Preface: I’ve recommended Sindoore to many friends (even one earlier this very day) because while the service has been only mostly okay, the food IS good and the location is convenient to us - plus I try hard to support local businesses over chains.
However, our experience tonight was just horrible. The food was still good, of course, but we arrived around 1.5 hours before closing at approximately 8:30pm. We ordered 2 entrees, 2 alcoholic drinks (1 per person), and some naan (and we planned to also order dessert and maybe another drink each). It all arrived in a fair amount of time, at 9pm. No issue there. Everything was tasty as always.
However, they started vacuuming nearby before we’d even finished our meals. By around 9:15 they were loudly cleaning more things and kept looking at us pointedly as we ate, and multiple staff members came over to “check” on us, culminating with them noisily loading chairs onto tables near us 20 minutes before closing as I finished my drink.
We had mentioned wanting to order dessert to a female employee who came to our table and had asked us, but she never brought the menu, and then an older male employee brought the check. We brought up dessert again, so he brought us the dessert menu (as requested for the second time). Then he stood there and just stared at us expectantly without giving us a moment to read it, which felt really awkward and like he was continuing to rush us (but, again, there was quite some time before closing).
The loud noises, pointed stares (even from a man who I believe is the owner), and dust rising from the vacuum changed our mind, though.
They close at 10pm. We’d never stay after that as we’ve had to deal with the general public a lot and want to be courteous and considerate customers. We’re quiet and always try to tidy up after ourselves before leaving and treat everyone with respect (as they deserve it). That’s the bare minimum of decency.
Overall, a wildly trashy and disappointing experience at Sindoore. I’ll never again recommend this spot to anyone, and I’m embarrassed I ever did.
Our bill was around $72, and we still left just over a 20% tip. Almost $100 for the authentic Sindoore vacuum-cleaner dining experience, lol.
Sindoore, if you don’t want to lose customers and do want to wring more money out of the ones who WERE happily supporting your establishment, try being as respectful to them as they are to you.
