This is the Nordstrom of liquor stores!!! Friendly staff and great products! Also super clean!

Pretty crazy store, it changed my life being here for sure, especially with what the owner said to me. Highly recommended. They basically have everything and such a great location too. Only gets better and better each visit! There's a really good restaurant next door too. I'm not allowed to say what the owner said to me because it was a racial slur on February 23, 2018 that traumatized me for a long time! I don't care if he "said it with an A." I forgive him, but I still want to talk to him. It's affected me a lot. The two stars are for everyone that is still working there, and everyone that has started working there after I left, because they work too hard! There's no reason why a liquor store owner cannot apologize to a past employee for making them feel uncomfortable in their place of work after using a racial slur. I don't care what North Burbank gang he wants to pretend he's in. This isn't "Goodfellas", this isn't "Employee of the Month", this is like the movie "Waiting", but stretched out 4 years way too long. Definitely shop there every chance you get! I know I plan to.

Yes, this place is too good to be true and an online scan. They will send you an email after you try paying with a legitimate credit card telling you the payment for your order didn't complete. It gives you a BS excuses that a transaction may fail due to some reasons blah, blah, blah. Then they want you to pay for your item with Cash App, PayPal, Apple Pay, or Google Pay which is like giving them cash and there is no way to recover your money. The person you talk to is foreign and probably not even in the states. I believe Silver Sun Liquors was once a business but not longer. Don't let yourself be scammed.

They have the Modelo michilada beer that I love so much but no cheap little bottle tequila shots. We stop by here before we enter Los Globos club across the street for metal music gigs, the drinks inside the club are way overpriced.

IT IS NO LONGER "Silversun Liquor." It is a new place and the guy that works there is pretty cool. I buy my sweets, my altoids, beer, wine, etc. here. Good spot. They have many of my Argentine wines, love it!

TOTAL ONLINE SCAM! I ordered from Silver Sun Liquors, 2901 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026 online through their website using their chat. I was instructed to pay thru Paypals friend transfer to Petronala Owiti and given an order #1364 and an assurance they had the stock and would ship on the following Monday 05/16/2022. The order was never received and a week later I tried to contact them thru the website chat and was cut off when I gave my email address. I attempted to contact them via their phone numbers, left messages but got no call back. I have attempted a couple of times to make contact but there are no return calls via left phone messages, no responses to emails and refusal to chat online. Reporting this scam group to the California AG, FTC and the IC3 Org. hoping they lose their alcohol license.

This place is a online scam. They don't sell anything Beside making you believe that your order went thru with fake confirmation and fake tracking info with fed ex . They use cashapp for payment so you can't get your money back . If it's not visa or Mastercard don't order with these scammers .

I've popped in here occasionally and all the young men working have always been professional and polite. Tonight the older man behind the counter who I've never seen before made me very uncomfortable, commented favorably on my appearance with lingering stares then offered me a 'lollipop.' Fuck off.

This store is no longer called Silversun Liquor, and is run by different people. Unfortunately, the new owners have not created any online presence whatsoever! Where are you? I want to give you praise! Their selection is expansive; it's even more eclectic than most BevMo stores I've been to. Service is great, too. They have been very clean and reliable during the COVID-19 lockdown, delivering to nearby neighborhoods as well.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!. One phone was disconnected and the people who answered me sounded very suspicious with strange questions. This store no longer exists and you will lose your money should you order online.

TOTAL F'ING SCAM. I wish i could put on 0 stars, but my next review is going to be with Better Business bureau. They have a website where you can order liquor. FANTASTIC. When i put in my order, got to the $200 mark for free shipping, that's when it all starts falling to hell. Their credit card process is some new fangled 3-D verification which when researched online does not accept any US bank credit card (Chase, Capital One, etc). Ok, strange, but i thought i still wanted this order. The phone number goes to a google phone, so not even into the store (still a little more strange). Got a call back from someone there, who then asked if I could use Zelle instead. Fine. I'm a fan of working around the credit card company. But then after 2 days of Texts back and forth, and verification with the bank which said that he got the money, the guy at Silversun kept saying that they didn't. I've called several times to find out the status, and if my shipment will be going out. The only call i got back was asking if i could send the money again by Paypal, even though the Zelle money was clear and gone out of my bank account. Now i haven't heard anything back from them. So no shipment, and no $200. TOTAL SCAM. Unless you are walking into their location, do not trust these people. Makes me completely distrust the process at this point. Sucky lesson learned.

Don't go here. The woman who works here is rude as is the owner/manager. They are unreasonable. I have seen them sell to customers who look too young to buy liquor without bothering to ask for ID. Go somewhere else. Put these people out of business. Do the right thing.

You should go here just for the experience. When I walked in the owner/manager actually snarled at me. He looked like he hated my guts and wanted to kill me. Strange. I thought I was over reacting but when I walked back to pay there he was snarling again. I stared right back at him and he kept on giving that shitty look. I went up to pay he overcharged me and then added $1.00 for me to use my credit card. I asked him if he was charing me a buck to take my credit card (since there are no signs and he didn't say he was charging me a fee) and he gave me another shitty look and said yes. I told him forget it and he gave me an even shittier look (if that is possible). Like I said, go in here just for the amusement of it all. He is a piece of work.

So let me preface this review by saying this is the first experience with any business in Los Angeles (despite some very good, and very bad) that I've ever been motivated to write a review. I used to live a few blocks down from this store, I would visit regularly to pick up cigarettes whilst whilst waiting for the bus. Recently after dinner in Echo Park we went for drinks at the Thirsty Crow (great bar) upon running out of cigarettes my husband and I popped over to this store to stock up. We purchased and I mentioned that I used to frequent this store regularly but had unfortunately moved to Glendale and missed the Silverlake community. The man behind the counter asked us what it was like to live in Glendale with all the "Armenians" we honestly answered that whilst we loved our home it was hard to feel part of the community as we were quite isolated by the Armenian community as opposed to Silverlake where it was very welcoming. Instead of accepting our answer the man proceeded to berate us for being too diplomatic and pushed us to give a scathing report of the community we now live in. When we offered our rebuttal he gave us "fucking American's" talk (amusingly enough I'm not actually American but English and grew up in a large Indian community) and whilst we tried to reason with him he told us to "fuck off out of his store". The escalation of the situation hit the extreme very very fast with little interaction on our part. We left very quickly. All in all, not a fun experience from something which should have been a simple purchase and something I will now avoid forever and ever. This man is a bigoted fool, and is scarily psychotic. I'd actually be scared to return thanks to his abrasive and aggresive attittude. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Here is my experience... I walk in. I grab a six pack of beer. I bring beer to the counter to pay. I ask the cashier how his day is going. He tells me that all white people in America are racist, sarcastic, scumbags and he would like to try to F my girlfriend who is standing next to me. I am completely shocked and didn't realize if he was making a bad joke....he wasn't. He went one for 3-5 minutes trying to tell me off in every racist way possible. I honestly have never seen anything like it. I got upset and argued with him. He told me to get the F out and would not sell me beer....What an really really nice guy!!! I'll be back tonight!!!

You know that band with the guy who sounds like a girl that pretty much every guy I know who heard their "Lazy Eye" song said the exact same thing, "Damn, that chick sounds hot" only to find out that there was some vocal Crying Game sh*t going on, because he is in fact, a DUDE. Well, apparently, this is the liquor store that they got their name from. Apparently their rehearsal studio was nearby and whenever they would rehearse they would say, "Who's doing the Silversun pick up? meaning, who's makin the booze run? Hence, the high pitched chick soundin Silversun Pickups were born. As for the store, it's a liquor store, they have a working ATM machine which is handy if you are going to Pho Cafe up the street and need cash. They also have all of the standard liquor store fare and a pretty decent selection of bargain wines. And yes, yes, yes, they also have the underage porno mags and Juggs for those keeping score :)

This place use to be a dump, which must be why it has such a low rating. As an icon in silverlake the name remains and then new owners and staff now make this place awesome. I'd love to see their ratings climb as they seriously deserve it. Renovations were so needed and a lot of work went into fixing what once was. They brightened it up, added coolers, and cleaned the windows!! You can tell there's more pride in the space now. Staff is impressive and the highlight without a doubt. Every liquor store in the area should be trying to poach this guy. Super friendly, but in his own way, always cracking jokes and overall makes going there such a fun experience. All you need to do is open the door and hear his big welcome and you'll know what I'm talking about. The neighborhood just got better! Am I right people?

I am so sad that the liquor store across the street closed. That place was the best and the guy behind the counter was always so nice. A sharp contrast to Silversun Liquor. The lady behind the counter there was so incredibly rude to me. Also they put a lot of unexplained "tax" on their products.. Forget this place, they have lost my business for good.

I've been here about four times, and was disappointed in the beer selection each time. Oh, and the parking lot is small and awkward to get into and out of. Came back anyway the other night because it was convenient to where I was going, but that will be the *last* time... I walked in--there were no other customers there (and now I know why.) Made my selection and walked up to the register. The two people behind the counter were involved in a conversation and ignored me for at least a full minute: I nearly walked out before one of them finally condescended to take my money. Oh, and did I mention that he had an attitude? Sorry, buddy, if I intruded on your important conversation about where the bags are kept (not even "where are the bags, we ran out of them" but "where does he usually keep the bags:" really? That's so important that you can't take thirty seconds to help a customer? And BTW, when I asked the jerk to put my beer in a bag, he found one immediately, so it's not as if he didn't see where they happened to be at that moment.) Trust me, I won't intrude on you again... Drive up the street and go to Big Mac (Sunset @ Lucile), where the service is friendlier and the selection is better.

It was a bummer of a place back 5-10-15 years ago and its bummer now. The recent change over to these "mysterious" new owners is nothing different and only facade in my opinion. Every single item in here is marked up 3, 4,5 x times what it should be. It's previous owner was run by this guy who basically hated all its customers for years on end. He would accost, hassle, make fun of pretty much mock everyone that came in (read below) and had no kidding a huge magnum on his hip and sometimes on the counter. I'm pretty sure he is still the owner but probably got too many complaints over the years. I'm guessing the police got involved one too many times at one point and he had to "step back" to keep his biz. Its be rebranded sure and says it has new owners and maybe they are---(but mysteriously not on yelp) its an equally intimating experience as they stare at you and vibe you are trying to steal something.. when you use your C card you will notice extra debits charges on there for anything you buy. I called the bank and they reversed not one but 2 extra 2.50 charges in there. Just shop someplace else if possible!

Grab all of your party essentials here at the SSLQ. The prices aren't great but if you're in a hurry and you need smokes or some booze, they're an easy in and out. I've been in here 100 times and I still can't figure out the purpose of the little gate that lets you down the snack aisle. Maybe it's a drunk detector, since it opens outward verses a simple push-gate. Anyway, the giant middle-eastern man who appears to own the place is always pleasant and easy to talk to, especially when you're paying cash.

I was in SilverSun Liquor at about 10 pm on July 22, 2015. The proprietor became quite angry with the woman in line ahead of me (she was being rude). As she left, the proprietor just went off the rails ballistic. screaming: YOU FUCKING AMERICANS! GET OUT OF MY STORE NOW - I WILL KILL YOU - GET OUT! Everyone ran from the store of course. This man was in a terrifying rage. We were all lucky he didn't appear to have a weapon. I have no doubt someone would have hurt or killed, maybe me I spoke to LAPD. There is nothing they can do. But I for one will never again set foot within 50 yards of Silver Sun Liquor. Beware.

Wow, I should have read the reviews, but I thought it's just a liquor store right? It was almost unreal. Asked the guys two questions about his products and he went off the chain. He said "Why would I know about this, you where born here! If I were in my country I would slap you." He then grab the product from my hand and swiped at my face. Left laughing with my cash in hand. Not sure if the guy is a drunk or just bipolar. Good luck.

We sent in 3 different races to this liquor store. One white girl, one asian girl, and two black girls. The man behind the counter who we aren't sure his race kicked out the white girl and the asain girl when we were only looking at wine. He made best friends with the black girls. We figured out who he likes. Clearly even our diverse group was not good enough for him.

horrible service! every time i mistakenly go they charge me various amount of debit fees! depending on the day and employee your 6 pack might cost 10-15 dollars. go across the street to paul. hes seriously the sweetest man and the experience there is actually honest and sincere. avoid this place it sucks like the plague

Rarely do I leave one star but damn the guy behind the counter is just a dick. I went in to buy some cigarettes and he was arguing with a couple in front of us then when we approached the counter he kicked us out immediately. We hadn't even said anything for f's sakes. It was so rude it was comical. I just read some reviews from other Yelpers with similar experiences so I guess this is a semi-regular occurrence. If you need booze there are plenty of other options in the hood. Save yourself the hassle or go and see for yourself his distain for humanity is so unbridled that it might make you laugh. I did.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would! I've had a problem with this place for a while, they've been a mix of super nice and rude to us. We're very local- walking distance so we've been going there for years. They know my face on sight and know I"m a regular. I've always been slightly miffed by the sign they have posted: $1.00 charge for credit or debit cards. As a business owner myself I know this is a violation of their service contract with their credit card company. You can not charge extra to use a credit card. Lots of businesses do that, I know so I never said anything. But it always stuck with me. Then the other night my girlfriend and I were going for a bottle of wine to have with dinner at Local a few doors down. We chose one, got overcharged on the tax- yes overcharged on the tax. Only by .25, but it's the principal of the thing. Got to local and the wine was bad. Skunked. We brought it back and got grief that there's no way that it's skunked- the whole case would have to be bad and nobody else has brought it back. To their credit, they did finally exchange the bottle. But he told me if I didn't "like" the new one that I couldn't bring that one back. I tried to explain again that it wasn't about not "liking" the bottle but about it being skunked, that I drink that wine all the time (from someone else more affordable), and that I know what it should taste like. I have never ever had such an issue about returning a $10.00 bottle of wine (as overpriced as it was). Most stores take it back, immediately without getting other staff members involved and making a big deal about it. If we weren't on our way to dinner I would have dropped the whole thing, but we did want a bottle to have with dinner. I'm done. This store is overpriced and they nickel and dime you to death. $1.00 for credit card- overcharging for tax- and you don't get receipts. Anyone else notice that? If you pay with cash you don't get a receipt. grrrr.... done.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!! I got 3 MOUTHFULS OF SPIT in my face after I paid an absorbent amount for a 6 pack of beer. I came at the wrong time, the clerk decided that everyone who crossed his threshold had to listen to his rhetoric.... Which include him shaming me for saying FUCK, but screamed the very word every single time (I counted 3) as his SPIT in my face. I stood there in utter shock and disbelief. If I would have engaged this person it would have escalated and then who would be in the wrong. I am not one to get physical but I feel like my human RIGHTS were taken away when this grown man SPIT in my face, not once, but THREE times!!!! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE.

So, I signed up for yelp simply to review this place after the incident I had at Silversun Liquors today. Walked in, perused the drinks, grabbed a soda, walked up to the counter, said hello. Fine so far. Now, I'm a curious guy and a friendly guy. I'll talk to anyone. So, seeing that the man behind the counter had on a turban and an unusually styled beard, I assumed he's originally from some foreign land, so I politely asked, "can I ask you where you're from?". I always ask people where they're from. I have made friends with people from all over the world simply by starting a conversation by asking where they're from. Without delay, the man behind the counter proceeds to berate me about how I should not ask such questions and that I must be assuming that he is Muslim, but that he's not Muslim, and that I have been brainwashed by the American media. He told me how rude it was for me to ask him where he's from and that he's lived here for 15 years. I tried to explain to him that I was just attempting to make friendly conversation and that I frequently ask people where they're from. But he had already made his mind up that I was profiling him as a terrorist or something, so after mumbling something I can only assume was offensive, in whatever his native tongue happens to be(I never found out), he continued to snap at me in English before I said "well, don't expect me back in here" and left. Now, I'm sure he's probably had some racist comments hurled in his direction over the past few years. That's the only explanation I can come up with for how he reacted, but there was definitely a more polite option he could have gone with, as opposed to accusing me of essentially being some sort of racist. I really didn't even care where he was from, just trying to be friendly with the local shopkeeper.

Yes, what everyone else on yelp says is pretty true, the guy who runs this shop is incredibly rude, has a temper, and charges whatever he wants for items when you bring them to checkout. I've been in here a couple times: the first time he charged my friend around $15 for a pack of PBR, which we all knew wasn't worth the cost. The last time I was in there, the shop owner immediately kicked my friend out when he was asking about magazines, I assume because he thought my friend was making fun of him? Regardless, there is nothing good about this place other than it being open later than other liquor stores in the area. I recommend just buying your snacks, smokes and liquor elsewhere earlier in the day so you don't have to visit this place.

I'm so bummed that Paul's liquor (PM market) closed. Just got in an argument with the old guy behind the counter at Silversun because he over charged me for cigarettes. He said that the credit card fee was 75 cents and I told him I'm there every few days and it has always been 50 cents more which equals $8.50. Caught him in the act and he didn't know what to say. Then he goes and charges me $9. WTF?! So pissed.

Used to be a huge fan of Silversun Liquor on Sunset Blvd. That was until my best friend and I went in and as we were making the money exchange asked what radio station the beautiful religious Indian music was being played on. We were ignored. Upon the second asking of the question, we were told "It is Radio, you are wasting my time, next you will ask me what language it is and so on and so forth. We then said "We are musicians and genuinely interested". He then told us to "get out of my store" with some other things said that amounted to "all white people are the same and this music is not for you". We told him he was a racist prick and left. I am now going to go take my awesome Alan Lomax (white guy) recorded "World Library" Music of India album to his store and hand it over. I guess that music just isn't for white people to enjoy.

this place has been here FOREVER. seriously, over 25 years at least. it's in the same strip mall as the laundromat so as my pops waited for our clothes to dry in the dryer, he would take us over to silversun to buy my sis and i a bag of cheesy lays potato chips with the ridges. ahhhh...memories. well, it's THE silverlake liquor store. the one that inspired the silversun pickups to name themselves accordingly (read stephy's review for the 411). it has a bit of everything. you name it, they probably have it such as liquor, liquor, porn, porn, liquor, liquor, you know liquor and porn. it's kind of hilarious trying to get potato chips there as a kid and pretending that i don't see massive boobies on the racks. they also have a ton of snacks, emergency food items like ramen packets, and household items to clean up your puke because you drank too much. they also carry the coconut flavored fruit-a-freeze ice cream bars which i haven't found anywhere else but there so i visit them often in the summer when i need my fix. it's also very clean and you usually don't get the usual collection of drunks and wife beaters hanging about. 5 stars for all that stuff. but, i take away one star because i've patronized them long enough to say that sometimes, the owners there are really bitchy. i'll give them another 2 decades to prove me wrong and get that last star back.

The one star is for the super nice guy behind the counter, but he still couldn't make up for the fact that I was charged $27 for a 12 pack of Stella and a pack of Camel Crushes. $27! No way I'll ever come back here.

After reading all these shocking reviews, I realize that I had a relatively uneventful trip here. I came some little bottles of whiskey to slip in before dinner at Silverlake Ramen with my girl friend. There is a pretty good selection of snacks and alcohol to choose from and also quite a good selection of hard alcohol behind the counter. There were two people at the counter, a younger and older man who look to be Sikh by their turbans, but that's just a guess and not very educated one. They were polite and really quite nice to us. They added in a cute joke about how we didn't need bags because we would just put the alcohol in our bodies and also silently passed us some informational pamphlet about religion -I don't know which one, I threw it away. Now that I think about it maybe their lack of rudeness was because we were two relatively cute and friendly girls but either way I'd rather judge these people on the nice experience I had with them than the unfortunate experiences that other people seem to have had.

The owner of this place is insane. As soon as I walked in with my friends and told us we had to buy something immediately or get out. He also said anyone who wasn't buying something had to leave. When I got up to pay for my beer he proceeded to cuss me out and tell me how all Americans are terrible, loud, disruptive people. I tried to be polite and pay, but he would not run my card through the machine. He just kept ranting and raving. Then another man who either worked there or was just drunk and homeless chimed in and started yelling homophobic stuff to me. By this point I lost it and told the guy to shut up. Then he owner screamed at me and my friends to "get the fuck out!" but managed to swipe my card before I could tell him to forget the beer. I gave that terrible man 30 bucks! If you want to be verbally assaulted for over-priced liquor then I suppose this is a good place to go. Also, why don't they list the prices of anything? That sort of bugged me.

There was a man there tonight behind the register when I arrived at 11:41. It closes at 12. He informed me that it was better if I used the ATM but since i walked 6 blocks to get there by 12 I only had my ID and my VISA. I proceeded to wait more than 20 minutes while this asshole was on the phone - I've worked retail. He closed the credit card batch 20 minutes before the store closed and then he waited on hold with the cc company while saying not a word to me for over 15 mins. I finally piped up and said "what the hell is going on here?!' He told me he was not in customer service and threatened to not sell me the items i had been waiting oh so patiently for... "FUCK CUSTOMER SERVICE" is what he said. Well I say fuck silver lake. Fuck liquor stores that close at 12 and maybe fuck LA. This place sucks. FIRE THAT MAN! HE WAS WORKING TUESDAY NIGHT JUNE 14. PSYCHO

My credit card information was compromised after using the ATM in this store, $800 worth of unauthorized charges in one day. Do not use this ATM and watch your back!

Wow, if I could give less than one star! I used to come here all the time, and tonight the younger guy behind the counter was absolutely awful. Dude. It's a liquor store... My bar is not high. This was bad enough, I had to say something to the Yelp world, haha. Do not support this business! Support the amazing people over at Circle H Market! They're super sweet. Get Saucey, or go to literally any other liquor store. Yikes.

This place sucks! Visit Pm Market across the street! I only buy when Pm Market is closed or when I need something Pm Market doesn't carry.

Attention citizens! There are no prices on anything in the Silversun Liquor store for a reason. The prices, we are to believe, are all in the head of the dour, craggy, Rollie Fingers-mustachioed, be-turbaned fellow behind the counter. If he were to overcharge you, how would you know? How could you know? The prices are in his brain, not yours. With a $1.00 charge for credit or debit cards and a $2.75 charge to use the ATM it's clear enough that this clown is ripping you off every way that he can. When a six-pack of crappy beer costs 12 dollars, it's time to admit the obvious. Silversun Silversucks! So what do we do? I'm starting a band called The Silversun Boycotts.

I stopped in here to pick up some cigarettes the other night and I have never been treated so rudely! OK granted - I am not a habitual smoker, but was having a rough day and thought it might be nice to have a cigarette. I ask the guy for the brand I like, and he's like, "Well which one do you want?" (Keep in mind, I don't smoke all the time). He didn't have the particular brand on display so I asked, "Well what do you have?" He condescendingly counts the boxes "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8...I have 8 different kinds" Yeah, like that helps me decide, sir. He pauses and looks at me like I'm an idiot. Defeatedly, I said, "Just give me whatever." So he grabs a box, throws it on the counter and says, "That will be $7.75." I hand him my card and he says, "There's a $1.00 fee for using a credit card." Now normally, I don't care if there's an extra fee for using a credit card, but this time, it was just too much. I looked at him, grabbed my card, and said "You know what? Forget it, I'm not paying extra for your rudeness" and walked out. After reading other's reviews of this place, I think I got out of there kind of easy, but regardless - I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!!!!!

I'm surprised a few Yelpers had a bad experience here. Every time I'm here the owners are fantastically friendly and helpful. They've even let me get cash back and skip the ATM. It can be a little weird Thursday thru Saturday nights, with all the flocks of Silver Lake hipsters, but really that's just quality peoplewatching right there.
