fun fact: Silom () is named after Bangkok's financial district. https://ericbrightwell.com/2016/05/04/los-angeless-asian-supermarkets/

Yelp
I've been coming to the Silom Supermarket for 15+ years. It's the hand's down best Thai supermarket in Los Angeles. They have everything from prepared foods (Hainan Chicken, pork skewers, grilled fish and rice, curries, salads, etc) and food to cook at home (fresh curries, sauces, marinades, etc). I would say that one of the strengths of this market is their fresh foods. The fruits / veggie section isn't as large as I would hope, but you get everything that you need - basil, cilantro, limes, Thai eggplants, galangal, ginger, green papaya, etc. They also have a frozen food section which I have only purchased one item in 15 years (looks like it could use a bit of inventory turnover). The canned food sections is good. People who work / own the place aren't the most talkative but that is OK because you get great items here. Parking is free, but remember to validate your parking ticket. Food grade: A- Service Grade: B Worth the Money Grade: B+ Overall Impression Grade: A-

Yelp
Been to this market many times when I crave for some deli things. They use to have a lot more pre Covid - like pink vermicelli noodles with dry shrimps, bean sprouts, eggs, fried tofu, lime ... was really good. Now they only have very limited items and not as good as before especially the chai dumplings. Today one box is ok but the other one tasted old. the sauce in the center always leak. Please relate to their venders to bring back the pink vermicelli and keep their quality control. It is a nice place to sell their home made Thai dishes - make all dishes mild with hot pepper as add on.

Yelp
Was standing in line waiting to pay and looked at the shelf next to me at all the Fishermens friends cough drop boxes all of them were empty and all of them had dust in them so I stack them up as to give a hint to the owner to restock the shelf and I found that precious gem right behind it next to the hot foods a fly trap filled with a bunch of tiny flies so gross where is the health department?

Yelp
This is a small mom and pop Thai market with great prices and quality stock. My partner is Cambodian and I would say many similar or a lot of the same ingredients are used in Thai dishes as well as Cambodian dishes. Anyway, I took him here and he bought loads of groceries to last us a while. We're not in Hollywood all that often as we live on the Westside of LA. Anyhow, we came here to get ingredients for a Cha Kreoung Sach Moun (stir fried lemongrass chicken). We were able to get Galanga, ginger, lemongrass, Thai basil, Thai chilies, many different sauces, tamarind paste...anyway! Thank you Silom market for supplying us with fresh and superb ingredients for our delicious dinner!

Yelp
As a San Gabriel Valley transplant in Hollywood, one of the many things I find myself craving is fresh soymilk. I searched various Korean supermarkets for it unsuccessfully and could only occasionally find the non-fresh unrefrigerated box type along with the American brands like Silk. Silom Supermarket carries fresh soy milk, sweetened and unsweetened, from a few different brands in the refrigerator, ranging between $2-3 per container. They also have an enormous selection of Thai desserts that, in my opinion, is greater and better than neighboring dessert store Bhan Kanom Thai. The pumpkin custard sold here is excellent. There are also boxed meals like Hainan Chicken Rice that are prepared daily and ready for grab-and-go, sitting by the checkout line. I'm not sure how fresh they are, but the box was warm when I picked one up to inspect. They offer time-limited free parking around back for Silom Supermarket patrons based on the dollar amount of your purchase, which is also really nice as I find street parking in Thaitown otherwise very difficult.

Yelp
It only takes one visit to see why this market is such a hot spot in Thai Town. I was out here looking for snacks. Got what I came for, and then some! I'm no expert, but it looks as though they have all your unique Thai ingredients for cooking here. Not to mention the wide array of prepared foods freshly made in the mornings. (My advice is to come early for your best selection) I'd be wary of the produce section.. it didn't look like they were at their peak freshness (if ya catch my drift), but packaged goods are A-OK so long as you check for expiration dates.

Yelp
The gratitude I owe to this place cannot be captured in words, but I will try. I cannot say for sure, but their selection seemingly approaches the entire catalogue of VegeUSA/Verisoy mock meats. Salmon (whole and in steaks), mackerel, cuttle fish, and other fishes I have not even heard of. Tendon, liver, scallops, lobster, squid jerky, swallow balls (?), etc - I won't even bother to finish. Plus all the normal stuff like chicken drumsticks, those insane smoked ham rolls, and the best vegan beef jerky in the country. Not all of that company's stuff is vegan, but in almost every instance this is very obvious because it is labeled either "vegan" or "vegetarian." How any reviewer could complain there are not enough vegan items I do not know. There will always be sad curmudgeonly people in the world, gripping packages of frozen food label-side-up and cursing to themselves. This is why normal people hate us. I used to buy the ham roll at the Seventh Day Adventist store in Glendale for $20. It is less than half that much here. One time on the drive to New Life Sanctuary, everyone looked at me crazy for eating it raw but, within a half hour, were fighting it out of my hands. It's better raw. Also by the registers they have these House-made Thai sweets. There are these little sweet taro-coconut blocks. Fire.

Yelp
Every time i go to Asian grocery store, there's one important thing that i must check is expiration date. I kinda have a mix feeling about this store between i love it cos they have stuff that regular grocery stores don't have and i hate it cos it's not really clean. Produce like shallots, gingers, onions etc are a lot cheaper than Ralph or Pavilion. They also have variety of Asian snacks, curry paste and sauces. The best thing is they provide convenient private parking spot behind the premises and free for the first 40 min (with validation). I usually come here once in a month to get something i cannot find at regular grocery stores.

Yelp
I have been shopping at Silom for years and have been generally pleased with their produce and grocery items, although the last couple of times I have been there, I have had two separate vastly differing yet extremely annoying experiences. Maybe this is a cultural thing, but I don't understand what possesses the management of this store to think it is perfectly ok to have clamshell packages of prepared chicken and organ meat meals sitting out at room temperature, lining the wait path for the cash register. Being a vegetarian, the odors are nauseating. But even if I ate a more conventional diet, I would never buy prepared meat meals sitting on a grocery shelf at room temperature for heaven knows how many hours. Tomain poisoning and dissentary are not my idea of a lovely Saturday afternoon. Thank you just the same. During my last visit, something else pissed me off to high heaven involving their new electronic parking system. I was in the store for under 10 minutes which usually means that you just stick the parking ticket issued at the gate, back in the exit gate and the bar lifts. However this time there was a new needlessly complicated system installed. I was not told that I needed to have my parking ticket validated by the machine next to the store entrance in the garage process my ticket before also then having to stick it in the outdoor machine to lift the exit bar. In no place is this marked and nobody mentioned this to me as I was checking out. I went to drive out of the lot and the machine would not take my ticket.... It kept reading USED TICKET. So I rang the call button. Nobody came. There were five cars in back of me so all I could do was lock my car, and run back around into the store and ask what to do. The lady at the register then very begrudgingly explained to me that I had to put the original ticket into the machine by the garage store entrance to be processed so I could stick it in the other machine at the gatebooth to lift the exit bar. Silom Market is not Staples Center nor Cedars Sinai hospital so I hardly think such a sophisticated parking system is remotely necessary. I just wanted to buy ginger, garlic, and onions and felt needlessly put upon by this ridiculous superfluous stress invoking parking booby trap.

Yelp
Nice authentic Thai market. The service was friendly and they had a lot of selection. The parking structure is free with $10 validation or you can park on the street for $1/ hr as well.
