"Simjang in Worcester gets a visit from Bob Datz of the Telegram & Gazette this week. Sibling to Deadhorse Hill, Simjang serves Korean-American food, and the 'dishes are well-imagined, well-executed and well-presented,' Datz writes. He calls special attention to the tender pork belly bossam and a short rib entree that 'took the prize for presentation and melded so much flavor into the dish it was almost easy to forget the lean, medium-cooked boneless rib cuts.' For some smaller bites, there are braised peanuts, blistered shishito peppers, and a corndog that's 'maybe for the kids but probably not.' Also of note: the fried Korean chicken — smothered in a salt peppercorn rub or a 'shimmering' miso soy garlic — that Datz writes is 'super-crispy and tender inside.' Overall, he rates the restaurant four stars." - Dana Hatic

I beg them only offering burger and stop serving their "modern/alternated Korean/Japanese Food". As an experienced Asian in many kinds of Asian foods I can beary accept what I got, something is definately missing. For example, probably the worst Kimchi I have ever had in my life. I ordered their "cold sweet potato noodle", something never heard of, WAY TOO over priced and far from tasty. Salmon bibimbap, fresh and clean but again not tasty, and they should say they are severing it COLD. The environment is super clean and neat with huge windows, that the picutres of foods always look nice, but don't be fooled by that unless you are not there for food. Like one of the guy who work there recommoned several times: try our Kimchi Hotdog at the bar. Yea, that probably is the only thing they are good at?

Simjang has fantastic fried chicken wings! The two options of dipping sauces added a spicy kick to the wings and drum sticks. The Urban style wall graffiti gave a hip atmosphere to the restaurant. Bibimpo and ramen dishes were authentic Korean cuisine! If you’re an the mood for Korean foods this is a great place for fried chicken and beer. There’s a wide variety of mixed drinks and beer. There were a cold bar and 80’s video arcade upstairs that created cool hangout place. Can’t go wrong with pac man and street fighter with a cold beer and crispy fried chicken wings with pickled Dykon.!

Tried the Wooden Noodles pop-up today. Together with my food companion we tried the tonkotsu and tsukemen, and they were both very disappointing. The tonkotsu ramen is pork based, and the tsukemen is dipping ramen, something I've never tried before. Well, the tonkotsu ramen was definitely hot, but the bowl was only half-filled, something I've never seen before in any ramen bowl, and the broth tasted primarily like oil, making the noodles and mushrooms slimy and bland. The two pork strips were the only good part of this dish. The flavor of the tsukemen was amazing in comparison, but the broth was served lukewarm, like a gyoza dipping sauce, so I left most of it untouched, and the noodles were served cold as well, which made it more like a salad than ramen. Hard to say whether this was a fault of Wooden Noodles or Simjang, as this was my first impression of both. After this experience, I don't know if I will give either another chance, especially as this was my most expensive ramen outing ever.

Simjang (or "heart") is a tasty, modern Korean experience that will not leave you hungry. Like Korea itself, Simjang mixes the old with the new, makes use of it's tight space by building up, and stays true to its roots with a simple, straightforward menu of high impact choices. The KFC (Korean fried chicken) offers a few choices of sauce, and passed the sticky fingers test. You'll make use of your wet wipes because if you're trying to fork it, after your first bite your taste buds will compel you to dive in and get down to business. Ramyun (their spelling) and rice bowls fill the entrée slot. Choose either, and you'll be delighted with a full bowl of meat, egg, noodles/rice, vegetables, and goodness. There are some nice interior touches. Bright colors, exposed rafters, and old stained glass windows from the Worcester Buick Co. The second floor has a few arcade games on free play, and there are a few pop culture momentos scattered throughout. As seems to be a trend, pronunciation of the restaurant name is up for table discussion, but if you want to say it correctly it's "shim-jang".

Loved this place. Steve is a great bartender. Food was excellent. Chef is also an old school Oakland Raiders fan like myself so bonus points. Can't wait to get back to visit.

Really amazing food and drinks. It gets busy on the weekends. The dishes are meant to be shared so keep that in mind when going with a group. The price is a little bit more than other places on the strip but worth it.

Yum. Great food, drinks and very accommodating even for the pickiest of eaters. Young and old appreciate the free arcade games upstairs. Try a speciality cocktail ( hones the Pac-Man skills).
