I met with friends here as a middle point between downtown and the suburbs. Got there for an earlier dinner and didn’t expect it to be so crowded! Got seated right away and needed time to look over the large menu. Decided on the veggie omelette (which doesn’t come with cheese). My friends were recommended the garlic chicken and the pita chicken and both looked so good! Our server was very busy but very kind. Fair prices for the portions! And a nice bakery section for dessert too. Plenty of parking too.

Really loved eating here! Their French toast is amazing. The food came out super fast and all the staff are warm and welcoming. I stayed close by so ate here a couple times. I chose to eat here because there were a lot of cars in the parking lot so I thought it had to be good! Food came out promptly even with the amount of people here. They also serve a variety of cakes and such at the front. Delicious. Highly recommend and their prices were extremely fair.

First visit here and we will definitely be coming back! Always drive by and see how busy the parking lot is, so finally made the time to stop in. Food was delicious, big portions, and came out very quickly (not pictured is my sourdough toast). We even got two little cups of ice cream that were free! Love the all day breakfast option, but will have to try the lunch/dinner options next time :)

We have been here many times. Food is always consistently good and you get plenty of it! Everyone knows that and that's why it's always busy! No matter the time, the food is fresh, served hot, delicious! They have the BEST cream of chicken rice soup! They always end your meal with a cup of soft serve ice cream! Service is always good and friendly.

Google
Had a great experience at Simon's today! Started with a bowl of baked French onion soup which is always one of my go-to's. Our server informed me that they tweaked the recipe and that it's even better than before. She was right! It was great! I also ordered the Greek Pork Kebab with Greek potatoes, veggies, pita and tsatziki which was on special today. Everything was seasoned excellent and cooked perfectly 👌 Ended the meal with some complimentary vanilla soft serve ice cream. I don't know what they put in their ice cream but it's better than any other vanilla soft serve! Thanks for a great meal Simon's. I'll be back!

We visited Simon's in the middle of a Saturday afternoon and thankfully there was no wait for a table. The restaurant itself is very clean and very nicely lit inside. It does not feel like a dingy little diner at all. Our waitress came a moment after we sat down and took our drink order which came out another moment after. The menu has everything you expect a family restaurant to have without being too long. I got a breakfast skillet and my fiancee ordered a Cubano sandwich. Both meals were a lot larger than we were expecting them to be, it was a ton of food for the price. We ended up taking about half of each of our orders home. Our waitress was very quick and very polite. We don't live near Simon's Restaurant but the next time we need a place to eat in the area we are definitely coming back!

Good, no frills, Americana food. Great breakfast fare, but I also like their sandwiches. Gyro was okay but the chicken salad on wheat was very good.

Google
Home run. We were looking for a family restaurant outside of the city after a trip to a museum in Chicago. This exceeded my expectations. We had a friendly, experienced server. Although it was dinner time, I had a nice cappuccino. I had the chicken kebab dinner, my mom had another chicken pita dinner, my kid had the pot roast special and my grandson of course had a cheeseburger. The food was delicious. Unexpectedly we each received a little cup of a wonderful vanilla ice cream. I would go back just for the ice cream, but they also have other great looking desserts. Plenty of room and plenty of free parking. They have an outside patio. I didn’t notice any special vegetarian options. Oh, and my mom loved the chicken rice soup!

Yelp
Currently on a family trip taking my folks up to see their grandkids play baseball in Lombard. Coming back to the hotel we spotted the restaurant and thought it'd be a great spot to eat. This morning we were promptly sat and greatly warmly by our server Juan. The experience was exceptional. Service was great and the food was spectacular! I really enjoyed the Gravy Biscuit Benedict. All the food was delicious and hot. I tried my mom's French toast. It was excellent. My dad enjoyed a Sausage and Cheese omelette. I'd highly recommend eating there if you're in the Villa Park or Lombard area! The restaurant was clean and safe. The atmosphere was great and friendly for everyone including families. Thank you! Yelp
My sister and I met a coworker for breakfast at Simon's a few days ago because I figured there'd be something on the menu for us all. Plus, old-school diners are usually a safe bet. We walked in and were greeted immediately by a pleasant gentleman who also seated us. My coworker and I both ordered cream of chicken rice soup, which we enjoyed. It was a little watery, but otherwise tasty. I also ordered a grilled cheese and ham sandwich. I assumed the ham would be bone-in, but it wasn't. It was something in between bone-in ham and deli ham. The ham was greasy and not very good. I removed it from the sandwich and tried to eat the grilled cheese, but I couldn't because the bread was too soggy. I took a few bites and pushed the food aside. The waitress assumed that I wasn't hungry and brought me a to-go container. LOL I took the food with me but didn't eat it. It went in the trash out by the garage before I even went into the house. My sister ordered toast and corned beef hash. She enjoyed it and said she would order it again. The restaurant was bright, clean, and comfortable. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive. I didn't care for the ham on my sandwich but would visit Simon's again despite that.

Yelp
This place is a family favorite! The service is and always has been top notch! Food is outstanding too - and a ton of food for a great price! Absolutely love this place!

Yelp
I have found a great spot for Sunday brunch in the Villa Park / Oak Brook / Lombard area with the family! A crowded place with good food and fast service is always a winner. The staff is always nice too. Omelets and pancakes are a perfect combo, and the soft serve ice cream at the end is such a fun touch! I've tried all of the omelets and they are all great! I look forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Overall great experience, and the waitress was super nice. Our group got seated right away and offer menus. Lots of items to choose from and the coffee was nice and hot. Lots of full tables and establishment was clean. I had the BLT sandwich with fries and a chicken noodle soup. The bread was nice and toasted, bacon was crisp, lettuce was perfect, and the tomato was just right. The chicken noodle soup was hot, and they give you saltine crackers to go with it. The BLT came with some french fries , and there was ketchup brought over. Will definitely come back to try their menu.

Yelp
Went here for lunch one day with son. We had the cold trio salad special (tuna, pasta and egg salad), a wrap sandwich and crepes. Service was really good. We loved our waitress. We were also seated right away and the restaurant had a noise level that allowed good conservation. The chicken rice soup was fantastic. However, the rest of the meal was good, but nothing special and not inexpensive. I didn't care for the pasta salad on my plate, it had a bit too much peppery flavor. The egg salad was ok, but nothing special and I thought the tuna was a bit overly mayo flavored. The wrap was good, but again nothing special. Fries were thin and crispy, really good. The crepes had no filling in them at all, all of the flavor was on top of the crepes, which was disappointing. It's probably about a 3.5 but since I can't do half stars, I feel more towards a 3 than a solid 4.

Yelp
Stopped back in to try this place again place was only 25% full. And it was like there was a rush of some sort to place order. should've checked my order before I left having that feeling got home and realized the order was not complete. No pancakes. For the price of breakfast it really hurts when you don't get all your food. I personally probably won't stop in a third time.

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Service is great. Food I had was not. Turkey dinner was barely edible. Vegetables were soggy and looked like every vegetable leftover from the entire week thrown in a pot and boiled for hours. Turkey was tasteless. Potatoes were ok. Turkey club sandwich was huge but not very good. Turkey lunch meat and mediocre fries.

Yelp
Arrived the day after thanksgiving for brunch to this family owned establishment that was a recommendation. A very busy place, which is a good sign! Seated quickly with very friendly attentive staff who continually checked on us. Biscuits and gravy were flavorful and savory. Good choice! Mexican skillet was also an amazing choice. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Go hungry, servings are a good size.

Yelp
My dinner was delicious. Of course I'm taking home the homemade rice pudding. And I appreciate that Simon Sr has retired and his son Simon and son-in-law Gus now have kept up the tradition. Family owned businesses are honestly the best.

Yelp
Been wanting to give them a try. We had a taste for liver and onions and they came through with a wonderful dinner. Smashed potatoes were delicious too. I started with baked French onion soup but kinda wish I had gone with the Tuesday soup, split pea. Wish they would have toasted the cheese a little longer. Bowl is too big for the cheese to go edge to edge. Friendly staff and good food will make me want to come back for breakfast. The cheesecake looks great and will definitely get some next time.

Yelp
If you're in The Villa Park area and just looking for American food. I would recommend this place... .. This place has been around for many years and Greek owned ..... For the most part, these types of establishments have been spoiling customers for the years with customized meals And a variety of different entrees... But if you plan on eating there, make sure you take home a rice pudding!..

Yelp
I was excited to eat at simon's I hear nothing but good things I finally got to go and I was disappointed with the outcome it wasn't everything I'd thought it be. I was recommended the Philly steak and it was really dry and the fries had little to no seasoning I appreciate the waiter I had my iced tea stayed filled the whole experience. I do love the ambiance I miss the old diner vibe I wished more restaurants brought that homie look back

Yelp
We hadn't been back here since the pandemic and decided to give it a try. We went for dinner and had Gyros Platter (good), Roast Tom Turkey (good) and Ham & Swiss Croissant (sub-standard). Ham & Swiss , you really needed to look to see if there was any cheese at all; I didn't know you could slice it so thin! The prices are all averaging around $15 for simple items like sandwiches. Simon's used to bring a small loaf of fresh bread - Gone - now you get one roll per person (no variety). They do still give you a small cup of ice cream at the end, that's a Plus. Service was fine. Overall, nothing very positive and I can think of a number of places I would prefer instead. We won't be back.

Yelp
Great breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. My favorite is the tuna melt. The saganaki is very good as well. The salads are another favorite. Excellent chicken and wild rice soup as well. A small cup of ice cream is given for free after a delicious meal. I'll be back for more enjoyable well prepared items.

Yelp
I got the Hobo skillet which is a skillet full of hashbrowns, topped with blended melted cheese, onions and 2 eggs (any style) with toast, butter and jelly on the side. And honestly for $10.50 this hit the spot! Our waitress was really nice, didn't have much of a wait time and the food was good! It's definitely diner vibes but a local restaurant so I'd definitely recommend checking them out!

Yelp
Not sure what has happened to this restaurant but it has gone down the tubes. Iv come here on and off when I was in the area as the food and service was always good . Went there today with my brother who was in town from AZ and I'm embarrassed that I brought him here. Service was mediocre at best and the food just crappy , to top it off there was a cockroach on the booth across from us . When you have roaches crawling on tables you have an infestation. We won't be back .

Mo K.

Yelp
I got the eggs and chicken sausage with pancakes and it was absolutely delicious. 10/10. Definitely would come back again.
google avatar

Morris N.

Yelp
The food has gone downhill over the years. The Philly steak sandwich was almost inedible. They boil their meat and veggies for the sandwich. The service was ok.
google avatar

Maryam G.

Yelp
Great breakfast. Not sure why so many negative reviews, probably unrealistic expectations. If you want Michelin food go to a Michelin restaurant. When I'm in town and want classic diner food, Simon's always hits. Brought my relatives and they all loved it. Plus great portions for the price! And really clean too
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered the liver and onions dinner. The liver was good. The potatoes were considerably undercooked, unable to cut a half inch slice of potato with the side of my fork. The mixed vegetables were off-color and complete mush (boiled, canned?) I ate 1/2 of the liver while waiting for the server to come check in or ask why the potatoes had been pushed to the side (outer edge of the table.) The wait person passed by the table at least twice without stopping. I would have been happy if she had stopped by and offered to replace the potatoes. When I went to pay for my food the man at the register argued that the potatoes were properly cooked. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
We went to Simon's on Saturday at 8:30pm for dinner after being at the hospital with our mom. The hostess did not tell us that they were out of cream of chicken soup for the night. Our server was absolutely terrible, never coming to our table and making it seem like serving us was an inconvenience. Last, he told us we could get French onion soup instead, and then upcharged us for it. Altogether, our food was not good, the service was awful, and our bill was very high for what we got. I won't be back anytime soon.

Yelp
My typical experience here is when i wake up late and missed the typical restaurants hours, out here in the burbs. Today I tried dinner. First I' ll tell you about establishment. The servers here are very pleasant and the reataurant is comfortable and clean. They are fllanked by a couple motels on the corner of Summit and Roosevelt rd. Plenty of parking and sometimes the front section of parking can be full. My breakfast experience - Servers keep the coffee cup filled and the coffee is fresh. The coffee doesnt seem to be premium bean, but its ok. I ordered eggs, bacon, hash browns. I didnt care for the bacon much because it tasted like cheap bacon. The hash browns were plentiful but not very browned and had no real taste. Dinner- I ordered the turkey dinner. The plate came with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and the stuffing and turkey was ok. The gravy was a yellow.. almost neon. It didn't taste bad but it was an unusual color. No bread was served. The mixed vegetable tasted terrible. My impression was that it was canned or from frozen bag....imo, it had an unpleasant taste tha5 black pepper and salt didnt help.. Also, I'd like to mention that the fountain sprite had an odd, old taste.. the lines probably need cleaning. Minor Drama- if you order a dinner that includes soup or salad, you should know that the french onion soup is approx 2.50. extra. My server did not tell me. She recited the soups of the day that came with my dinner, and included the french onion soup. At other restaurants I've gotten french onion soup with my dinners and I get a cup size and thats included. It ocurred to me that i should double chk when she comes with soup. Thats whn i found out it was extra and she came with a full bowl sizel serving, not cup. I told her i hadnt expected it to be extra and she had not told me it would be. My server then told me the upcharge for french onion soup with dinner was on the menu. Tricky. I then told her i didnt want it then. She said she would tell the manager to take it off. She told me to go ahead and keep it anyway since they would throw it out. After she walked away i tasted the soup and foud that it tasted different from the French onion soups i had ever had before. It tasted of oregano. I didnt care for it and pushed it aside. The restaurant manager appeared and she told me the up charge on the onion soup was on the menu. I told her that the waitress recited the soups i could have with my dinner snd never mentioned upcharge.. i did not notice that on the menu because honestly all I looked at was the dinner price. The manager went on to tell me, 2 more times the upcharge was on the menu I told her i didnt want to spend more. She finally did take upcharge off this one time and told me 2xs that i should remember the next time, onion soup is extra. Honestly, I wont return there for any more dinners and my breakfast visits have always been limited anyway. I gave it a shot but this place isn't for me.

Yelp
Food was great. Between my husband and I, we had a Reuben, buffalo chicken wrap, onion rings, cream of chicken soup, and French onion soup. I also had a mimosa. My picky 4 year old had a bowl of fruit, two boiled eggs, and the fries from one of our sandwich plates. She also had an apple juice Although everything was good. I think it was all a bit overpriced.
google avatar

Pamela B.

Yelp
The best service possible when you go in there, you are treated like royalty. Your food is always good and piping hot and they have the best cream of chicken and rice soup in town and out of town.

Scott F.

Yelp
Just gonna update you about Simon's restaurant yes they do have a sometimes tricky soup policy but you know what that's part of the fun and the food actually is usually pretty tasty and the variety is quite wide. You might wanna try the hand breaded codfish on Fridays yummy. The prices are not too bad.
google avatar

Tina G.

Yelp
Busy even on a Monday. Service was good, although busy and looked hard on the staff. Mimosa perfectly pored. Not normally a fan of this soup, but everyone at the table liked it. Sandwich was great, had plenty of leftovers. Great daily specials.

Andrena L.

Yelp
I only order pancakes and hash browns. the pancakes were dry and cold and the hash browns were burnt and cold. the waitress did replace my hash browns at my request. she retuned with a fresh play that looked good, but did not taste good. I had not been to this restaurant in a while. I dont think I will return.

Hank S.

Yelp
Our group of 4 was looking for a place all of us wanted breakfast and lunch. Having gone past this place for years I said let's try this place. What a joke! First in we got seated, menus and order no problems there. The waitress was good. I did notice that the prices were higher than I expected from a diner type restaurant. None of us were going to leave without spending $20 per person for just an entree and drink. That seemed very high. And oddly no Senior Meals or discounts considering so many there. That's just taking advantage which I did not like. Another item that I noticed was a sign saying various reasons of what your meal costs go to. Not very classy. The food came and that's when the rating took a nosedive. One person ordered corned beef and eggs. What they got was stuff you get out of a can. And the hash browns were so crispy fried. She didn't ask for that or pay for food out of a can. Another person had these crepes with the fruit on the outside. Looks like they just cut up a banana and put on top of 3 crepes. The other two had stacked sandwiches which seemed to have a few pieces of lunch style meat but had more lettuce and few French fries. Both said the bread was very dry and questionable lunch meat. Now remember I said each person's meal with a soda or iced tea was $20pp. For stuff you can get in a can or lunch deli meat. Once is enough for us to never go back. And Management quit taking advantage of seniors and offer some special meals and/or discounts. Shame on them!
google avatar

Tabitha H.

Yelp
Very busy place. I was seated right away. The French onion soup was slightly watery and just had too much cheese on top. It was so think I almost choked. The tuna melt was good. It was filling. The fries were good as well.
google avatar

Layda C.

Yelp
Visited today after years of having eaten here regularly. Not a lot of changes in the restaurant. Everything looks the same fresh and clean. Coffee cup be a third smaller than they used to be, and the coffee appeared to be made by machine rather than brewed. Had to ask for a refill - 3.49?! More than Starbucks and tasted watery. The omelette was absolutely perfect - compliments to the chef or cook - it was wonderful. Pancakes were cold, the syrup packaged I don't remember that something they used to serve warm syrup Would I come here, again, yes - for the omelette Service was average - she did her job

Yelp
Great service, friendly staff, large breakfast portion sizes, and solid black coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is worth the visit just for the chicken cream rice soup!!! They somehow infused the creamy broth with a very concentrated, flavorful chicken flavor. So delicious and rich. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was also very tasty. I appreciate the unlimited refills of coffee. The restaurant has seating both indoors and outdoors. The patio area even has a cute little waterfall. Enjoyed my stay here, will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Came in for a piece of pie ($7!) and coffee ($3.59). The pie was okay, but nothing great and the coffee was tiny and not even a refill offered. Service was okay though i'd have really liked a refill!.
google avatar

Randa U.

Yelp
Huge restaurant with plenty of seating and parking. The service is always great and the food comes out hot. Even if it's a weekend, you're service is quick and the staff makes sure customer service is top priority, along with quality of food. The prices are very reasonable and the positions are large, so bring an empty belly. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can get a nice cup of soup, or some delicious eggs. The pumpkin pancakes were so good! It had enough spice and cream cheese topping to satisfy the basic autumn girl need I oh so desire. My companion ordered a custom skillet and was made as requested. Delicious, and a to go box was needed. I live this family diner. It's clean, it's friendly, the food is delicious, and pricing is affordable.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
There isn't a children's menu available? My grandchildren aren't about to get an adult size meal.

R W.

Yelp
Mediocre service and food Homemade? Would have to question that...chicken noodle soup out of a can. Pressed turkey. 2nd visit. Wont be back
google avatar

Wendy O.

Yelp
The best! I was in town for a Class reunion and staying at a local Motel. We ate dinner and two breakfasts there. Food was good with large portions. The service was spot on. It's a family run restaurant so it felt like you were eating with family. I would highly recommend this place, any time of the day, for any meal.
google avatar

Jaime L.

Yelp
I was just there yesterday at 10am and was really disappointed. While their staff is great the food has really taken a dive. My soup was cold and my sausages and potatoes were luke warm. The only thing that good was my eggs which I could have made at home. I feel bad but if I or any consumer paid $12.99 for a basic breakfast plate then I expected it to be done exceptionally. Definitely a disappointment as I frequently come there but 2024 I will be taking my business and family somewhere else
google avatar

Yelp
Solid restaurant with great soup. Good Wi-Fi. I had French onion soup and my boyfriend had an omelette. Also great coffee!!

Yelp
Simon's Restaurant had all the potential of being a great breakfast spot but it failed to deliver on the food. Having driven past many times and always seeing a packed parking lot I was eager to stop in for breakfast. Finally the day had come. We got there early, about 30mins after opening, on a Sunday morning and there was already a healthy amount of people. After securing a booth I took a peek at the menu and saw all the usual suspects. When our waitress, who was very friendly and engaging, came to greet us we were ready to place our order. Naturally, I went with the Eggs Benedict. It's my litmus teat for any breakfast establishment. The food came out FAST! I could hardly believe it! It had to have been under five minutes. However, I quickly discovered why... my poached eggs were just over the poached line, the Hollandaise was runny, and the hash browns were undercooked. Oddly the English muffins were burnt...? All added up to a very lack-luster meal for me. To top it off, I feel like the prices for menu items are about where they should be but the sides... they really gouge you: $5 for a side of bacon (3 pieces) and $5 for a TINY glass of OJ. Give me a break. Needless to say, I won't be paying top dollar (relatively speaking) for a sub-par experience again.
google avatar

Meilyn S.

Yelp
Best food in town! Service is friendly and just amazing! Ambience is welcoming!! We just love this place so much. We've been coming here for almost 3 years.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
The pancakes were fluffy, sausage links plump, toast were soft, & the white eggs avocado omelette was tasty! Also, the coffee was superb. My experience was great, even the waiter was very attentive. I will definitely go back!

Ginger P.

Yelp
We came to the restaurant with my Daughter and son n law for breakfast. The food was excellent. The owner Simon came to say hi and was very friendly. Our waitress was very good. Restroom very clean. Would definitely recommend and come back. I had the vegetable garden skillet which was yummy.
google avatar

Laura E.

Yelp
The food is pretty good, average portion size for the prices. Overall it's good for a quick bite to eat and the wait staff is friendly.

David Y.

Yelp
Clean & open with great freindly service. I had breakfast & was great. I like the earth tones as it was comfortable as if you were home instead of a diner, just nice decor overall and well maintained. I will go again for dinner for further review.
google avatar

Geneva B.

Yelp
Good food and good customer service. Reasonable prices. Not sure why this place has a 3-star average rating. Didn't read the other reviews prior to coming and I'm happy I didn't because I wouldn't have come after seeing a 3-star average. I had the corn beef hash skillet and my aunt had the garden skillet with broccoli instead of asparagus. Leticia was our waitress, they can her Leti for short. Very sweet lady.

Tarzan B.

Yelp
Just had some eats Food was disgusting horrible experience server was okay over all worst food I have eaten in a long time definitely was not worth 30$

Carl G.

Yelp
I have been going to Simon's for over 15 years and would have ALWAYS given 5 stars, HOWEVER, for the past 12 months, EVERYTIME we order carryout, there is ALWAYS something wrong, most times there is something missing, even though when placing the order they repeat it correctly and also say it correctly when picking it up, but that is from the order. There is NO quality control about the carry out orders. I feel like Joe Pesche in Lethal Weapon when they go through the drive through and he said he "Always gets F-ed in the *ss" when his order is wrong! IF you get a carry out order, even though they repeat it correctly, make them take EVERYTHING out of the bag. I am so f'ing sick and tired of missing dressing, extra gravy, no butter with bread (that they charge for) etc that I do not find out until I get home. I am going to start placing the order on my credit card and IF there is something wrong with the order, I am going deny the entire charge. We even tip 10% on carry out orders - but that will not happen again until Hell freezes over!! Maybe Simon will start caring when he is getting stiffed and know how it feels to be me!
