Stephen Colbert’s Cookbook Will Make You Crave the Flavors of the Lowcountry | Eater Carolinas

"My family grew up with Simmons Seafood at the foot of the bridge; that location has now closed, but the one on Isle of Palms is still open and we go there all the time. When I was little we would pop in at 5 p.m. to pick up something fresh for dinner, which made having direct access to fresh local seafood feel like a real privilege." - Erin Perkins

Fresh affordable seafood. The shrimp are actually caught locally. The Key Lime Pie is homemade and off the chain. Not your typical pie from grocery stores.

Read the local reviews, and this place seemed like a good place to get shrimp. I went in and got a 3 lb bag of shrimp and key lime pie. The shrimp were good, but the key lime pie I wasn't so impressed with. If I had to complain about anything, I was supposed to get the jumbo shrimp, and I got the normal ones, but that's my fault for not checking. I will definitely stop back in when I'm down there again next year and try it

I was in town for a group trip and was tasked with cooking for 11. Simmons Seafood made that an easy task! They gave us a great recommendation of the fish for our ceviche (turned out great) and the frozen crab cakes were so good. The key lime pie and pimento cheese dip were also crowd pleasers. I will absolutely be back if I’m in the area again.

I just heard about Simmons Seafood about a month ago from a friend and man this place is AWESOME! Simmons has an amazing selection of seafood and everything is super fresh! I bought a bushel of Virginia select oysters and they were some of the best oysters I've ever eaten. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! Hats off to Will and Kate for being such professionals. Simmons is the only place I will buy seafood from now on!

Don’t waste your money… this place is an absolute joke when it comes to oysters. I’ve never been so disappointed when buying a bushel. Should’ve check the bag before leaving. They got our money this time but I’ll make sure to NEVER come back

OMG!!!! I grew up in the Florida Keyes and now live in Knoxville. I constantly search for shrimp that tastes as I remember. Simmons Seafood shrimp tastes just right. This can only happen if they are getting their shrimp directly from the boat. Also, the shrimp dip tastes as if were prepared an hour ago. A very pleasant surprise!!!! I loved my eating experience! Go here!

Shrimp actually is local and straight off the boat. Glad I brought my cooler to take some home to freeze.
