The ambiance is warm and inviting when you enter Simpl Things in the evening, greeted by the always-smiling chefs in the kitchen. The cocktails are nothing short of sensational, and the espresso martini that always gets praised among friends is one of the best in the city. Chef Betty's food has Asian flavors created with a sophisticated French technique. For brunch, their Pasta Cartl feature is definitely a must-try, allowing you to reserve a table for weekend brunch. The portions are generous, starting with two delicious fish croquetas for only $9. The tagliolini, at $19, is brimming with flavor, rarely allowing the aromatics of the ingredients to be overpowered by one another.

This place was a pleasant surprise! The food was flavorful and reasonably priced, and their Thursday $12 martini special made the experience even better. The staff were attentive and kind, and both the indoor and patio seating areas were beautifully designed. Although the weather was cold, the restaurant thoughtfully provided blankets, which added to the comfort. My only minor disappointment was the chashu portion it felt a bit small. Other than that, I would definitely return. A great new find!

We went for the daily happy hour 3-5. The 3 drinks we had were very tasty and varied. The mystery wine of the day was their Niagara rose which was decent but very good value. The chips were freshly fired with their own curry spice mix but were a bit overcooked for our tastes. Definitely a great place for a mid day patio drink.

WOW. Everything was absolutely awesome here from the decor to the food! The pickle plate was perfection and I am going to be thinking about that french toast for some time! I can’t wait to come back here for dinner!

New favorite speakeasy on queen west! Truly a hidden gem! Nora our bartender not only whipped up some really cool cocktails for us but is also fun to chat with about her travels as a bartender. Fun spot for a night cap. Will come back to try the food there and of course more cocktails 🍹🍸

I went to Simpl Things tonight with seven friends. We had the black pepper calamari, steamed bao, mushroom salad, fried chicken, steamed dumplings and chefs platters. Everything was amazing. The fried chicken was perhaps the best I’ve ever had in Canada. The chefs platter steak and sausage were divine. The service and atmosphere were great. Loved the 90’s grooves on Spotify. And the prices are reasonable especially considering the dish quality. Do yourself a favor and give Simpl Things a try. We will be going back.

The food was good for the most part. But the Dumplings came out cold, the wrapper was super hard, and when I cut it open, the pork meat looked pink and stringy (looked raw) server said they are cooked sous vide and that it was not possible for them to be raw. Got served new ones and they had a nice cooked color all the way through. Staff was nice overall, but missing that little extra that makes you want to come back. Some of the garnishes fell on the table (green onions, sauces, fried onions..) but instead of cleaning, the staff just put the new plates on tops of those garnishes. While waiting for dessert, I decided to clean the myself with my napkin. When the staff saw me do so, they just said oh let me grab that for you. They took my dirty napkin away and never brought out another to replace it.

We had brunch at SIMPL THINGS, and it was quite an interesting local spot. This place has a unique setup with two restaurants in one location. Until 4-5 PM, one group runs it, and after an hour, it turns into a Chinese restaurant. The brunch was nice. The sandwiches were very impressive, though the egg sausage dish was not that special. The mashed potato, which was placed in the oven and roasted, was a unique and tasty experience for me. The server was nice and attentive. The location is close to a food shelter, which wasn’t ideal, but the unique decoration inside made it feel separate and cozy. Overall, a pleasant experience and worth a visit.
