If you are looking for an upscaled, fine dining experience worthy of a Michelin Star nomination, then this dai pai dong would absolutely come as a profound disappointment. There is nothing fancy or classy about this open-air food stall operating in a sloped alleyway towered on both sides by old residential buildings. However, what this street-side eatery lacks in elegance and elaborate dish presentation, it is made up with humility, authenticity, and, most importantly, great wok hei in abundance. The simplicity and modesty of both the dai pai dong and the dishes, historically accessible to everyday people, are true Hong Kong flavours and part of Hong Kong’s collective memory that must be savoured and cherished.

Best meal I had in HK, the food and taste is top notch.. Altho the place is in the back alley, this place is really worth a try. Highly recommend the pi pi xia and crab. Fried rice also has strong wokhey umami. Don't expect much on the service or atmosphere, just come here for the food.

They were so busy even half an hour before close. So I wouldn’t blame the for ignoring some of my requests. All you got to do is to repeat multiple times then they would respond. Food itself is very very fresh. With this quality I wouldn’t complain the price. Some reviews say they were disappointed. I would say it was because they did not order the right diets. Mine was very impressive. I had no benchmark though since it was my first time in HK. But undeniably the mantis shrimp was so fresh. The shell was so hard and the meat was sweet. I was not a big fan of mantis shrimp and I realized when I tasted this one that it was because the ones I had as a kid was not very fresh… The clam was fresh and tasteful. They ran out of congee. I got rice instead. Overall I would recommend my friends to come. For their signature dishes. Especially seafood.

One last street hawker available at central Hong Kong. Nice delicious canton old style cooking. Expect long Que and back lane sitting. Worth a try for how old hongkong street “restaurant style”. Price are not cheap if comparing to restaurant. And you surely paid for restaurant price.

Ordered prawns with cashew nuts and beef with spicy bean sauce with a side of plain rice. These were all nice. I feel the portions were slightly small by Hong Kong standards and for the price.

It was good until we found a whole cockroach after we finish the whole dish of 椒鹽魷魚. Still cant full asleep at 1am cuz the scene kept repeating in my head. Not saying cannot give it a try but better to check before eating and be mentally prepared. We now just comfort us at least it is totally fried and is a complete one.

Went early (no queue during rainy day). Their service quite nice and friendly. Their chicken claypot scallions is really good. Their pork liver is very powdery and cooked with perfection. Will definitely visit again whenever i am going to Hong Kong.

Worth trying! We enjoyed the meal - ordered the salt and pepper cuttlefish, steamed prawns w garlic, stirfry chye sim and the sweet and sour pork. Everything was yummy and enjoyable in the cold weather.

Anytime I get a chance to sit in an alley on a plastic stool and eat spicy street food and drink inexpensive beer, I'm a happy guy. This place is one of the few like it left in Hong Kong, and it's worth seeking out. Yes, they got the order wrong gif the second dish we ordered, but let's face it, English is not the strong suit here. Loved it!

Food was the bomb. It was so good, but one dish (cuttle fish and squid stir fry) bombed so much that we had diarrhea and vomited for the next 36 hours. The mixed pig intestine soup was so good. In all, food was tasty, but be prepared in case of food poisoning. We had sweet and sour pork ($68 HK dollars), steam scallop ($70/piece - big, whole scallop), beef chow fun ($68 HK), pig intestine soup (~$50 forgot exact price), and our downfall we believed (36-hr diarrhea and vomit) cuttle fish/squid stir fry ($68 HK)
