Single Fin Thai-Sushi Restaurant

Our favorite restaurant in Nags Head! The menu has so many options for gluten free/dairy free and so many tasty options for my allergy-free husband. This restaurant has it all - absolutely delicious, flavorful, allergy/diet preference food and excellent servers! Our waitress was patient and friendly, provided great recommendations and substitutions. Our food came out quickly and was so well prepared. Portions are satisfying without being too much. I got the veggie fresh rolls with miso soup and my husband has the pork dumplings and general tso chicken. There’s so many more dishes we want to try and we will definitely be back. The ambiance is fun and casual but clean and sophisticated. The decor is tasteful. It’s a great date night or afternoon lunch.

Food was awesome. Agna was our server and she was very attentive and fast. Gave great recommendations too! I will be a repeat customer for sure. Great selection and the flavor profiles reminded us of being in Thailand. Very authentic tasting. Go here! Edit:I've been back 2 more times during my stay and tried their red and green curry. Absolutely amazing. Sushi is as fresh as it can be. I haven't enjoyed a place this much in a very long time. I live 8 hours away and would honestly come back just to eat here. Thanks for awesomeness!

My first time visiting and was impressed by the menu options from various cuisines. But I had heard such good things about the sushi, that I had to go with that this time. The fish was very fresh and perfectly prepared with a nice presentation. The service was prompt and very friendly, and the restaurant itself was very nice. I will definitely stop by here every time I am in town.

Ate here about a year ago. The sushi was hands down the worst I have ever had. The rice was over cooked and mushy. It was beautiful but couldn’t even finish it. The crab fried rice was delicious. I think they are trying to do too much. If you are going to do sushi do it right or don’t do it at all. Will be back for the crab fried rice and will retry sushi to see if it was a one off. Will say the fish was good but very expensive sushi

I travel to OBX often and have never been so impressed with a restaurant. All the employees were kind and quick. Our waitress, Agne, was amazing. Everything we ordered was flavorful and beautifully plated. My husband and I were both feeling beat from traveling and the food instantly made us feel better. The experience brought us back to life like Jesus on the third day. I cannot recommend this place enough.

I don’t recall the last time I said “yum” so many times during a meal! Food was well made, and the sushi selection was unique, not the cookie cutter most places have though they do also have those options. My husband’s sesame chicken was also very mindfully made, and presented well. He said he felt his cost was well justified at this location compared to other places on the OBX. Service was fast, engaging, and delightful. It was also clear that the women who work there enjoy their jobs and the people who employ them, which means a great deal to me as well. Definitely a staple for our future visits 🙏🏻

oh my bussin sushi. this was absolutely amazing, and the service was great! i love how the vibe in the place is very homey. although a little pricey the food was really good. like and follow me for good reviews unlike dan deibler.

Came here on vacation. Our waitress was very kind and super sweet, service was great, her name was Livia (you’re amazing thank you so much). We got sushi, miso soup, pho, and chicken tenders for the kid! Everything tasted phenomenal and definitely worth it. All the food is super flavorful and would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in Nags Head. Worth the stop.

The exterior is deceiving as it's located in a small strip mall. Don't let it fool you! The atmosphere was excellent! Service was sufficient. The food is the star here. It will keep us coming back each trip. The sushi is fresh and the Thai options are delicious. I highly recommend you check them out.

Food: super fresh sashimi with generous portions! The scallop sashimi was fresh, sweet and tender. Their wasabi indeed tasted fresh as the other reviewers said. Their blistered shishito peppers with spicy aioli was also super yummy so much so we ordered it twice. Hubby had their pad thai at medium spice level and it was FIERY spicy. And he's a bit of a spice head so err on the side of caution ;) Service: friendly and attentive Ambiance: typical Asian sushi place, no frills, casual; clean restroom area

We had a wonderful dinner. The eggplant appetizer was my favorite. My sister ordered beef pad Thai and I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp. Everything was so delicious and the service was wonderful. It's a very cozy restaurant.

Amazing food, service and ambiance. Best sushi I've ever had. Came back a second night and had Thai food, which is also spectacular. Highly recommend . And don't forget the sake.

Another year and another amazing dinner here. Some of the best crab rangoon I've had. My sushi was tasty and fresh. My husband enjoyed his drunken noodle as well. The cocktails were an added bonus. Service is always wonderful here. Very friendly and eager to provide recommendations. We went for an early dinner on a Monday so there were only a few tables with people at them. By the time we were leaving around 6/6:30 it was getting very busy. This is definitely a popular spot for both dining in and to go orders.

We visited OBX over the summer and placed an order here for pick up. We loved everything we ordered! The fish was served in nice thick pieces and was so fresh. We definitely plan on returning to eat here again. We ordered: Steamed Pork Dumpling - served with a soy ginger sauce Tuna Lover Roll: Spicy tuna, avocado and tempura flake and topped with Fresh tuna, spicy mayo, eel sauce and tobiko Rainbow Spider Roll: soft shell crab, crab, cucumber, avocado and topped with tuna, salmon, yellowtail with black tobiko and green tobiko and eel sauce Aloha Roll: salmon, imitation crab, cucumber, tuna and Topped with steamed shrimp, avocado, red tobiko, green tobiko Tuna Avocado Roll Spicy Salmon Roll

This place was packed, and definitely a popular place. While a welcome respite from American seafood found at every other restaurant in the outer banks, the experience was just OK. We were a small party so wait time was not bad, about 10 minutes) during peak dining time. Service was acceptable. Food was just OK. We were there a week ago, and already I actually don't remember too much about the food. If it weren't for the pics I took, I'd say not very memorable. We ordered Pad Thai which was a bit on the salty and sweet side. The sauteed thai basil chicken had zero thai basil in it. The drunken noodles were probably the best of the 3 things ordered. Yea, that's it.

Nice atmosphere. Food was fresh. I had the spicy Pad Thai. Spice level was perfect. The daily specials all looked good.

So the service was Amazeballs, thank you Keeley! Drink choices were plentiful. My wife had the plum wine and I had the Kudo Mono, wowzers! We started with the crab rangoon and crispy spring rolls, amazing! Also shared the General Tao's, and it was fantastic. Originally thought it would be like General Tsao's, but was not. It was like a sweet n sour chicken..it was delicious. We had california rolls and avocado tuna roll....YUM! Thank You to Keeley for amazing service!

This is our new sushi place in the outer banks. Super clean and the service is top notch. Sushi is fresh and nice and the presentation is a plus.

The papaya salad and chicken drunken noodles were amazing! It was pretty big portion size too! The papaya salad was so delicious, I just had to order another one to-go!

Ill start with the good, AMAZING service. So polite and quick, ambiance was nice, low lighting. Now, the "bad". My Tom Kha soup had a little too much fish sauce. Thats all I could taste, couldnt taste the coconut or anything else. Calamari was small with a lot of seasoning, dumplings were good. I was underwhelmed by my sushi roll. Not much flavor, I have definitely had better. Not much sushi for the price. If you are very familiar with thai food, really do your research. There are better places.

My son loves sushi and this place did not disappoint! He had the volcano roll and was pleased. I had the OBX roll and it was great! My mom ordered the avocado salad and the sesame dressing was SO good. If you're in the mood for sushi, don't let the curb appeal deter you. It's understated outside, but the inside is lovely. Our waitress was very kind and she even showed my kiddos some of the photos and such of the tuna they catch from the market. If we were staying longer, I'd come back!

So happy we found this place! My husband and I always look for new sushi places to experience and this was a nice treat in the Outer Banks! We came right before the dinner rush so it wasn't too crowded and we were able to get seated and served in a timely manner. Would definitely come back and recommend this place for anyone looking for good sushi at the beach!

This place has the best Thai food I have food in North Carolina, hands down! Their sushi is pretty bomb too. I absolutely recommend the drunken noodles, the dumplings, the in roll and single fin roll. The food was so good I am still drooling anytime I think of it!! Can't wait for Niue next visit to OBX to eat more more more!

We ate at Single Fin Thai Sushi a couple of times via takeout during 2020. However, in September of 2022, we finally got to come in and sit down to enjoy dinner. They get packed easily and they don't take reservations. I promise it is worth the wait though. This is the best sushi restaurant in the Outer Banks. Also, just a really good sushi spot in general. This place serves more of an Asian fusion. The portions were huge. Every single dish came out on time and to perfect delicious quality. The service was great even while they were busy. It is not tiny or big inside. There are a good amount of seats and even a bar. When in OBX this is a must-eat at the spot.

We're vegetarians, so when the menu says many vegetarian options we decided to try it. We are very pleased. The Phad Thai was excellent, the veggie fried rice was exceptional, the red curry was very, very good, and the veggie rolls were excellent. My daughter, who doesn't like the taste of seaweed, are half of my veggie rolls! The server was very nice, helpful with local food and ice cream recommendations. The ambience is OK. It's prefer the music to be quieter, but it was not bad.

We sat at the bar during prime dinner time and had the most enjoyable time with our bartender! The food was excellent and came out in perfect sequence (Beef Waterfall as an appetizer was amazing), the sushi and curry dishes were prepared excellent! Would come back here once a week if I lived in the area! Definitely a go to for a nice casual/semi-fancy dining experience with great high quality food!

Our table got the Beef Cashew Nut dinner, the Sashimi dinner, the Hotty Hotty roll and Wasabi roll. Our ranking comes from a few different factors including the food flavor, service, and prices. First, coming from the NYC area, we thought the pricing here was a little high given the quality of the dishes. The Beef Cashew dinner had fresh veggies and a good amount of meat, but maybe not worth $19. The sashimi dish was pretty good (we asked for specific fish and they were nice enough to accommodate), but it was served on ice. Sashimi is never served ice cold, as the coldness from the ice does not allow you to fully appreciate the cut of fish. Perhaps this was done as a food safety precaution but it really ruined the experience of enjoying the fish. The two rolls we got were the best part (great balance of flavors, salty and sweet melody was spot on), but again $18/$19 for these rolls were a bit high. (For reference, this is similar price I would pay in Manhattan). The service here was okay. We were served food without utensils, no personal plates, and had to ask frequently for water. Nothing against the hostess or servers themselves, they were quite nice, just part of the review. Overall, this restaurant is totally fine if your okay with paying tourist prices. The rolls were very good, and the sashimi was good, just a combo of the higher prices and mid service didn't match up to the hype.

What??? I am tough on giving 5 stars, but if I could, I would give 6. They were fairly busy,yet they seated us in just a couple of minutes. There were 7 of us, and the waitress was awesome. She was quick and efficient and stayed on top of everything. We ordered 4 different apps, a couple of salads, 4 sushi rolls, and four entrees. Everything was absolutely amazing. I was truly impressed. I have always gotten food to go from them. But I will take time in the future and sit down inside and enjoy my meal. We will surely be back.

We had Cocktails/Dinner last night & sat at the Bar...Lynette, the Bartender, was awesome and the food and drinks were great!:-) For reference, we had the Pork Dumplings, Miso Soup, Volcano Roll, and Chicken Pad Thai and highly recommend every dish-lots of leftovers too!:-) Thanks for great service and a nice dining experience!

Party of 2 for a quick dinner in a Wednesday at 5. Casual and unassuming, it sits right next to Jersey Mike's in the first strip mall you come to in Nags Head. Nice open space with plenty of seating, and room to move table around for larger parties. Our server was fantastic, although I don't remember her name (tall, young blonde gal)! We had sodas, but I'm pretty sure I saw a full bar. Food was excellent! Try the Golden Tofo! My friend literally said, "Yuk", when I ordered it, but it looked so inviting, she tried it and loved it! Yessss - another tofu convert!! The Tofu came with a chili dipping sauce that was fresh and "alive", spicy but not 5-alarm, and definitely not from a jar! My friend LoVED the Pho! I'm a ramen lover and generally am disappointed in Pho because to me it's bland before adding all kinds of stuff to get flavor. But this arrived in a beautiful broth that just emanated umami deliciousness. Try this casual spot when you're passing through OBX. I'll be back to try some more substantial entree choices when I have more time for sure!

The food was wonderful. Some of the best Thai food we have had in years. The ambiance was comfortable and slightly upscale, very comfortable for our 5yeqr old still. Truly the highlight of dinner was our waitress Lynette. She was so wonderful and sweet to talk to. She listens to our little guy tell her stories and also chatted with us while still attending other guests. I really can't thank her enough. We lost my mother in law this week and I felt the love she had through Lynette. We will be back to see her

We visited this place twice while vacationing earlier this month. Everything was delicious and the customer service was great. Nice little quiet restaurant playing good music. We will definitely visit again next time we're in the area!

Eh, okay. I got the philly. Substituted the cucumber for avocado, much better. Didn't care for the spring roll, too big and doughy imo. Not made fresh. Didn't like their duck sauce.

I've been to Single Fin three times now. I found there sushi greatly disappointing , but the Thai stuff was excellent - all of it. Service is professional and attentive.

This sushi might be the best Ive ever had. It was amazing. Service was pretty quick and my waitress was super sweet. Tables are pretty spaced out so you don't feel like you're eating with the table beside you. Will be making a trip back before I leave my vacation.

Met the manager to this place at a marina. We ended up going to this place after chatting with him and his co-workers. We were not disappointed. Everything we had was excellent. The sashimi and sushi was fresh. I went with 2 picky sushi eaters and they were both saying, the best place they been to. That says a lot. If you are in a sushi mood, go there! this is a must stop. I've only give a few 5 stars over the decade.

Absolutely the freshest and most delicious sushi I've ever had! The service was wonderful, the ambiance was charming, and the seafood was so fresh that my girlfriend said that she felt like "the crab I just ate had to be alive earlier today."

My son wanted sushi for dinner and we saw this place was well reviewed and close to our location. This was the best sushi I have had in a while. The service was excellent and she made some great recommendations. We had the dumplings and soft shell crab appetizers. Both were delicious. I got the sushi silver combination. The tuna was exceptional and it melted in my mouth. Scallop was also included which happens to be my favorite type of nigiri. It was the best I have ever had. My son loved his rolls and my husband enjoyed his poke bowl. He appreciated that it was fish focused and not covered up by too much spice. I would eat here again.

Came here randomly craving Asian food on vacation and wasn't disappointed! It was fairly busy when we came in and so we sat at the bar. The bartender was extremely personable and quick with her work, we always felt very taken care of. We ordered the peach sake, the Khao Soi, and the single fin roll, and yellowtail nigiri with seaweed salad. First of all, the Khao Soi was AMAZING, I can't recommend it enough. It was extremely rich and flavorful, but not overpoweringly so. It was so good that although my SO and I were sharing, we never wanted to hand it back over to the other person. We actually ended up ordering another portion to go so we could eat some again later that night. The sushi was also good quality fish and delicious! Seaweed salad is always a refreshing choice to pair with any meal to freshen things up. The peach sake was just enough for two people to share comfortably. Overall, friendly staff, delicious food (please order the Khao Soi), and good service! Would recommend if you're in the area.

Being close to the shore we had to try a sushi place. Single Fin Thai Sushi is arguably the best sushi we have EVER had. Going back to our plain sushi spots in PA have been ruined for us. We got the California Roll, Obx Roll, Volcano roll and Spicy Yellowtail Roll. Everything was so fresh. The volcano roll was done a bit different than how it is done back home but honestly I like their version better.

Very good Thai food. Kinda pricey but what isn't these days. I tried something different with the sesame chicken and my wife had the lo mien with shrimp, both were good but I will stick with my red or Pinang curry

This place was lovely! Food was surprisingly good even the Pho because there isn't any Vietnamese places down here in Outer Banks The broth lacked a bit of flavor but service and good was amazing. We will come back again!

Their service was amazing. We had the JB roll, volcano roll, and the General Tao chicken. I did feel the sushi rolls were a little pricey but the General Tao chicken was freaking amazing!!! We would go there again just for that! The flavor was on point and it was caramelized and crispy!! Would definitely go there again!!

We came here for a quick lunch. Pork Dumpling was standard, seemed store bought. I like the dipping sauce. Coconut Soup Tom Kha was good. I wish the portion is bigger. Spicy Basil Fried Rice, had it to go, it was good. Overall, the food was good. Server was attentive and kind.

During our week in the Outer Banks, we ate here three times because we loved it so much. Our oldest says it's the best Asian food he has had. Great service and ambience, but the food was the best part. We loved the caramelized eggplant. Thank you!

I had the chirashi bowl and two orders of mackerel nigiri. The bowl was delicious and fresh and the nigiri was so tasty that I ordered another. The mackerel was the best I've ever had. Service was friendly and the ambiance was casual. I would come back whenever I make it back to the Outer Banks.
