"This family-run newcomer serves nearly a dozen freshly brewed beers at its built-in taproom, including a house lager it bills as “your gateway drug to craft beer.” In addition to making industry standards, Sinistral also mixes things up with ginger-rye ales, and rotating sours." - Eater Staff

Don't sleep on the fish taco lager! Salty and lime, very refreshing and enjoyable. Think sea quench ale, but better / more fresh. Key lime beer was also delicious. Great casual spot, definitely will check out again soon.

6/11/25 Still the place to be for great music and local talent. Second Thursday is open mic, and the talent here tonight was over the top. Do yourself a favor and get out here! 11/21/24 Hop jam is an explosion of local talent coming together to make some of the most incredible music around. It's like catching a moment of pure beauty as it flows swiftly by. Never the same twice, but always memorable and precious. Update 9/20/24 OctoberFEAST is here!!! I love a mild dark beer, this is a good one! Andrew ODay is playing, a beautiful night I love this bar! Update 8/25 /23 If you appreciate live music you have to check out sinestral. Night after night, great tunes, great brews, and great people. This is a must try! Sinestral is the center of old town night life. Great music, craft beer, exciting food trucks. Not to mention fun people and staff! What? Was that Brett Michaels sitting in at Sinestral???? Wow, what a great treat. Rockin' with the Manassas boys! Pete Evick was excellent, loved this night. This place is always fun, a great staff and owner. If you like beer, this is your spot. But even if you don't, the band and outdoor seating is usually the best in town. 9/9 Another excellent band at Sinestral! Something Shiny Duo. Great time was had by all.

Google
Friendly brewery with cheery employees! They give samples before you commit and they sell both 8 and 16 oz pours. I had an 8oz of the Buffalo Thief Brown Ale and the Camryn’s Poker-faced Porter. Both were good beers. I’m sorry that I couldn’t stay longer, but I was just passing through. The bar is comfortable and inviting and there is a large outdoor space by the train tracks for warmer weather. The beers are really great and I look forward to returning!

Google
Nice little local spot... their beer line up is right about what I like. Definitely worth check it out. In the heart of Manassas downtown area cool vibes to walk around if you needed a break. They have a food truck that parks in front of the place if you are looking for a quick snack.

Google
Sinistral is never short on a great bevie selection, live entertainment, dope people and good vibes! They offer a variety premiere NA beers, house made seltzers, and selection of red, white and sparkling wines to ensure there is something for everyone. Puccios provides amazing fresh made to order pizzas on site, so it is a win all the way around!

Google
First timer... from NJ . Loved this place . I always love breweries and we tried this one . Really really loved their hei solskin ipa. Perfect blend and really smooth. We also took home some cans ... wish they had glass growlers.. we could have bought a few. Parking was good since we went on a weekday (after 8pm). Not sure how easy the parking is - on peak hours and weekends. Very nice service .. overall loved this place !!

Google
Very busy after the Saint Patrick's day parade in Manassas, but the line moved quickly and there were places to sit and relax. The Big Fat German Chocolate Cake beer was one of the best I've had in a long time.

Great beer and pizza! Amazing atmosphere!

Yelp
Sinistral Brewing is a very special little family-run brewery in the heart of Old Town Manassas. The owners have hearts of gold, the staff is friendly, and the beers and other beverages are delicious. The vibe is super chill with indoor and covered outdoor spaces with plenty of seating. Sinistral promotes and celebrates live music, with several music events during week and weekend, including open mics and fun casual jams with one of the owners. Most of the time the brewery hosts excellent food trucks to keep patrons well fed. Sinistral has hosted charity events and truly gives back to the community.

Yelp
Sinistral Brewery is a fun go to spot with many activities and great drinks in the heart of downtown Manasses! With plenty things ranging from Trivia Nights every two weeks on Wednesday nights. Emo nights with great emo playlist from the wonderful staff and amazing bar tenders. Shout out to Gil for always being a good time and happy!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
One of my favorite Manassas locations! Perfectly located and they have a good selection for nonbeer drinkers, too. I love that they expanded the inside a bit so there's more seating.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Hands down the best brewery in the area. We love the rotating beers and in our opinion, there is something for everyone here. They have wine, seltzers, soda, etc but the beer is supreme. Sinistral introduced me to how delicious sours can be (any sour they put out with lactose is just amazing) and I haven't found a single IPA here that I don't like. The crew behind the bar is amazing and the bands they get are always great. Love the ambiance here. Can't go wrong!

Michael P.

Yelp
First time here at Sinistral! Really enjoy their IPAs. Small seating area, so arrive early!

Tony L.

Yelp
This brewery is superb in so many ways. The staff is great. The owners are also good people. I go here at least once a week for the music and the outstanding beer. Thanks to Blane and the team for everything.

Allison M.

Yelp
I love it here! I've been going to trivia for years, it's the best trivia in the area! Personally I'm not a beer drinker, however all the friends I've brought here love the beer! Gil is a great bartender!

JC R.

Yelp
Came here during the first Friday fest with Fringe Benefit band playing outdoor and place was packed. Lucky they had beer stands outdoor to order. There were 2 variety I believe one was a lager and the other an IPA, the lager was slightly better taste wise, as the other was not as pronounced in terms of flavor and time. Because it was pretty busy customary or necessary service was lacking but I understand so 3 stars just because -- we had fun with the band playing Nirvana, Alanis, others, and some 80s and even Queen's We will rock you!" as we jammed with the lead singer right in front of the made up stage! She introduced herself as Julia during the break so that was nice! Therefore, Sinistral's score was carried by the band they hired for entertainment!

Angelia N.

Yelp
Good time. Relaxed atmosphere. Enjoyed the beer and frozen seltzers. Bands and food are always a plus.

Yelp
When Old Town Manassas has everything, they really do have everything. Across from The Bone is a small parking lot is the Sinistral Brewing Company. My boyfriend and I were trying to find the brewery that we walked around a block to find it, when clearly we could've walked through the parking lot. Sinistral Brewing has plenty of outdoor seating. The seating and tables were somewhat spaced out but most of us were cautious to keep our distance from one another. The inside of Sinistral Brewing was nice! I enjoyed the modern feel with the gray brick walls and wooden counters. There was even a light sign displaying, 'Sinistral' on the wall. We were taken right away and the staff were wearing face masks. I have noticed that they have hand sanitizers and would sanitize their hands before dealing with a customer. I ordered a Raspberry Tart beer (if only I remember the exact name of it!) and it was SUPER good! I'm a fruity person and I was amazed how well the beer tasted. My boyfriend ordered the Philsner (he remembered his beer than I) and he enjoyed his choice as well. If you ever take a look on their social media, please do! They have events almost every evening (Tuesdays - Saturdays)! I'd like to come back with my boyfriend to check these events out!

Yelp
Manassas it seems has become a magnet for start up breweries. Welcome to Sinistral; the most recent addition to the scene. This building has been idle for nearly 7 years after the fail of the oak barrel vendor. The inside has a nice long bar with plenty of seating and an HDTV with the beer types scrolling across the screen. There is plenty of seating for large and small groups and a lot of natural light. There are several HDTV's about the rooms that seem to be available for custom viewing. I stopped in on Independence Day to find a festive vibe and the patio filled with the music of Chris & Connor. There seemed to be a lot of families and they have a special temp controlled building where parents can take the youngsters to a small game room. There are outside bathrooms. I tried the Fish Taco which is a very odd name for a beer, right? It was very light and low abv and not a bad choice on a 95 degree day. The place was very clean and it's apparent it's well managed and cared for. They don't serve food but today, they had Zandras Food Truck. The start-up has been well document in the local news for the challenges experienced with the vendor who sold them their tanks. It's great to see the plan and vision lives on in this great neighborhood brewery. I really like that the bathroom is extra clean and feels like you are right at home. It made for a great way to start Independence day! #GodBlessAmerica

Yelp
Absolutely love this spot. Right in the middle of tons of eateries and they occasionally have food trucks, but what brings us back is the beer and the staff. They have some of the most interesting beers on tap.

Gwenda W.

Yelp
Great vibe, super friendly service, good beer, decent amount of seating, both inside and outside.

Kath R.

Yelp
Our server was super personable. He let us try a few before we decided. The atmosphere was great and the beer choices were too. They have sours, darks and ipa. So there are options for all. This was our second visit and I'm sure we will be back.

Laurie L.

Yelp
I was with a group of people listening to music at Sinistral Brewing last night. I've been there before and had a great time drinking good beer. Last night was different. Our whole group tasted or ordered almost every beer option that was offered. None of them were any good. What is going on? The beer was all watered down. We then tried all of the wines. They were not good either. We are not snobs, but there should at least be something decent offered. I've always found something I liked in the past. This time was different. It was the same way for our group. We talked about not going back again. Please stop cutting corners and diluting your beer. You've done better in the past.

Neal E.

Yelp
We visited Sinistral Brewing Company early one Sunday afternoon. We both ordered full tasting flights - seven beers in all. Overall, we enjoyed most of their beer offerings. I was especially impressed with the "Little Grey IPA" and their "U Betcha NEIPA." Least favorite beer was their "St. Nix Fix Winter Ale." A little to heavy and cloying on the spices. Overall, most of their ales were well-executed and enjoyable. We look forward to coming back and trying even more of their brews! #SinistralBrewingCompany

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love this spot! Great location and the staff is always friendly. Best part beer is great! We are making this a weekend thing now, love the live music, love the vibes!

Irving A.

Yelp
Excelent place..awesome brewery you definitely have to try their Irish Stout, is like milk.

Melanie Y.

Yelp
We love this local brewery! Gil (hope I spelled it correctly!) is an amazing bartender. We go here often - and always have a great time! Beer is awesome- the place is awesome- everything is just brilliant.

Christopher G.

Yelp
Sinistral has done a great job with beers, live music on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The place is well decorated and local artist painting the outside walls. Food trucks are always good and fun pop-up food ideas Perogies, Brats, Wagyu Burgers all special pop-up.

Trish A.

Yelp
A local gathering spot where the world slows down enough that you can catch up a little! Relax, enjoy talented performers & play outside on their awesome patio!! This whimsical, happy, family owned & operated spot in historic downtown Manassas is worth a visit!

caitlyn r.

Yelp
You know the show "Cheers"? Definitely that kind of place! The bartender Gil is the kindest down to earth guy and the people who go are usually really friendly and feel like family! Im not a beer person but I love the kombucha drink they have!

Matthew F.

Yelp
Nice little place; not quite as big as I somehow thought it would be, but a good spot in a nice neighborhood. I visited on a semi-cool day, so I didn't partake on the patio like some. I don't think they can do food trucks here, but there are lots of eateries in the area so I don't think bringing food would be an issue. It did have a lot of open windows to take advantage of good weather. Their tap was heavy on the IPAs, so I didn't try much of their lineup. But I did like a few of what I did get: Fish Taco Lager: No it's not a typo - that's the name! Noticeable lime notes. Goes will with fish tacos (although I didn't personally test this out). Favorite of the line-up. Porter: Smooth, creamy like a stout. Definitely one of the better porters I've had in a while. Orange Cream: Tasted like eating an orange cream ice cream. Different...maybe not a retry, though. Amber: OK, some hop notes but not a retry.

J Warren R.

Yelp
What a great line up of exceptionally well crafted beer, all in a cool, hip setting. Inside at the bar it is sleek, outside the area is comfortable with heaters, tables and chairs and space for outdoor games. The place is a happening place in downtown Manassas, especially on the weekends. So what to try -the Margarita -Lager Iceberg was interesting. Green and served with crushed ice - quite refreshing, even on the snowy day I was there - must try. The Camryn's Poker-Faced Porter and the Decoy Dunkelweizen as well as Garcia's Stout were stand out favorites. Sinistral is a force to be reckoned with - if you want to experience a cool place with tasty and enjoyably drinkable beers, then put Sinistral on your to do list.

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Nice little indoor/ outdoor brewery with pretty good service and atmosphere. I'm not giving stars all stars because there is no food outside of popcorn& smoothies and there were only about 5-7 choices of beer and drinks on the menu. More drink options and real food is needed for regular visits. I do like how they have local vibe and friendly staff.

Rachel M.

Yelp
I heart family owned and operated businesses. Great venue with a cool vibe. Inside and outside seating areas. Extensive beer menu to satisfy everyone's tastes including IPAs, sours and stouts. Live music and you can bring your own food.

J V.

Yelp
Ambiance and neighborhood feel! Staff is super friendly, personable and engaging! 5 stars to the beer craftsmanship! Love what the owners and his crew have built! Places like this make Old Town Manassas!

MaKenzie R.

Yelp
Sinsitral is a great place. The owners and bartenders make you feel like family. My friend and I moved from PA and they made us feel at home! Great music, great beer and great company! Get the slush topping. Kudos to an amazing bar with even better beer.

Wendy M.

Yelp
Nice spot in downtown Manassas. Parking can be difficult, but dog-friendly. Favorites included the Key Lime Berliner Weisse and Camryn's Poker-Faced Porter. The porter pairs well with the complimentary Hershey Kisses.

Tim R.

Yelp
Disappointed. If you own or manage a business, it goes a long way to simply say hi or smile upon their entry. Walked up to the bar, smiled and said hi... guy just glares at me and walks off. Never ever spoke once. Fortunately, the two ladies behind the bar were much more welcoming and very helpful. Great music, seating and games outdoor as well. B/c the bar is open to outside, there are LOTS of flies. But they don't serve food, so no worries there. They do sell snacks, coffee and slushies. As someone else said, I try to support the locals/breweries and was really looking forward to finally trying this place. But after that, I don't plan to come back. Beers were limited and mediocre, IMO. He left a really bad impression on me. You got what you wanted.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Fantastic family owned and run brewery. Everyone who works there has a sense of alchemy and passion for the craft of brewing. The vibe is cozy and fun. I loved the slushy float idea in my beer!

Lora N.

Yelp
Service and ambiance are a premium... and the beer is great also! Even if you're not a "beer" fan/purist per se, try the lager with a frozen lemonade floater... anyone can drink it! Bring the whole family; there's plenty of games, snacks, and live entertainment. Owner Blane has been in the industry 20 years, and he and his staff know how to treat their guests. The staff is warm, welcoming, and friendly. I highly recommend this old town gem!

Marcia C.

Yelp
Great beer and snacks. Nice outdoor space with games and plenty of tables. Good for families. We love coming here when the weather is warm because old town Manassas closes off their streets at night and has bands play. There is a stage right in front of Sinistral. Small but you don't always feel like going to a place like 2 silos and dealing with overpriced, lackluster beer and crowds.

Melissa M.

Yelp
We went to this place by recommendation from another brewery in the area. They told us that they're new and that people love the beer so much that this (currently) smaller operation runs out of some of the beers on tap. The location is great, with a parking lot across the street. It looks smaller from the outside than it actually is. They have 2 buildings and a patio. They also had live music while I was there which was a nice touch being that it wasn't loud enough to drown out a personal conversation. I also took time to explore the second building and it has a speaker you can play your own music on and is full of games to enjoy with company! My boyfriend and I got the IPA and both really enjoyed it. They had a couple sours on tap (I'm not a fan, but if you are they got it). The menu also shows what they have brewing, and I'm super excited to come back and try some of the brews they have in the works!

Johannah E.

Yelp
Sinistral has great beer, a cool coastal aesthetic, and a lot of heart! You can tell that a lot planning and passion went into the entire place- from the names of the beers to the seasonal decorations to the beautiful lighting above the bar. On the weekends, there's great music and the outdoor area is perfect in warmer weather. The people are warm and friendly -- and that is why Sinistral is my new favorite brewery in Manassas. Cheers!

Shawn M.

Yelp
Great place. Beer is delicious and fairly priced - the porter was a favorite with our group. Inside the decoration/design is not so special. Pretty bright in there with lots of TV's. It's brand new though and I think it will be successful!

Shelbie C.

Yelp
Decent saison with lemon and basil undertones. It was kind of peppery as well. We landed during an old town strong block party or something so lots of folks out enjoying a nice summer day. Felt like old times. No flights at this time so I just tried the one saison.

Joe Bob P.

Yelp
Now THIS is a fun place to come and have a beer. The beer is great, great atmosphere next to the railroad tracks and plenty of places nearby to order food and have it delivered. What really does it for me though are the people who run it! There are a lot of good breweries out there now a days, but is it only the beer you go for? For me if the people who run and frequent the place are awesome then even mediocre beer is ok. But fortunately this place has both!! Good beer and good people... it is a win-win. So, next time you are in Manassas, check these folks out. I even have more on my blog about them... so check it out as well. https://whogivesatoot.blogspot.com/2018/03/sinistral-brewery-old-town-manassas-va.html

Sena L.

Yelp
Such a nice place lots of different beers to choose from. Great atmosphere, will definitely be returning. Just needs a little bit more seating

Chandler D.

Yelp
Visited here yesterday for the first time. They have a decent sized open space for people to sit and stay for a while. We stopped here for a beer each after having dinner nearby. They are still practicing social distancing as they are following phase 2 guidelines. I would definitely come back here again!

Chuck L.

Yelp
I had a good time there today. There was a birdhouse painting and beer thing going today, the girl working behind the bar was very friendly, and I like that you can bring your own food. I only had two 5 ounce beers, just to do a little sampling. Both were good, but not great.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Came across Sinistral and am really, really happy we stopped in. Wonderful find. Super friendly, great outdoor atmosphere, inviting bar, and great beer. (We started with Jackson's Fish Taco Lager, which tastes nothing like fish or tacos... Just a crisp and tasty beer.) It's our first time here, but will be happy to support a relatively new local business.

Jason O.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years now and it is one of my favorites. They consistently have new beers on tap, most of which are delicious! The staff is also very friendly. Best place for a cold beer around!

Giovanna P.

Yelp
We were passing through Manassas and looking for a place to grab a quick beer so we googled breweries in Manassas. I choose this place because I wanted an excuse to walk through the old town. We visited on a quite Sunday which looked like they had a good group of regulars. The place has a great outdoor venue for live music so if you enjoy that I'd highly look into their schedule. Beers were good! At the end as we were paying, a man behind the bar, which I believe its a husband/wife business stopped and took the time to explain how he makes his beer and the quality of water used in it as well. The purified water is also available to drink so we were able to taste the water pre beer as well. Glad we got a second to speak with him as we were heading out the door as he made the experience more personal!

Chrystalle B.

Yelp
We visited here on a Saturday recently. We were able to find street parking in downtown Manassas quite easily. But using Google Maps was not the correct idea to find this place. It took us in to the city hall parking lot and essentially to the back of the brewery. It's a smaller taproom, longer than it is wide. It looked like they have an outside area that on this particular day was covered by a tent. We chose to sit inside at the bar. The bar work is beautiful. After a few minutes we were greeted by one of the owners for our order. My husband chose a pint while I opted for a flight. He thoroughly enjoyed his stout (as did I, It was the best thing we tried). Their porter was also good, nice and roasty. Nothing else I tried really jumped out at me taste wise (a pale wheat ale, 2 IPAs, and a pale ale), though they did seem to have a style for everyone. One beer I did NOT enjoy was their holiday eggnog (essentially eggnog and their porter). Still not an eggnog fan but I was really hoping this would change that for me. Side note: if you enjoy eggnog, get this. We were sure you regulars that kept ordering it and seemed to love it. It was just not for me. All in all a solid visit. Will definitely be back (now that we know exactly where it is ;)).

Alexandria M.

Yelp
I have to update my review, because I was so happy to see, just yesterday, that they have a sour beer! It's pretty good, and I love that they are coming out with more and more varieties of beers. Happy me!

Lein J.

Yelp
I debated this quite a bit before posting this review. I live in Springfield and have started buying from local breweries since the past few months. Last night I decided to drive to Sinistral after browsing their Facebook page. I was hoping to get the "fat peaches something" to fill my growler. I walked in around 8:30 PM and there was a fairly small line. I asked the woman at the counter if I could buy the Big Fat Peaches and Cream and she said "no", it was made in limited batches. I asked her if I could buy a four pack or so which she said I couldn't as it was only on tap. I wasn't offered any options. This just didn't sit right with me and I should have just walked away but I didn't. I asked her if I could buy the sour and she said it wasn't good for the growler refill but I eventually insisted that I wanted to buy it. She ended up filling the growler and I paid and left. Finally late last night I just thought about the whole situation and it just didn't sit right with me. I just strongly feel that maybe I "was in the wrong neighborhood".

Marianna B.

Yelp
1st time visiting and won't be the last! Had the fish taco beer and it was nice and light. One bit of advice is to eat before you arrive or you can bring food in. Last night there was a food truck on site, but food was a bit pricey. Great time with friends and family!!
