Tallulah’s Taqueria Review - Fox Point - Providence - The Infatuation

"Tallulah’s has long been one of the best places in town to grab a burrito. The glossy tortillas are packed tight with beans, rice, and tender meat (or papas, if you want to go meatless). The same goes for the tacos or tortas, both of which are stuffed, completely messy, and really good. While you could take your order to go for a picnic at nearby India Point Park, they do have limited outdoor seating during warmer months where you can drink some house margaritas or agua frescas on the patio. They also recently opened a location on Sims Ave., so you can eat inside their new-ish space or wander around the Farm Fresh building and check out the farmers market." - Grace Kelly

Never knew about a second location. Tons of shared seating available. Kind of an upscale chipotle feel. Ordered a carnita/steak Torta. (Mexican sandwich) Unique meat seasoning. Pricing is pretty steep for tacos and they shrunk the original serving size. Almost $6 but worth it. The meat wasn’t as flavorful as before. Needed some seasoning. They should also offer regular modelos.

Currently still sitting here eating; but it's literally such a poor experience I'm writing this to make sure I don't forget. The food is mid grade. Nothing spectacular. It's over priced for the quality. $21 for a taco and nachos. The queso is not liquid queso but shredded queso blanco but the staff doesn't mention that nor does the menu clarify it. So aside from it being lackluster it also took 20 minutes with only 2 people orders in front of us. Biggest issue being; In the picture you can clearly see the large gap on the plate from them putting my side items ON THE PLATE and by proxy lowering the portion of the already very expensive item by 15-20% or more. When I asked the worker and showed her she literally agreed and said no you're right; then asked another guy who literally lied and said it would have came like that regardless. Then changed it to. Oh well I moved it over for the sides. Which wouldn't be possible because it wasn't moveable because the cheese made it all stuck together. Overall bad experience. Not worth the money paid. Definitely wouldn't recommend. I mean come on it's a Friday at 1pm. We were 2 of 8 ppl in the place. But yeah it's cute. Smh Pictures are the dining room, ordering area, and a carne asada taco $5ish and the nachos chicken $15ish =$21

Ahhh Mexican food - that filling hearty cuisine that rarely miss its gustatory marks. Was just looking for a well-reviewed Mexican place to get our taco-rice-and-beans-nacho fix while in Providence for the day and Tallulah’s came up on top. But of course we gotta try it, and we weren’t disappointed at all. Hearty portions, reasonably priced, too. It wasnt hopping or mad busy in the middle of the day, but people were in and out pretty steadily - takeout or dine in. Speaking of which, there are only outdoor dining. Seating is on either side of the building that houses the kitchen-cum-pickup area-register. Open space with communal tables. Not really sure what the setup is during high summer or dead of winter🫣, but if i go by the people who ate and took orders out in the whole hour we had our meal, i would say there must be some coverage of this outdoor seating arrangement - reason i knocked a star off🫣. The food there is just too good for them to close the place down. In any case, i hope u try their offerings. Highly recommend!

We did a quick search online for tacos. This place came up amongst many other options. We read the reviews and realized quickly we needed to check this place out. As soon as we walked in the door we were warmly greeted to a nice clean Indoor "taco stand". (they have way more than tacos) The person behind the counter was extremely friendly, helpful and led us on our Mexican Journey. We each got three different tacos, fresh salsa, chips, guacamole and local soda. The prices were perfect considering the quality and quantity. We grabbed seats in their outdoor seating area. And within a few minutes the friendly staff brought our plate out. I was expecting tacos to be wrapped up and throw in the bag, yet I was extremely excited to see their presentation. The tacos look like a work of art on the plate. Each Taco had a unique taste and was topped with amazingly fresh cilantro. From the first bite to the last bite we enjoyed every morsel of Mexican goodness that was on our plate. We will be back for sure to check out every other item on their menu. It is worth the drive from Fall River!

This brings back great San Diego memories for me. I fell in love with tacos in Cali when I was out there and have been searching for good tacos ever since. I ordered 5 different tacos - carnitas, al pastor, carne asada, lengua, and fried shrimp. When I had the lengua (beef tounge) and fried shrimp ones, I was gonna give this place 5 stars because it's SO GOOD. However, all the others were very mediocre and not the best. The meats were a bit dry and hard. My boyfriend had the burrito bowl with beef tounge which was really good in my opinion! I'm so glad he went with the beef tounge meat since the others were really not impressive at all! His bowl came with lots of rice, beans, and veggies. Very good spot for tacos! Price isn't the cheapest, but it's worth it.

Bowl want very fresh greens. A bit spicy imo. But it's really good. Sitting is only high tables inside the restaurants. There are sit down tables outside on both sides of the restaurant. Music was not overly loud. Would come back again

It is a little confusing if you’re unfamiliar with Sims Ave but if you go by ISCO across the street from the Farm Fresh, it is directly across. They are like directly facing the street but covered by bushes. Next to New Harvest. Just as good as their loved location. Maybe even better. Fun seating inside. Plenty of outdoor seating as well and the place next door has heaters and doesn’t mind people using them. People often bring their dogs to this area (tho I don’t know if they’re allowed inside the actual place but maybe just the outside seating)

Delicious, affordable and well-proportioned tacos and burritos. Try out the chorizo tacos if you like your tacos with dashes of spice and flavor - you'll live it. I'm a frequent visitor to Providence and find myself coming back here at least twice a week!

Yelp
Yum!! I was working from the coffee shop next door and decided it was time for lunch, Tallulah's was the perfect option. I ordered online which was easy and the order was ready right when they said it would be. I tried the Frijole taco and the chorizo taco. Both were tasty and I found them to be super filling. They were flavorful and had great pairings within the taco. The interior was pretty empty since it was a nice day, but all their outdoor tables were taken. The interior is large and airy and it could definitely be a good spot for a larger group. Employees were friendly and everyone was greeted with a smile. I will be back!

Yelp
Fun lil place we found when we went to the providence flea ! It's in a great space ! Fun tacos , quesadillas nachos and more .... Long community tables and high tops and great long live edge wood table if you have a big party ! Very clean boho decor & everyone's friendly ! It's not your typical taco pls e there radishes & fresh veggies pickled to add to the great flavor. We got nachos , quesadillas & two chicken tacos! Everything was great I didn't however love the cubed chicken in the tacos i did think maybe it was tofu but it wasn't bad just not what we're used to in tacos. Great place to try we would definetly go back & I'll try the tacos again with a different protein :)

Yelp
I love this place so much that I always forget to leave a review! Both locations are great and consistent... don't know what else to say- just a solid staple for me. Favorites are Carnitas Burrito, Cóctel De Camarón, and Al Pastor/Carnitas/Barbacoa tacos. When i'm in the mood, the shrimp (Fried Camaron) and fish (Fried Pescado) tacos are also good! They have a rewards program that you can earn points to redeem for free food and I LOVE that- I usually order ahead on the app! Ok, now I wan to go get a burrito and the shrimp cocktail!

Yelp
Very casual ambiance , nice place to get a healthy version of Mexican food. Service was very quick, the had a decent variety of meats and seafood to put on your choice of Tacos, nachos , torta, or burritos. I choose the nachos. It was the healthiest plate of nachos I ever had and the tastiest . I loved there queso black and the crème fresh . The barbacoa was amazing and I loved the freshness of all the vegetables on the plate. The nachos they use were also great. They tasted fresh and were cut very thick so the nachos on the bottom were not soggy by the time you got to them. Also the quantity on the plate was perfect for one person , without you feeling over stuffed and bloated from eating the whole dish !

Yelp
The location at 10 Sims ave is huge. This is much bigger than the location on Ives street. The food is always excellent and the staff are super friendly. On Saturdays a farmer market is open at the Farm Fresh HUB. You can't go wrong with the fried fish taco or the chicken taco. My husband loves all of the burrito options.

Yelp
I was very excited about the opening of a Tallulan's near my place. The original is not too far, but the traffic and the parking issues in Fox Point are sometimes a problem. I got a few friends and we went for an early dinner. When we arrived, we noticed a sign on the main entrance door saying there was no indoor dining at the moment. I guess they were still working on the floor, so the option was to eat outside (many tables available-It was cold and windy, so not the most optimal setting for patio dining). We got to the window to order. We ordered three carne asada tacos, my husband ordered a beer and as we were ready to check out the lady said, would you like some hot sauce? I said yes, the spicy one. My husband paid and we sat down. Then he said...the bill was over $27. Was that too high? I said....yes.....The tacos are like $4.25 each...so yes... He went back to the window and asked the lady. Well...she mistakenly entered FOUR tacos instead of 3. And she did not know how to refund or credit a transaction back on a credit card. My husband is easy going, so he said....that's fine...just give us the 4...we will eat them. The lady said she was going to throw some extra goodies in our order for the mix up. When we got the order, she had gifted us some chips and guacamole. The guac was not creamy and fresh, it tasted like factory made. The chips had some kind of dusting on them like paprika or cinnamon, so that was not a good thing for me, since I am allergic to cinnamon. Our friends got some churros and they gave us some to try ... they were really good....the highlight of the meal. Very upset about the experience: - Order was entered wrong - Worker can not credit a transaction - Indoor dining was not available (it was cold and windy) - The tacos were good, but not great.... Don't think I will be going back anytime soon. That was just not right, how staff are not properly trained.

Yelp
After a delightful cocktail across the street, my friend and I headed here for din din. The portions are HUGE. My burrito with shtedded pork was delish. A great place for a quick bite to ear!

Yelp
I was excited about the new location near my home. I've always gotten takeout, never dined in. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. Got the chicken burrito, 2 tacos, and chips and guac. The tacos were good but too pricey at 5$ each. The burrito was delish but you've to pay 2.70$ extra if you want salsa which is absurd in a Mexican/Tex-Mex place. The guac tasted ok but didn't seem fresh. We also got margaritas that were pretty weak and cost 11$ ( should've gone across the street instead). Overall it was an AOK experience. The ambiance is casual. Service was alright, the guy taking our order didn't seem particularly friendly.

Yelp
Came here for lengua tacos but sadly, they don't serve lengua anymore. The place looks more like a modern coffee shop than a mexican taqueria. Food was good and service was fast.

Yelp
Update the hours on apple maps so that people don't waste their time walking here when they're hungry

Yelp
This was the worst chicken quesadilla I've ever had. Flavorless cardboard, and not even filling--I doubt it had more than 500 calories altogether. I'm completely serious--I'm not generally dramatic, nor prone to leaving unnecessarily negative reviews. I felt scammed by my meal here. It was as though a child made it. A child who hated me, and wanted as much money as possible for some garbage in the general shape of a quesadilla.

Dan Z.

Yelp
Great food, great service, chill place. You can also order margaritas at the counter. Love having this option is the building and their partnership with the Providence Brewing Company next door.

Irese S.

Yelp
I love Tallulah's and have always considered the pickled radishes to be their sort of signature. Lately they are not nearly as tasty as they used to be. My burrito today had plenty of radish but none tasted pickled. I'd love it if the kitchen would make a burrito the way they might want to eat a burrito. Today though, it was loaded with stacks of radishes. Having things spread out throughout would be better and please fix the radish situation!

Yelp
I was very excited to see another branch closer to my home and that this is in the Farm Fresh RI facility. I ordered online for pick up the first night they were open and everything went smoothly. That night it seemed like there were still some finishing touches needed for the storefront but I was only there for takeout anyway so I had no issues. Will be back for sure.

Brandon H.

Yelp
We were able to place our order ahead, very easy and convenient pickup, took it a few blocks downtown and ate at a table on the river! Great authentic flavors, only wished I would've ordered two of the Mango Agua Fresca's to drink! So good!

Alexander G.

Yelp
Tallulah's' had a bad patch in the early Covid period, but it has recovered and many of the menu items are better than ever. This is neither standard taco truck fare nor what is usually called "authentic," but it's tasty and the ingredients are fresh, If you don't like radishes you may want to ask for an alternative strong flavor in your tacos .

Cami D.

Yelp
This was our first time eating here and we will definitely be back. The inside of the restaurant and the dining area is clean and inviting. The food was fresh and delicious. We loved the fun little touches like the chip bags and signs. Great experience!

Yelp
Love this place! Great, fresh food! Great to go during warm weather as seating is outside. Delicious tacos and quesadillas.

Yelp
Worth the 30 minute - and I don't usually like to wait. Delicious take on Mexican. Fresh, delicious. We were there on a Saturday night during a street fair, very busy. I can't believe that I am giving Mexican food a 5, after all isn't it usually the same group of ingredients on most dishes? ....... IT IS A FIVE STAR!

Yelp
Putting in a good word for this branch of the popular east side taco place. These are really good artisanal tacos. Nice margs. Friendly counter people. Seating area is a little sterile but not unpleasantly so. I think it is considered industrial as is much of the surrounding neighborhood. It is nice to see businesses moving in to this area. Makes for a more fun neighborhood.

Kathryn M.

Yelp
Went to this location before a show. You place your order and receive a pager that signals when the food is ready. The order taker was friendly and patient. I ordered a bowl with carne asada. The wait was reasonable. There are indoor and outdoor tables. I was disappointed that the bowl was cold when I dove in. I've had some delicious hot bowls at Chipotle. I did not register a complaint and forged on. The carne asada had gristle which was a real turnoff. On the plus side, the ingredients were fresh and plentiful. It would have been good if served warm - hot. I prob would have overlooked the gristle ( set it aside ). My bad for not sending it back for heat, but I had to make the show.

Yelp
Tallulahs never lets me down! Fantastic tacos (al pastor, fish carnitas) and amazeballs black beans that I wish you could buy by the quart (because I certainly would!) Love the Sims Ave loc with its spacious airy light filled indoor seating. Very clean (bathrooms too) and comfy. Friendly fast service too. Will be back next time we're in the area.

Lia P.

Yelp
Great food but would NEVERRRRR wait that long again for a single burrito. Almost half an hour.
