H Mart Grand Opens Today With Korean Food Hall - Eater San Diego

"The market eatery also houses another well-known brand from Korea, Sinjeon Food Sys. Its main attraction is topokki, a dish featuring stir-fried rice cakes in a spicy gochujang sauce, but the stall will also offer fried dumplings, fish cakes, and variations on kimbap, a Korean snack akin to sushi rolls." - Candice Woo

This is the worst topokiki (rice cake spicy) I have ever had. Tastes like spicy sugar water. This place is an embarrassment to Korean food. Find a frozen TV dinner style version of this and it would be far better.

The ttukbokki sauce is all made of powder and doesn't have the authentic taste. Tastes like it's made with instant noodle spice powder. Didn't like the taste. And way overpriced! I don't recommend. The cashier was hard to understand through the mask. And he yelled at me, the customer. The store offers nothing of interest.

Everything is so good at this place. Especially the cheese kimbap roll is amazing. And the people that work there are very friendly and willing to help when I asked any questions they're very informative and courteous. I highly recommend this place to get something to eat. And price is very reasonable.

It's ok but, way over priced I think. Other restaurants have more choices at the same price.

I ordered one topokki via uber eats. It's so good. As a Korean, I wonder why there's no spiciness option or the beverage because there is in Korea. Maybe they just didn't upload it on the app. The taste is very similar with the Korean ones, but I would have to say it's much more expensive than the original. I love the taste, but it's not gonna be my go-to food because of the price. 한국에서 먹는 거랑 맛은 비슷한데 비싸요. 우버이츠에 등록이 안된 건지 모르겠지만 맵기를 조절할 수 없었고, 음료수도 없었어여

Yelp
I thought this place was permanently closed for the longest time until I realized it just shared the same space as the soondoobu place "next door." The Tteokbokki tastes pretty good although heavy on the pepper flavor, and the spam mayo bowl is good too (just literally spam, mayo, and seaweed). I like that the tteokbokki here is actually spicy. They need to update the menu posted outside the restaurant because it has old prices. $16 for tteokbokki seems so expensive when considering this is basically no-frills street food. I'd have liked to try some of the fried food on the menu but it's prohibitively expensive. The portion and price point is why I'm docking stars. I give this place a 3.5/5 but rounded up because I want to support these local Korean businesses.

Yelp
My family came to visit SD so I was going to take them to another restaurant but they were busy, so we came here instead. I've only ever ordered from here through Ubereats so I knew it would be good and probably better since it would be fresh. This spot is a joint restaurant with another restaurant and the plaza gets really packed so good luck with parking if you decide to come here. I always order their Sinjeon Set D which includes their spicy rice cake and choice of spam mayo bowl or tuna mayo bowl. This time I got the medium level spicy rice cake with the spam mayo bowl and soondae. Sinjeon honestly has the best spicy rice cake I've ever tried in SD because they do the spice right. I was a little disappointed with the portion because I remember when I would get it delivered it was a lot more. But still delicious and spicy! I like to get the rice bowl because I think it balances well with the rice cake but just by itself it is really salty. The soondae was your standard taste. My family ordered some other dishes but they said they were just okay.

Yelp
I tried this place when it was at Zion market and fell in love with the spicy and rose rice cakes! The rose rice cakes have a pink colored sauce as they have some sort of cream mixed in. It's either regular cream or coconut cream but it's sooooo good! Glad they have found a new location here next to Seoul Korean Tofu House. Growing up in Korea, ttukboki was my favorite street food! The spicy rice cakes are similar to what you expect for ttukboki but better in my opinion. The sauce is SPICY so beware but I prefer this over too sweet like at other places. I need to try some of the other items but I will keep coming back just for the rice cakes. I'm not sure if they intend to have their own entrance soon but for now you can order from within Seoul Korean Tofu House! I was able to order tofu soup and the rice cakes at the same time and get my Korean food fill! I believe they took over Katztra Sushi that used to be connected to the tofu restaurant. Enjoy!

Yelp
Unfortunately my last review got removed (I also think i may have been logged into the wrong account). The rice cakes are sooooo good! Try the classic red and the pink "Rose" rice cakes. They add some kind of cream (maybe coconut?) that makes it taste creamy and unique. I get the mild spicy and it is spicy so try that level first before getting it any spicier. Be prepared! It's sooo delicious though. It's connected to Seoul Korean Tofu House but I think they may have their own entrance and seating soon. It looked like they were preparing to open last time I was there. Enjoy!

Yelp
My favorite place to get tteokbokki! Their spicy level was really spicy but so good. Their friend seaweed roll and dumplings were really good to eat with the sauce. Will def come back again!

Yelp
Ordered food through Uber Eats. Big mistake. Food never arrived. Looked all over neighborhood and couldn't find food. Now Uber Eats won't give me a refund. I'm out over $100!! Don't order food from here and definitely not through Uber Eats!

Yelp
Took almost 1 1/2 hours to get our food and they were literally mocking us. Not sure how much longer they can stay in business with ethics like that.... Such a shame because I once liked this place.

Yelp
Was sad to find out they it was closed in the food court for Zion. Found it several weeks later doing a drive by. Came early, waited for them to open for 15 min. Was the first one to order the food and then it took over 25 min to get sundae. People who ordered Korean food got their food before us even though they came in later. It is now going on over 30 min. As much as we like the food? They seriously need to do hi te out how to prioritize cooking food. Felt bad for waitress but really disappointing.
