"A cozy space decked with vertical gardens both inside and on the back patio, the atmosphere at Singer Hill Cafe is just as comforting as its meals. The cafe offers pastries, soups, salads, and hearty breakfast fare, such as quiches, bagel sandwiches, and scrambled eggs. Lunch options include hot or cold sandwiches. Check out the art gallery and gift shop inside the cafe, operated by an artist co-op." - Michelle DeVona, Janey Wong

This place is amazing. THE atmosphere cannot be beat, old wooden furniture and beautifully sculpted nature/vertical garden walls, ponds... I could stay here for a long time. It's a LOT bigger on the inside than it looks, and there is a gorges outdoor patio. The food is reasonably priced, and VERY GOOD quality and serving amount. As an example, I get their "OC special" (croissant with egg, cheese, & choice of meat) for $12, and it keeps me full for half a day, it feels like. Stop by, you'll thank me later.

**Adding update to reply the owner: TBH I am so glad you asked the question, so you any way deserve 5 stars :). For me the food was fine and not exceptional, although the vibe and service makes up for it. Hope this helps! Would absolutely love to visit again. :) They have ample amount of seating space. There’s a nice patio too, which is quite big and perfect to enjoy a meal outdoors. The service is very good, baristas are very friendly. Food tasted fine and so did the drinks. Would highly recommend grabbing a bite from here if in area

Google
Love the atmosphere and the service was great, but that's not what this review is about. This review is about the ham, havarti, and pear sandwich. I'm eating this right now and it's so incredibly delicious I had to stop and leave a review to express my sheer adoration for this sandwich. The cheese combined with the sweetness of the pear? Masterful.

Google
I love their coffee but their food is just “okay” Super cute place, a little outdated but lots of space to sit and visit. Staff is great and knowledgeable of their menu. I feel that I overpaid for the yogurt bowl I got. I think it was $10 (?) and was just a few small scoops with various fruits. Tasted good but not worth the price at all! My friends felt the same way about their sandwiches. Recommend the coffee for sure though! Lots of options and tasted fresh!

Google
We enjoyed our breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the vegetable and my husband got the singer, and both were very good. The sandwiches are quite large and filling. Atmosphere is really nice. Service was fast and efficient.

Google
Pretty casual and low-key atmosphere, decent food, friendly staff, but VERY slow service. We ordered our coffee and food to go (vegetarian breakfast sandwich and yogurt parfait). The coffee took about 5 min to make, but then we waited over 30 minutes for our food. We were sitting by the food prep area and the kitchen workers were moving at a leisurely pace. They had about 10 tickets consistently, each with one or two food items. The cafe didn't seem busy, but it's a spacious location so there may have been more people that it seemed. Eventually a man came on it from the back and got things hustling and moving faster. The food was okay, but nothing amazing or memorable. Also, the granola for the yogurt parfait was unfortunately not gluten free. I would probably go back for coffee, but wouldn't go back for food.

Google
Delish! Very nice and fast service. Fantastic ambience with multiple outdoor seating options. Patio is lovely with a living wall of well established plants. Food was great. We tried the quiche and the avocado toast - will definitely be back again soon.

Google
Spacious and chill cafe. Lot of seats and pretty clean. You will meet retired people and home office people both there. Food price 10% cheaper than downtown. Drip coffee small size $2.5, chess bagel $~5. Good food quality with affordable price. Will go there again.

Yelp
Good service. Quality ingredients. I was there for a causal business meeting so it wasn't my pick but I didn't regret my meal. If I need to have that type of meeting in Oregon City again I'd be fine choosing singer hill. But would I choose to eat there for my own dining enjoyment? Probably relative to Oregon city. So maybe my issue is with food in the OC rather than Singer Hill?

Terry L.

Yelp
Fine delicious homestyle food served with Singer Hill's warm, friendly service in their cozy atomsphere!

Jason A.

Yelp
Second time here and we love this place. Their drinks are good. I had a banana foster waffle, and it was amazing! Also a great ambiance inside! Great place, great service, great drinks and pastries!

Michelle G.

Yelp
I visit a lot from Florida...a year ago I would've given this place 5 stars. My mom and I went almost weekly for a month last summer for the best Turkey Cranberry sandwich we've ever had! Plenty of meat and cranberry and a delicious whipped cream cheese. Even asked what type of bread they used so we could make our own back home. We were really excited to come back this year with confidence we'd have the same experience...but unfortunately it wasn't the same at all. Spent what seemed like a fortune on some chips, a drink, and a soggy sandwich with hardly any meat. It was awful and sad:( Scared to go back now...

Luke B.

Yelp
Good coffee, pretty darned good breakfast food. Was willing to work around my dietary restrictions. Absolutely great service!

Allyson P.

Yelp
Friday clam chowder was a horrible disappointment. Little to no flavor and it contained potatoes that were so overcooked they disintegrated to mush in your mouth, not a tasty experience. The stock was extra thick and the seasoning was all but non existent. Only found a couple of very small pieces of actual clam which was a big disappointment. Overcooked, verging on burned bacon on a simple BLT sandwich started things off poorly, the bread was so dry it shredded my mouth. Great slices of tomato but that was the only thing to compliment.

Brooke C.

Yelp
Breakfast sandwiches grease soaked through the croissant. $40 for two coffees and 3 breakfast sandwiches your better off going to the hive across the street.

Ted S.

Yelp
The everything Bagel breakfast sandwiches was delicious! We met Teri who was making our sandwich and she was super friendly and funny. The ambiance was perfect for a casual breakfast with my daughter! I will go back every time I'm in the OC!

Blake O.

Yelp
Great sandwiches and coffee , bit over priced but everything is these days, service could be awesome if they did not use the pagers to tell u you coffee is ready, toooo much sound in the AM for this guy.

Libby A.

Yelp
One of my all-time favorite cafes! This is my first time visiting in several years, and everything has only gotten better. Hands down the best quiche I've ever eaten. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is airy and inviting, and I can't wait to come back!

Bonita T.

Yelp
Great place to meet friends and have a chat. Their coffee is very tasty - robust , but not bitter. Outside seating is nice

K W.

Yelp
Singer used to be a regular spot to meet friends for coffee and hang out. We went there a month ago after re-opening & we felt the prices were very high for the quality & amount of food. I don't think we'll be back, sadly.

Elisha L.

Yelp
If you're in Oregon city they always have great sandwiches/soups and what nots. Def a good breakfast/lunch spot

Traci H.

Yelp
Welcome back the community really missed you it's so nice to have a variety of food choices for breakfast we missed you while you were gone and we're very glad that you're back food was very good coffee was good atmosphere was great

Mary F.

Yelp
So glad to see them back! Always a comfortable place to drink coffe, dine and meet with friends!

Shon K.

Yelp
This is the one well ran tasty little café. The staff are efficient yet very friendly and on top of their customers needs. The food is top quality, per my experience each and every time I've been there. The ambience is very casual yet open and inviting. They have big windows in the front that they can open up to let Aaron from the outside as well as outside seating on the outside of this run of windows. They also have a private fenced in courtyard in the back it's very quaint and serene with lots of plants and fish ponds to help set the mood. Another cool part of this cafés they have an art gallery inside of it, the gallery that is full of beautiful pieces produced by local artist. All of it for sale if you find something that tickles your fancy. All in all, Singer Hill Café is a place that I just can't get to enough and I make you sad. Very enjoyable location to have a nice meal with your loved ones.

Maura D.

Yelp
Sweet Singer Hill cafe! Great coffee and tea select and savory food. Love the outdoor patio + indoor dining options. Great staff, great service!

J N.

Yelp
Glad to see they reopened! Our neighborhood needs this. Went this morning for coffee but sadly couldn't have breakfast as they have no vegan options. I hope they can add some options other than avocado toast that needs the cheese removed from it. Love the cafe space and vibe.

Kimberly L.

Yelp
The setting remains great but the food isn't nearly as good as before the pandemic. The slaw is soggy and the tuna salad was incredibly mayonnaisey. Asian chicken salad was drowning in dressing. Lighten it up!

Whitney M.

Yelp
Love SHC, especially love using it as a place to meet friends and clients. Several seating areas and the menu has a lot of options, food and beverage. There's always something for everyone and they also serve beer and wine. WiFi is available as well. Three Rivers Artist Guild also has an art section which I always check out. While I'm here I also love popping into World HeARTs Fair Trade just around the corner. Between the parking lot and street parking I've always been able to find a spot.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
I was really happy they came back but I don't know. Not sure if it's a new staff and they just gotta get their mojo back but I ordered a ham, havarti, pear sandwich and there was no spread and no pear. And the blue cheese and grape salad was smothered in dressing and made it so soggy! I took it to go because I was on lunch break and because of my time restraint I couldn't take it back. I was really disappointed. I may give it another chance in 6 months because I really want them to redeem themselves because I really liked them. So consider this review more as a learning experience for them.

Heather W.

Yelp
This is a great spot for breakfast or lunch. The coffee is good, the staff are nice and go above and beyond. I love the wall of plants and the small art shop! The food is good-to-great depending on what you order (bagel was not great, good french toast, sandwiches are great and I really like the Asian salad) I have had lovely lunch dates with friends here. I have also brought my 4-year old here for a mommy-son day and we had a great time. It's cozy and welcoming and a place I will keep coming back to.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Ordered a latte and it was cold. None of the servers acknowledged our presence. It's so disappointing as it used to be a positive atmosphere. Won't go back.

Joel S.

Yelp
Called to place an order. JT told me to place it online. Sorry to inconvenience you. Never coming back!

Jens D.

Yelp
Stumptown coffee is to bitter for me. I haven't been there in awhile and the first drink reminded me. There is so much other great stuff on the menu and you can't beat the location, service and free WiFi. I like the local history of the place and would like to see more, especially of what the location has been throughout the years. The people are always welcoming.

Leo J.

Yelp
Cute location but low quality food, pictures are deceiving! the pastries were probably bought at Fred Meyer or Safeway, there was fruit flies everywhere, the place smells old and the atmosphere was just sad, bad customer service, I asked for my store bought pastry to be hot and I picked it up and got to my table and it was cold, my wife and I are exploring different shops in the area and this is one we wouldn't go back to.They need to improve in customer service, atmosphere/ music, make the place smell like a coffee shop and not an old grandma house.

Crystal E.

Yelp
I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I'd go ALL the time for meetings. The causal vibe, the gorgeous back area, the tasty grilled cheese sandwiches, yummy mocha... I really enjoyed that part of it (those times I'd find seating). Then what was it I didn't like, you ask? Their WiFi rarely seemed to work. I often found myself in situations were I NEEDED to get work done (in-between meetings), send out e-mails, etc. BUT couldn't get a freaking connection. Lame. As much as I like to use my Verizon data plan (cough cough), to me, a cafe SHOULD provide reliable internet. For work purposes, you are better off at a Starbucks nearby. For hanging out with friends, this is the place to relax and enjoy your day.

Joan F.

Yelp
We had a wonderful brunch here on Saturday morning--the atmosphere and menu were exactly what I was hoping for. After driving past this pace for years, I'm glad we actually stopped today for a tasty meal. The line wait was uncomfortable because it cut through the tables where people were sitting and through the food delivers' path to the tables and back. There was no comfortable or predictable way for the forming line to wait. Eventually, another cashier took orders in the back room. That sped things up a bit. We found a comfortable place to sit in the middle room and got a good view of the very cool plant wall in the back room. Because it was Saturday morning, there were lots of families in the back room with infants or toddlers playing on the slightly raised stage. We found that charming and less loud than the front room with the line of awkwardness winding through the tables and the barista calling out drinks. Our sandwiches were available in brown rice wraps, so we enjoyed a smoky turkey, cranberry, cream cheese concoction with a side of the best cole slaw I've ever had. The sandwich was fine--I can do that at home, but I did learn how to easily incorporate a rice wrap into a normal looking sandwich without trying to roll the wrap, which never works for me. I liked SH's approach much better. Let's talk about that cole slaw--the thin roasted almonds centered it but the crispy, lightly dressed cabbage was the star without any nagging mayonnaise. This is not your mama's soggy cole slaw. The lunch was over-priced for two simple sandwiches, but the cole slaw and atmosphere made up for it. We'll be back during a less busy time.

Yelp
Heard about this place from client and had a long lunch so decided to try out before I forgot about it. OPP (old people probs). Worth the drive out to O.C. for this oasis. The place is large enough for big groups but has lil pockets for you to tuck away if you wish. Garage doors on one side, lots of sitting areas, patio displaying neato tables with fish fountains and walls of lush "vertical gardens". Veggie sammich was not bad and rest of food looks legit. Friendly staff, food delivered to your table but don't forget to grab your coffee at counter :) I'll be back.

Logan E.

Yelp
Updated review: after coming in a few more times my view has changed about this place. Can the wait times be long? Certainly so. I've ordered food here a few times and I can not justify the price other than the fact people are willing to pay it and they like to over staff the place. Food looks good, Instagram worthy but jus not my cup of tea. (Pun intended) Good vibe inside. White chocolate mocha was good, Oregon chai is delicious, even the pot coffee is really good. I love coming here for drinks with a girl or to read a bit, especially the variety in different types of seats. I would recommend to a friend

Cara L.

Yelp
First off - this is the cutest cafe you will ever see. Very Instagram worthy! They have a wall in the back of the cafe that is a wall full of plants and succulents. You can also go outside to the cutest area that also has its walls crawling with plants and even has the word "Cafe" in plants. It's honestly swoon worthy. The restaurant manager, Chrissy, is a sweetie. Such a nice person. Wifi isn't the best and the restaurant does recognize this. For breakfast I always get the sinful bagel sandwich. It has egg, ham, bacon, sausage etc and it's awesome! I've had the waffle and wasn't impressed but that's ok cause the bagel sandwich is amazing. I've also had lunch here but only the cold lunches. It's your typically sandwich. Nothing so different. I have not had a chance to try the hot sandwiches but that Pastrami sandwich is on my list to get next. This is a must visit place!

Ada Y.

Yelp
Stopped by the cafe after the tour at McLoughlin House on Friday morning. To be honest, I had a big breakfast right before the tour and the tour only last 30 mins. Parking not far from the cafe, I had to walk by and I saw a perfectly golden waffle on a sidewalk table. I turned around and walked right into the cafe and got myself the best waffle in my life!!!

Blake S.

Yelp
Best dirty chai latte I've had in a while!!!!! So good. Cute ambiance and rlly nice barista. Would come back to do work or get food

Sarah C.

Yelp
Excellent service and friendly atmosphere!! Glad to see they reopened. Could have better parking. Good for foot traffic.

Tony R.

Yelp
Nice little coffee shop and cafe. I stopped there with my daughter and we had fun hanging out and looking at some of the art in the gallery. The prices are a little on the high side but great otherwise

Jen K.

Yelp
This place is absolutely adorable and I wouldn't change a thing as far as the décor goes. On both visits I've sat by the garage-style windows, which are opened on a sunny day. Nice location in historic Oregon City and they serve Stumptown coffee. Alas, my overall experiences have fallen into fair to middling territory. My first visit was a weekend morning. Prime time for a place like this, and yet several menu items were not available. No quiche, no coffeecake and minimal bakery items (bagels, danish, etc.). Some of these are supplied by Marsee Bakery and not prepared on site. When I registered my surprise, the server told me the menu was a "guideline", but didn't mean that they had the items available every day. So we had to go with our third and fourth picks off the limited menu. The Singer Sizzler and John Adams breakfast wraps, yogurt parfait and a danish. The food was actually fine, not great, and served within a reasonable amount of time. Our coffee, latte and hot chocolates also fell somewhere in the middle. Second visit was for lunch. Service was a bit more leisurely, but the daily lunch special was a good deal. Vegetable wrap, chips, pickle and iced tea for $6.50. On both visits, I felt that something was a bit off. Funny how you feel disappointed when a place 'almost' has it all together.

Selena N.

Yelp
I've passed by this place several times in the way to yoga and my naturopath and never stopped in! My boyfriend stopped in here to eat one day and told me he liked it, so today we walked from Gladstone here! Worth the trip! I had no idea how spacious and cool it was in here! The coffee was indeed great too! We enjoyed the lattes and a scone, and then checked out the art and back patio! So very cool! We'll definitely be back! Great use of the space too!

Doi S.

Yelp
Soup and salad of the day was not good at all. Only enjoyed the Chai Latte. Recommended the Chai Latte for ' Latte people's. '

Luda S.

Yelp
This cafe is one of a kind. They really put an effort into every part of the experience. Food and lattes were yummy but my favorite was the outdoor seating.

T S.

Yelp
Friendly but not accurate service and limited menu. I purchased the apple turnover and the cashier asked if I wanted it warmed up. I said yes, but it arrived cold. My friend ordered a pastry and didn't want it warmed up and it arrived warm instead. The white chocolate mocha was pretty flavorless.

Joana R.

Yelp
This place was dainty and artsy which I enjoy. Staff were nice and attentive. Coffee and pastries were great. Taking out 1 star due to hours open. Wish they could extend their hours a lil longer

Aditi G.

Yelp
Great place with really good sandwiches! We were in Oregon city area and were looking for lunch options. Based on yelp suggestion, decided to give a try for this place. This is really cool cafe with plenty of seating options. We ordered veggie melt and chicken salad sandwich. Both sandwiches were flavorful. Service was fast and cafe was super clean. If you are in Oregon city area, this place is a must try! We are definitely coming back to try some coffee and pastries

Susan C.

Yelp
Amazing breakfast for breakfast and lunch. Food outstanding. Seating safe and beautiful in and out. Great servers...professional, friendly, efficient. Don't miss it!

Cassandra C.

Yelp
What a sweet little spot! On a Sunday morning there was parking right out front. Large space with a loft, garden patio and pub/table/window seating options. The patio has some really interesting tables with goldfish ponds in them. It's on a main road but the fence is high and blocks a lot of ambient noise. Stumptown cold brew on tap, nitro or not. Lots of breakfast options, pastries, sandwiches, waffles. Cards accepted. Lots of greenery in their vertical garden displays. Out on the patio, there's a sign for the Vertical Garden Institute... This seemed like a focus here. Also there's a gift shop under the loft with pretty reasonably priced photographs and local gifts from artisans. I'll be back- I'm interested to see this space through all four seasons.

Philip D.

Yelp
Great coffee cafe with good food too. Very popular meeting spot in town. Lots of seating and has a beautiful outdoor garden with seating as well.

June L.

Yelp
I really want to like Singer Hill. I've tried it a few different ways. Just for coffee in the morning (which has a story connected to it), then for breakfast (which has a story connected to it), and a few times for lunch. My latest lunch experience is what prompted me to finally write a review. And I don't even write reviews! I'm not a review writer! I hate complainers. But seriously, I either have terrible luck (which I'm not ruling out) or everyone that continues to patron this establishment is seriously just compromising on life. I ordered a Seasonal Veggie Wrap as take out, and considering it was in the middle-range price of what was available from the cold sandwiches menu I suspected it would be fairly substantial. You know, since there really isn't anything expensive on it. No meat. Not even cheese. For $8 dollars I received a large green tortilla with fewer ingredients in it than a side salad. It had a smattering of lettuce, a few leaves of spinach, maybe three or four thin strips of red onion, a couple of very thin slices of red pepper, and about four thin slices of cucumber. For eight dollars. They didn't even hardly wrap it, because if they did it would have been the thickness of a cigar. Instead, it was this floppy loose sad vegetable thing that stared up at me as if it was mocking my attempts to be a healthy eater. To make matters worse, they couldn't remember if I had specified cream cheese or hummus when I called it in (I completely understand it can be hectic working with food), but it just kind of added to the whole canon of disappointment. What was I even paying for at this point? I then had to unwrap, or more like unfold the sandwich and put the hummus on myself. I think I ate the whole thing in under four minutes. It wasn't hard. I probably consumed fewer calories than I used to chew the thing. I posted a photo of it on here. Seriously, go look at it and tell me if I'm being unreasonable. I'm done trying with this place.

Jennifer R.

Yelp
My boys and I really enjoyed our visit. The staff was amazing and the food delicious. We'll definitely be back.

Kaitlyn C.

Yelp
LOVE! so cute inside and lovely outdoor seating on the sidewalk. I had a honey latte and it was awesome. Can't wait to come back!

Drake M.

Yelp
I have only been here once but I thoroughly enjoyed this place. It has a cozy turn of the century vibe with nice furniture. It's fairly quiet. Being from Portland I marveled at how sparce the tables are. You can actually walk to a table without tripping over someone's purse and landing in another's soup. I ordered a turkey sandwich with a side of sesame slaw. The sandwich was tidy and the slaw was wonderfully flavored. They didn't drown it in sauce. The service was very cordial. The price was totally fair.

Morin E.

Yelp
Just really tired of making plans with others, getting ready, traveling to be able to come here and every time they're out of multiple things... It's a coffee shop that serves food. You'd think they'd have the food and coffee things necessary to make (drum roll) coffee and food! I will say though that any time I've ever happened to be able to get what I wanted to order it's tasted amazing.
