"While Little Italy Food Hall’s Single Fin Kitchen doesn’t serve a traditional Hawaiian poke bowl, it does serve donburi bowls, which should satisfy any fish and rice in a bowl cravings. On any given day an order might be interrupted with fisherman trotting up to deliver his or her freshest catch, which should give customers an indication of just how well they’re sourcing their fish." - Jackie Bryant

"Single Fin Kitchen will offer sashimi, Peruvian sushi, oyster shooters as well as a selection of temaki, or Japanese hand rolls filled with spicy tuna, salmon skin, and more, and rice bowls, called donburi, topped with everything from achiote-marinated seared white fish to yellowtail." - Candice Woo

So glad Chef is making his fish dishes again ! Started eating his food when he was in Little Italy and have been following him wherever he decides to cook ! If you have never tried his food before definitely missing out .

Antonio came into our work place and dropped off a sample. It was so freaking good. So fresh and full of flavor. This is some high end fish. I’d highly recommend giving them a try

Yelp
I had a couple of hand rolls for lunch. One with salmon and avocado and the other with the al pastor catch of a day with local albacore at $5 a piece. I was a little disappointed in the relative size and lack of fish they put in each hand roll. They were tasty and everything tasted fresh, but having such a small amount of fish in the rolls, really made these rolls loose their thunder, so to speak. They were meant to be lunch, but after a few bites on each one, they were gone and my hunger was far from being quelled. The staff was nice, I do remember asking the young man not to hold back on the protein, but the message was not received. Pack these babies with fish! After all, it needs to be the star!

Yelp
Single Fin Kitchen is in the new Little Italy Food Hall-first counter on the right of the main entrance. I was immediately impressed with the friendly demeanors of Chefs Quindere and Antonio. This is Japanese Donburi bowls and handrolls which differs from Hawaiian Poke Bowl(raw fish non marinated). I had the Hamachi Handroll(yellowtail, myoga, avocado) and the Single Fin Sampler(salmon, yellowtail, albacore, whitefish with rice, cucumbers, ikura veges). Both were outstanding, very fresh with alot of fish! It was hands down the best Donburi Bowl I've ever had. The ingredients were mixed artfully and perfectly for one of those dining experiences lodged in your memory banks to reflect on years later. These Chefs learned their craft from the famous masters like Nobu Matsuhisa(one of my favorite sushi restaurants in LA). The good news is the price for all that delicious food is very reasonable for tops in the world Japanese Donburi.

Yelp
I decided to visit the Little Italy Food Hall again over the weekend and got a few things to eat from a couple of the food stations. My husband wanted to try a salmon avocado hand roll from here as well. The hand roll was pretty big and tasty! The salmon was fresh and delicious. Too bad I was full from eating at our first stop that we didn't get anything else from here. I'll probably be back to try something else on their menu when I'm in Little Italy.

Yelp
During my latest visit to the Little Italy Food Hall, I ate some tacos from one of the vendors and also bought the name sake donburi from Single Fin Kitchen. For $15, the Single Fin was a base of shiso fumi rice and a selection of sashimi with an extra aloha from Executive Chef Quindere. There were also seven hand rolls (i.e. temaki) on the menu for $5 to $6 each and several appetizers (e.g. tiradito) for $4 to $5 each. It took about 10 minutes for the donburi to be prepared, but the presentation looked great. The cashier told me there was yellowtail, albacore and tuna as the fishes the chef chose for the bowl. The cost was on the high side, but as I have noted, all the vendors here have been charging premium pricing on their products. A check-in did yield a 10% discount so that was a bonus. As for the taste, I did add some ponzu sauce to the mixture as suggested. I thought the fish quality was good. I would have no problem coming back to order a small sized bowl of another donburi.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place since I saw them on Instagram and I finally got my opportunity one fine satisfy afternoon. The seafood donburi bowls looked beautifully and meticulously assembled from the photos, so this was the first place I wanted to go to. After browsing the menu for 5-10 minutes, I made my final selection of Peruvian ceviche donburi bowl. I waited anxiously by the bar while my beautiful bowl was being assembled. My buzzer rings, and I walk straight up to the counter. I was like a kid waiting to open presents on Christmas Day. I walk up, and a yellow mountain in my bowl. I stare at the finished product. I squint my eyes and wonder if it's pineapple or mango for a full minute. The main chef was at the counter but didn't bother to ask me what was wrong eve though I was staring at my bowl instead of grabbing it and leaving. I asked him if yellow stuff was mango. He confirmed yes. I pause, scan the menu furiously. Had I missed the ingredient listing on the menu where it would say mango? Another full minute passes by, and I say nothing. Finally, I had ask the chef, who was still standing there, if he can make a different bowl since I had a mango allergy. I can sense an air of frustration in his face, as he begrudgingly asks which new one I wanted. I felt like a nuisance, but the menu never included anything about mango in the bowl! Overall my experience was ruined by this incident. The second bowl was just as pretty to look at but being treated like I'm annoying due to an allergy just left a sour taste in my mouth.

Yelp
The apartment complex I live at always has different food trucks weekly. I always scan the menu prior to the night they get there to see if there are any options for me. Typically, there's not. I call Single Fin to inquire about their "From the Earth" bowl and was told it was completely Vegan. I walked up a few hours later and noticed the menu with the featured items did not list the bowl I wanted. When I asked about it, the chef asked if I was the one he spoke with. YUP! He assured me that he would do it, not a problem. The bowl did not lack in freshness whatsoever. It had some pickled veggies, some raw veggies, avocado, mango, greens, different types of seaweed, jalapeno, and fresh warm rice. I was very happy with it and super happy that he was able to accommodate those who do not eat seafood. I would absolutely eat here again!

Pedro S.

Yelp
Best donburi bowl eatery hands down. If you are a fish lover, this is a must eat in Little Italy ! You know a place is great when the chef talks about how much he loves doing what he does . If every place had his passion and standards, San Diego would be an amazing foodie mecca !!

Ava A.

Yelp
As a local to little Italy, I am happy to see some variety in our food scene. This place is great. I got the salmon bowl and they hooked it up.

Alex m.

Yelp
The Ceviche sushi rolls and Peruvian ceviche bowl are amazing. Tasty halibut white fish with mango salsa. Antonio, the head chef, was very cool and down to earth. Would highly recommend this spot for any sushi lovers or if you're in little Italy and want to stop in for a quick bite. They're located right near the fountains.

Yelp
My boyfriend loved this place when they were just a food truck. He had been looking for it for a while, and he found it inside the market. I can't remember the name of the store. There are plenty of other food options, but this location is specifically what we went for. I got the salmon 360 bowl. GOODNESS, WAS IT GOOD!!!! There were salmon eggs, salmon sashimi, deep fried salmon, and poke salmon. The rice was perfect!!!!!!! The pickles veggies were a great addition,, and I think there was egg in it, but I couldn't tell. Everything in that bowl tasted so fresh! The hibiscus water was also great. Not too sweet. Just right!!!! I really can't wait to go back again. ***Thank you Mike!! I was there about 2 weeks ago, so some of the details were hazy. I'm a little late in my review. Went again today!! We tried the Japanese fries, and my boyfriend got the 3 Tuna Donburi. I stuck with the Salmon 360 Donburi. The fries came with a wasabi like dipping sauce. YUM!!! Try the fries! Not at all salty, and flavorful.

Yelp
It's a nice change of pace to see food trucks that offer fresh, healthy options for lunch and dinner and are a fan of Donburi: basically a bowl dish consisting of some type of meat, seafood or vegetables over rice. We just happened to be at Culture Brewery one day and spotted a group of people surrounding their brightly painted food truck with orange wheels and decided to see what all the fuss was about. So glad we made a stop there! I was very impressed with the freshness of the seafood, the presentation and overall flavor of my Salmon 360 bowl. Nice, tender salmon, not sinewy in the least and equally fresh veggies. Nothing worse than great salmon on top of wilted greens...glad I don't have that issue with them. The menu seems to be of the Asian fusion variety and packed full of flavor. Even the rice has flavor which I appreciate! My co-worker loved the pickled veggies and tried to hog all of mine. Guess who almost got stabbed with a fork that day? 4 happy stars.

Elsa C.

Yelp
Great find in Poway! Tried the Salmon 360 donburi and loved the different texture of all the ingredients in the bowl. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
From my Google Review [https://goo.gl/maps/8dkLJp8BVan] Went to check out the food hall at Atlas World Market since I heard it was open, and while perusing the options I decided to take a chance with Single Fin Kitchen. Their menu caught my eye with a unique variety of donburis. It was a toss up between the Salmon 360 and Albacore 'Al Pastor' with Tyler wanting to help me decide with a game of rock, paper, scissors. However, the Chef convinced me to go with the albacore since it just became ready for serving. I opted for the shou size, but was accidentally upgraded to dai by the Chef. Even though I initially didn't want the extra rice, I savored every grain. :) The donburi was incredibly flavorful with a mix of ingredients that included pickled eggplant and cucumbers, furikake, radish slices, bonito flakes, and of course the albacore 'al pastor.' So lucky to have them just around the corner from where I work. I look forward to going back and making my way through their menu!

Yelp
this place is actually pretty good. I thought it wouldn't taste great because its in a food hall and from my past experiences, food halls don't have the greatest food and is pricey. Well, the food is pricey, but the fish tastes and smells fresh for sure. I got the salmon 360 bowl and the halibut ceviche bowl and i gotta say the ceviche one was the BEST. it was bomb. I personally don't even like raw fish or poke, (donburi) but the peruvian ceviche definitely wow'd me over. especially since im not a fan of fusion foods. the only thing i would have anything negative to say was the extremely small portions. for that amount of money, I would expect the bowl to even be a little full. The bowls are filled below the brim and what can i say: if it wasn't good, it would definitely have been a scam. CHEF ANTONIO: fill the bowls more, it would get more people to come back. don't be skimpy. most poke bowl/donburi places fill it waaaaay higher. at least add some more rice to the bottom if ur too cheap to add more toppings..

Lisa L.

Yelp
*****UPDATE**** Despite the bad experience I had with them, the owner took initiative to reach out and explained the situation. I would like to believe that I went on a really busy night and my first experience shouldn't be my last. Willing to give it another shot.

Siggy R.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place. The fish looked great & menu was promising. Ordered the salmon 360 handroll. It was a mini handroll but ok . . . the problem was it had the salmon & ikura but the shiso leaf was missing & seemingly replaced with sprouts & there was not any salmon skin. The salmon was great quality if lacking in quantity but leaving out key ingredients isn't ok. The nail on the coffin for me was gagging on a rather big pinbone. Bummer!

Sim L.

Yelp
I have to agree with the yelper below on these points: Service: the young guy helping out was helpful & nice but at the same time very eager & a bit pushy. After I finished my meal he asked me how it was so I said, "Good" & that's all I wanted to say. However, he continued to dig saying, "Good as in...?? Can you maybe give some more feedback?" So I lay it out to him and say, well it tasted fresh & presentation was nice but it wasn't a lot of food especially fish for a large bowl." The guy say's, "So maybe next time order a roll on the side too? Or get an appetizer also?" Well that's if there was a next time. Again, the presentation of the food was nice but taste-wise it was lacking and some notes like the pickled veggies and citrus overpowered tasting any of the fish. I ordered their large assorted $16 bowl btw. This was by far the most expensive, overpriced, poke bowl I've had & I was more than disappointed by the tiny slivers of fish it came with compared to the ratio of rice and filler. I mean yes, the garnishes they used were unique and pretty & a couple pieces of fish were seared adding to its unique look but overall taste was lackluster & feeling of buyer remorse was high w/ every little bite w/ all the surrounding food choices. I really think they need to re-evaluate the value of their food & either increase the amount of fish they give (after all, people grab poke bc they want to eat raw fish) or lower the prices because as gourmet, hipster, or high-class as they want to make it, it's located in a freakin small food court inside an old albertson's that's turned into an international supermarket! They might be able to get away with this in a foodie hipster area like Portland or even a farmer's market where people are accustomed to jacked up prices but c'mon, they are competing w/ other food stalls charging half the cost for double the food... The take away message is, if you are looking for good quality poke, good value, that will fill you up when you buy a large bowl without needing to buy additional food, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE! There's a much more authentic place in OB if you want raw poke, no fillers!

Nikki H.

Yelp
I was just at Octoberfest and their food truck was there and it was AMAZING! I wanted something fresh and healthy and I was so happy to see this place. I got the "al pastor" bowl?( I think that's the name) everything on it was delicious and fresh! You gotta check this place out!

Rachel Y.

Yelp
Chef Antonio made our dinner party one to remember. We found their food truck at Culture Brewing one weekend in Solana Beach and hired him to cater at our home. Our guests were blown away with the quality and creativity of the bowls they made for us. I highly recommend Single Fin for any event. Their food truck is great but if you can enjoy a night having that Chef prepare your event, do it! Single Fin.... open up a restaurant already!

Jeffrey G.

Yelp
Get ready to put your toes on the nose and hang ten because chef Quindere absolutely shreds with his donburi bowls. Don't make the mistake of walking past and thinking, "oh that's just sushi," because this is far from just sushi. The fish catches your eye as you wait in line, fetched from the docks with his own hands every morning, Chef Quindere greets you with a smile. His suggestions don't require you to think much further, because there is no way you can go wrong. For a first timer, I highly recommend the Single Fin bowl, a small taste of the chefs personal favorites of fish and ceviche. When you return again you can try a bit more of your favorites or try a hand roll, prepared on freshly toasted nori. The fun doesn't stop at the tasty food, the service is stellar as well, from the chefs suggestions to the cashier handing you food as he recalls your name, you'll be sure to make a stop at Single Fin Kitchen time and time again.

Anita P.

Yelp
Really, really happy with my experience here. It's located in a food court so it's a great place for a super casual lunch. I tried the ceviche roll which I thought was tasty but a little sweet, it could maybe use some roe or something salty to balance it out. My donburi was soo tasty and so were the shishito peppers! They were charred and almost caramelized which is how I like them. The lunch special can't be beat. The oyster shooter has great flavor as well - they line the glass with pickled plum!!! All in all, I love this place. Unfortunately I don't live in the area, otherwise this would surely be a regular lunch spot.

Karen F.

Yelp
I just discovered this delightful fresh fish spot in the new Little Italy Food Hall and I must say that the Peruvian ceviche is out of this world. It was tough to make a decision because there are so many delicious items from which to choose. This is why I'll be coming back until I've had each one. The service is impeccable and very friendly.

J G.

Yelp
Single Fin Kitchen inside Atlas World Fresh Market. Ordered the Salmon 360. Delicious and fresh. It was like a surprise of flavors with every bite, but everything was well balanced. It's obvious that their food is prepared meticulously with care. Great service with the new girl at the counter. Compliments to the chef! I scarfed my meal down! Yum!

Charlie U.

Yelp
One word: Amazing. If you like chirashi bowls, stop what you're doing, go to Single Fin and pick up the Tuna 3 donburi. Life changing. LIFE CHANGING. Why are you still reading this?!? Go!

Michael S.

Yelp
The best place to eat at the Little Itlay Food Hall. The food is outstanding and always fresh. They have vegan options and sushi that just melts in your mouth. To top it off the staff is so friendly. Love this place!!!

Emin S.

Yelp
This is now my favorite place to eat, it's in Atlas Market's food court with several other really good eateries. The presentation, quality, freshness of their dishes are exceptional. Chef is passionate about his dishes, often there preparing the food and friendly just like his staff.

Adam R.

Yelp
Staff were very friendly. My three tuna bowl was very good. Lots of variety in the bowl, with wakame, veggies, and perfectly cooked rice. Overall, great high end counter food. I'd definitely go back.

John H.

Yelp
I had the single fin bowl, it was incredible, everything was super fresh. I highly recommend!

Mary Jo T.

Yelp
I tried the chicken donbury bowl. The chicken was delicious with lots of Fresh and pickled veggies in the bowl.

Anne W.

Yelp
I have slightly mixed reviews and thoughts on this. At first glance, this bowl is absolutely beautiful! But then as you begin to start eating, you're really not that impressed... Also it was a really weird situation where I walked up to go order and there was absolutely nobody at the counter and I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. I do think that the prices are bit high for what you get and you can probably find better fish somewhere else!

Christine H.

Yelp
This place is superb! I didn't expect much to this Japanese food in a food court, but Single Fin turns out to be worthy to try. Had salmon360 and yellowtail and sashimi bowl, and every bowl is carefully designed. The eating experience is great

Fabio G.

Yelp
Exciting flavorful bowls. Quality fresh fishes :) Try it to love it! I'll see you again soon!!!

Michael A.

Yelp
I will say I debated between 3 or 4 stars. I ate here a few times recently. The food is excellent with fresh fish and good flavors. I really enjoy the hand rolls. The bowls are an excellent alternative to the various poke bowl places that are all around. The salmon donburi bowl was a nice focused meal with multiple forms of salmon. My only issue is an inconsistency in service. I live a few blocks away in little Italy and I stopped by twice in the last couple days to take some food home. On Saturday I took a few hand rolls home and they provided covers to the box and the chef politely suggested I eat the food soon to maintain the quality of the hand roll, which I appreciate. Today I went back and when I asked to take the food to go, they provided a cover to the donburi bowl, but refused to provide a cover for the hand roll, saying I am not allowed to take it to go. When I questioned they additionally stated there aren't covers for the hand rolls(which is inconsistent from me getting one days earlier). I understand the interest in maintaining the quality of their food, but I am not pleased with the inconsistency in messaging, and more so deceiving a customer. Ultimately I took the hand roll home without the cover and it was still very good when I completed the 3 block walk.

Yelp
Location: This is in the Atlas World Market Atmosphere: The food court is cool and lots of space. Very clean. Service: 5/5 The guy at the counter is really nice and friendly. A little pushy, but I can understand trying to get business is hard. Food & Drinks: Large Hamachi ~ $12 : 2/5 I was expecting some of the best "donburi"/poke I had for this price, but It was actually a little disappointing. There was not a lot of fish and not that much flavor in it. It didn't even taste as fresh as I was expecting and the food quantity was really small for a large. I was hungry after I finished and would have to eat 2 or 3 bowls just to not feel full. Also really disappointed that they have ramen, but its never there. I don't know if it ever will. Get Poke elsewhere my friends!

Betty A.

Yelp
This truck came to my job last week and the two guys inside the truck were extremely helpful- they suggested the Albacore al pastor bowl. I asked for some avocado to be added and with out hesitation or attitude about it being extra - BIG PLUS; customer service!!! Definitely recommend this truck. Fresh, fast and friendly.

Rafael P.

Yelp
Amazing!! Just had a Halibut ceviche!! Out of this world! Fish was caught this morning!! Then I had the Albacore bowl. Man if you want to try authentic Japanese food this is the place!!

Bo M.

Yelp
The food is great and the staff is very attentive. Would recommend to friends. We are from out of town and are eating our way around San Diego and enjoyed this cuisine very much.

Abigail L.

Yelp
Just ate here this afternoon for the first time. It was seriously amazing. I've tried almost every Poké place in SD and can say this place takes the cake. I had the yellowtail bowl with the GF options. I'm still thinking about it hours later. The Chef was not even annoyed by all of my allergy requests and made a beautiful bowl. Definitely coming back!

Nicole W.

Yelp
This is by far the best fresh seafood place in town. My wife and I first stopped there and was greeted by 3 amazing gentlemen who explained the happy hour and allowed us to walk around. Their personalities stuck with me and I went back and had a delicious Hamashi rice bowl. My wife normally doesn't eat fresh fish but the gentleman cooked a piece of fish so she can try the fresh caught delicacy. I would recommend this place not just for the food but for the employees who made my visit so much more enjoyable. Cheers to the guys who made my night!

Wendy F.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our food at Single Fin! My son had a Salmon 360 hand roll and we shared crevice and a Tuna 3 bowl. The fish was super fresh and the flavors were delightfully surprising and beautifully balanced. Chef Quindere was informative and meticulous, and so sweet! I wish the food wasn't in paper bowls ~ his menu and presentation deserve better!

Catelyn M.

Yelp
So bomb. I got the ceviche and the albacore fajita bowl. Both so good. I couldn't finish both so I got the ceviche to go for when I get home and want to get my grub on. Thank you Tyler and Josh for a solid recommendation!!!

Scott D.

Yelp
I saw this food truck while I was having a beer at Culture Brewing in Solana Beach. As a vegetarian, I was a bit skeptical to try a truck that specializes in raw fish. The staff was friendly and funny, so I gave it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised with the "From the Earth" Donburi Bowl that they recommended. It had delicious rice and plenty of fresh vegetables. It seems like each vegetable was either pickled, seasoned, or independently flavored. It was way better than a typical vegetarian dish of steamed veggies on rice or veggies fried in a sugar sauce. By far the most interesting part was the rice... I wish I could figure out how they seasoned it. I even looked up some sushi rice recipes, but I can't even get close. I will definitely eat here again.

Isaac C.

Yelp
Excellent fish quality, very fresh & my new favorite in little Italy! A must try & I'll be back! Well done chef!

james p.

Yelp
Thank you sweet baby Jesus! This is what north county(and the poway/rancho Bernardo ) area has needed for a very long time. Someone who has the passion for seafood and is willing to expand the horizons with your taste buds. After chatting it up with the chef, i just went ahead and said "give me whatever you feel like." He recommended getting one of the donburis, the Peruvian ceviche. He had mentioned his tuna was super fresh from this morning, so he threw in a few sashimi slices on top. The corn dusted seasoned rice was super flavorful. If you have ever eating Peruvian ceviche, that is a staple(more so the kernels) in the dish. The mahi mahi was super refreshing cooked in the lime juice. The mangos added the sweetness that you might need to go along with everything else. This dish was carefully thought out and was perfect for this night . Thank you and i will be returning with all my friends.

Ally B.

Yelp
Very fresh fish and very good combination of fish and veggies and pickled veggies. Ate there 3 times of a whole week.

Georgina K.

Yelp
This may have been the best thing I ever put in my mouth. The chef made us a single fin bowl. I highly recommend it. So many flavors, savory, sweet, spicy and sour. He managed to combine them so that every bite was delightful and when they melded the combo was out of this world. Al pastor white fish is so delicious and innovative. My flight attendant friend in from out of town was blown away by her tuna three ways bowl as far as price and taste. Chef/owner told us he bring the freshest catch in to work with and the taste proves he means what he says. I can't wait to take the hubby there on date night Friday to show him this discovered delight!

Xavier W.

Yelp
Friendly service and excellent food! I had the hamachi bowl and it was so FRESH! Next time I'm back in San Diego I'm definitely coming back here!

Erick M.

Yelp
I first heard of Single Fin when I went to a brewery in Cardiff and tried their delicious food. It's beautiful to see them growing as a company, their staff is super friendly and the fish they serve is top notch. If you are looking for a friendly environment with the freshest fish in San Diego, go try them out, I'm sure you won't be disappointed !!

Anesa E.

Yelp
The staff at Single Fin are super nice and very helpful! The chef loves what he does and provides his customers the freshest fish for the day. The pricing is fair for the quality and taste of the food. I am used to the taste and look of a poke bowl more than a donburi bowl, but it wasn't bad at all.

Alan G.

Yelp
I have tried almost everything on the menu. The Single Fin donburi, tiradito, and hamachi hand roll are my personal favorites. The quality of the fish is outstanding. The mix of flavors is delicious. It's a great value too! As a little Italy resident, I find myself craving this place almost everyday. I usually give in to those cravings and am always glad I did!
