Dined outside with a large group of people (18) on a mid-afternoon in the autumn of 2021. Superb food and service. Israeli-inspired food. Enjoyed all the dishes that were on the special group menu. We paid $50 per person for the meal, taxes and tips included. I would expect the price to be higher in 2022 or beyond. The restaurant owner was very personable and spent time introducing the meal attendees to the dishes. The owner also had cookbooks available for purchase and he happily signed them for anyone who asked.

Simcha is one of the most exciting new restaurants in the Boston area. Every dish is even better than the last. My recommendation is to get one of everything (and maybe even two of each dessert 😉). Our entire experience was fantastic, with an attentive and friendly staff, a beautiful and clean dining room, a mesmerizing open kitchen with an awesome pita oven and most importantly delicious food. Our only complaint was that the table wasn't big enough to fit all of the incredible food! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a tasty and fun night out!

Google
omg... THIS is what you were waiting for. Very nice decor, super nice staff and the food is an eleven (11). We had the hummus, pita (baked fresh), carrots, beets, brussels sprouts, octopus, fried chicken and pork chops. Everything was superb. Top 10 Boston restaurant... in Sharon!!!

Google
11/17/23 update! We came to Simcha and this time we got the full in person experience. Though the menu items have changed it's still the same flavorful satisfying food! The restaurant staff were incredibly welcoming. We got a mix of small plates and a few entrees for the three of us to share. My absolute favorite was the okra with tomato jam and feta. We will definitely make this a regular spot to return! We got contactless takeout which I'm grateful for since many restaurants have given this up. We got a bunch of items to share with three adults and it was plenty. The burnt ends were our favorite. We loved the smokey flavor in the babaghanoush. Not sure if the eggplant absorbs it well but it was better smoked than most meats I've had. There really was not a dish we didn't like!

Google
Really awesome food. A staff that really cares. Nice to see some true culinary talent in Sharon! We will be back!

Google
Great little restaurant! The cauliflower dish was great. The pumpkin babganoush was an interesting take on the dish. The hummus was very good. Service was good for takeout.

Google
Stopped in here and got the Chefs tasting and it was worth every penny. Each dish that came out was unique and all tasted amazing. The pita makes every dish better. Liver & salmon, calamari, carrots, okra, and Lamb shank were some of our highlights.

Google
New spot for Israeli cuisine. The Brussels sprouts with feta & tahini were to die for as was the fresh hummus. Poutine & polenta fries were very tasty although a little too salty for me. The Octupus salad & the Chraime ( dogfish) were both great seafood choices.

Yelp
It breaks my heart to write such a bad review but they totally earned it. Had the yemenite fried chicken, roasted cauliflower and lamb shishlik. They were just miserable. The fried chicken was inedible. We'd hoped that this was some one off and that the owner wasn't cooking that day but that was not the case. Sorry, but we won't go there again.

Yelp
Ordered takeout for the first time. Moroccan carrots only tasted like salt, no tahini or honey. Roasted cauliflower was mushy. Pita with a small portion of whipped feta tasted like raw dough. Very overpriced for the quality

Yelp
This was our first time here and I am sad that I have missed years of eating here. Amazing !!! I love tapas. We shared 5 dishes plus dessert and brought leftovers home. Great service, waitstaff is super attentive. All the dishes were great. We had the white bean hummus, it was great. We had the shukshaka which was also good. We had the beets which were perfectly seasoned. The chicken wings were vanilla bourbon and were literally (I mean literally) the best wings I have ever had. The carrots were a scrumptious side dish and I don't have enough space to describe the Double Chocolate Skillet cookie with sorbet......... I will be back soon !!!. Try it out.

Yelp
Had a fantastic dinner at Simcha tonight. Five of us shared a few small plates and a couple of entrees and everything was delicious. We had Carrots, beets, Hummus, cauliflower, Salmon and Israeli wine and everything was outstanding. Service was great as well. We will definitely be going back regularly.

Yelp
Make no mistake about it, although the owner may not be a good restaurant manager or price his cuisine properly, he is a very innovative and talented chef. This is the 3rd review of a restaurant owned by the same person who owns Chubby Chickpea and A La Esh (see my reviews for both). We got the Yemeni fried chicken as an entree ($22) and pumpkin babaganouj, fried brussel sprouts, and Dukkah beets as apps. Food quality? except for the Yemeni fried chicken which was a little dry, it was excellent. I also thought the chicken was significantly overpriced for what you got. So did the wife. The appetizers were a little more appropriately priced. Except, the Dukkah beets. Take a look at my photo and judge for yourself. It looks like they ran low on beets, but still decided to serve them anyway - in a much smaller portion. Coincidentally, they did the same thing with another dish at A La Esh, another restaurant they own. It would not have affected my rating if they simply said to me the appetizer was unavailable, or that they were short on beets and therefore wouldn't recommend the Dukkah beets. I overlooked this mistake once at A La Esh, but if you do it a second time it looks like a pattern. Again, talented, innovative chef - not so talented restaurant manager. If they had said they ran out of Dukkah beets and priced the food a little more appropriately, you would see five stars on the top line instead of three.

Yelp
Not that good but it's the only have way decent restaurant in town. The meat was chewy and I had to continue to cook it myself. And the sides just look weird. Like most restaurants in Sharon, it's just off somehow. Hi Avi, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. I definitely agree with you about Wards. But I think Crescent Ridge is over rated and Sharon has never been able to develop a downtown or similar, there's no critical mass and no reason to visit like most other downtowns in the area such as Canton. Walpole, Norwood, and more. I think the new Sharon Crossing will add a few more options.

Lihos S.

Yelp
Got takeout from here - the fried Brussels sprouts were pretty good but nothing amazing. The okra was a small portion for the price and also possibly taking out was not a great idea for something like that which would likely taste better fresh at the restaurant. The chicken schnitzel was a real disappointment as the chicken was dry and tasteless. Will likely try again one day given the small number of options in these towns.

Yelp
I've tried the wood oven calamari, pork rib chop, fried feta, fried brussels, cheesy poofs, couscous arancini, and chickpea poutine, all from takeout orders. It's great to have a new restaurant with interesting food in the suburbs! And I like that they change their menu items often so there's always something new to try. So far, each dish I've tried is very flavorful and creative- except I didn't like the chickpea poutine. The chickpea "fries" were pretty soggy (could be because it was takeout?) and the braised beef sauce wasn't seasoned enough in my opinion. Otherwise, I have enjoyed everything. Hope to visit soon in-person to check out the dine-in experience.

Yelp
Ordered the large group platter last weekend, along with a few sides for good measure. The platter was arranged very nicely, with great presentation. All the food was really delicious and the flavors were vibrant. Loved the eggplant, carrots, and the fried chicken! Hummus was delicious and perfectly dip-able. When I went inside to pick up the order, the staff were extremely friendly, and they even included a complimentary bottle of red wine with the order. It's very refreshing to have a restaurant serving up something different in this neck of the woods!

Yelp
I'm going to get right to the point. Brussle sprouts with Bulgarian Feta Excellent Moroccan Carrots, ok but not a big portion for the $$ Yemenite chicken not crispy at all Flavor tasted more like franks hot sauce. They where out of the calamari. The waitress said they source local products, last time I checked RI didn't have a shorted of squid.. Its very loud in there for the size of the place music is blasting. Tables are very small, If more than 2 dishes come out at a time there will be an issue on space. Best bet eat at the bar

Yelp
For the Holidays, I received the gift of a cooking class with Avi - the chef/owner of Simcha. A class of 5 home cooks, we made a 30 minute meal (turkey tenderloin, blistered tomato, basil, & burrata salad, boiled potatoes w/butter, basil, garlic, mint). We enjoyed a glass of wine/beer and great discussion as we ate our meal. Truly a memorable afternoon. I learned some techniques, fresh ideas (mint on potatoes!), and laughed often. Being a little bit introverted, Avi was chill and made us all comfortable. Highly recommend the class (already recommended the restaurant)!

Yelp
What a delicious meal in an unsuspecting location. We had a lovely meal here on a recent Friday night. The service was exceptional, super friendly and attentive throughout the whole meal. We shared the pumpkin baba with fresh pita, zatar beets, Moroccan carrots, Brussels sprouts, couscous arancini and Yemenite fried chicken. Everything was delicious although it all felt like it could use a touch more salt. The Brussels sprouts were incredible, favorite part of the meal hands down. I have a big sweet tooth and was a little bummed to see such a small dessert menu. Regardless, we will be back!

Yelp
Wow. What a disappointment. We have heard great things about Simcha and we're looking forward to trying the Israeli food in Sharon (we love Israeli food!). While the service was fast and friendly, the food was simply disappointing. The wedge salads were fantastic. Other than that, the food was largely without inspiration. The signature hummus was under-spiced and over-blended; likewise the baba. The roasted cauliflower sounded divine, but it didn't hold a candle to Miznon's (or even my own) version. The chicken schwarma and Yemenite fried chicken were just "ok." Given past reviews, I'd say that perhaps it was an off night. However, given the fact that we drove 50 minutes in Friday evening traffic to get there, I am sad to say that we won't be heading back anytime soon.
google avatar

Brittany F.

Yelp
I paid 13 dollars for 3 pieces of cauliflower is this seriously the portion size or did they just give me someone else's leftovers ‍
google avatar

Alexis A.

Yelp
Small and intimate. Food was beyond amazing. Love the smaller menu - sometimes places that offer too many choices aren't great. You have your recipes down and it's perfect!

Jeremy N.

Yelp
Amazing food with a continuously changed menu. The service is great. It is a cozy environment, so make reservations!

Yelp
Fabulous cook and owner Avi is very particular on his menu. Recommend his tacos FANTASTIC.

Yelp
Ordered the beef brisket and fried chicken to go. Wasn't impressed . The brisket was very Smokey (like I just smoked a pack ) and was extremely chewy . Not wowed by the nearly $30 after tax and tips fried chicken either.

Yelp
The husband and I had an somewhat enjoyable meal here last night. The stand out in my option were the Brussels sprouts, which were delicious, although very crunchy inside and not creamy as the menu described. The flavor was on point, though ($14) The carrots were delicious, I could've done with more, though. I know it was a small plate, but my estimate was it was maybe one large carrot sliced, for $9. The green beans were crunchy, they claim to be cooked in a 900 degree oven, but I don't quite think they were in there long enough. They were too raw for my husband's taste. There was also a butternut squash dish that we tried. The flavoring was different, and to be honest, that was my least favorite dish of the evening. We tried the sausage and peppers- which were just awkward to eat and not very enjoyable. They were some cooked long peppers- not hot, but not sweet peppers. They were covered in crumbled sausage like meat with sausage seasonings. The peppers were whole and the meat didn't stick to the peppers and therefore it was just difficult to eat. Also, the peppers were loaded with seeds since they were cooked whole, which didn't make it very enjoyable. This dish was $14 (I believe) and not worth it at all. We ended up sharing the flat iron steak, which came cooked as requested and sliced on a plate, a la carte. The steak was very good, could've used a sauce or a side dish for $21. The service was good. Our table was tiny for a restaurant that serves small plates and likes when you order multiple of them. We had issues fitting our food on the table, having to combine dishes a few times to make it work. Our female server was nice and was open to feed back about our dishes. Overall, we did not leave disappointed, but not quite sure we will return.

Yelp
First time here and I love this place. It's family owned and run. The food is full of flavor and very fresh. It nice to finally get something original in the burbs that will easily rival my favorite spots in Boston

Yelp
Chef Avi did a beautiful job for us catering an outside Covid birthday event. He was very helpful and the food was delicious, everyone enjoyed it. The servers did a great job. Great private event!!

Yelp
Really enjoyed this place. Carrots were great. Meat balls were great and short Rib/couscous vary good, Deserts were excellent as my wife liked her mixed drink. Chis the waiter provided cart attentive service.

Yelp
So glad that such a creative and progressive restaurant has opened in town. Fresh and locally sourced ingredients, in-house butchering, exotic but well-balanced flavour, tapa-style small and shareable plates. It really has brought the suburb a refreshing city vibe. Food was in general delicious, especially recommending the lamb belly hash. Octopus felt a little dry and maybe some sauce could be used when grilling? Shakshuka was featured on their Sunday lunch menu, but the flavour wasn't as good as in other places I'd had it -- maybe more fresh herbs could be incorporated. The pita bread was a big surprise, hot from the oven and just tastes great. It went amazingly well with most dishes we had. Our waiter said they just opened three weeks ago, and it could still show in the simple, if not unfinished, decor and plain tablewares. But given their seemingly limited budget, they did a good job making the place clean, orderly and welcoming. The service was always attentive and timely even when they were in their busiest mode. In general, totally recommended and looking forward to seeing more original, unique, and environmentally conscious restaurants like this open in the suburb.

Yelp
Food was 5-star, drinks were 4.5-star, but service was uneven. In fairness, it's still in early days. My biggest beef was toward the end of the meal, with a 4-top absolutely overflowing with dirty dishes (tapas, shared plates, individual plates, etc.) the server brings dessert and wonders what to do with it. (Hint: clear dinner course before taking dessert order). So we experienced that uncomfortable feeling of having our dirty dishes piled up in front of us as dessert was presented to the table. This was a misstep that colored our entire visit, unfortunately. In the "aside from that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?" category, Simcha gets 5-stars-minus-one for: a very delicious and intentional menu and food strategy, a thoughtful beer list (no wine drinkers with us on this night), locally-sourced spirits on the drinks menu, and sound preparations. The atmosphere is great. Try this place! I assume their trainees and staff will master the movements that separate top-tier dining experiences from the rest.

Yelp
What a great spot in my little town .high end meal Israeli tapas that will warm your heart. I really loved the vegetarian mezze. It also reminds me of my favorite restaurant ever Zahav. I've been for both brunch and dinner the menu is delicious

Rob G.

Yelp
We love this place! Interesting food, great service, fun drinks. The chef has won awards and written cookbooks. Simcha is a South End restaurant in Sharon. Definitely go, you won't regret it!!

Yelp
Hooooooly shit!! This place is freakishly good.....went last night dinner with My wife, we decided to let the chef decide what to bring us and choose the "chefs tasting" so they brought out small plates of his choices, i tapped out after like 8 or 10 different plates. Seriously unreal, never had food like this before, really really really good.....crazy good. Cant recommend this place enough. Way to shine chef Avi Shemtov, great dinner!
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent place. A restaurant like this does seem out of place in this strip mall, but it doesn't matter, the food is so good. We had the hummus, cauliflower and carrots. All delicious, I especially liked the Moroccan carrots. For entrees, we had the lamb shank and fried chicken. We would definitely get both dishes again. Apologies for not knowing the exact names of the dishes. Reservations on a Friday was easy to make an hour before hand. But if we didn't make them, we might not have gotten seated. Very nice to see a high quality place like this in Sharon
google avatar

Yelp
This place is an absolute hidden gem. The food was full of great flavors and the service was courteous. It's not fancy but the food is. Boy can they cook meat! Both my wife's steak and my pork tenderloin were cooked to perfection. It's a very good menu with both vegan and gluten-free options. Highly recommended

Thomas H.

Yelp
Amazing tasting menu experience. First of all, safety was number one, all staff wore masks the entire time. Then, the food. Just incredible. Want to be treated like royalty? It's expensive but they make it all about you. The service is more attentive than at the Four Seasons in downtown Boston, and the food by Chef Avi is sublime. We requested a Buffalo focused meal and he went way above and beyond right down to the right sauce for the pizza and his middle eastern take on a 'garbage plate'. I could go on and on. If you want a special meal go here, it's worth the price!
google avatar

Mr F.

Yelp
I normally as a rule do not give out 5 stars unless the food is beyond amazing and I gotta say this food was beyond amazing the service was great my waitress George-anne did an amazing job great conversation about her and her wife really really nice but the food well worth it amazing

R S.

Yelp
The food is ridiculously tasty and delicious! Good selection of drinks, great staff and always dig the music. Lucky enough to not have to travel far but certainly would even if I lived an hour away as it's well worth a drive!

Bailey L.

Yelp
We just got curbside takeout, process was great and the food was even better! Would def order again!

David H.

Yelp
Any decent chef can make good food. But a great chef knows which foods compliment each other. Which foods bring out the best in each other. Which foods create a symphony (ok, perhaps a bit dramatic, but I stand by it). The wood fired Salmon with chili rice pudding and pickled green beans is the definition of this. Each part brings out the best in the whole. Salmon by itself is ok. But lets add a bit of heat from the chili rice pudding...now we are building something. A bit of panache and interest. But add pickled roasted green beans? Takes it to a whole new level. All three parts are greater than the whole and play off of each other. Hats off to you chef (or should I say maestro). You have made what can be a "healthy choice" with ingredients that can all go in a different direction depending upon what they are paired with into Beethoven's No. 9 'Choral' Symphony. Looking forward to my next visit.

Traveligious N.

Yelp
Good food, but quite a drive to reach here even from southshore. Cons: Limited menu, small sitting area, just warm pita (meh), not the best location Pros: Limited menu, nice service, Good food, less vegetarian options, lots of parking space
google avatar

Samantha Y.

Yelp
I have dined here a couple of times and it has all been delicious! Sharon desperately needed something like this.
google avatar

Simone T.

Yelp
The chef is so creative. We had the chef's special, but we requested vegetarian options only. It was delightful!!! We experienced a variety of delicious veggie dishes... the flavor was fresh and unique. Can't wait to go back!!! The chef makes everything right there and it felt like he was making food just for me -:)
google avatar

Allison K.

Yelp
Everything we ate here was amazing! I will definitely be recommending this to everyone I know in the area. Seriously elevated food!
google avatar

Yelp
Cozy, chic new spot in Sharon! Great for date night or girls night. Excellent wine list, nice beer selection and the menu can be adapted to various food allergies- huge plus for me! Food quality was outstanding, the small plate portion were modest and the main courses were huge! I will definitely be back and this time around sit at the bar!

Ariana Z.

Yelp
Excellent food. Unique menu that will not disappoint. Fried chicken is a must try. We tried many of the appetizers, which were all delicious. Don't skip dessert-- The Milky was to die for!!
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
Outstanding! I'm so excited to have such a great restaurant right down the street. The hummus, pita and Moroccan carrots were incredible. I had the cioppino which was well spiced and full of fresh seafood. My partner got the short ribs which were cooked perfectly. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back soon!
google avatar

Julian M.

Yelp
The best new restaurant in Sharon. It's great to have diverse cuisine that doesn't fit into a box. Fried chicken, pork loin and octopus have been my early favorites for meat. Brussels are delicious and they're purple. So unique. The staff has been welcoming and service better than expected for a brand new restaurant. I'll continue to go back and watch the flavors and menu evolve.
google avatar

Ali A.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Sharon. Great service - we had a reservation, but we walked in and were instantly acknowledged. Service was very quick, server was very friendly. We went off other reviews and got the Brussels sprouts - very good. We also had a handful of other plates that were delicious. Will definitely be back.
google avatar

Rachel L.

Yelp
Great meal at Simcha tonight! Fresh baked pita and hummus were delicious but the stars of the night were the half cauliflower head, radicchio in balsamic and calamari...Panna cotta was the perfect dessert...not too sweet. Highly recommend for inventive food to share amongst the table. A worth the drive destination.
google avatar

Rich D.

Yelp
What a great spot in the middle of Sharon. Forget going out into Boston or bigger towns for a great out of the ordinary meal and drink. Honestly this place has a hideout sort of vibe with great lighting and music. The food is well inspired and has great unique flavors and presentations. I can't wait to try it more now that they've added some bar specials during the week including very nicely priced apps and tacos made on fresh pita. Beer and wine are well stocked and rotate often.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
Little gem found in a strip mall in Sharon. Service was A+. Our waiter guided us in the right direction without overselling the menu. Between the salads, small plates and a main course four of us were able to taste a bunch of different things and were pleased with everything. This is a typical city restaurant buried in the suburbs and we can't wait to tell friends about it. We will be back soon!

G G.

Yelp
Thank you for responding to my review. It is much appreciated, especially since you took the time to discuss the matter with your staff and butcher. I still don't agree on the matter of the quality of the cut of meat I was served as the bone in ribeye is my favorite cut of beef, and the gristle was too much compared to other restaurants. To be fair, the majority of times have been at true steak houses, such as Gibson's, Mastro's, Morton 's, etc. so the comparisons may not be the same. Thank you for caring enough to personally respond, and I may give your restaurant another try down the road.
google avatar

Shari O.

Yelp
Fabulous food. We had the Yemenite Chicken which was crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside with wonderful flavorings! The hummus was exceptional and the fresh baked pita bread was the perfect accompaniment! Highly recommend!!!

Yelp
Come during the week for specials that will enable you to try all the variety of apps!! Everything is delicious and homemade. The pita is incredible --hot out of the oven! Make a reservation place is small.
