"I read that at the late-great Sinju Martinez played with elaborate maki, an experience that contributed to his creative, maximalist roll-making." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
We loved this place!!! There was so much on the menu we wanted to try so we just got a bunch of apps and sides!! Our favorite was the lion king roll! I enjoyed cooked salmon on top of a roll! We tried some new veggies and wow, the white onion one was really good!!! We have had tamago before but never avocado nigiri, SOOO good!!! Our waitress was a delight! She was chatty explaining to us what we ordered and where in country it was popular. I wish we were local cause I would be regular here!!

Google
This is a fantastic sushi joint - I've been here many times over the past couple of years and the service is ALWAYS on-point. The food is excellent, and absolutely everything is made with passion. We even got to speak with the bar manager and let her know that her drink concoctions were a standout!!

Lauren W.

Google
Delicious coctails!! My favorite is the Okinawa Blossom 🌸 And the Sushi is absolutely incredible! Everything was so melt-in-your-mouth delicious!! If you want good sushi, Sinju is a MUST!! 💕

Sinju Sushi is a great place and I love coming back. The only weird thing I'll talk about is the bathrooms. Full mirrors from ceiling to floor and... well, you kinda get the idea. Anyway, the quality of the food is great, I love coming here with friends after we've done shopping. It's a great place to stop by.

My family and I had not been back to this restaurant in years. We had often gone there when we resided in Lake Oswego. So, it was great to visit this restaurant for a family reunion. At first, we were disappointed that the Combinations were gone, but the food we ordered was delicious and the servers (especially the main one, a lady with an accent) was diligent and attentive. We intend to return here in the future for our reunions.

I’ve come to Sinju many times and have loved it every time. Our waiter, Ayano, was incredible and kind and attentive. I couldn’t recommend her more. Thank you for the great service and food quality!

Celeste K.

Google
Ayano was a phenomenal server and everything we ate was delicious. The sake flight was a fantastic way to try new tastes with very generous pours. The fish was all so fresh. Will definitely be back.

Google
Talk about quality, this is our absolute favorite sushi restaurant. The sushi rolls are the highest quality ever, an art form. The service is always an absolute delight. We always come here whenever we are in town. I highly recommend you try it out.

Yelp
We had such a wonderful lunch date at Sinju! The atmosphere is exactly what you'd want--mood lit, cozy, and calm without being too dark. It wasn't overly busy, which gave us the perfect balance of privacy and conversation while enjoying some truly amazing food. Service was calm, courteous, kind, and attentive the entire time. Now the food--absolutely outstanding! Every dish was plated beautifully and tasted even better: * Hamachi Jalapeño - The standout star! Perfectly delicate hamachi topped with fresh jalapeño and a touch of sauce. The simplicity combined with that bold kick of flavor was pure perfection. Elegant, clean, and absolutely unforgettable. * Spicy Pork Lettuce Wraps - Tender, savory pork in a rich, spicy sauce paired with fresh, crisp lettuce. The freshness of the greens balanced the spice perfectly, making every bite bright and flavorful. * Volcano Roll - A showstopper! Warm, baked topping of spicy crab over a roll that had depth and flavor in every bite. The creamy heat and slightly charred finish made this one of the top dishes of the day. * Orange Blossom Roll - Fresh salmon layered over a beautiful roll with bright pops of roe and jalapeño. Refreshing yet indulgent, with a little zing that kept us coming back for more. * Sunset Roll - Another visually stunning and delicious roll, with salmon and vibrant toppings that delivered a smooth, buttery bite every time. The Hamachi Jalapeño and Volcano Roll were the absolute winners, though everything we tried was spot on. From start to finish, it was an elevated yet approachable dining experience. Sinju delivered on all levels--food, service, and ambiance. If you're looking for an amazing sushi and Japanese dining experience, this is it. Already looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
I'd like to first compliment Cassie at the bar, she was very kind, attentive and quick. She's clearly very experienced and her hospitality was very appreciated. Food was excellent, I chose 2 house rolls and asked Cassie if they had a sweet potato roll, which they didn't. But she asked the chefs if they could accommodate and they made me an awesome tempura sweet potato roll. It was SO good! Ambiance was very nice too. I definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
We stopped in on a whim when a sushi craving hit and we were not disappointed! Ended up grabbing some seats at the counter & striking up a conversation with our sushi chef Eric. He was very attentive, friendly, and had some great recommendations. Everything we ordered was delicious but my favorite was definitely the crispy rice tuna & the hamachi jalapeño!

Yelp
Arrived early for a dinner reservation and was seated promptly at the Sushi Bar. I was greeted by the sushi chef and the waitress came by to take my drink order. I had to wait for a while for my dining companion as there was a lot of traffic so the Chef suggested fresh Bluefin tuna. I tried a couple pieces and it was excellent. I also tried some O Toro which was even better. For my main course I ordered my favorite roll, the Yummy Crunch which is a great mix of shrimp tempura and crab with wonderful flavor.

Yelp
Have been here for lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Sushi is great, cocktails are good, ambiance is hit or miss. Service is not consistent either.

Yelp
After the first 20 or so 5 star visits, the last 10 have been terrible. We only sit in the bar area. Usually bar top with Cassie because she is awesome. When we walk by to the empty bar top, we get scolded every time by an 18 year old host telling us we can't go sit there without checking in. Ok. No problem. No other restaurant with an empty bar makes you wait at an empty host stand to check in to an empty bar top. Every time we are offered menus, every time we repeat we know exactly what we want just like last time. Yesterday I made a reservation at 9:00 AM, to sit in the bar area with Cassie at 5:30, 4 people. We got there at 5:00, 30 minutes before our reservation. I saw the table was about the be ready for us. We checked in and left for a bit. Came back at 5:20 and saw our table all ready. Cassie came and said hello. Then they informed us that table was not for us, but for walk-ins. Huh? That's the table I requested at 9:00 AM. 2 hours before they open. Never once was called and told that we couldn't sit there. We have sat there every time. So I told them we came at 5:00, so that's a walk-in. They said no. This was the last option they had to keep us. This is 100% a management/owner problem. They don't have a manager as far as I know. If they do, SHAME on them and the owners. I know a lot of others that go through this as well. We will never ever be back. Terrible restaurant operations. 25 years in the industry as well as a manager, so I know it when I see it.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my first visit here I had the sukiyaki and it was very good. My wife had sushi rolls and they were also very good. The ambience is very pleasant. Everything was perfect The waiter could have made a few more visits for coffee and water refills but he was busy.
google avatar

Tammy L.

Yelp
The inside is warm and intimate. The outside is perfect for sunny weather. I came here for the first time for lunch with family. We ordered 4 rolls for 3 people and initially were going to order 5, the portions are huge, good thing we only ordered 4. The rolls were delicious! The service was friendly, checking up on us every now and then.
google avatar

Ben C.

Yelp
The indoor is unique, maze-like darkroom accent lights, bathroom maybe most interesting. Service was kind & cordial. Menu is standard, nice for a sidewalk patio sushi break from shopping.
google avatar

Tara B.

Yelp
The counter is back open! We love sitting at the counter and we're excited to see it's back open. The food is good quality and not overpriced. The tempura is amazing! Get the tempura, and you won't be disappointed. We visited early in the dinner hour so the restaurant was still quiet and almost empty. I've seen the patio with lots of people so they do get busy. Plus they are next door-ish to the theater so it's a good movie night spot.
google avatar

Morgan H.

Yelp
I thought about the orange blossom roll for over a year and it was even better the second time! Great service, the seating options are good, and on a non-weekend night we got sat very quickly. Portions are big and we barely finished all our food, but loved every bite. The yuzu whiskey sour was delicious as well!

Danira B.

Yelp
There was one roll that tasted like acetone. I ran into an ex employee a bit later in school and she said the same thing! Never will come here again
google avatar

Olivia A.

Yelp
I love coming here with my friends before we go watch a movie. The indoor atmosphere is intimate and cozy. The outside is nice for standard sidewalk seating. The bathrooms have a unique vibe. Colored lighting, an entire mirror wall, pebble wall.. etc. Happy hour here is good too! Shoutout to the bartender. He's awesome. We sat bar top. Always try the garlic edamame and hot sake. I didn't get great pics because I'm very busy eating!

Konstantina K.

Yelp
Sadly Sinju beef is not what it used to be. So horribly salty and was cooked like shoe leather. Had to send back. Came back almost bloody and even more salty.

Yelp
I was at Bridgeport and got pretty hungry, so I decided to check out this place after being recommended it by the person I was with. Inside, it is a bit more upscale than what you would typically expect for an outdoor mall, but nothing crazy. The lighting is dim and all of the seating is pretty private, creating a great atmosphere for a date or small get-together. My boyfriend and I decided to order some nigiri pieces, sashimi, and agedashi tofu. None of the food took too long and the portion itself are perfect. Everything was great, but nothing out of the ordinary. All of the sashimi and nigiri were fresh, light, and beautifully prepared. It wouldn't be my first place to go to for sushi, but if I were hungry and already at Bridgeport, I wouldn't mind coming back!
google avatar

Joe K.

Yelp
Decent, competent, satisfying sushi nigiri and sushi rolls in a comfortable setting. There's also a large and tasty variety of fully cooked selections. It's a good option for groups with diverse gastronomic requirements. Convenient free parking in a multi-story garage next to restaurant.

Yelp
Was so sad when the Sinju in Clackamas closed so I am very grateful for this location. The Sushi is amazing, and the staff is always so kind. I have noticed they don't have the Lavender lemonades here so if any higher up views this please bring them back! Lovely place, Good Food and amazing staff.
google avatar

Kate J.

Yelp
Went to Sinju with a large group of people and they were very accommodating. The food was fresh and the employees were all friendly and attentive to our orders!
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
really great atmosphere - loved the cozy fireplace room and the acrylic chairs lining the sushi bar. Our server was very attentive and answered our many questions the best he could - even bringing out a sample of a cocktail we were debating on. The sushi was a bit hit and miss, the fish was fresh but some of the items were a little goopy for me - I prefer minimal or no sauces. I loved the area as a whole, very nice for a post dinner stroll.
google avatar

Deb L.

Yelp
A bit disappointed in the sushi quality the past couple of times here. Very large menu with lots of options. Food and drinks are a bit on the pricey side compared to other local sushi options in the area.
google avatar

Maria L.

Yelp
While the ambiance and staff were pleasurable the sushi was not very good. We ordered 4 rolls and all were boring and lacked flavor. The rice wasn't very sticky and the rolls fell apart too easily. I've been eating sushi for 40 years and this is probably one of the worst for flavor and texture. They're overpriced too. I'm giving a 2 instead of 1 for friendly service.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
The ramen was very delicious and a large serving! Wonderful ambiance and kind staff with very speedy service.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
The service was above and beyond. Flora was an absolute delight! She stored my food in the fridge while I shopped, something I didn't expect a restaurant would do, so when I came back later in the evening I was shocked she was still there so I ordered some drinks at the bar just to chat with her. She was a pleasure and so knowledgeable about their sake and Japanese liquor varieties. I ordered the salmon nigiri, their calamari or octopus special, the ahi tower, and the lychee martini and all were fantastic! I will be visiting again

Dana C.

Yelp
Sushi is fine but not great...I expected far better for the price and ambiance that this restaurant exhibits. I probably wouldn't be leaving a review...but upon checkout our server charged the table next to us our ticket. Which for some reason meant she couldn't charge us (still don't understand this?) Long story short it became very complicated- we had to wait longer til the other patrons returned to the restaurant. It was the most bizarre and un professional experience I've had at a restaurant. Sadly this ruined our evening as it took time we didn't have as we had plans after dinner. My advice- review your ticket when it comes to your table and again when they bring it back for you to sign.

Yelp
We have been several times. So i think its time to give a review. The staffs are very nice. Each time we stop by. We never disappointed . The Food come out fast. Reasonable price. My favorite is chicken katsu. They always check on us. Love it here. It will be my favorite place in bridgeport.
google avatar

Serena H.

Yelp
A little pricey for being at an outdoor mall. The food tastes good and the presentation is upscale. No complaints about the food or the service.
google avatar

Elizabeth G.

Yelp
There are only a few authentic Japanese restaurants in town, and this is one of them. The photos of the food are nice, but you must come and experience the extraordinary flavors that give us pause to savor. It's not just me, as you have to book reservations in advance for popular weekend dining. Monkey Brains is a must have, for Avocado lovers. It's on the Appetizer menu. The waitress recommended the Summer Roll, which is wrapped in cucumber instead of Nori. So far, I've only ordered rolls, that happen to have no rice, thus making them perfect for the Keto Diet. Yakisoba here is also better than anywhere else in town. again, you have to come and experience the flavors. Sinju is located in the Northwest corner of Bridgeport, with parking close by. Dine In and Patio dining is available.
google avatar

Roze N.

Yelp
They have socially distancing dining. Yahoooo! Enjoyed patio dining on a Monday afternoon and how delightful it was. Staff was super nice and facility clean and beautifully decorated. Order up: there's a dish combo where you can choose 2 types of sushi from list and it comes w cucumber salad and miso soup. Most admit it was just right amount. We ordered the basics: cali roll, spicy tuna, spicy salmon. Also udon tempura. This really hit the spot for sushi craving and dining out. Will have to try the more exotic choices next time.

Laura H.

Yelp
One of my fav sushi spots in the area. My favs are the sunset role and Oswego role. The beef teriyaki is a great choice as well!
google avatar

K M.

Yelp
Great food, great service, and they are pet friendly! Loved the hamachi jalepeno, sunset roll, and Roku gin martini. Def. recommend.
google avatar

Daniela R.

Yelp
The sushi is so good. My favorite place! Philadelphia roll is the best. Usually the staff is very friendly

Zack U.

Yelp
This restaurant was amazing. my girlfriend and I went here during the afternoon and it was really professional. Our server was extremely nice and friendly. There was also really nice background music as well with soft lighting. Also delicious food. we are definitely going to come back.
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
When I see rolls that cost nearly $20, I will have higher standards. I was not really impressed with any of the rolls that we tried. The Spider, 911, and the Dynamite. They were large and in general pretty bland aside from the cream cheese or the fishy taste after the soft shell crab. The miso soup was appropriately priced at $3. The tofu was nice and firm, the wakame (seaweed) was chewy and flavorful. It was a good soup! The service was minimal, just efficient. "What do you want" and "here is your check" kind of deal. So many other options in Portland! I would not go out of my way to go here and I am so glad we made reservations.
google avatar

Darren L.

Yelp
The worst ramen I have ever had in my life. Terrible broth and overcooked egg. It's literally worse than some instant ramen I can make at home except it has a slice of pork.
google avatar

Juliann W.

Yelp
Exquisite sushi presentation and extraordinary taste! You create your order yourself using wax pencils at the table. Staff is very friendly and atmosphere is very relaxing. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Jennifer L.

Yelp
This food was amazing. The outdoor seating also nice however we were seated originally directly in the sun after requesting specially not to be. A small move and everything else was perfect. I was with small group of coworkers and no one had a complaint. The rolls I ordered were new to me, but are probably my most favorite of all time. Lion King Roll Summer Roll
google avatar

Dave K.

Yelp
The food and service were good, that's first off. Lunch was simple--sone edamame and spanish mackerel sashiki---aji. Everything was dialed in. Presentation was solid. Prices, though, as others have noted, are high. That is my only reason for three stars, because the value ratio isn't present. But the fish was very good.

Damien T.

Yelp
I couldn't stop throwing up, the food poisoning here is no joke stay away! I'm still feeling nauseous honestly thinking about it
google avatar

Leti N.

Yelp
Sinju has been one of my favorite spots for YEARS! The service and sushi is outstanding! I wish they still had their popular "Happy Hour" menu! That was always a great happy hour spot.
google avatar

Mo N.

Yelp
One of my favorite sushi spots and it's great that it's local. The only thing my wife and I miss is the happy hour but after COVID it's understandable.

Kailey K.

Yelp
My all time favorite sushi restaurant! Nothing beats the pearl district roll. I look forward to coming here every time I'm in the area.

Heath C.

Yelp
Best tonkatsu ramen I've had since Tokyo last winter. Excellent and immediate service. Delightful ambiance.
google avatar

Leticia V.

Yelp
I'm just not impressed with the prices here. This was definitely good sushi but I can get the same sushi for literally half price at a conveyor belt. I think the most disappointing part was the "dumplings" which sounded amazing on the menu and what I got was store bought and steamed ones. This was 15 dollars?! I could go to fubon right now and get 5 packs for that price. They do have a good HH and that's probably the only time I would ever come back.
google avatar

Rayan R.

Yelp
Food was pretty good but overhyped. Service gets an A the lady called me pretty . Ambiance was so pretty and cool and fun the bathroom is soooo cool
google avatar

Jane M.

Yelp
Located in the mall. Nice decor and loved the small outdoor patio. All covid protocols were followed. Social distancing and masks. Service was really friendly and the place is massive. It was pretty empty when we went. Food was decent but it definitely was not authentic Japanese cuisine. California roll. Standard. Chicken katsu was super bland. No flavor at all and the sauces served with it were not good. Definitely not traditional katsu sauce. Chicken teriyaki standard. Meh. One point I have to say that I didn't like are the bathrooms. The doors are all glass and frosted and there is a gap between the door and the wall so anyone walking by can look right in as the bathroom is in an open space with one stall each and mirrors and hand washing stations are right in front of it. Cool design. But functionality not good.
google avatar

Justin L.

Yelp
This place is a shell of its former self. I noticed a little bit of a decline before the pandemic but the last two years have not been kind to this place. The hostess greeted us with so much disdain that we felt uncomfortable being seated. Upon being seated, we couldn't help but notice the lack of cleanliness. Crumbs all over the table and floor, the menus were heavily stained and the entire restaurant smells sour like can recycling room at the grocery store. Food is still decent but very overpriced compared to other sushi establishments that are of similar quality and cleaner. It's sad. We used to frequent this place all the time. Hopefully, this place turns it around soon.

Dishant

Yelp
Good service. Food is ok. Katsu should be skipped. Rolls are good. Good seating outdoor and indoors.

Heidi L.

Yelp
We always love this place for special occasions. Only wish the tempura Vegies were cut a little smaller so they are easier to handle with chopsticks.

Jim F.

Yelp
Love the super California rolls. They have outdoor seating for the summer. Bridgeport is fun to walk around. Service is great.
