Super busy on weekends but so worth it. Great american breakfast. Love it here.

The food here is incredible — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was perfect. But what truly made our visit unforgettable was our waitress, Nancy. From the second we sat down, she greeted us with the kindest smile and made us feel right at home. She’s the kind of person who doesn’t just take your order — she takes the time to connect, recommend dishes you’ll actually love, and make sure every detail is just right. You can tell she takes real pride in her work and genuinely cares about every guest she serves. I also have to shout out the rest of the staff — everyone was friendly, professional, and worked together like a well-oiled machine. You could feel the positive, welcoming atmosphere from the entire team. The kitchen staff was on point, the food runners were quick and polite, and you can tell this is a place where the whole team cares about giving guests a great experience.

A soon as you walk in you are greeted by the lovely owners or staff. You can definitely find the best breakfast and lunch… everything is made fresh. If you are a breakfast lover definitely give the omelette a try, French toast or pancakes!! For lunch you can’t go wrong with chicken and dumplings… chicken pot pie and the delicious turkey and dressing!!

Melissa was great, the food was fantastic. Here are some updated menus. The Daily Specials can vary from day to day, and aren't necessarily reflected on the menu. The sides change from day to day. They seem to always have Chicken Fried Steak and a Fried Fish Daily. EXCEPT FOR SATURDAY, IT'S ONLY BREAKFAST FROM OPEN TO CLOSE.

This place is great! I had never seen or heard of it before. A friend recommended we go, she stated everything is fresh/delicious. I ordered breakfast and the pancakes were delicous. My meal came with bacon, sausage, eggs and grits all for 11.49. The also have a small lunch buffet. I would like to return another day for lunch to try their chicken and dumplings.

This diner is a true hidden gem that serves up some of the best Greek and Southern comfort food you’ll ever taste. The chicken fried steak is crispy on the outside, tender inside, and smothered in a rich, savory gravy that’s simply irresistible. Their grilled fish is perfectly seasoned and cooked to flaky perfection which I always have it with their made from scratch tartar sauce 😋 and the gumbo is packed with deep, bold flavor that warms you from the inside out. But the real surprise? The chicken and dumplings—hearty, homemade, and full of soul. It’s rare to find a place that nails both Greek specialties and classic comfort dishes, but this diner does it all flawlessly. The owners are always there to great you like family! A must-visit! 10/10

Google
Delicious food and great service! My parents and I were looking for good country breakfast restaurants near us since another country breakfast restaurant that we like called Snappy's Cafe and Grill is in Katy. When we found this place and tried it was really satisfying and delicious! We'll definitely come again soon.

Google
The Simos Crew was absolutely amazing! The perfectly balanced flavors, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. The fresh ingredients and unique flavors were unforgettable. The service was also outstanding, and the cozy atmosphere made for a truly enjoyable dining experience thanks to Nancy. The welcoming atmosphere from Stella and Steven are always the best highlight of my visit.

Yelp
ATTN: BREAKFAST LOVERS I wanted a home cooked breakfast and was tired of the usual breakfast eateries. I came here on an empty stomach and glad I did because the serving are pretty large. Our waitress was very sweet and provided exceptional service. The restaurant has a old school diner feel with seating right in front of the kitchen. You can choose between a booth or a table. The food was fresh to order and the bacon is like no other! Try the biscuits and gravy they are so fluffy and delicious. I had my eggs over easy, but you can cook your eggs to your preference. Try the tasty pancakes with strawberry jam and syrup you will not disappointed. I will be back to try their French toast!

Yelp
Excellent American Cafe for Breakfast & lunch. Tried their Greek salad & broiled fish. Found it to be a good choice. Great staff & service. Thanks.

Yelp
A very unassuming diner on heavily trafficked N Shepherd Drive. There was a time when there were numerous places like this located all along Shepherd Drive. To my knowledge Simos might be the last one of its kind. I decided to check it out after seeing they offered a Gyro sandwich basket. So I had already made my decision before I walked in. I walked into the diner with its high ceilings and dark wood trim. It had a welcoming atmosphere and people were lined up to order from the day's specials offered at the steam table. I had to walk over and take a look. Everything looked so tempting. The turkey and dressing just about snagged me. But I was craving a gyro. Gyros are hard to come by north of 610N. So I took a seat at the counter and placed my order. A few minutes later I had a platter of thick cut golden fries and a gyro sandwich stuffed to brim with succulent sliced green gyro meat topped off with diced tomatoes and onions and homemade tzatziki sauce all wrapped up tightly in red and white checkered paper. I went for a golden fry. It was better than good. Crispy outer skin and flavorful tender insides. Next I surveyed my gyro. I'm pretty sure that this was the largest gyro I've ever seen. I removed the paper and lifted this Greek taco to take a bite. I struggled with lining up the gyro to mouth and then to open up my mouth enough to take a good bite. A large bite was impossible and I had to settle for what seemed like a small bite. But the small bite filled my mouth and normally would have been a large bite from a regular gyro. The meat was juicy and savory. The oregano and other spices tasted like homemade. I could have made two servings with what I was served. I stopped at about 3/4's and stopped. I still had plenty of fries and decided I would take the rest home with me for a snack later. I would rate the gyro with fries good. Above average and very satisfying. I can't wait to go back and try out the specials on the steam table. Oh and also the breakfast offerings. Nice job Simos'!

Yelp
My husband and I love coming here for breakfast on Saturday's and we grab lunch to go every now and then. Today we had Gyro's and they were great! They are a family run business and they treat you like family when you go here. *******

Yelp
First time eating from here. Placed an order to go by phone and the lady that took our order was patient and helpful. When we picked up order it was fast and young lady that was busy but still managed to greet us and help us. Order 4 French toast combo it includes a meat of your choice and eggs, we chose sausage patties and 2 with over medium sunny side egg, one scrambled and one white scrambled eggs. Good portion sides and condiments. The ambiance looks friendly and family oriented. We plan to go back and eat there with the family in the future.

Yelp
DO NOT EAT HERE -- unless you are REALLY hungry and want a delicious breakfast. DO NOT EAT HERE -- unless you enjoy being served by efficient and friendly staff. DO NOT EAT HERE -- unless you're ready to walk away (well, maybe waddle out) full and content. I HAVE WARNED YOU!!! (Now for the fine print: my first time here but, God willing, certainly not my last time. The place was full but it is sort of like visiting your favorite aunt and uncle -- there's always room for one more. The bacon and sausage along with the hash browns and eggs is enough for two hefty guys like me. Oh, the pancakes and coffee are filling as well. My cardiologist will probably NOT approve, but my stomach does!)

Yelp
Simo's diner gives you a no nonsense Northeast 70's diner experience and happily advertise their food is meant for working folks. Pretty darn good for retirees too. Great prices and hearty plates of no frills comfort food. You won't find any wayward parsley here as food is for eating not for looking pretty (come to think of it, no one plates with parsley any more but you get my drift). A side of bacon gets you FIVE slices. A biscuit and gravy side offers an option of one or two biscuits but trust me when I say one is enough. And that sausage gravy is full of savory pellets of sausage and bursting with flavor. No fancy, clever names or complicated dishes, just quality essentials and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where the staff gets to know your name.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is always so good. And at a very reasonable price. Service is good. Staff is very friendly. I'm a big milk drinker and they have some of the coldest milk.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
A perfect straightforward no frills diner. We came here for breakfast one morning. The service is wonderful, the food is solid, and the prices are great. This is a neighborhood gem that I'm happy we stopped into try. We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Wanted chicken fried steak and found this place. The chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly I love when it's more meat than dough. The gravy was a little blan and running but the waitress did say it was the last of it. Anyways for a little salt and pepper and just like that it was good to eat with my chicken fried steak lol. Now them green beans were the best!!! And my husband loves his juicy burger. Our waitress was very nice so I give service 5 stars. Wish I could give this place that extra star but due to the gravy I can't lie sorry but I will be back to try the breakfast.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent all the way around. Best gyro meat we have ever had. And great Greek salad.

Amanda N.

Yelp
Simos is always great! I LOVE coming here for breakfast- it is served until 11am, btw! I haven't had a bad dish here. You will not walk away from your table hungry. I've been here for lunch several times as well and they serve a solid gyro. I haven't tried their steam table yet, but I've heard from everyone it is amazing. The staff is always friendly. I hope they are around for years to come! They are closed Sundays and they are closed for dinner.

Rob H.

Yelp
Oh my, a friend of mine recommended this place. Food was excellent! For the price you cannot beat it. Staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is like being in a old fashion diner.
google avatar

Katrina B.

Yelp
I'm super impressed! I've been wanting Chicken and Dumplings, so I ordered the Wednesday special to go. It came in a quart size container, and there was enough to save half for lunch tomorrow! There was big chunks of chicken and great flavor. It's a cute little diner with a cafeteria like station. I'll be back! The staff was friendly and welcoming.
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
A friend had invited me to this place so I agreed. Upon arrival I already knew what I wanted because I viewed the menu on Yelp. The food was fresh, homemade, and delicious. The servers and staff were kind and pleasant for our visit. I'll be back! Everything was great. Thank you

Yelp
It seems all of the entrees on the line come with (3) sides. The sides can be cold (peaches, coleslaw, macaroni salad, side salad, etc...) or hot (green beans, rice, mashed potatoes, etc...). The portions are good. I chose the Chicken Fried Steak (fresh from the back) with Mac and cheese, macaroni salad and boiled cabbage. The coleslaw and side salad looked fresh. The staff passes a basket of complimentary bread rolls once you sit down. The CFS had a good crispy exterior and seasoned interior. It met my expectations in terms of crispiness and flavor. The white gravy had a more buttery flavor than I expected, but it tasted fine. The mac and cheese had very soft macaroni and a more pepper-flavored cheese sauce than other places. The macaroni salad (chicken, carrot and corn) was refreshing and had a light coating of the sauce. The boiled cabbage was tender. The bread roll was soft and had a white bread taste. It comes with Smart Balance spread. The interior is brightly lit and comfortable. There are booths and tables to sit at. The restroom appears and smells old-fashioned. The parking lot is busy in the morning and at lunch. I hadn't eaten here in years and thought the experience had improved.
google avatar

Tim J.

Yelp
Ihop like menu, but with good service. I try new restaurants alot, and sometimes it punishes for not sticking to the tried and true spots. Always drove by this place, and parking lot is always semi full. Intrigued by the strange greek fonts, thought i would give it a shot. It wasnt too busy so i took the staff's recommended steak and eggs. Instead of medium rare it was tanned leather. Really fatty cut so it was playing a game of landmines around looking for edible pieces. The gravy for the biscuit was loaded with meat, but way under seasoned. If u want a waffle house type of menu, this would be for u, if u want a more modern menu, i'd try the other side of 610.

Yelp
My daughter and I love this place. It's old school to the max. Waitresses and staff are very friendly and make you feel at home. They have the best sausage gravy and wonderful biscuits. I also love their pork chops. My daughter is a fan of their pancakes and she is a real pancake aficionado. Try it!
google avatar

Yelp
Simos Diner is a great place to start your day. The food is excellent and the workers really make you feel like family. Even with Covid going on, the place is always bustling. I love the breakfast combo here! It comes with eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, and hash browns. Its a really hearty meal at an affordable price. The cooks do a great job. When I am in need of a great breakfast, I will be sure to make a visit to Simos Diner! I can't wait to be back.

Yelp
Your typical mom and pop diner. Nothing that stands out about the menu itself, but the food is good and great customer service. Always packed on Saturdays, but most likely because they are closed on Sundays.

Ed R.

Yelp
First time here. Had breakfast, a little skeptical from the outside, but the inside was nice and clean! This was one of the best breakfast I had in years!!! Also the service was the best ever!!!

Brenda C.

Yelp
I love their turkey and dressing. Everything on their steam table is homemade and delicious. My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. Service is great, I especially have momma in my heart forever. Environment is friendly and I have never had a bad encounter with anyone.
google avatar

Hexenn A.

Yelp
Old school diner. Locals locals local. The food is good! Breakfast is great. Just old school diner stuff. Places like this are disappearing so swing by and enjoy the experience
google avatar

Jessie L.

Yelp
I got breakfast ordered here during the pandemic and it was delicious!! I was about to easily call to place my order and it was done within 10 mins. I drove over, paid, came home to the most delicious breakfast of bacon, eggs, pancakes, biscuits, and grits. It hit the spot! I'll be trying their lunch specials which I posted a picture of. Loved it!
google avatar

Susan E.

Yelp
I had the chicken fried steak, mac & cheese, peas and green beans. Everything was delicious! The green beans had a little bit of tomato. Delicious! Staff was very friendly and courteous.

Kyler G.

Yelp
simos diner has been a place I've eaten for years, they have given me full respect and my food has came out to me fresh and ready to eat
google avatar

Marianne B.

Yelp
This is THE best place for breakfast - can't go wrong with the Simo's Special. The breakfast here is WAY more yummy (and not nearly as pricey) than popular places which happen to be known for their breakfasts, like Snooze. I'll take Simo's breakfast over Snooze any day of the week. Well, except Sundays, because Simo's is closed on Sundays. Their lunch buffet doesn't look like it would be all that great, but we finally tried it the other day and LOVED it! Wonderful, tasty comfort food that hit the spot. AND, they serve chicken and dumplings (lunch) on Wednesdays. But they run out pretty quick, so best to go or call in the order early. I also love that this is a family-run business. The owner (or owner's son?) is always behind the counter workin his ass off, and seems to know most of his customers. I respect and admire that. My only complaint is that they're closed on Sundays.
google avatar

Lindsey P.

Yelp
Great family diner. Stopped for breakfast and had a fabulous omelette that was enough to feed all of all. Fresh and hot full of veggies! Crisp hash browns and toast. Everything was made to order. Hot fresh coffee topped off a great breakfast. Greek influence is the family Secret Place was spotlessly clean. We will eat here again!
google avatar

Metztli R.

Yelp
Came to have breakfast with my niece and we both agreed it would be our new go to place for breakfast after her soccer games. She had the pancakes combo & I ordered the French toast combo. Would definitely come back! The food is delicious, fresh, & cheap!
google avatar

Jim D.

Yelp
This is my favorite style of dining... an old fashioned diner/cafeteria where you get to look at all of the choices and decide what you want. The truth is that I was headed to the Country Kitchen for Friday fish. I learned that is has closed permanently due to the COVID. So, I came to Simos which is very close and similar in style. The fried fish was as good as you can get and the tartar sauce was even better. The boiled cabbage, summer squash and broccoli were done to perfection and with a little less salt than is traditional. I can't wait to go back.
google avatar

Teresa G.

Yelp
Nice family place with casual atmosphere and classic look. Good service and better food. Do not expect nothing fancy: just your regular breckfast of bacon, eggs, and toasts.

Brandy S.

Yelp
This is a wonderful, local diner with great staff and great food! It's definitely a hidden gem!
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
Great food and awesome waitstaff! Definitely worth checking out and eating there. I recommend checking it out.
google avatar

Paty H.

Yelp
I ordered the simos breakfast special. It was all really good hot & fresh. My favorite were the grits. My son's favorite was the bacon and pancakes. Will be back when on this side of town.

Margaret B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast and it was great. I had the special breakfast and I could not even finish it because it was so much food. Would definitely visit again.
google avatar

Monserato R.

Yelp
Great place to have a quick bit for breakfast or lunch. Been here many of times mostly for breakfast and some lunch. The portion sizes of all their plates are hearty so if you looking something little... it might be on the menu, but I've never seen it...or looked for it. So I'm on a diet of some sorts so I got oatmeal and a fruit bowl and it was delicious but my dad got the Simos breakfast special with 3 eggs and all the fixings... so what I'm saying is they have healthier choices but you are really going to want the good stuff. Don't get me wrong the oatmeal and fruit cut was great, but the big breakfast look better. Parking is a bit tight but plenty of parking the place does get packed for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast they have a menu to order from, but lunch they have a menu and a lunch buffet that you pick your plate that you can eat there or to go. I've alway took it to go lunch time is packed. Overall I'll keep going back... just not on diet.
google avatar

Ed W.

Yelp
What a great place Great food great personnel Always feel welcome just got back from doing a take out at 215 I love simos keep up the great work
google avatar

Betsy G.

Yelp
I live 5 min from this place i would always past by it but it would be closed. My husband and I finally decided to catch it while it was open for breakfast and everything about this place is great! Right away we got served and food was hot and fast. Our server I Cant remember her name which sucks because i would want to give her credit she was the sweetest person! I loved it here. I'll be recommending this place. Food is delicious crispy bacon, fluffy pancakes, soft eggs, and delicious hash browns! I will definitely be coming back. Very mom and pop feels.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
Man let me tell you this place is a home run it is a diamond in the rough I assure you, don't let the location or the outside appearance stop you from going in and getting yourself a good home cooked meal like Mom would make it's setup kind of cafeteria-style with steam tables that you get to choose and pick your salad, entree and vegetables from the servers are polite and quick to help I was thoroughly impressed I will definitely be going back
google avatar

Lucha R.

Yelp
Service and food are good and this is one of my favorite neighborhood spots but I probably won't be back until after the Covid 19 pandemic is over. I was shocked and disappointed to see the owner and son and cooks not wearing masks. Customers are taking a risk by eating out and I myself want to support local businesses. Customers wear their masks while coming and going so to see owners and staff not protecting us was heartbreaking.
google avatar

Antonio H.

Yelp
This basic diner done right . Outstanding Marisa kept coffee full and was friendly . Strong coffee and the basics .vegan choices are limited fruit plate and coffee. Comfort food steam table lunch. My friend loved the eggs and bacon. Clean and full of regulars , so many police and fire fighters that you're safe in emergency.
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
This place is so amazing, everyone is friendly and all the waitresses are nice to you. Just stepping into the room can you now smell every pancake, bacon, egg, and more. I have a great time here. Come on down yourself and have some Simos food!
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Always great service and friendly people. That's the main reason I keep coming back. I have only eaten breakfast here, but as far as I can tell all the portions are large and the taste is on point. Not your typical place for the heights and that is why I like it. It's has more of home feel to it!
google avatar

Nicole A.

Yelp
This was our favorite breakfast place while in Houston for three months. Super friendly staff. Food was amazing and crazy cheap. My favorite was simos special. 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and pancakes less than $10. Family owned. Don't be deterred by how it looks. Building is run down and unappealing but I guarantee that the food is amazing. You know it's good when there are police officers there every morning.
google avatar

Scott C.

Yelp
Struggled between giving Simos 4 or 5 stars, but for its class of restaurant (divey diner?), it excels. First and foremost, the food is pretty darn good (especially the biscuits!). Breakfast sandwich, burger patty and eggs, pancakes...they all hit the spot. Second, great service, hometown feel; seems like everyone is a local. Lastly, great value for the food and service. Don't waste your time with Denny's or some garbage like that. If you're looking for a no-frills diner, give this place a try.
google avatar

Tracie B.

Yelp
Saturday breakfast with some friends has made its way to Simos Diner. It was closed for a while due to a fire, but theyre up and running again. They added on and made it bigger as well but it has the same look to it. You will never get the same coffee mug twice here, they have an assortment of coffee mugs that are not matching. Some say "Merry Christmas", while others just have geometric patterns on them. all pretty random! The breakfast cost a little bit more here that it does down the street at our old breakfast spot. But really, the food is no different. Eggs, bacon, biscuits, it's all the same.. It's easy to stay pretty Keto here. i've always gotten just eggs and bacon because I don't want to mess up my diet on diner food. The bacon is always so crisp and cooked just right. the eggs I usually get scrambled because it's easier to eat while holding a baby. they are nice and fluffy, the way a scrambled egg should be. Everyone else always gets the Simos special which comes with eggs, bacon or sausage, a biscuit or toast , hasbrowns or grits. They all seem to enjoy it, they get it every single time we come here.
google avatar

Carlos L.

Yelp
A good breakfast spot with consistently good food. The pork chops and omelettes are great and I love how they cook their hashbrowns. The staff is always friendly and the place has a very homey family feeling.

Brenda W.

Yelp
We got our Thanksgiving meal from here. Tasted like a home cooked meal and had great, friendly service. I recommend this place to anyone and will definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Justin P.

Yelp
Diamond in the rough! This place was great and staff was super friendly and attentive. Ended up doing breakfast but looking forward to coming back and trying the lunches as they looked amazing!

Ted J.

Yelp
We got the Simos Special (breakfast) for $8.95 plus tax and were impressed by everything that came with it. The food was enjoyable. Our waitress was civil, yet she provided rudimentary service. Granted, we weren't expecting her to grovel or dote, but she gave service that seemed the bare minimum. Oh well.
