The Best Breweries and Brewpubs in Bend, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Bend’s third-oldest brewery built a beautiful wooden patio, which evolved into a large complex with a stage, outdoor bar service, and a food truck pod called “the Office.” Southern Accent has taken somewhat permanent residence with a choice of meats on po’ boys and in fry baskets, including Gator. Mundrelli’s Italian offers fresh and flavorful Italian salads and sandwiches. Bowen’s New York-style pizza, Tablas Mexican food, and GoGo’s Bistro’s hot dogs and sandwiches are best paired with Silver Moon’s beers, now in the hands of brewer, Jordan Hunt who is innovating and bringing back old recipes like Return of the Dark Side, a revamped IPA97 that won gold at the Oregon Beer Awards. Non-drinkers can swoon over Hunt’s creamy root beer available on tap only from the brewery." - Barb Gonzalez

The Best Breweries and Brewpubs in Bend, Oregon - Eater Portland

"Bend’s third-oldest brewery built a beautiful wooden patio, which evolved into a large complex with a stage, outdoor bar service, and a food truck pod called “the Office.” The food trucks here don’t serve the typical Pacific Northwestern standbys. There’s Blind Tiger pizza that ages its dough 60 hours before making the wood-fired pizza in a forno bravo pizza oven on the cart, “The Bob” kebab truck, Southern Accent with a choice of meats on po’boys and in fry baskets, including Gator, and Tablas Mexican food. All these are best paired with Silver Moon’s barrel-aged selections, year-round cans, or rotating Lunar series beers. Concerts are held indoors in the winter. The bar opens for music in the winter but moves outdoors, and the indoor lounge and game room, the Green Room, is open." - Jeffrey Stull, Barb Gonzalez

1st Annual Bend Blues Fest! Such an enjoyable event! Great turnout with enthusiastic, fun-loving crowd, fantastic music, good food, cold drinks. What more could you ask for?

Silver Moon Brewery is a great venue, the outside patio area is great for outdoor summer time shows! They have multiple stages which make for a great spot to have little festivals. They also have pretty good beers and a nice variety of drinks. The food cart area is also pretty cool. The main bar has trivia nights and other fun events.

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a business networking event for our After Hours group at Silver Moon Brewing and had a great experience! Our point of contact was their VP of Operations Steve; and he was great to work with; timely communication, and very accommodating. We had a large group of attendees for our event, and they gave us exclusive usage of a large section of their indoor pub space. The service was exceptional, and they had a notable selection of drinks for our guests; beer, wine, cocktails, and cider. They also have a solid variety of food truck options. Whether you’re looking for your next fun outing, or to plan an event, definitely check out Silver Moon Brewing!

Always a good spot to grab a good beer and some food. Went to the burger truck and had a really good waygu special and Reuben. Silver Moon's beer selection is great! Always have a good time coming here, its always a spot I try to hit up when visiting.

Great place to stop in for a beer. They offer a huge outdoor area with some GREAT food trucks!

Google
Always a great vibe at Silver Moon Brewing... the team here goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. Super friendly crew, creative energy, and now they’re slinging some of the best hemp-infused cocktails in Bend ;) If you’re curious about Hemp Cocktails that actually taste amazing and still help you unwind, this is the place to try one. Highly recommend grabbing a seat on the patio and letting them mix something up for you.

Google
Came here to check out the concept of the This brewery and food truck pod. We loved the one ordering on the tables for all the food trucks. Perfect just perfect. Tip: get a beer first then head to the table to order food. We did pizza, the Nashville wings, the Cuban sandwich and Latin tacos. The Cuban sandwich was the best, then the pizza( so yummy Sicilian style), Nashville wings just so so and the tacos very dry. Overall amazing place and concept.

Google
Overall I had a decent experience here, but I overheard a very distressing display of poor customer service from one of the waiters at this establishment which ruined an otherwise passable evening as well as the image of this brewery. A nice lady and her husband were using a coupon and a gift card (which was too old for their system but she claimed it had ten dollars left) to buy a set of beers for themselves. The waiter initially pushed back on the gift card, refusing to honor it. After much reasonable pushback he took the gift card and served the drinks. When they went to check out, she asked for the gift card and the remaining three dollars back. The waiter snobbily made a remark about using it again to get a free beer. The woman promptly folded the tip money she was ready to extend and left. Don’t think I want to return here if this is the service I could receive at any given moment.

Yelp
This was one of the few places I visited on my own in an effort to complete another section of the Bend Ale Trail. Silver Moon is farther away from the other brewery districts, but still a 10-15 min walk from downtown. It's on the same road leading out of town toward Pilot Butte, which you can easily see from the brewery. I was here on a weekday early afternoon so it was relatively empty. The space is beautiful; what looks like just another storefront along a busy road hides a long corridor with musicians mural both to the side door into the main bar and back to the outdoor beer garden. It's much bigger than it looks! Outdoors there are a bunch of various sized tables, perfect for small to larger groups. There is standing room and bar benches all over, perfect for mingling during the summer time. They also have a number of fire pits, which I'm sure are cozy on a chilly or snowy day you still want to be outside. The interior is dark and open with a large floor. The bartender was super friendly and welcoming, telling me all about the place. From his description, I got that this is more of a live music venue with a brewery than the other way around. They have an interior stage with large floor for standing or dancing and handful of high top tables nearby the bar area. Around to the left is a small merchandise section and large clean restrooms. The bar area was big with lots of beer options. I opted for a flight of six and stuck to styles that I loved plus a few I figured would pair with the relatively sunny and warm afternoon of the day I was there. The only thing I really wasn't overly impressed with were the beers; each was good to okay, nothing was wrong but neither did anything wow me. Regardless, I would love to come check this place out again, maybe next time on a weekend evening to see a band and share some beers with friends.

Yelp
Great beer, great prices, home brewed Kamboucha, friendly staff, food carts on property

Yelp
My Wife and I have been going to what's now called Silver Moon Brewing Co. for 16 years since Tyler Reicherts - (Original Founder) opened back in 2000 with just a small store front. It's amazing how much it's grown. The beers have always been exceptional. Tyler would serve you your first draft then go back to the brewing room taking care of the beer vats. You'd just pour yourself as many Micro Brews as you wanted and leave cash on the small bar top that maybe sat 3-4 customers. Oh, the Good Old Days in Bend, Oregon. See you's guy's on Monday Funday ! $4.00 Pints - All Day

Yelp
This is one of my favorite breweries in the area since they have great non-alcoholic options in addition to really good beer. They also have four food truck options to choose from which is another benefit to bringing the kids or those that want some food options. You can also bring your dog since they're also dog friendly. Service here is great as well. They recommended specific food items at the food trucks, which were right on target - and not something I normally would've ordered so that was a nice touch. They have both outside and inside seating options, so weather is not a factor here, nor is parking with their dedicated parking lot. Finally, they were open on July 4th which is another big plus.

Yelp
Cool brewery with lots of different food trucks! There are often events here such as comedy nights, trivia, burlesque shows and concerts. I saw SNBRN here for the block party concert and it was a blast. The stage was awesome, cool decorations & bubbles and little pools to dip your feet in. They have multiple bathrooms and places to buy drinks so the lines weren't too long. They have a great selection of beer and cocktails, my favorite is the mango daze!
google avatar

Donna M.

Yelp
Cool place!! Their hefe is very good and great food truck choices!! The Go go Bistro has an excellent Cuban sandwich!

Buhbye R.

Yelp
This used to be a great place. They used to have great nachos. Now, none. Food trucks. Yay. And everything's a hassle. Completely Californicated. Funny how all of the 1 and 2 star reviews are "not currently recommended". I wonder what that costs them. Skip this place and hit Boneyard instead.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful brewery with a huge outside space for enjoying music, good, beer and company. We went ahead and had the Bob food which was fresh and delicious. The live entertainment was great and I enjoyed a delicious sour beer. I will be back! Oh, and that mural was epic!

Anthony P.

Yelp
Went to a comedy show here. Great atmosphere, great tap selection. Would definitely go back for a chill weekend evening.

Yelp
Cool place to hang out. Bring the dogs. Great variety of food trucks. Definitely recommend. I like their apparel too

Yelp
A great place to enjoy wonderful craft beer. The Mexican lager was very good. Great atmosphere with an awesome staff.

Yelp
Really cool outdoor vibe with great live music. Food truck was great too just wish more were open but it was mid week so. Tried 3 beers, all IPA. No dark stouts/porters on menu at time. Get there early to get a space in lot or plan to walk a bit.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come to Silver Moon Brewing for a long time. Steve and I were in Bend a few years ago and went to a lot of breweries in town and Silver Moon was on the list however when we got here there was a sign up saying that they were closed due to remodeling so our visit here had to get slated until our next trip to Bend. So recently that finally happened and we were glad we made sure to come back. The taproom was nice and spacious and when there is nice weather a really fine looking area for outdoor seating. On my visit here I got a Mexican style lager which proved to be very enjoyable. It may have not been my all time favorite Mexican Lager ever but I liked it plenty. Steven got a Vienna Lager which was good and refreshing as well. I'm glad the wait to visit Silver Moon finally happened and I bought some great swag here, a cool t shirt with a crescent moon on it!
google avatar

Lena M.

Yelp
Not what I expect but it is nice. They offer no flights of beer but you can sample taste before purchasing. Outdoor is spacious and there are a few food trucks tho when we went most were closed. Understandable as it was a Wednesday afternoon.
google avatar

Heather J.

Yelp
I lived this place! It has the perfect blend or indoor AND outdoor seating, and they have a full bar for those who don't want beer.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Found this spot as it was close to our hotel and boy was it a surprise! We loved the atmosphere, the beer was delicious, and it was dog friendly! They even had little treats for our pups! We had such a great time we went back the following day and they had live music.
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
Open on the patio and service is from a trailer/food truck, nice guys working outside while the inside is open for restrooms only. They have some of the best barrel age beer around. Could use a few more heaters outside.
google avatar

Mandi A.

Yelp
I love this little brewery...in fact its my favorite in Bend!! Not only is it a cool venue with rustic modern decor and awesome/friendly/knowledgeable staff...but they have GREAT BEER!!! When I was there last, this is what I tried... -The Mango daze--surprising good mango IPA that doesn't taste like cough syrup...they nailed it!!! -The Killer Queen- Brut IPA...DELICIOUS! -Snakebite-Stout...solid but too much coffee tast for me -Dark Side-Choc Stout...soooooo good, I couldn't stop drinking it! I love coming here and playing cards with my friends while sipping some suds. I stop by anytime I find myself in town.
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
Great beer, fun live music, friendly staff. We love the food trucks especially The Bob has amazing Z'atar fries and falafel.
google avatar

Kezia S.

Yelp
Such a cute brewery! Unfortunately there was going to be a live event inside so they prefaced it'd be super loud and advised us to sit outside. Outside was really lively (however it was a Saturday night so that's understandable). A lot of spots next to the fire pits were taken. We snagged a spot at a not working pit, and someone came over and asked if it needed to be fixed. They fixed it right away and then we enjoyed a nice beer next to the fire pit.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
The Chicken Kebob at The Bob is delicious...it's not really a kebob but chicken, lettuce, tomato, cabbage and 2 different scrupulous sauces wrapped in a tortilla for easy eating...so good...highly recommend and the laid back atmosphere of Silver Moon definitely enjoyable...my husband's a beer drinker but I enjoy cocktails...not alot of food truck pods serve cocktails...but Silver Moon does...best of both world...

Hutchie T.

Yelp
We are a touring band from Seattle and really enjoyed playing at Silver Moon. Very fun atmosphere and kind staff & clientele. Thanks to Jeshua for helping out our little band with the show. 10/10 would play there again!
google avatar

Jonny H.

Yelp
$30 cover for a fucking DJ?!? YGTBFKM! So many good beers in Bend. Won't bother with Silver Moon ever again.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Ok, didn't have any food but the beers were awesome. Had the dogs with us so we needed to sit outside. It was a gorgeous day and their patio is amazing. When I did go inside the service was friendly and informative about what was going on that weekend at the brewery. I would definitely recommend this place.
google avatar

Kat O.

Yelp
Amazing! We went 9/2020 so just outdoor dining, with access into the indoors for the bathroom. Plenty of seating, and shade. Order at the bar and go get your food there once it's ready. Limited menu, but the food was seriously so great. When I saw they had sidewinder fries I knew I had to go, and they did not disappoint. Delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked. Only pic I took was of the cheesy jalapeño tots - they were delicious. Not spicy, like I had hoped, but great. Loved that they weren't like "bar food" type greasy! Staff was very friendly. The rest of the food and beer rocked, too!
google avatar

Natalie C.

Yelp
This was such an amazing place! Makes me want to move to Bend in the future. They had a delicious cider (see photo), and a beautiful outdoor seating area. Lots of shade for a hot day, "F-Cancer" merch, their own merch, and plenty of drink options. I'm not a huge beer drinker so I try to find new ciders to try and these are definitely a must! Staff was excellent, they wore masks (though they weren't very picky if you, yourself, weren't wearing one), and they were overall very helpful and kind. This was our first and last stop on our "Boozy Bike Ride" which I also highly recommend if you are a.) a drinker b.) vacationing with friends or family Though I would recommend that you wear summer type clothes if you're planning to do this is the summer because riding a seven person bike in 84 degree weather became a bit much for wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Overall, I would definitely come back to Silver Moon and I look forward to bringing my family here next time I travel down!

Yelp
Great beer, beautiful friendly setting, excellent food trucks. Possibly the best outdoor setting in Bend
google avatar

Yelp
Silver Moon ranks high on my list of Bend brewpubs. They do a lot of things right. Not huge, the bar is nicely laid out with good seating options for groups, couples or solos. It can be loud but it's from people, not music. While there are a few TVs, this is not a sports watching pub. It's a hang-out-with-beer-buddies kind of pub. They have a huge patio. It's located behind the pub, accessed from the side door to the alley or from the parking lot. There's a separate beer station out there and a food truck (trailer). Beer: - Very good Snake Bite porter. - Very good Get Sum pale ale. - Mango Daze is solid if not exceptional. - IPA 97 is also quite good. Food: - The menu at Silver Moon is limited and not terribly vegetarian friendly. - So-called 'best burger' is only average, failing mainly because of the mediocre bun. - Fries are OK, a bit salty. - Chicken 'street' tacos are quite tasty (this was a special, not on the menu). You might need two orders - you get two tacos per order but they're small. - Onion soup OK, a bit bland. - Mac & cheese is excellent, some of the best I've had and I've lived a long time in BBQ country where mac & cheese side is like a religion. I ordered it straight up with no added meat. Great service from roving servers. Monday is cheap beer night. Seemingly like all Bend bars, it is busy at 5-6 but clears out a bit after that. They have a large dedicated parking lot in the back behind their patio area.

Yelp
Driving through Bend and needed a quick place to stop for lunch. We hit the goldmine with Silver Moon Brewing! The location is right off the freeway (but the car noise isn't too loud and is relatively ambient). Love how much outdoor space they have - can accommodate lots of social distancing. Their food is AMAZING. I can't speak more highly of the quality and quantity of the food we received. Since we were on the road we opted for non-alcoholic beverages but wish we had more time to sample some of their beers. We are driving through Bend again in a few weeks, and a stop at Silver Moon is already on our list.

Janice H.

Yelp
I've gone to Silver Moon 3 times to listen to music. The bands always start at least 2 hours after the stated start time so they end ridiculously late. That's it for me and live music at Silver Moon. I have other things to do besides sit and watch freeway traffic while I wait.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
We stopped in to Silver Moon for some beer tasting while we were visiting Bend on the recommendation of a friend, what a great place. It was quite warm so we sat inside, a very nice tasting room and it was awesome they have a wheelchair accessible bar. We both ordered a tasting flight of beers, such cute tasting glasses! We also ordered the pretzel and it was quite yummy. We really enjoyed the beers and ending up buying some to take home as well. I would love to visit again and sit outside in the courtyard, under the string lights and enjoy a Simon Says!
google avatar

Naomi L.

Yelp
This place had live music, delish beer and partners with local food carts! I chose to order food from a place called Whappos with delicious Caribbean food. Still require masks for milling about when you're not eating or drinking! Great weather in Bend, Oregon. Even is pet friendly! Great place!
google avatar

Rachael H.

Yelp
I'm torn on this review... if I was just rating the beer, it'd be 4 stars. If I was just rating the food, it'd be 2 stars. I really wanted to like the chickpea collard greens wrap, but the execution was all wrong. This girl can eat, and also HATES wasting food, but I couldn't get through it. The collard green stems on the leaves used to make the wrap were so think and tough, it cut the roof of my mouth. And, I'm not sure how the combo of fresh veggies and roasted chickpeas ended up being bland, but it was. Hubs had the chili, which was nothing to write home about, and was served with two pieces of plain white bread. I get that some people may like it like that, but his was pretty blah as well. The beer was tasty, so hopefully they can improve the food experience. I'm not sure I'll eat here again, but I'll definitely be back for brew!
google avatar

Sidney S.

Yelp
Unfortunately if you're not a local, they are not a fan. You do the bike bar, you end up here and I 10/10 do no recommend. Beer is mediocre. Food is half open. I would not come back.

Tracey S.

Yelp
Cool spot. Sit inside and listen to music. Sit outside and enjoy a nice afternoon and deliciousness from a food truck.
google avatar

Patrick H.

Yelp
This is a great divey brewery. It's a few blocks from downtown and is almost directly under the railroad tracks. Some evenings they have live music. Although I don't think either of the bands I saw playing will ever get a recording contract, they were entertaining. The beers I tried were great. The Hop Nob IPA was good and the IPA 97 was phenomenal!
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
We stopped by here for lunch and we were worried because it's hard to have a meal outside when it is so cold! But I appreciate any restaurant trying to forge ahead during this time. I can't even imagine how difficult it is right now. This place was wonderful! Lots of space outside to sit and they will let you borrow a personal heater. They also have multiple fire-pits and larger heaters around the seating area. The guy were ordered with was so nice and helpful! He was cleaning off seats for people and making sure that everyone had a place with some heat. We ordered the frickles and lumberjack bowls. WOW they were both really good but the lumberjack bowls were amazing!! The meat was flavorful, so tender it was falling apart, and just a tiny bit crispy. I'm not even a radish person but the radishes in this dish tasted so good. There were a few ingredients that I was exactly sure about. However, I decided to give it a try how it came and I am so glad I did. The flavor was delicious! Get the lumberjack bowl! I also got a hot toddy and it was very balanced and yummy. This place is great.

Yelp
Nice brew pub on the edge of downtown Bend. We didn't have any food, but we did enjoy the beer. Nice variety of beers to chose from ranging from Pilsner to sour ale to IPAs to porters. Initially the pub was a little warm(18 July), but it was taken care of once we told the wait staff about the temperature. They also have a nice outdoor patio for enjoying food & beer. Definitely a place to stop while tasting all the difference beer brewed in Bend. This is in my top 5 places to go for beer an a place not to miss while downtown
google avatar

Sara W.

Yelp
I love Silver Moon. Its one of the lesser known Bend breweries, but it is high quality. They always have a number of delicious beers on tap (which they eagerly let you sample if you're having trouble choosing, which is always the case for me) and they serve some yummy food. Recently I had their Tropic Zombie IPA and I loved it! Very citrus forward, which I enjoy. Their Maibock was great as well. And the food is fabulous! I am particularly a fan of their tacos, specifically the beef one. Tender and flavorful served on great corn tortillas. Their pretzels are also amazing! But I was disappointed by the cheese sauce that accompanies them -- it was thin and kind of flavorless. Their fries are great, especially accompanied by their yummy ranch dressing. They also have awesome weekly events! I just went to a trivia night and was thoroughly impressed; it was super fun and I like that it started at 7pm. But definitely get here by about 6:30 if you want to get a table for trivia... Maybe even by 6:15... It is a popular place.

Yelp
Silver Moon is OPEN for business again; after being closed this past Summer for renovation. I just wanted to set that fact straight immediately, since my previous review was removed for supposedly having out-of-date info. (Even though I thought I was quite clear about their re-opening) Long story short: As part of a beer tour of Bend, I had walked several blocks out of my way to Silver Moon Brewing, after checking Yelp and the Silver Moon website. There was no obvious indication on either site that Silver Moon was closed; but when I showed up at their door (on a Saturday in August) they were locked up tight; a sign on the door said they were closed for renovation. That's what happened. I did not make it up. I was a little annoyed; and so I wrote the story up on Yelp at a later time. I said that Silver Moon was not "not adequately informing the public of their status". I still believe that a total lack of communication is a valid complaint against a business. But again, that was IN THE PAST. Please note, again, that SILVER MOON IS OPEN for BUSINESS. But I'm still not a fan. And considering this latest, er "development", I do not intend to visit them if I'm in Bend again. There are just too many brewpubs that I missed while here, and those have better ratings. Have a nice day.
google avatar

Brian O.

Yelp
Silver Moon has gotten much better lately and they're doing an awesome outdoor patio in stages. We've been coming here since the remodel and it was a bit of a slow start and not as good as expected. I understand there are kinks to iron out so I waited on leaving a review until I felt they were ready. Last time we went there was for an event with their neighbors CVT and they nailed it. Beer was good, food was great, service was fantastic and the outdoor area is absolutely awesome. Great job at getting all the pieces together! We will absolutely be back.
google avatar

Annie R.

Yelp
Jonah is awesome! Great service good margaritas! He was awesome. Wonderful service and smiles all around.
google avatar

Constance H.

Yelp
Great spot to stop at. The staff was super attentive! We peddled our little hearts out and the place is beautiful. Even on a hot 102 degree day in Bend. The outside patio area is wonderful. Beer is cold and refreshing and the environment welcoming and relaxing! This is a nice place to check out when one comes to Bend. Even with COVID-19 going on the staff were efficient in cleanliness and accommodating our group of friends.

Garrett Dan G.

Yelp
12 pieces of fried pickles for 8 dollars... cheap finger food should be able to be shared not an awkward table convo on how cheap silver moon is with cheap bar food.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
My new favorite place!! The jalapeño cheddar tots are amazing!! Along with the mango daze! Been loving that beer for a long time and finally went to Silver moon! So worth it!

Spencer K.

Yelp
The beer is no joke here.... Super good! Silver moon is definitely deserving of 5 stars. The ambiance is perfect for a nice little brewery and the bartenders are very friendly.

Amy R.

Yelp
Another nice brewery that we haven't been to in ages. A large selection of beers, however half of them were IPA's (this the 4 stars). Not always my go to beer , but we have them 6 of them a try. In order, because of IBUs and strong aromas. SMB IPA, Simon Says Hazy IPA, IPA 97 and Adrift in the Dark Hazy IPA (I liked this one best). We also had a Solo Mission Pils and Panty Dropper Pale. Accompanied by pretzel knots. Everything was delicious. Service was great. Nice outdoor area behind the tasting room. Off the beaten path, but very walkable location from downtown. Weather permitting of course. Go there you must!
