Don’t let the shack vibe fool you, this spot surprised me. The Vietnamese lettuce cups were fresh, crunchy, and perfect for a summer day (loved the pickled veggies, though I’d skip the peanuts next time). My wife’s bulgogi with rice was a little sweet but packed with flavor. Great beachside find, I’d definitely stop here again on the way to Solana Beach.

Google
Overall a cute place to grab a bite by the beach. Good array of Asian fusion options. I went the online order route and it was ready in exactly the estimated time. Would recommend for an easy beach day option.

UPDATE: we are back one year later. The amount of meat in the sandwiches has gone down quite a bit from what I remember. Maybe it just seems that way. But, the service is the worst in Solana Beach. I was there today and they are so focused on catering to the phone orders and to DoorDash, that walk-up customers are simply irritants. I watched those two young girls screw up at least 15 orders. Every single order had an issue with it. When I saw people leaving with their food who had ordered 10 minutes after me, I asked where my food was. It had been sitting out on the counter for quite a while. When I told her my name, she stared at the two sandwiches and said, “oh, I didn’t know whose sandwiches these were. I could not read the writing.” It is worth noting that it was her writing. We won’t be back. I waited over 40 minutes. It’s a Monday and few people were at the restaurant. The food here is absolutely phenomenal. The customer service was really good. Though our sandwiches were ready within a few minutes, it took 35 minutes to get a quesadilla for one of our kids. That was pretty odd. Great location. The Banh Mi sandwich is the greatest ever! We will be back.

Google
I simply do not understand the other reviewers saying the food and/or service was subpar. My husband and I were there on an anniversary trip from Atlanta and this was a SUPER fun lunch stop as we were out walking Solana Beach. There’s even the tiniest view of the ocean from the front porch bar seats. The customer service was INCREDIBLE. We were served our food quickly even though there were several other customers at the same time. Food portions were very generous. The owner took time to talk to us personally and was incredibly friendly. Seriously one of the highlights of our trip. It’s a “shack” and that’s the vibe they are going for and it totally works. Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. Not sure what else you could ask for from a fast food establishment. Don’t pass by! Definitely give it a try! It’s something unique. Not just another burger, taco or chicken sandwich. And be sure to talk to Sindi if she’s there. She’s just lovely to chat with. Recommend 10/10!!

Google
The crispy rice w/tuna is my absolute favorite, but everything here is solid for a quick meal. The owner, Sindi, is a very kind and friendly lady who is passionate about her business, and it reflects in the food that they serve there. The espresso is pretty decent here too.

Google
There's a wide array of tempting options on the menu here. We had the Spam Musubi, Lemongrass Chicken Salad, and Japanese Curry. Everything was good. Curry definitely needed more kick and the ambiance of dining in a parking lot made me miss the coziness of the old Hideaway Cafe which wasn't maintained with the new space.

Google
Small family-owned Asian fusion restaurant by the beach, perfect for grabbing a shared meal during a sunset watch :) I appreciate the authenticity of an Asian wife and husband cooking warm meals in a remodeled hangar-style shack. There's so much to choose from.. if you're craving something Vietnamese or Korean, they got it: banh mis, kimchi grilled cheese, Korean ramyun, and rice bowls. They also serve shaved ice and boba milk teas! We got the kimchi quesadilla $11, pretty solid and yummy choice. Spicy, cheesy, toasty, and not too messy. There are a few tables outside, but we just took the food to go. Would come back again to try a drink!

Google
I wish I didn’t but breakfast here, but the $6 Thai tea and “flavorless” milk boba teas were good. The spam musubi were such a comfort. The bahn mi is good, but too heavy with pickled vegetables. I like spam and my grilled cheese spam breakfast sandwich was not worth $7, maybe $4. The “loco moco” was hyped up by the employee and it was so underwhelming.

Yelp
Breakfast burrito SO DELICIOUS. Sausage. Also the spam musubi... GREAT. What a great snack hack!! Some other reviewers complained about the quantity of the spam... It's a nice slice and very delicious. If you want a whole can of spam, go to the grocery store!!
google avatar

Natalie P.

Yelp
Ordered a bahn mi, chicken katsu misubi, spam misubi, and a Thai milk tea with boba. The spam misubi is a classic--the type of seaweed wrap they used was a bit flimsy, and I missed the crisp bites I can take from other misubi I have, and the seaweed doesn't unravel from just one bite. I was a bit disappointed with how easily the two misubis fell apart. I still did enjoy the taste of both orders. I ordered 75% sweetness for my Thai milk tea and it was still way too sweet. I wish I did 25%. I def recommend ordering lower sweetness levels as a standard. The bahn mi was extremely lacking. It basically only had meat and no vegetables whatsoever. I would not order this again. If I were to swing by again before heading to the nearby beaches for a convenient bite, I would still order the misubi, but might ask them to wrap it twice over, or order a bowl instead. I would like to try the milk tea again at a lowered sweetness level.

Yelp
According to the sign out front, this place used to be an actual garage to a residence. I could see that. Honestly, I never knew this small restaurant existed. But I am clearly in the minority: the place was absolutely jumping on a Saturday afternoon. You order at the counter and, even though there is a nice patio deck, every order is wrapped for takeout. I am a sucker for banh mi sandwiches and went with pork as my protein. The veggies were incredibly fresh and very colorful. The pork was flavorful. The bread was fresh but didn't wow me. It's a solid sandwich. It's also very long but not crazy wide. The menu is mostly Asian or Asian-influenced and has a lot of interesting options. I would absolutely give these guys another try.

Yelp
Being born and raised in Hawaii I was craving a good spam musubi. I ordered from here once and the spam musubi completely fell apart. I thought it was a one time thing as I took it home and ate it 15 min later. Today, I checked it as soon as I got to my car and it fell apart immediately. I asked the cashier who was super kind and friendly if they could rewrap which they did quickly. When I got home, it still fell apart and one of the spam musubis had a piece of spam cut as thin as a piece of paper. I couldn't believe someone would serve that and not just recut an appropriate size piece of spam lol! Besides that the middle was good. Will not order spam musubis here again but am willing to try other dishes in the far future.

Yelp
The service was amazing and food was even better. Will be back all the time, love it!

Yelp
This is a very small business with a great menu- breakfast, lunch, snacks and early dinner. Perfect for a beach picnic across the street at Fletchers Beach Park. Everything is super fresh and yummy with a good variety of options for vegetarian, vegan and omnivores.
google avatar

Yelp
Came across this place after going to the beach and it really hit the spot!! The bulgogi beef bowl was TOP TIER, I definitely recommend it. The flavors come together so well. The chicken katsu musubi was also yummy, the chicken was super crispy, but the ratio with the rice was a little off- would've liked more chicken than rice. We also got bulgogi kimchi quesadillas which tasted really good too! Maybe would've tried different meat next time because the flavor with the kimchi wasn't quite what I was expecting, but still really good. It's a takeout restaurant with small seating in the front. Everything seems freshly cooked and service is quite fast! The portions are a little small for the price, but because the food was so good, I can't complain!
google avatar

Jeanie P.

Yelp
Cute lil shake! We got the curry and kimchi cheese sandwich. Very filling and delicious. I love that the weather was nice enough for us to eat on the patio. However there wasn't many "snack" options but lots of food options
google avatar

Brian P.

Yelp
I asked a local where to grab a bite to eat in Solana Beach. He immediately said Sindis Snack Shack. So I tried it and I'm really glad I did. What a great little place by the sea. Food is really good and Sindi is a sweet heart. I'll be back for sure. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Ohh secret spot that many people don't know about ! This is Korean woman owned Korean/asian/hawaiian food business! The food is authentic and I love the spam musubi, the glass noodles and bimbimbap! The crispy rice cake with tuna is also delicious. I met the owner today she's super down to earth and friendly! Sometimes the wait can be long if there's a bunch of people ordering too, so I like to put my phone down with the cashier to call me while I take a quick walk down the beach that's just a few feet away.
google avatar

Gina B.

Yelp
The food is yummy and the service is great. The super nice and helpful staff are eager to help explain the menu, if needed. Try it, I believe you will like it!
google avatar

Yelp
Get my dog groomed down the block and I usually have about 45 min to kill. Decided I wanted some coffee and saw this place on Yelp had Vietnamese coffee which I love. Stopped by, ordered 2 one for me and one for my husband. They only had enormous boba straws which was just funny to drink the coffees with but low rating bc I didn't like the way it tasted. It wasn't really Vietnamese coffee the way k know it.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing!! This spot is our go to in Solana Beach. Friendly staff and amazing food from a cut little shack in Solana.
google avatar

Mark C.

Yelp
The glass noodle dish was good. The pork was a bit too salty but mixed with noodles it was good. This can easily feed two adults. By the time me and my 2 year old son got our food, there was no forks left, just chopsticks. Middle of our meal, I walked back to get tissue and the there were forks. The girl at the front said she found some. But didn't mention to us she found some. So my two year old was eating with hands the entire time. Food is good Customer service is eh, they didn't care to help out.

Dylan M.

Yelp
I used to like this place solely for their spam musubi. It is one of their bestselling items but the couple items I've been, it was just falling apart and the spam is sliced pretty thinly and all you end up eating is rice that just falls apart. A proper spam musubi is one you can eat with your hand without making a mess. Unfortunately won't be coming back here for that anymore.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here on a Monday to get some sweet cold drinks for the family. One of the drinks was a taro smoothie. When I started sipping, I can still taste and feel the powder. It appears to have been done in haste. Maybe that's how they do things there. Let's just say I was underwhelmed of this place. I can't recommend it. There appears to be a lot of local customers. Oh well. To each their own.

Yelp
Love, love the spring rolls!! Tiny place with a big menu! Everything there is so tasty!! Lots of Japanese and Vietnamese option! Great Banh mi as well! Tasty, casual dining with a view a block from the beach and Fletcher cove!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
Great little spot with awesome food and fast, friendly service. Limited outdoor seating and convenient parking right next door. Check it out!
google avatar

Rolaine C.

Yelp
Such a cute restaurant right by the water! We tried the spam musubis, chicken katsu curry, and bulgolgi bahn mi's. Everything was super tasty and cooked to order. Definitely a great spot to pick up food to take for a picnic on the beach.
google avatar

Shemp Howard ..

Yelp
3.5 stars. The boba drink we had was good. The Banh Mi was good, but too overpowering with garlic flavor, I think from the chicken, which tasted like garlic chicken instead of lemongrass chicken. The spring rolls were good, again except for the overpowering garlic flavor on the shrimp. Spring roll shrimp are supposed to be steamed, with no spices whatsoever. This simplicity allows the flavors of the various vegetables and herbs to shine. The peanut sauce with the spring rolls was awful. The size of the Banh Mi was very generous. Both the chicken in the Banh Mi and the shrimp in the spring roll were previously cooked. Location is good, the place itself is cute, workers were friendly. Almost no seating at all, but we were able to get a tiny space for ourselves outside. For what it is, it's a good place. But you can't compare it to a good Vietnamese restaurant.
google avatar

Nell C.

Yelp
Great selection of Hawaiian foods, also ramen and spring rolls! Service was nice and ambiance feels like you're in Hawaii.
google avatar

Christie A.

Yelp
I love this place. Our go to spot when at Fletchers cove. Best part of a long day at the beach is walking over for Boba, Spam Musubi and a Bulgogi Bowl. So amazing! I definitely share how awesome this place is and as well as my kids ride their bikes there on the own for a meal. If you live in Solana, it's a must!
google avatar

Alyssa S.

Yelp
We got the spam and chicken musubi. Total was $14 for 4 musubis. The size was pretty good and my boyfriend and I both got full for basically $7. The service was good. The cashier was nice and friendly. It is literally a shack and there is only seating on the outside. The weather was very nice so waiting for your food was very nice.
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Ok first of all, the food was decent. I ordered a bowl & it was supposed to come with sweet potatoes. No Sweer potatoes at all. Kinda bummed but oh well. The biggest turn off was the actual cleanliness or lack of. I was shocked how dirty the whole place was from the outside to inside. Major turn off for me. If I just didn't walk all the way hear from cedros I would have passed and gone somewhere else. I get it's a beach shack but the owner should take pride in the aesthetics of the outside to show that they are clean in kitchen. I just hoped I didn't get food poisoning. So on that note I probably won't be coming back.

Yelp
First time here we ordered a Banh Mi sandwich, shrimp spring rolls and a lychee boba. Delicious! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great ambiance. Very beachy. Friendly service too! We already are planning a return visit for the soups. Yum, yum.

Yelp
Very cute spot just up from the beach, Spam Musubi was delicious and same goes for the fresh spring rolls! Sindi was very sweet, we had a great lunch stop here on our travels.

Yelp
The founder of Station Sushi was ready for a new project. So she renovated the building formerly occupied by The Hideaway Cafe, installed a new and modern kitchen, and opened a charming new restaurant called Sindi's Snack Shack a block from Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach. I met a friend there and we both had a great meal! I'd go back any time. The menu is very diverse. Sindi bills it as "Asian street food" and "more than just snacks - breakfast, lunch, dinner." There is lots of hearty fair on the menu (curry bowls, soups, rice bowls, noodle bowls, ramen & udon, lots of sandwiches) as well as snackier offerings (musubi, quesadilla, shave ice treats). Drinks include coffees, teas, blended drinks, and a full range of boba flavors. Any dish can be served with a couple vegan protein options. I had a Bahn Mi (Vietnamese style) sandwich with lemongrass chicken. It was large and amply stuffed, and it was delicious. Thai ice tea was similarly high quality. My friend was very happy with his rice bowl. Everything was very reasonably priced. The place is small, neat, tightly organized, tidy and clean - it feels a bit like a well-run ship's galley. The owner Sindi is friendly, affable and efficient in the kitchen. This place is her pet project and her pride of ownership is clear. All the seating is outdoors and a party of 18 would just about max out the place. Ordering take out and then picnicking over at Fletcher Cove could be a pretty great plan. You can order online and do takeout. I think she's looking to do some catering business too. I look forward to my next visit. Maybe I'll try a curry next. If I lived in the neighborhood then I'd eat here all the time. I wish Sindi all success with her latest business venture. This restaurant is a hidden gem.

Yelp
What a cute little hut (actually a historic building!).... I love love love this place for a quick pick-me-up boba or delish sandwich. So authentic, delicious, and even better, right next to the beach. (and where i live!!) My friend who visited me brought me a sandwich from here (the pork belly banh mi) and i was hooked. Service was a bit slow, but it's because only one person at the front, and one at the back. I love local hangouts, and am proud to have this one here!

Yelp
was super vegan friendly ... anything that looks like a beautiful rainbow is delicious and it was! The only thing was that the bun fell apart but the bun was so so so delicious that I didn't mind eating it up with chop sticks!
google avatar

Yelp
Finally went to Sindi's amazing Snack Shack! I can NOT wait to go back!!! Her menu has something for everyone!!!! Sindi is also the most generous kind soul and if she's there you will be treated like royalty. Parking in abundance and quick beach access at Fletchers Cove. Go everyone and try her whole menu!!! There's even a protein bowl on her menu!

Wynesha K.

Yelp
There are locals in this area that seem to be really happy with the food as I see people walking out with the spring rolls with peanut sauce which is said to be a favorite I'll have to give them a go on my next visit. As for me today the hubby and I are trying their strawberry milk tea with boba which I must say is sensational as they use real fruit and sweetness can adjusted. The boba was soft, not too chewy and not mushy at all. The prices are very affordable as seen below and I'm happy to see an establishment that values the "coming back of their visitors" with affordability. With an affordability mindset, families with large families can still enjoy great treats too. The service is super friendly and fast. The ambiance of this snack shack is one a cute beach vibe. Hours are from 10am-6pm. This hidden gem is located in the parking lot across the street from the near park. This is a definite must try when near Solana Beach or just enjoying the beach views or sunset

Julie G.

Yelp
I had a negative experience with my food here, I asked for no cilantro and had a dish that had more cilantro on it than I have seen on any meal. I tried to pick out the cilantro but it was really everywhere and made it impossible to eat (I have the cilantro = dish soap gene). I went back to ask for a refund since I was not able to eat or enjoy the food and was told that only the manager can give refunds. I gave my phone number and haven't received a call (this happened yesterday so they may still follow up with me) The woman behind the counter was really nice and definitely would have helped out if she was enabled to. I have included pictures of the receipt and meal- I've had cilantro accidentally on my food before but never to this extent. I was really excited to try the bao buns and it was such a bummer that I had to waste food. Update: never got a call back even though I was asked to leave my number so the manager could follow up

Yelp
Cute little shop very close to the ocean. Nice cute patio and seating area outside, with a peek a boo view of the beach. Came here one afternoon after a walk on the beach, wanted to get something quick and easy, this place definitely fit the bill. It's a very small takeout shop with a few outdoor seating in the middle of downtown Solana Beach. The girls that worked at the front was super nice and friendly. They had a pretty good menu with many items to choose from, Asian fusion. We ordered their most popular item on the menu which is the pork Bahn Mi. The Korean rice bowl also looked really good so we ordered that as well. The food was simple and easy and came out very quick. The price was very reasonable. It was by no means authentic, but tasted pretty good. We especially love the outdoor patio seating. Pleasant experience, we would definitely be coming back.
google avatar

Natalya S.

Yelp
Perfect place to grab a bite to eat or take it with you to the beach. We often come here for boba or a sandwich. Very conveniently located, service can be a little slow otherwise no complains. Kids love their spam sandwiches, i prefer their bowls, very filling and generous portions. I believe they have breakfast all day. Reasonably priced.
google avatar

Kimberly O.

Yelp
Love this place, great food! Definitely try the teriyaki bowls and spam musubi! If you are ordering, do plan on it being ready later than expected.
google avatar

Unju R.

Yelp
Great food and drinks. Very fairly priced but keep in mind that this is a mostly take out shack so the seating is very limited.
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
5 stars all across the board. The barn mi and bubble tea was great. Right next to beach and the people at the counter are very nice. Spam musubi and breakfast burritos are also so good, Cool decorations and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Gauravi P.

Yelp
We love it here :) The staff is so friendly and the food comes out fast! Prices are affordable and food quantity is plenty. What more can you ask for? We ordered the chicken bahn mi and garlic shrimp spring rolls. As you can see from the pictures, the food quantity was great for what you pay. The bahn mi tasted authentic and the bread choice was perfect for me and my husband (we shared food). The bread was not too crunchy and not too soft. The peanut and spicy sauce was suggested to me for the spring rolls. I got both and was very surprised at how delicious both sauces were! There a nice seating area in the front of the shack. Grab your drinks and food and sit here for a quick bite. We will be back!

Yelp
This place is literally a small shack located less than a few blocks from Fletcher Cove Beach Park. The neighboring parking lot has plenty of spaces, but they are filled most of the time because of their proximity to the ocean. The owner must have a devoted following from her local sushi restaurant because as small as this business was, there was a steady stream of customers stopping by during my visit on a weekend morning. There were a few seats on the deck in front of the structure, but most people were getting food and drinks to-go. The menu was a mix of Asian ethnicities with Vietnamese, Korean, and Taiwanese offerings. I ordered the Spam Musubi, Asian Noodle Salad (aka Bun) with garlic shrimp, and a Passion Fruit Tea with boba pearls for my meal. The two pieces of musubi were hefty and justified the $5.99 price. The shrimp was marinated with garlic, paprika, and lemon juice. Rice noodles, cilantro, basil, mint, cucumber, carrot, peanuts, fried onions, daikon, and lime made up the rest of the bowl. The preparation was as good as I have tasted at Vietnamese eateries around town. If you are on your way to the nearby beach and want some grub on the run, then I wouldn't hesitate to come here for some Asian tastiness.

Yelp
We are so happy to have a new spot in Solana Beach! Sindi's is such an amazing addition and much needed in our area. With views of the ocean it's a great place to pick up lunch and take it down to the beach. They currently don't have outdoor seating but they should soon. But honestly having a picnic at the beach is the next best thing! We spent some time talking to the owner, Sindi, and you can tell she has a passion for what she does. She is a sweetheart! We have had breakfast and lunch here and everything has been amazing! The noodle bowl is one of our favorites! They also have some incredible bahn mi sandwiches and spring rolls. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Oh and if you're a boba fan...they have it! Something that was definitely missing in Solana Beach. We will be regulars here for sure!
google avatar

Roz E.

Yelp
Remember Hideaway Cafe? Well, it is now this place. Was looking for a little snack, so perfect! We got the spam musubi. They also have asian noodles, toast, boba teas, and banh mi. You get two of the spam musubi and they are a decent portion. It was enough to satisfy my craving. They don't really have a place to sit and eat, but that's okay cuz we ended up going across the street to the beach area. You can go sit on the grass or at one of the tables and enoy the view! Besides, haven't we all been cooped up long enough? Wanna go back and try their other items as they look interesting.
google avatar

Liam K.

Yelp
Bad Thai tea boba. 2 times in a row it's been bad. This time it has a medicine/soap taste with a very watered down Thai tea taste.
google avatar

Alex D.

Yelp
Was at the park across the street and walked over. Had the beef bulgogi rice bowl, and it was very good. Lots of meat, bell peppers and mushrooms.
google avatar

Ramon C.

Yelp
Stopped by Sindi's in after working at Kiln (coworking spot next door). Parking's easy with a big lot that has 4 hour parking. The vibe is laid-back beachy shack as the name describes, with Sindi making everyone feel welcome. Ordered the loco moco. It was filling and reminds me of traditional hawaiian comfort food. Prices are super cheap $10.50 - left feeling satisfied! Definitely a solid choice for some no-fuss comfort food.

Michael K.

Yelp
The kids working there were nice, but made a very bad latte. Was just warm milk basically.

Agave F.

Yelp
Food is perfectly fine for this kind of establishment. Coffee is quite good and served HOT, vs. the ubiquitous bath water warm one usually gets from most places. The best part however is the hardworking staff. Usually teenager who have no problem with hustling. Tip high!

Matthew T.

Yelp
Incredible food and incredible staff! Definitely a must try in the area. The owner is so sweet and kind, the restaurant is kinda tucked in a parking lot so its hard to find, but definitely a diamond in the rough.
google avatar

Bacong F.

Yelp
This place is conveniently located next to the parking lot and close to Solana Beach. The food passes the Asian taste pallet. The Bao Bun comes in 3 and was a great snack!
