Google
We went to this restaurant twice for dinner and honestly that was the best food we had in Chicago during the 3 days we spent there which is kind of funny. Great Thai food in Chicago - sounds out of place. The restaurant is very easy to locate with maps and is quite close to the Magnificent Mile - depending on which part of the Michigan Avenue you are of course. The restaurant is is a sort of basement and I noticed that it’s always busy with people dining in and the Door Dash guys picking up orders from here. The menu is a nice balance of vegetarian and non-vegetarian and priced reasonably. It cost us roughly $35 for dinner for 3 which is fantastic. And the portions are decent too. I just wish they served a little more rice with the curry - my only complaint about this place. Service is great, food is yum and if you are struggling to figure out what to eat - just go here. You won’t be disappointed. Like I said before in 3 days we we were here twice for dinner. Nuff said…

Google
I don't get the low reviews at all because this place is a true hidden gem of Chicago. Very tasty food, extremely well priced especially considering the area it's in, and it's open late! The wait time was unexpectedly long but not too bad, and anyway well worth it. Perhaps the best food we had in Chicago.

Google
My first time here and I loved it. It's a pretty small place so it gets filled up quite easily but the tables turn to turn over pretty quick. Everybody gets Thai tea . I had the chicken with green curry sauce and it was very good and a big portion too! This restaurant is in the same building as the Thai embassy so they are very authentic and they're cooking and they tend to have a lot of international people as Patriots. I definitely will be back often!

Google
Got the Thai Basil fried rice with tofu, and it was really good!! Served really hot even though we got takeout and they made sure to add chili and soy sauce on the side. The foods good here!!

Google
Wow. So far, this is the best Thai I’ve had in Chicago. Got the Basil Fried Rice and Curry Fried Rice both with chicken. So flavorful. Finally fried rice that doesn’t taste like just soy sauce. The Basil fried rice is fresh and has plenty of vegetables. Can taste each one and the flavors come together to create a beautifully bright dish. The curry fried rice is exactly as advertised. Lots of curry and flavor. This is the farthest meal from bland I’ve ever had. Can’t say enough. I’ll be back for more. I’m adding this to my list and will be coming back regularly. This is my go to Thai restaurant.

Google
Definitely the best late night place in downtown. I was the only one in there eating on a late weekday night. The green curry was phenomenal. It exceeded my expectations. Rice soup was also very good. If you can't find something late night to eat, go ahead and do yourself the favor go here. Don't expect bougie food, just exactly what you need.

Google
The best thai food i have ever tasted. We ordered take out to our hotel after concert and this place was opened super late. My favourite was the wings, chicken skin, papaya salad and Thai fried rice. The mango sticky rice and jackfruit sticky rice was delicious too! Definitely recommend!

Google
Absolutely amazing place to have good Thai food. I have dietary restrictions which they kept in mind and still delivered awesome delicious food. We had a chicken rice soup, red curry noodles and chili chicken noodles. Each and every dish was really delicious.

Yelp
When we got in we were sat asap and it was great because it was rain hard outside. We did have a reservation but they didn't take down our name when we arrived. The service was great and the food was better. I ordered the shrimp in a blanket and the hot beef and chicken curry fried rice. The hot was actually hot without being over powering and it was amazing. There is a dish on the table that had spices you can add to your dish to make it hotter and it definitely kicked the rice up another level. If you cannot handle spice I would suggest you do not touch the dish .

Yelp
Grabbed dinner here when visiting a friend in the city! Cheap, no-frills Thai restaurant. The crab ragoons were delicious and crunchy. I feel like most restaurants don't season the filling well but Silver Spoon nailed it. I ordered the pad see ew with today, which came in a generous portion and was made with thick, chewy rice noodles. Not the best I've ever had but it certainly hit the spot. My friends ordered the red curry and soft shell crab curry, both of which were also pretty good! Overall, great place to grab a quick and yummy dinner.

Yelp
Went here with some friend for a Thursday night dinner. The place is a little hole in the wall restaurant with minimal seating so it took a while to get a table for 4. The service otherwise was decent. Here's a review of the food items: - Veggie Curry Puffs: Reminded me of a classic Indian samosa. It was some filo dough filled with some spicy potatoes and we thoroughly enjoyed them! - Gyoza: The chicken filled gyoza itself was pretty plain as expected from a gyoza. The outside was crispy. The sauce it came with was quite viscous. Overall, a decent starter but definitely not better than the veggie puffs. - Green Curry: The green curry was delicious. It came in a nice terracotta bowl. It was a pretty decent portion and all the veggies seemed fresh. - Panang Curry: It was good, but came in an interesting plate. There was plenty of chicken in it and the flavor was delicious. - Kai Soy: The presentation of this dish was beautiful. The flavor was good. 5/5 - Thai tea: DELICIOUS! - Thai tea with lemonade: Sour enough to make you pucker. If you like sour, you will enjoy this drink otherwise, I would stick to a classic Thai iced tea. Overall, the experience was pretty pleasant. The food came out quick and it was good! I would recommend going here for some good Thai food in the city.

Yelp
It is in a ground level unit downstairs so it is a bit dim. The outdoor seating out front is not theirs. Lunch special deal is good and they give you a lot of food. Service was fast also. Flavor was a bit overdone for my liking on the noodles.

Yelp
I'm in Chicago for work and I'm staying on the Mag Mile. I had a craving for Thai and decided on Silver Spoon because it was closest to my hotel and I'm feeling lazy. With mixed reviews I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had a good experience. I ordered the tom yum with shrimp, and the pad thai with vegetables and tofu. Portions were generous and prices were very affordable, especially considering the location. I had to add a splash of soy sauce to the pad thai bur overall the flavor was good. The one thing I will note is that if you order your meal "spicy" (level 3 out of 4), it will be very spicy! I can normally handle a lot of heat and often have to add additional hot sauce/chili flakes at other Thai restaurants, but the level of spice here was on the upper limits of what I could handle.
google avatar

Yelp
All in all a very average experience. The chicken coconut soup was tasty but lacking in substance. 90% liquid. The shrimp pad thai was quite good. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars as compared to other Thai restaurants. Service was fast and friendly, but unfortunately the soup came out at the same time as the pad thai. I was literally the only customer in the restaurant. Timing appetizer and entree delivery would not have been that difficult. The dining room is clean and comfortable. It's in a basement. Not sure how a disabled person would get in here.

Yelp
Place was quaint, service was kind, food was absolutely terrible. Pad see ew was the only one that was decent. Pad thai tasted like ketchup. drunken noodle tasted too salty for me. Curry was nothing special. papaya salad was all lime. tempera was just variation of onion rings (not the typical tempura batter). Overall, food was not up to par

Yelp
Below average, really!!! On a friends recommendation, my friend and I ordered at Silver Spoon through DoorDash delivery app. So I can't say much about the service and the ambiance. My rating is only for the food. The food arrived on time. We got vegetarian spring rolls, spicy drunken noodles and chicken panang curry. We expected the spring rolls to be crispy but it wasn't. They were stuffed with bean sprout, cucumber and tofu. It came with plum sauce which I wasn't a big fan of. Now for my main dish: in Chicken Panang Curry, there wasn't enough curry. They barely added any curry in the box. There was only chicken and the flavor was absolutely bland. I had a bite of drunken noodles. It was alright but way too spicy for my taste. Def lived upto it's name "spicy" drunken noodles. . Overall the food was a let down in terms of quality and taste both. I don't think I'll ever order/dine in the restaurant!

Emily S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here for a quick bite while up in River North. The atmosphere was great, as it's a bit smaller than other restaurants up this way. The service was great and friendly, and we both loved our food. The Thai iced tea was absolutely fantastic. Would recommend this place for a casual lunch or dinner!

Yelp
We've gotten the Chicken Pad Thai and side of Crab Rangoons delivered to our home twice now and loved them! We used to go to Star of Siam, but their food quality has worsened lately, so I'm grateful we found this spot. I've not eaten in the restaurant yet, so can't speak to that, but the food being delivered experience is great. Food is good quality, you can choose spice level, and its well priced at about $14/meal.

Yelp
+++Authentic Thai food in River North +++ Food - 4/5 The duck curry and Tom yum soup were so good and authentic. However, we are disappointed with the sampler. Nothing special. Service: 4/5 Service is good, and they allow to Byob. Ambiance: 4/5 Little cute restaurant locate in the basement of the duilding. Price: 5/5 Price is fair. Around $50 for two. Try their lunch special for lunch, it's even cheaper.
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered pad Thai and this has to be the worst pad Thai ever!!! 10 bean sprouts Under cooked noodles Over cooked chicken dry as the desert No scallions No tamarind in the sauce Bad wait service Don't waste your money!!!!!
google avatar

Stacey H.

Yelp
Seriously can't beat the price for thai here, especially in the River North/Streeterville/Near North Side area! Their lunch specials are great (appetizer and main dish, with several popular options to choose from) and their dinner prices are very reasonable as well! Whenever I see crispy noodles, I always have to get it, so I got the crispy curry noodle (which had panang curry--has a peanut taste to it if you're not familiar) with chicken and a thai iced tea. Would go back to try other dishes, and maybe do BYOB next time! Friendly and attentive service--my water glass was always filled and they checked to see if everything was fine a few times. It's a small basement space which gives a much more warm and casual vibe than most restaurants in the area, which I enjoyed!

Yelp
I recently ordered from Silver Spoon Thai on a Friday night, and was slightly disappointed. We ordered Vegetarian spring rolls, Spicy Drunken Noodles and Chicken Panang curry. My friend felt that Panang Curry was a bit solid and not in liquid form as we would expect a curry to be. The spring rolls were good, and different. We were expecting spring rolls to be crispy however it was a unique combination with minced veggies, fried tofu rolled in a sheet and I also liked the plum sauce it was paired with. Spicy Drunken noodles were decent, it could have more veggies though!
google avatar

Suhani A.

Yelp
Ordered a red curry in delivery and thought it was absolutely delicious with amazing flavors, though it felt too overpriced for the portions! Would love to stop by and person though because prices are def higher due to delivery as well

Yelp
Omg I Dream about this Thai food. I can't wait to go to Chicago to go back. It is a small restaurant and daily quiet depending on who's in there as well. The food was really good and filling. I everything tasted really fresh also the black sauce that comes with the chive or cilantro dumpling is a little spicy but the best sauce I've ever tasted.

Yelp
I was visiting my family in chicago and we (3) went here for dinner 1.5 hours before closing. Service was awful, and there was a clear distinction between how we were treated versus EVERY other table in the restaurant. We waited 25 minutes before we were even addressed (water/silverware) and additional 20 minutes for our food. At the end, we were greeted with "sign here" and no eye contact when it came to signing the check for a tip and the table next to us got a "thank you so much enjoy your evening" on their way out. It was insulting and felt like a hostile environment to me. I couldn't recall anything that we could have done wrong as customers as well to be treated like that. We ordered pad Thai based on the recommendation that this place had the best pad Thai ever. It was the WORST pad Thai I've ever had in my life. It was nothing but sweet and lacked flavor completely. Additionally, you could see that they topped the broccoli without cooking it (because I asked for no eggs and broccoli instead) and it was an afterthought for them. The drunken noodles were delicious BUT lacked noodles??? And 90% of that dish was vegetables (the picture was before we even took a bite). I can't recommend based on my experience and can't recommend that others go in if they are going to be treated and disregarded the same way my family and I was. I felt hurt at the end of the meal especially with the way the host (who looked like she ran the place) dismissed us for the check after she ran the card.

Yelp
The restaurant is small and the food are very comforting. My friend and I were there during Chicago Marathon Week, we ended up coming in to this restaurant for our carbo loading. The portions were generous, we ordered shrimp fried rice , beef basil, sweet & sour chicken (just ok) and Bamee BBQ Pork was yummy. The appetizers such as Tom yum soup, fried tofu and sample platter were good too. This is the place to go when you are craving for some comfort food.

Janki M.

Yelp
Did an order pickup and won't be going here again...I ordered the pad Thai and it smelled so funky and almost as if it was leftover from three days ago. Husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken, they forgot the rice and since when does this dish have tomato's in it? Didn't seem out together at all and the chicken was chewy....

Anita H.

Yelp
The atmosphere was very cozy, the service was excellent. The servers were very friendly. For $30 plus tip I felt the servings were rather small, most of the meat was tuff in the main dish. The cucumbers had not marinated enough in the tasty sauce. But, the sticky rice mango was delicious just that the serving was rather small.

Yelp
Well after coming out from a drafting exam this morning for the metropolitan cook county Chicago water reclamation plant I stumbled it into this restaurant walking along the way since it was lunch time that I finished my exam. Although I was a little down because of the exam getting half of them right and half of them wrong I was already hungry and originally I was going to go for Spanish food from Spain but saw this restaurant next to the Thai embassy of Chicago. Since I had a lot of time of parking using spot hero to the next day I decided to just have my lunch here. I must say I was very impressed for me to usually give five stars for a Thai restaurant and it's not even bougie or haute Thai. It was traditional Thai but the ingredients they used to making their curries and all the dishes I ordered that I pray before was very fresh tasting. I started off with one beverage of Thai iced tea which tasted typical and I never tasted really bad Thai iced tea where it was just too frothy with whatever they use for the cream. I then had the chicken Tom kha soup with lemon grass, Basil and mushroom served in traditional sukhothai clay pots and it was a wow delicious. The mushrooms, lemon grass, basil and other ingredients were really fresh with the chicken. I then had the beef red curry also served in traditional sukhothai clay pot and it too tasted like very fresh traditional Thai ingredients like how I remember eating and dining in Thailand back in 2016 Bangkok. Most Thai restaurants here the ingredients are present or The taste and aroma is present but the freshness is not in regards to Basil lemongrass or any of the fruits over there in Thailand. It has that day before storage or refrigeration taste that is not as fresh that most Thai restaurants deliver if any other Ethnic cuisine. The service was very fast and responsive so I didn't wait too long for lunch time and for them to deliver their food was like less than 20 minutes but everything was fresh amazingly. Ambience was your traditional Thai decor but do come here the food it wasn't that expensive I spent about $40 plus the tip. It's right next to the Chicago Thai embassy building which is possibly why the food was better or fresher tasting is my assumption why Do come here if you're just passing by on this side of a rush between Erie and Superior.

Yelp
3.5/5 overall. Solid on the common Thai dishes and I couldn't finish the more uncommon ones. Might more more on me and my palate. Pad Thai - 3.5/5. Nice level of fish sauce. Veggie turned out well. Yellow Curry - 3.5/5. Light and tasty. Banana sticky rice - 1/5. Really odd rice, couldn't finish Sai Krog Le-Sarn - 1/5. Felt well fried and made, but the heavy pork flavor and kick of the spice was too much for me. Couldn't finish.
google avatar

Morgan P.

Yelp
our go to thai food for takeout! drunken noodles HIT from here and everything is always so fresh and prepared fast. we always get the dumplings, chicken fried rice and Tom kha Soup. sometimes will add on pad thai but prefer to do drunken noodles over their pad thai. my only complaint is they charge like $5 for extra peanut sauce and the container is pretty small. I wouldn't mind the additional charge if they gave you more sauce because i do love their sauce. we usually do pickup but whenever we dine in they are always great and efficient
google avatar

Sheila P.

Yelp
This place was ok. We had a noodle dish with BBQ pork. It came with a broth which was flavorful but the meat itself was an odd consistency and didn't have much flavor. We tried something new but won't be back. Sorry, no photos.
google avatar

Toshi L.

Yelp
I came here on Tuesday night and There was no wait. Nice small space and all the staff were very welcoming! I had pad see ew and green curry. Green curry was good. The curry was creamy but I wish they put more curry soup in it. There were too much vegetables for me. Noodles on pad see ew was a bit too soft but it was still flavorful! The manager/owner lady was very kind!
google avatar

Denise P.

Yelp
The food was cooked to order, and the service was good. They do not have Coke or Pepsi, but you can bring your own or just drink water. This is a quaint place downstairs. But it didn't feel like eating in a basement

G P.

Yelp
I ordered the $12.95 specials one currie chicken and one Currie beef. The curried beef meat was tough with bite size thin morsels and barely any meat. It was mostly Currie sauce. The chicken was better but again cut to thin morsels and barely any meat just a lot of sauce with a few potatoes And some peas For the appetizer I got 3 bite size crab rangoon the smallest I have ever received at any Thai restaurant but they were tasty. The spring rolls were bigger and tasted ok. I told the waitress that the curry beef was hard/tough to see if she could exchange. She seemed offended and said "that's what she ordered". I told her it was not good she just stared. I had to order something else I chose the pad Thai with shrimp which was better. I don't recommend beef dishes. The taste of the Currie was ok. I however feel like you do not get enough food with the specials. There are better Thai places In Chicago.

Barton F.

Yelp
Great little place, especially their Massimon Curry put on rice! Plus their other tasty dishes and desserts like Mangos and Sticky Rice!! When I came back to Chicago I had to come here first! Nice Thai People work here, also!
google avatar

Jason W.

Yelp
I've only ever gotten deliveries from Silver Spoon, but the food always arrives hot, tasty, and plentiful! Great for a quick fix of Thai food. When friends come over, this is often where we'll get food delivered from and we enjoy it. For my usual order of pad see ew with chicken, they're consistently great and I have no complaints. I wish there were more Thai restaurants in the area--and there are places better though farther--but Silver Spoon remains my go-to in this neighborhood.
google avatar

Sabrina G.

Yelp
I can literally eat here every single day! Best in Chicago hands DOWN!!! I come here at least twice a month Ahaha only because I live so far away or else I'd probably be here everyday. The papaya salad is the best I have ever had and I'm from west coast so I've had lots of different authentic flavors from different hands but this one!! The tang mixed with the spice is the perfect balance, oh and the pad see ewe is loaded with deliciousness, my taste buds are always in the mood for this dish! Ohhhhweeee and all the soups!!!!!! To die for ahahah let's just say you can't go wrong here!!!! This place is the absolute BeST! And prices are GREAT
google avatar

Yelp
Best Thai food I've had in awhile. Very authentic and delicious. And we are very picky about our Thai food. Everything we ordered we loved. Forgot to take some pics because it was so good couldn't wait. Saw the low star reviews but gave it a try anyways and so glad we did. We order the Tom yum, glass noodle salad, seafood stir fry with veggies (pad talay) never had this or the glass noodle salad before and was blown away super tasty!! The staff was excellent and so very nice really enjoyed ourselves. Ended the meal with mango and sticky rice. Highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Collin S.

Yelp
Silver Spoon serves a very tasty Green curry which is my favorite Thai dish. The waiter I have had both times is excellent, he's very friendly and gives solid new food items to try from the menu. It's always bustling but the food arrives on time and tastes great. It's a fun joint on Rush Street.
google avatar

Kheng C.

Yelp
Old and dated deco, food is not up to a novice standard. Ordered four take out to avoid the not so clean dine in. Cashier packed two pair chopsticks, no napkins or spoon for my rice entrees. Had to walk back two blocks to ask for it, only to meet with an attitude. Food portions are small consider the price. Not a value given all considered. Anyway avoid this place when possible, unless you have no clue about Thai food flavor.

Reina B.

Yelp
For &12.95 this was what I received I haven't been there in a year the portions where exponentialy smaller Disappointed
google avatar

Kimberley W.

Yelp
We make sure we stop here every time we visit Chicago. The food is excellent and reliable. I find very few Thai restaurants that taste like the food I ate while living in Bangkok. This is one of them. Also, very reasonably priced--31.18 after tax for both the curry & noodles. So good!
google avatar

Loni K.

Yelp
Stopped by this cute little hole in the wall location in downtown Chicago. The food was exceptional and the service was very attentive! The curry was incredibly rich, which I am not used to honestly. But overall, we thought it was pretty good.
google avatar

Elah N.

Yelp
A small Thai Restaurant we found during our visit to Chicago. affordable price, service was good, and food was okay. If you're unsure what to order or what a specific food is, make sure you check!
google avatar

Leang E.

Yelp
Still a solid spot even after a decade later. My cravings often default to Thai food as of late and this hit the spot. This time around I did get to try some different items, being the papaya salad and the chicken pad Thai. I have to admit that the papaya salad is pretty spicy at the mild level, even for me who likes spicy so I can't even imagine how much spicier this could be! The chicken pad Thai had great flavor but will say that the noodles were a little bit overcooked for me. They really stuck together more and were softer and not as firm. Service was quick and staff was nice. Prices were reasonable, though I might have expected a little more for the papaya salad portion.
google avatar

Cheryl L.

Yelp
I was so disappointed back to silver spoon. It was tested horrible before around 2019, and I didn't go back again until this time. I ordered a $18.55 Tom kha shrimp noddle soup. Sour, nasty look, no any veggies but only cilantro. Won't be back again. Horrible!
google avatar

Ward W.

Yelp
Love this place and the food is great however anytime I ask for chili sauce she says she puts in the bag. She never does. I'm done going here. We spent 60$ and you can't get sauce 2 tiny little sauces. Why so stingy?
google avatar

Peretz H.

Yelp
We ordered both pad see ewe and drunken noodles and the two dishes were almost indistinguishable from a flavor point of view. Except for some differences in the veggies they were basically the same dish.

Sophia Z.

Yelp
Was so exited for some food and ordered online and spent over $80 and went to the restaurant to go pick it up. When we arrived they told us the order was cancelled and didn't refund us and when we tried to talk to staff they walked away and were rude and made us wait 1 hour for nothing. DONT come here they are rude and unprofessional, unprepared and honestly it smelled weird.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is literally a hidden gem. I randomly stumbled across it while I was out on a walk. It's a little hole in the wall. We got the vegetable egg rolls, the pad Thai and the basil fried rice. They were sooo good. They also had a special of fried curry pockets at that time and they reminded me a lot of samosas. The food was fresh. There was only one server and so, the service was a bit slow but we were ok with it because the food was so good. Definitely my favorite place to order Thai from. Chicago has a lack of good thai restaurants and this one is keeping my hopes high.
google avatar

Yelp
worst restaurant in chicago!!!!! we sat down, tony helped everyone else but us. calamari was over cooked, told tony he was an a**hole and didn't want to change it. treated me like crap. tony needs to be fired!!! but sad if hes a family member as he is screwing up all clients. no one seemed happy. bad vibe. never coming back!!

Yelp
I have only gotten take out from here. But it was extremely disappointing. I can't comment on the service or ambiance since it was take out. But the food was not v dry flavorful and disappointing.

Yelp
Ordered take out Khao soy - 4/5 Pad se ew - 3/5 Skewers - 3/5 Staff are friendly! What order takeout from here again it's convenient

Yelp
Great food!! Tum yung soup was amazing.pad thai was really good. Red curry was tasty and the portion size was good.

Yelp
We did an uberEats order from Silve Spoon. We ordered the chicken pad thai for noodles and the mango sticky rice. The food was still hot when we received the order, which was appreciated. The chicken pad thai did not really have too much flavor. The to go box was packed very nice, tight, and full once we opened it. The Mango sticky rice was okay, I think the mango wasn't the freshest but it was tart and the condensed milk on top made it too sweet.
google avatar

Hazel D.

Yelp
I loved this place's food. Probably my third favorite Thai I've had. The best I've tried in Chicago. I got the spicy drunken noodles. There was a perfect amount of vegetables and noodles. They had a great flavor. I also got the lime thai tea which was super weird, but also great. I just had never had anything like it before. It tasted pretty syrupy, but I enjoyed it. I didn't love the spring rolls. I'd try something else for an appetizer.

Yelp
This small/quaint restaurant had delicious, authentic dishes that came out quickly. We ate Asian/family style by sharing multiple dishes instead of each person ordering just one thing. The waitstaff was efficient and attentive. Papaya salad was amazing and very close to what I'd had on streets of Thailand.
