Google
Found this small spot because it served a good variety! Just hit happy hour 3-6pm so we got fries, jalapeño poppers (frozen) but plenty. Grilled fish tacos were grilled very sweet pineapple salsa.

Brandon Esplin

Google
Great food that fit the bill. We had fish tacos, spicy Sriracha shrimp tacos, fish and chips and the California burger. We had a ton of food and ate it all! That says a lot about how great it was. Yum! I'd definitely consider this if I'm in San Diego again! We were thinking about going to just a classic old fish and chips joint but this gave us more options and could see this place being pretty busy but we were here on a Tuesday at 4pm and we had the place to ourselves.

Google
I live near this restaurant and come in often, whether for food, a glass of wine, Adolphus + Marcelle's famous Cosmo or some bacon for my pup. IMO the best menu items are the sriracha shrimp tacos, the $5 breakfast or the cobb salad. And don't pass on the french fries. But what sets this place apart in all honesty are the people working here. Over the years (and whether they like it or not haha) I have come to consider the bartenders here my friends. I recommend this local spot to anyone in MB.

Google
I ordered the fish tacos, and they were delicious. The patio is perfect, with no smoking or even vaping. If you’re looking for a great local spot with chill beach vibes, good food, and service where they really take care of you, this is the place.

Google
The aesthetic is well executed, and the staff is friendly. They call you thinks like “brother” or “my man” or “sweetie”. I know this can be cringe, but it felt kind and warm. The fun house mirror makes it worth the trip in my mind, as modern society is sorely lacking in fun house mirrors. #facts #spittingfactsatya I went 2 nights in a row. The first night music was all surfy indie rock songs, that have the attitude of a tattooed man who knows a trumpet player. It really worked! And I thought it would be the same the second night. But No! The second night the music was a who’s-who of indie rock gems of 2005-2007. I was a big hipster teen at that time, and that was right up my alley. I got to tell my table “this is “I’m not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance” by indie outfit Black Kids, and they thought I was cool and knowledgeable. Big win for us Oink and what.cd blog-reading outlaws of my generation. The food was good. Edit: I forgot that there was one thing I didn’t like! On one of the many tvs they were showing DR Ho’s motionciser - a foot massager that claims to be exercise. That infomercial played for an entire hour we were there. It was very strange choice. Other TVs had baseball games, drone shots of pretty shorelines, but the one I was facing has old people vibrating their feet and then giving testimonials about how they can now walk to the park. It was our entire time. My wife wanted to buy this stupid foot massager, and I had to explain why we couldn’t.

Google
Went with grandchildren for a burger and based on reviews this place looked pretty decent. However, a little pricey and burgers were remarkably small on a regular size bun, so mostly bun; even my 10 year old granddaughter said, “Is this a joke?!”. French fries were also a very small portion. Service was great though and probably would be fun place to get drinks

Google
We ate here three times in the last week with different servers each time. All were extremely friendly and helpful. The Sriracha Shrimp Tacos are excellent and the fries are really hard to to stop eating. Definitely recommended.

Google
We had a late afternoon snack of nachos with pork. It was large and enough to share for 4 people! The meat was tender, chips were housemade and everything was tasty! The tables are next to the hotel's dock and by the bay. The vibe was relaxed and fun with music playing in the background. That bar was very lively.

Yelp
5 stars for the real corn tortillas alone! You can actually see the masked corn kernels in their tortillas--they get them from Tiajuana, which isn't far, and this alone separates this great taco eatery from all of the others! This was the best fish taco place we found while we were in San Diego. Talkative manager as well--we appreciated the hospitality AND th

Yelp
Portion sizes are quite large. Service is fast and friendly. Table was painfully uncomfortable. There's a metal strip around the perimeter of the table that makes it impossible to lean your arm on the table without doing damage. Fish and chips were not crispy. The breading was soft and the whole thing fell apart when you tried to pick it up. French fries were crispy. Not a tartar sauce fan but their version of tartar sauce wasn't bad. No cocktail sauce. Coke glass was always full. Ceviche was tasty although a little sweeter than I like. Not complaining. I'd order it again. Restaurant was reasonably clean, as was the bathroom. Parking is not cheap on this street. The little public parking lot costs over $16 for 2 hours.

Yelp
Forgettable food, bare-minimum service, cool interior but I would not recommend. PSA 4% service charge applied to all orders. Don't waste your time or money on Single Fin. Given the name, I was expecting to have some good fish. Though filling, the battered fish tacos (2) and sriracha shrimp tacos (2) a house favorite were lacking in flavor. The tacos were 3/4 coleslaw and 1/4 meat. Very disappointing. The fries were basic, and dosed in too much salt. Maybe the burgers are better or maybe they just expect you to be 3 drinks in before enjoying their food. The waitress/hostess could have cared less about us. Maybe since we didn't order any drinks? It was basically DIY - seat yourself, get your own menu, come up to the counter to order.... Definitely kicking myself for going here and not somewhere else.

Yelp
The food was tasty, however for the size/portion size, you should have lower prices. Our son ate an entire adult portion fish and chips and still put away ice cream after (our son is 5 years old). For almost 20$, my husband put away the tacos easy and we still had to go grab more food because the small portions. Tasty, but wouldn't be a repeat or a must stop unfortunately

Yelp
Came to Fin's starving and on a mission for fish tacos. Parking was easy, with a paid public lot just a few feet away. Ambience during Christmas season is very charming. The National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation theme is fun and festive, with the entire bar decked out to the nines in vibrant Christmas decor. They have a decent amount of seating both inside and out. The staff is super friendly, hospitable, and easy to talk to. I'd ordered grilled fish tacos and a makeshift mock tail. Thanks to the help of one of the bartenders helping the other with the order, I was able to get a Beachside Bali minus the liquor. Grilled fish tacos were incredibly overpriced and flavorless at $16 for (2), while the mocktail was essentially an overpriced lemonade with no glam. On the mocktail, that's on me, as that's something off menu and an abnormal request, so I should've known better. My cousin's fish and chips were pretty delicious however; crisp, piping hot, with great texture. If it weren't for the friendly service, overall vibes, great music, and a taste of those fish & chips, I'd honestly be pretty bummed out since my meal wasn't it.

Yelp
Single Fin Surf Grill in San Diego, California, delivers an exceptional dining experience, especially if you're a fan of flavor-packed delights. The sriracha shrimp tacos were a highlight - perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. If you find yourself anywhere near this spot and hungry, don't miss the chance to give it a try - it's truly awesome. The friendly staff added a personal touch to the visit, engaging in conversation about my hometown despite being 2000 miles away. This warmth, coupled with the delicious food, made the experience memorable. Located close to the beach, Single Fin Surf Grill is not just a meal; it's a delightful culinary journey that captures the essence of San Diego's vibrant food scene.

Yelp
**TOURIST BAE-CATION REVIEW** Drinks - 2/5 chocolate old fashion seemed unique but the flavor was just Service - 4/5 Ambiance - Basic surf dive bar, only tv entertainment Overall - Working our way down the ave. and stopped here and there was a bartender and "barmaid or tender/trainiee/worker" The head bartender instructed patrons to fell free to seat themselves and look at the menu that's posted not given to them and when they are ready come to the bar to order. I just felt like the other worker can pick up the load and provide service by taking orders. I was already sitting at the bar. staff were helpful with suggestions for our night life plans and just giving us a lil lay of the land. cool local spot though and menu selection is definitely intriguing. HAPPY DRINKING!!!

Yelp
Absolutely love this place! Everyone is so cool and the food is amazing! Definitely get the breakfast sando or the Cobb salad. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Delicious food, great drinks, wonderful service and reasonable prices. Cool decor too. Can't wait to go again.

Yelp
I highly recommend going anyyyywhere else. The bartender during the day on memorial was so awful. We had to flag her down for every single thing we needed, and it seemed like so did every other guest since she was ignoring everyone. The guy that was working was so drunk he was slurring his words. It's not worth the hassle. We left To order food and drinks somewhere else. Even the tourist bars closer to the beach are much better. Don't waste your time.

Yelp
This place has soul. The beers are cold, the tacos delicious, and it's served with a smile. What really endeared us to Single Fin is how they do a free Thanksgiving dinner each year (with the purchase of a beverage.) as a local, you can tell they care.

Matt J.

Yelp
Killer breakfast food, great prices, awesome coffee and coffee cocktails. Stayed for a flight of cocktails we liked it so much. Owner was also super chill and personable, would highly recommend coming here.

Yelp
Great ambiance, service, food and drinks. Battered Fish Tacos are A1. Liked the festive decor and that they're dog friendly!

Yelp
My friends and I were staying nearby so we walked down here one Saturday night to grab a drink and fish tacos. You order at the bar and then grab a seat and they serve you when it's ready. The bartender and server were super friendly and made you feel welcome. The music was hella loud and it wasn't really late enough to turn up yet so that was kind of the only thing I didn't like. Everyone was there to eat and talk (except maybe the bartender who was ready to rage I guess LOL). I didn't say anything because I'm a tourist in a local bar and just figured the most polite thing to do was deal with it. After about 45 minutes they lowered the volume and changed the station to something that fit the vibes perfectly. Ahhh. Anway, most importantly, food was delicious and we had a great time not only talking together but having friendly conversations with pretty much everyone in there.

Yelp
We love single fin! Visit annually if not more. Sriracha shrimp tacos and the cobb salad combined with great beer!

Yelp
Great beer lineup Great food Super laid back spot + the $3 breakfast deal is so worth it. Also, the bartender, Tony Law is a freakin G!

Yelp
After an afternoon of watching the girls paddle boarding with some friends we all decided to check out the local eateries. Mission Blvd is not part of my usual Venn diagram of SD haunts so I really wasn't sure what to expect at Single Fin. What I found was a mostly pleasurable experience. We arrived just before 6p for the Tuesday HH specials. Literally there only two patrons sitting in the patio. Once 6p hit it was interesting to watch the regulars drop in. The bartender who also served as cashier and server knew people by name and immediately struck up conversations yet still managed to pull his triple duty without pause. The place was so relaxed. TVs we're on mute, no loud music, and no wasted college kids. Just drink, eat, and talk story. =) Tuesday HH includes fish tacos. They were pretty good sized. The breading was crisp but a tad fried too long and I feel that the oil may have needed changing as there was a bit of a greasy aftertaste. Both kids went adventurous on me and ordered the signature nasi goreng, an Indonesian fried rice. One got shrimp, the other chicken. They liked the rice which came with a sunny side egg to mix into. No complaints on the proteins either. I did notice that they didn't finish the side of pork rinds. I took a bite and didn't feel too inspired either. Several beers on tap along with house cocktails. I wish I had the same 5-star experience. While I truly enjoyed the laid back vibe I wish the food had been on par. Bad timing? I'd stop in for drinks for sure if I were in the area.

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday night around 7:30 as we were waiting for a table at Cori Trattoria. Place was just starting to get busy. Reasonably priced drinks and service was friendly and fast. Order the Paloma with extra tajin. Sooo good. Great local beer selection. Walked by after dinner around 11:00 and place was jumping with busy crowd. Looked so fun but we opted to skip and head back to our place. Lol.

Yelp
Once again I have to say what a chill place this is! Got my fish and chips . Dog friendly. And the house dressing for a salad is excellent. Comes with a hint of mint.

Yelp
Lucky us we arrived on Thursday and had happy hour drinks, which were not disappointing not to mention that our kids eat for free; which they were very generous with their portions!! we ordered the batter, fish tacos, and grilled fish tacos which were not bad. We had a good time and we are happy with the service & food. I'll definitely come back when we are in the area. Thanks Tony & George

Yelp
One of the better places in PB! Friendly staff, $5 pale ales during padres games and a pretty extensive menu of fish tacos and burritos. I didn't LOVE the fish tacos only because I felt like they were missing salt or something. Overall I felt like they used good quality ingredients and I would stop in again!!
google avatar

Caroline M.

Yelp
10/10. Lay my life down for this restaurant. The siracha shrimp tacos are impeccable and the spicy mango margarita has to be the best one in SD. I bring my family and all friends here. Great service, comfortable seating. Had all the games on too!
google avatar

Marsha S.

Yelp
Insanely good fish tacos! This place was near our Airbnb so we headed over for dinner one evening. The fish tacos were out of this world delicious and Tony provided excellent service from behind the bar. Mom liked her salad, too! We came back the next morning for breakfast and were not disappointed!! For $3, you can get eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast!!!! Whaaaat? We each got the breakfast special and ordered the corn flake French toast to share. Everything was great! Can I just say that hat Tony is amazing?!? Mom is super short and walks with a cane so can't do barstools or high top tables. Instead of having us wait on a booth to open up, Tony bought a drink for a solo patron and asked him to move to the bar so we could have the booth. Will definitely go out of our way to eat here again!!! Cheers!

Yelp
I'm rating this based on the perspective of someone that was looking for a family friendly eatery that was open late at night as we arrived in town and were having a hard time finding a place to eat that wasn't a party spot in the area. According to Yelp this place was listed as kid friendly, I called to see if they are and the employee confirmed that they have a kids menu. While they were nice and did have a kids menu, this place is really more of a bar and it's very loud and people were drinking and it smelled to the heavens of alcohol. Which is all fine for someone looking for a night out but not great with a toddler in tow. This part isn't their fault of course, I'm just addressing this for anyone going off the info listing it as kid friendly. We ordered the fish tacos and they were not flavorful at all. It is white fish which has a mild flavor but the breading had zero seasoning or taste. We were hoping the lime crema it came with would help but it really didn't. Chips and salsa were good and the employees were very nice though. Margaritas were okay.

Kathie H.

Yelp
The fish tacos, siracha shrimp tacos and fish and chips were all delicious. Service was great and the man behind the bar was so nice, telling us about local fun things to do with kids. Highly recommend if your ever in Mission Beach area!

Mady N.

Yelp
I went here with my friends to do their bottomless mimosas. Everything was fine for the most part besides pretty slow service, but then my friend was halfway into her breakfast sandwich and a full BUG was cooked into the sandwich.... We had a group of about 10 and genuinely none of us could touch our food after that. They comped my friends meal but never brought a replacement and the rest of us all had to pay regular full price for everything else and got no sort of like apology or anything, which i guess wasn't 100% necessary but like that was so disgusting I felt like we all had our breakfast ruined after that.
google avatar

Serah Y.

Yelp
food 4.5/5 setting + service 5/5 $16 bottomless mimosas (until 2pm on the weekends). great outdoor seating area facing the main street. food was solid, yummy.
google avatar

Ryan F.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Everyone that works there are down to earth and provide an inviting experience with great service. Get the siracha shrimp tacos, you won't be disappointed. My fam and I went back twice on vacation to get them again. The fish and chips are incredible too. Love this place and the vibe there
google avatar

Thomas J.

Yelp
Service was very selectively nice/communicable to only specific customers. Food took forever for two items with low # of customers in the building. Food overall was very abysmal. I had the fish and chips, batter was raw and tasteless, fish was tasting like it's from an old freezer. My gf had the breakfast sandwich and it was the most basic bread and meat combo with no flavor. For the price the food was TERRIBLE.........

Matt G.

Yelp
The Sriracha shrimp tacos are probably the greatest thing I've ever eaten. On vacation and I ate them for lunch like four days in a row.
google avatar

Yelp
Have you ever just wandered into a bar and the bartender that day was one of the best ever? We've wandered into Single Fin Surf Grill twice. Both times the bartender on duty was one of the best ever. The first time was about a year ago with Adolphus. This time it was Teddy. We stopped in with some friends who were visiting from out of town. They remembered Single Fin from their visit a year ago when we met Adolphus and wanted to stop in again. That's what we did. I ordered a Pacifico, while my buddy had a bourbon, his wife had a pint of Fat Tire and Becky ordered the Bondi Bloody Mary. Becky went in knowing that it contained cucumber vodka, but she ordered it anyway. It turned out to be way too cucumbery for her. She just couldn't drink it. I took it back to Teddy with my apologies. I assured him it was not of his doing, it was the cucumber vodka. He told me he'd take it off the bill. I told him not to. It wasn't his fault. Well, Teddy took it off of the bill anyway. It wasn't just that though. Teddy was just so affable and funny too. Definitely a cool dude to chit chat with. The entire vibe of a bar starts behind it and permeates throughout the rest of the bar. The vibe created at Single Fin was inviting and fun, thanks in no small part to Teddy. We've got to get to Single Fin more often!

Yelp
Awesome place to go! Thank you Tony! The breakfast dishes were amazing! And the drinks were more than fabulous. We were so happy to get to know you and so impressed with your fantastic enthusiasm at running your place and making everyone feel at home!
google avatar

Laiza L.

Yelp
Poor service. Came on a Sunday around 7:55 pm. The bartender told me, "you can sit at a booth if you'll like, I don't know if they are clean or not. Once you're ready to order come to the bar and I'll take your order but food will not be out until a little over an hour from now. It's your choice." I will not be coming here again.
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
Go get a fish taco - epicly delicious. Tacos are huge so make sure youre hungry. The place feels more like a bar than restaurant which I like but may not be the ambiance everyone wants. Enjoy!
google avatar

Kedar W.

Yelp
Yelpers are absolutely right. Really good tacos & beers. Between grilled & beer battered, I liked beer battered fish tacos. Surprisingly chicken finger was so yummy, my son loved it. Bartender(sorry forgot his name) was awesome, Great San Diego vibes.
google avatar

JD K.

Yelp
Group of four; we had just arrived to town around 5pm and were ready to eat. Got to Fin and not too many people so was concerned about what to expect. OUTSTANDING experience though. Between us we had fish and chips and chicken tenders. All was served super hot which was great; and taste was outstanding. Local brews on tap as well. Had a few TVs on to view sports and quite enough to have normal volume conversations without yelling. Would definitely revisit

Yelp
Very chill little place right on the boulevard through mission beach. We wanted just an easy dinner, and this was perfect. We just got fried food mostly but it was good and not too greasy, but still very fresh. Only a couple employees there but they were rockstars and were very helpful and holding it down!
google avatar

Michelle L.

Yelp
This review is in regards to their service/hours. Opening time listed is not accurate. My family and I waited for about 2.5 hours with plans to eat here for a late lunch at 3:30. Family of 5 with 2 little ones walked 0.6 miles to the restaurant. Opening time was listed as 3:30pm, we arrived at 3:40pm and the door was closed. There were gentlemen drinking at the bar. One of them finally got up and opened the door. Another man in the back said they wouldn't be open until 4pm. By then my kids were grumpy, tired, and starving. Disappointed in the inaccuracy of their hours.

Yelp
Amazing , sweet and very attentive bartender/server. He's an African American man and he was soooo nice! He did all the work from making drinks to serving food and cleaning around. Such a hardworking guy! Amazing food as well! We went here for happy hour so we got the discounted tacos which were AMAZING!!!!!!! We love it here & it was so close from our Airbnb so that's even better! Drinks were delicious, food was wonderful and service was immaculate! Over all this place deserves more than 5 stars! Thanks!

Chad W.

Yelp
Service was good, but the food was disappointing. The fish and chips were soggy and had too much batter.

Brad G.

Yelp
If fully staffed they could do great. I'm at the bar 10 people waiting for drinks 630pm on a Wednesday. Everyone wants to give them money lol. But the bartender is in the back helping the single cook. He seems great but really stressed out. Idk I want to like this place but one more employee would go SO FAR. I literally would have ordered $40 in d

Amazing food, amazing service, amazing ambiance. FINALLY a new, killer locals spot in Mission Beach.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get fish tacos in San Diego! Single Fin has my husband and I coming back time and time again. If you're looking for a place with great food and drinks and a fun and unique local vibe, I highly recommend Single Fin!

Yelp
Our go to EVERY single time we visit Mission/Pacific Beach in San Diego! The staff here are amazing, this particular visit we had the pleasure of meeting Teddy! He was a one man show, and rocked it! The atmosphere is always pleasant, never too busy, food and drinks always great! We can't wait to return, it's our 'Cheers'!

Angela S.

Yelp
The best dive/surf bar in mission! The food is good and the drinks are even better! Only con is they don't have any gluten free options on the menu

Melanie M.

Yelp
Love this local little restaurant and bar! It's counter service when it's busy and the staff are all efficient and welcoming! The food is good, I'm a big fan of the salads and chicken bites. It's a cute small beachy place with a patio.. and AC in the summer! Absolutely recommend for lunch or a quick dinner
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
Went here on a galentines adventure and sat down in the outdoor area. Okay, first, phenomenal customer service from Adolfis!!!!! Adolfis if you're reading this, you are the sh*t. We were joking around and asked for one onion ring and he brought it out. Additionally, we did order a basket of onion rings and chicken tenders (yum!). It was such a cool chill vibe and we were so glad that Adolfis was our server. We were acting wild but they greeted us and cared for us. The best part was that Adolfis remembered our names.

Yelp
We got into town later so we didn't want to travel anymore. It was walking distance from our house. Great service & good food. I had the fish tacos which didn't disappoint & had a spicy kick to them too. The burger looked really good but didn't get a chance to try it bc my husband ate it all! There were 6 of us & no one complained. The bartender was so nice. He recommended several things for us to do & places to eat as well. We would definitely return if we get back to Mission Beach.

Yelp
The fish and chips were absolutely DELICIOUS! Some of the best I have ever had! The service is great and the dude at the bar was super cool. It's a cute little spot on the main drag and it is definitely a place you should stop by after a day at Belmont Shores! THANK YOU!
