Silverton Café

Granted we went like 30 min after it opened and I think it's more of a nightlife spot BUT: the food was good The drinks were good It's a dive but a I love a dive so I was happy. If you dig a dive bar with shit to do (for instance, tonight is trivia night), then you gotta get to Silverton Cafe. We'll definitely be going back.

I had wings and fries and the wings didn't really have any flavor The fries were cooked too hard but the band was good

Very mixed experience here. Some things were really good while others were less than hoped for. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Really tasty onion rings. Very cold draft beer. Decent Reuben. Staff was friendly, especially the bearded fellow behind the bar, Stephen. Plus side? Live music. Down side? Uneven sound from the live music. Has anyone heard of the concept of sound levels??? The service was INCREDIBLY slow. One of our dinner orders was completely forgotten. The hamburger was flavorless.

Good music venue! My group of 11 and I went to hear the Soul Quest Band (they are good). I got to the Silverton Cafe first and was able to get seating for all of us. Place looks very small on the outside but surprisingly large inside. Diverse crowd 😀 I was able to get broiled salmon which was quite good! Drinks strong enough too. Niiice!

Have been here many times. Dive bar with a twist.... They have great food and the place is very large. You could definitely have a party of 50 or so people here and not feel cramped at all.

Nice bar. Had a decent selection of food on the menu. Live music from the band Locking Up Otis. Darts and a pool table.

Bartender was sitting like a customer out side of bar. I walked in no one offer to get me a drink even after I asked for menu. Bartender just set back down and looked at his phone after I asked for food as I sit at bar guy never asked if I wanted a drink.They said cook was out side in his car. Not impressed with this place at all no wonder there no one there place was dead

I have driven past the Silverton Cafe for a couple of decades and finally decided to stop in for lunch. It is a huge restaurant, your typical neighborhood hole in the wall. We arrived at noon and were the first of four tables to order lunch. Our server was Maria and she was very friendly and offered suggestions. The lunch special was a double cheeseburger with fries for only seven bucks. My husband had the bacon TON burger, a nice sized hand formed patty. I had the ham and roast beef double-decker and brought half of it home. It was huge and delicious. They were out of wings, but we will be back another time to try them. I bet this place would be fun on a weekend night...darts, billiards and lots of tv's.

This place was recommended by a friend who eats here all the time. I had a bowl of chili and a HUGE double decker (ham and beef) with an egg--it was so big I couldn't even fit it into my mouth, and had to bring half of it home. Also had a terrific glass of Rhinegeist Zango which I really liked. Our server was new but got everything right and was informative about the food and drink menu. This place was almost empty on a Wednesday at 1:30. Reasonable prices and good food. We intend to return.

I have heard people talk about this spot forever and was finally able to check it out. With family in town, we were looking for a chill spot to grab some food and drinks. The bartenders were super accommodating to our party and made sure our drinks stayed full. I was impressed by the variety of craft beers offered on draft. The food was also quite tasty! I went for a Philly cheesesteak, but it didn't have as much meat as I was hoping for. Next time I will definitely get a double decker sandwich or sub. Definitely recommend for a casual evening out with friends or family!

I've dined there with a group of friends for 3 years there and and during the first year we had agreat waitress who remembered our names, what we liked, etc. But the last 2 years have been a bummer, it's like new waitresses every other month and somewhat bad service. Recently my order was messed up for the 3rd month in a row. I ordered a sandwich without an item and fries on the side to replace / supplement chips. Well it came with item I didn't want, a sauce and no fries. I didn't get charged for the fries but I ordered them. I'm not going to point their mistake, but just move on. We had to ask for silverware and then go to the bar get some more as they must have a shortage of clean utensils. We'll go find another place that has better service. It's too bad they either can't read the waitress's writing or can't ask the waitress to go verify an order. The checks are computer printed, maybe they need computer printed orders so things don't keep getting messed up.

Not good after Covid19. What is the Bartender really trying to charge me $24 for a green tea cocktail. I said can you make me a green tea cocktail instead of a shot. She said yeah I have to charge you six dollars 4 times. WTH! CRAZY! She doesn't even know how to make mixed drinks. This place has gone down. So Sad! There is actually a little girl in this bar dancing and hopping all over the place just Nuts!

The food is always great and hot. Though it was a few times when I had to either send the food back because it was overly cooked or burnt. But they fixed it and took if off the bill. The drinks are very strong. Been here a few times when they've had live bands and the atmosphere was very fun and exciting. The pretzel bites are good, though I would suggest doing something different with the cheese. Seems like they take Velveeta or something and put it in a bowl and microwave it so it melts. But other than that, anything you order is good to eat.

This is a little gem located in Silverton Ohio. It's a wonderful neighborhood bar that has darts games and great food. The burgers are great and beautifully cooked. I had the potato skins which hit the spot. Some nights they have live music. The staff is friendly. The bartenders makes a salty delicious dirty vodka martini. The owner Jeff is usually there to greet his customers.

Neighborhood bar and grill. Food is excellent whether you want pizza, burgers, quesadillas, apps, etc. and a great place to hang out too. Family friendly. Dart boards. Stopped here multiple times during covid pandemic and had excellent service. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want a welcoming place with good food and drink.

This one of the worst experiences I've had with dining and drinking . Walked in planning on eating , we ordered drink bald waiter rolls his eyes like it was a hassle. Made us feel uncomfortable ,smiled and laughed at bar being extremely unpleasant. Needless to say we didn't order food . Payed bill and left . WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Busy night but service was good despite only 1 waitress. Food was good, Fun band and great crowd. Dance floor is a bit small but overall great place to check out.

Great burgers, invented the massive double decker sandwich, tasty wings, cold beer. Bartenders were hustling and getting drinks out quick. Lots of live music. Super popular karaoke night. Everything that makes a neighborhood bar fun.

The cool parts: old school cigarette machines, pool table, dart board, old school arcade games. Food came out quick and it was a great price. The not so cool part: it was one of those places you know you don't belong in as soon as you walk in. Luckily I was with a coworker and fellow Yelper. Had a weird vibe for such a short period inside. Ceiling tiles are DISGUSTING! They are brown from grease and cigarettes I guess. I felt like you could smell them. They really should address this. They make the place look dark and dank but not in a cool way. The burger hit the spot but it was not anything to write mom about. Honestly, this seems like a place I wouldn't visit too often if ever. I'm all for local spots for locals and experiencing the culture of a place but all I could think of while I was there were the disgusting ceiling tiles. I wish I had taken a picture but I just wanted to get out of there. Needless to say, I took my food to go. Not so humbly submitted, King Michael C.

They do a solid lunch business with a good menu and quick service. The burgers are big and juicy and the double deckers are really good. Plus they are a full service bar. It all adds up to a positive experience if you want to try!

Best place to get an absolutely delicious blt with crispy bacon an egg and lots of mayo. Great chili and Stromboli too.

Two thumbs down. Sandwich had big hair on the plate. Taco salad was so watery it dtipped of fork with the few bites I was able to force down. Yuck

I passed this place all the time. I Live around the corner from it. I stopped in there last night and got the burger and fries special. Let me just tell you...... TERRIBLE. THE BURGER WAS disgusting. The cheapest meat used ever. Fries were soggy like they didn't fry them long enough. If want go somewhere to chill and have a drink cool but eat before you go. Don't waste ur money on the food.

Not bad, not great. Stopped in for dinner on Saturday night with my mother. We ordered fried pickles for an appetizer, they ended up coming out with our dinner. A table came in well after us and ordered after us but got their food way before we did (they seemed to be regulars so I am guessing that is why they had such good service) My mom ordered a cheeseburger, the server came over after about 20 minutes or so to ask her what kind of cheese she wanted on her burger, she didn't like the two options he gave, so he offered to put some mozzarella from the pizzas on her burger, that was fine with my mom. Once her food came out if had shredded cheese on it but it wasn't even melted and kinda fel off her burger while she was eating it. Overall, wouldn't be back, there are lots of other options in the surrounding areas.

Good little hole in the wall establishment. I stopped by on a whim, without having ever seen the place. First (and only Silverton) experience. I had boneless wings with garlic butter that were yum. Other things enjoyed by my table included a kids meal, a burger and a rueben. Food was good. Not special, but not bland either. I disliked the old cigarette machine at the entrance. I'm not pro smoking. Or exposure. It wont prevent me from going again, but Id love if it were avoidable while entering. Good pool tables, a few games, and a dart board kept my child interested on a Saturday afternoon visit. It was quiet, the games were on, and the people were respectful. It was welcoming as a corner pub & eatery. I dont know what it looks like at night, but I can testify that Its family friendly and appropriate for weekend lunches. 3 adults and 1 child were able to eat for under $45, and that includes 2 bud lights & an appetizer. Budget friendly. Clean. Quiet. Would recommend to others.

Silverton has great lunch specials during the week! Their food is decent and the service isn't bad. The food comes out really quick which is great if you are in a time crunch. My favorite lunch specials are the double cheeseburger and fries on Monday's, the fried chicken with mashed potatoes on Thursday's and their fried fish with green beens and mac & cheese in Friday's. Good value and you won't go back to the office hungry!

Great food great staff minus the big fellow with the beard who went out of his way to be rude and disrespectful the manager is very respectful and did his best to correct the situation yet this particular staff member continued to try his best to run me off with disrespect by intentionally getting my order wrong and forcing me to keep the food with no refund telling me I have to wait until the manager comes in days later

A friend of mine is in town and he wanted to go to the Cafe for lunch. He used to hang out here often when he lived up the street from the place so I obliged and went along. I have to admit, I was pretty bummed with my meal. I tried the pita with chicken inside and when the plate was brought over I picked it up to curb my hunger. I went to take a bite and the whole sandwich fell apart. The waitress saw it and admitted that the pitas used weren't the best choice and she apologized. I figured I'd eat it anyways, and dug my fork into the mixture of chicken & onions and put a dab of low fat ranch dressing on for a topper. I ate a few bites, and was still disappointed because it wasn't that great in taste either. It was pretty bland, and left much to be desired. However, the waitress was awesome and she noticed that I was picking at my food. She offered to get me something else, but I declined. She was still super awesome and took half of it off the bill. I thanked her several times. I was going to give the place two stars, but because of her great service and the fact that they sell Vault, I upped it another star. The atmosphere was nice and laid back, but I think if I ever go back it'll be during the evening for a drink and some dancing.

Received gift certificates for this place for Christmas so we took the oppurtunity to use them 7 months later, lol. I guess from the web site, this is about what I was expecting. It's a BAR, for sure. Appears to have lots of local bar traffic.("regulars") The wait staff was very slow but then again, there did not seem to be many people working. The food was great. I got a reuben and my hubby got a burger. VERY GOOD. Not a place that I'll insist we drive from Milford to Silverton to visit but hey, now that I've been here, I know if i'm in the area, I can get some tasty grub.

This was indeed The Marathon Inn. The whole building was a restaurant, dance hall etc. At some point half of it was split off to be an Asian restaurant which was really good. The Asian side is now closed. The Greek side was sold to The Silverton Cafe, which was a smaller place further south on Montgomery Rd. Not much remodeling has been done since, the original wall sconces an arched mirrors are as they were in the early 90's when the Campanella family owned it. Most items are still on the menu from the Greek days including the chili. My fave is the 27, Ham and Pineapple Cream Cheese! Don't knock it til you try it.

Granted it was a Monday evening. Waiter told us weekends are very busy. The fried pickles were just ok - I've had better at Bucketheads on the West side My friend ordered a margarita on the rocks - the mix and tequila must have been cheap - horrible taste. I wanted to send it back but she ordered a beer instead. Blue Moon was served without the orange slice - this is like serving Corona without a lime! The overall condition of the place is run down. I think it would be a fun location for watching football or basketball with friends, having a few cold beers but won't go there again for a meal.

I've been going here since I was a kid. Their food is really good. It's a huge area and the darts are fun to play too. The steak hoagies are my favorite. Tuesday's special is a double cheese burger & fries & those are pretty good as well!

Yuck. Dirty place. I don't think the cooks wash their hands. also the fries were a little soggy. i don't think they clean very well.

I love this place! Casual, friendly with THE BEST double-decker sandwiches you'll find anywhere - and really inexpensive. The Manhattan Club is my favorite - 3 pieces of toast stuffed full of turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato with just the right amount of mayo. So good - and so big my husband and I shared one and it was plenty. That and a plate of potato chips for $6.75. Can't beat it.

Ugly interior. Mediocre service. Plain bad food. I won't come back, and I'm still upset someone dragged me into this place.

Went in today at 1145am and was greeted immediately. Place was clean, plenty of tables, sit anywhere. Took our drink order and immediately came back and took our order. I got the Turkey Bacon Double Decker (Manhatten) in no time which had a lot of meat and bacon on it. Very good. My co- workers got the cod fish special and a chicken salad. They could not eat it all. Very attentive waitress, wish I could remember her name. Refills on drinks without asking. Had check ready. Lots of people there when we left. Some had meetings there. Don't judge it by its looks, a great rustic place with charm!

Visiting from out of town and stopped with family. Nice draft beer and steak hoagie with Pizza sauce. No frills. Good service. Stop by for a beer!

Go see Rich Sr on Thursday nights. Best one night a week bar tender out there. Nice dive bar, easy to escape from responsibilities and relax for a few hours

We all (20 + of us) came her unannounced at 2pm after a funeral today and the service and food was great! The owner had just gone home and he came back to help cook for us! So nice!! The prices were good and the service was fast, efficient, and friendly! I will definitely come back asap! We had a wonderful time. Thank you again!

This place stinks, literally. It smells like it hasn't been cleaned since Marathon Inn days. It's dark, dank, filthy and inexcusable. Booth and bar seats are torn to tatters. The entrance is squalid. The entire place is so grubby and grimy it's shocking. I wouldn't put a thing that comes out of that greasy smelly kitchen in your mouth. What's up with this place? Is there even an owner? My smelling impaired companion made a beeline for the door. Enough said.

We've lived near the Silverton Cafe for over 10 years and never go there, for good reason. When we first moved to the area, everyone recommended it to us so we decided to give it a shot. No one ever came over to serve us, greet us, or even acknowledge our presence. It was dark and musty and didn't seem to be worth the effort it was looking like to just order a sandwich or a drink. So we left. We figured it was probably an off day but with so many other dining options and bars in the area, we never felt a need to return. Fast forward to about a month ago and I was invited to grab some lunch there again, I reluctantly agreed but had been meaning to give them another shot. And wouldn't you know it? Same thing happened again. We walked in and it looked a little different but still dark and musty. We stood by the kitchen counter for a moment and the guy behind the counter asked if we were dining in and we said we were. He told us to have a seat and that someone would be right over. No one came. I tried going over to the bar for a little while but still no one helped us. After almost 30 minutes, we left again. I would say that maybe the third time is the charm, but given this places's track record, I don't think that'll be the case. Do yourself a favor and check out any of the better local spots in the area.

We picked this place for a last minute lunch as the Bengals were about to kick off. It's a cute little bar/cafe place with a good amount of tvs and surprisingly empty for a 1:00 on a Sunday during football season. Although it was pretty empty, the service was pretty slow. I went with my parents who all ordered different food and I 'panic ordered' when the waitress came to out table and ended up getting the "Silver Combo". This has a little bit of everything, pepperoni bites, mozzarella sticks, their homemade chips, and chicken tenders. When we finally got our food, my mom and dad liked their meals (chicken and burger) but I wasn't a fan of mine. It started off with only getting one mozzarella stick (I LOVE some sticks). Maybe I don't like the type of oil they use to deep fry things (is that a thing people complain about? I have no idea) but everything I tasted had an awful after taste to it. I ended up only eating the pizza bites. All in all, I would probably try this place again and order something not fried since my dad is a huge fan. Also, just found out on Saturday and Sundays they only have one server working so the service might be slow depending on how many people come in.

Food was mediocre. Only one waitress working and it took about 10 minutes to be greeted. Same waitress was in the back bad mouthing current customers in the bar/dining area. Really unprofessional. Won't be back for food, but karaoke is pretty legit.

Classic dive bar/cafe. Staff was friendly but service was extremely slow. 25 mins for a couple sandwiches. Burger was dry and lacking flavor. Kettle chips were soggy. Cheese sticks were frozen, store bought and hardly warm. Draft beer had an odd flavor (carbonation?). BBQ sauce was awesome! Great blend of smokey and sweet. I will give it another shot to make sure this isn't a one time issue. Men's rest room had no paper towels.

This is a great little bar to stop by and have a few. It is located in a nice cluster of local Silverton/Deer Park bars so it's always a good spot for a DP/Silverton Pub Crawl! Service is great and decor is nice! Nothing wrong with this place!

Self-seating and nobody came to check if we were ordering drinks or food. The music was great but too many people for only one pool table. 11 p.m. and karaoke we came for had not started and didn't look like it would be anytime soon. I left after a few minutes. The tables were dirty and there was way I would stay to eat anything there.

I have always loved this place and recently talked my two daughters into going one evening last week for dinner. I hate to admit it but I was kind of disappointed... This place always had a rough around the edges and dated atmosphere, but this time it was particularly drab. I mean some more light and a good scrubbing could go a long way with this place. Yellow ceiling tiles, dirty walls and a slightly grimy wooden floor could use a good sprucing up. I really have no problem with the rest of the place, and I certainly would be disappointed if they changed the decor or atmosphere that makes this place unique, but a little TLC is necessary. Ok on to the food... the double decker sandwiches here are awesome and the amount of meat (and mayo) on each sandwich is huge! I like that each sandwich is served with chips, but I also added onion rings to my order. The rings were large and nice and crispy. We also ordered fried pickles as an appetizer, and they were very good. They use pickle spears instead of the more common pickle chips, so that is unique. The only negative to the fried pickles was that they were served with ranch dressing, and I would have liked a more exciting sauce to dip them in. The kids each ordered a hamburger and cheeseburger off of the kids menu. Literally these were beef patties on a bun with NO condiments whatsoever, I found this odd and unappealing. They did bring ketchup and mustard bottles (but the bottles were kind of gross and could have used a cleaning), so I spread both over their burgers. I can't really complain too much about the burgers though because they inhaled them! Service as always was excellent. The wait staff were attentive and the food arrived at our table quickly. Overall it was a nice casual and inexpensive meal with my little girls and we enjoyed ourselves. I would have liked to give this a 4 star review for the food and service, but unfortunately the environment needing a sprucing up is what knocked it down to a 3 for me.

Look at the reviews of this place and you will see a pattern here. Nothing has changed. Visited the place for the first time last night and it will be my last time. Place is DATED. Still. Looks like the Owner/Manager does not deal in social media otherwise he would get the hint and clean the place up. Maybe he does and doesn't care. The entire staff needs to be fired and all of them need to find new careers. Our "waiter" was an old worn out 30 year old balding guy who clearly flunked out of some career somewhere else. When I asked if they had an IPA beer he said no and left our table. I guess I was allowed only one question and had met my quota. It almost appeared painful to this guy to be doing his job. He was never around. Place was under staffed. Imagine that. Their beer selection consists of 6-7 standards. Nothing else. With all the craft breweries in Cincinnati springing up and this of course being a local bar, yup, you guessed it, they don't carry any local beers. Not one craft beer. Pathetic. Don't try ordering from the bar. You'll never get served. The food was gross and I won't even go into detail on this. With all the bar and restaurant options out there to spend your hard earned dollars on, this would be the last place on your list to go to. End of story

one of my favorite places in town, laid back atmosphere. Great cheap sandwiches that are huge for the price. family friendly but my 20-something friends hang out here all the time. my go-to place for a quick sit-down lunch or dinner and beers.

Stick with the double-decker sandwiches or calzones. Great staff that makes a point of remembering and appreciating repeat customers. Nothing fancy, just a good neighborhood bar.

This use to be called "The Marathon Inn" I think most people in Cincy were confused. The mystery is that the guy who owned the place is Greek. He sold my parents the restaurant next door. And they operated that place for over 20 years until they retired a few years back. When I was a kid, my mom would bring home these HUGE double decker sandwiches from there. They were awesome. I think a single sandwich fed me and my two sisters. I also remember this half-deaf somewhat mentally challenged custodian there named Vince. Vince was a great character. He quietly did his work. And I'd visit him just to talk about sports. I don't think he really followed any local team. Come to think of it, neither did I. But I nodded politely. And I'm sure he appreciated it. I went back this winter. Not the same. It's a bit more refined. The menu got bigger. It's a Cincinnati landmark that doesn't get the same recognition as Skyline (which is a shame).

My husband and I go about twice a month to eat. The food is pretty good, especially the pizza. Bartenders are good and atmosphere is good too with the exception of too many children are running around on Friday and Saturday nights . This would be just fine if the bar would set a curfew for the children to leave by around ten o'clock. The kids will also take over the karoke and this is very annoying as well. Children don't have any business in a bar to begin with. Yes, they sell food but this place is a Bar that sells food and not just a restaraunt. Either way, go and check it out for the food, if you want a night out to spend time with just adults, forget about it.

Feels like family here. I grabbed lunch on a Sunday and it was clean, quiet, and people were super friendly. Food is good pub food - exactly what I wanted and expected. I've been here before and I'll be coming back with my friends.
