London’s New Restaurant Openings - London - The Infatuation

"Hot on the heels of openings like Tatar Bunar, London is getting another exciting-sounding Ukrainian restaurant. Notting Hill spot Sino will have dishes like pork belly with blackened beetroot and vareniky dumplings on their menu. The drinks sound good too, with cocktails like Buckwheat Milk Punch created by a former A Bar With Shapes For A Name mixologist." - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Sino - Review - Notting Hill - London - The Infatuation

"A meal at Sino in Notting Hill has the same outcome as visiting an exclusive health retreat, or reading several books by Deepak Chopra—and that is to lower your cortisol levels and make you feel incredibly put together. But also, satisfied, because the food at this Ukrainian spot, all oozing chicken kyivs, sauerkraut dumplings, and elegant plates of marinated aubergine decorated with wildflowers, is great. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch video credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Pause Unmute Maybe it’s the stone walls in monastic grey, or the off-white bouclé banquette that demands you be very careful with the pickled beetroot—but the mood is peaceful. Notting Hill types who have nowhere to be at 2pm on a weekday sit beside fluttering linen curtains, apricot cocktails slipping down easily. Small groups chat quietly while picking at nutty rye bread and straight-laced pairs put in the odd request for the sexy, bassy instrumental track to be turned down. Don’t leave without getting the honey cake: it’s got a nutty, silky aerated walnut foam that we’d like to squirt on by the canister-full. Food Rundown Borodinsky Rye Deep, dark brown bread, pleasingly dense, and with a rich molasses flavour. This is the type of thing our doctor would be pleased to see us eating. But probably not with the amount of wildflower butter—finished with a tangy malt reduction—that we slather on. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Black Pudding Croquette, Adjika, Apple Jam The warming, smoky adjika sauce is the best thing about this dish, and it’s needed because the croquettes would be a little dry without it. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Marinated Aubergine, Kyyrma Cheese Bread This isn’t the sexiest-sounding of dishes, but it's one of our favourite things here. The bread is light and spongy, almost omelette-like in texture. And it’s the perfect thing for scooping up the aubergine, which has been cooked down to a thick sauce. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Chicken Kyiv, Bison Grass Mash, Wild Garlic Butter, Truffle The ready meal version of our childhood is like a distant, three times removed cousin of this dish. There’s a thin, crisp coating, the chicken is juicy, and the garlic butter oozes out. It’s perfect comfort food. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Crunchy Banosh, Mushroom, Wild Garlic A crunchy baton-like take on the smooth, cornmeal dish you might be familiar with. These crispy little logs are perfectly fine, but we wouldn’t reorder them when there are so many better things on the menu. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Sauerkraut Dumplings, Baked Cabbage Sauce, Smoked Dry Pear Light, springy dumplings and tangy sauerkraut—yes, delicious. But nobody told the baked cabbage sauce it was supposed to be a supporting cast member. Deeply savoury, smooth, and a little nutty, it’s our favourite thing on the plate. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch Honey Cake We’ve eaten a lot of honey cake in the name of research, and this is one of our favourites. We’d like it to be a touch sweeter, but in every other way—the glossy, thick honey coating, the light sponge layers, the airy walnut sauce—it’s a winner. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna

I dined here yesterday evening and was really impressed. The chef Eugene came out to tell us about his process, after we enquired with our kind and attentive waitress. The courses spoke for themselves, the artful and creative use of the beetroot throughout various dishes also blew my mind a little. This place exudes creativity and purpose. Their wine list is short but effective, covering some fantastic wines, regions and growers. The Biologist wine we chose from Odessa was rich, delicious, complex but well balanced. Come to this restaurant, it is small, relaxed and fascinating.

Really great Ukrainian kitchen with a fine dining vibe. The tartare was incredible and we loved the mushroom foam that reminded us of our childhood. Same with the dumplings. The price are high but the food quality, the way dishes are served and the ambience are worth it. People who complain that the prices are high should go back to eating in pubs if that’s what they are looking for.

Opened my eyes to Ukrainian cuisine. The marinated aubergine tasted like beef tartare and looked like a garden of flowers. Wildflower honey blew my mind with the warm toasted bread. First time trying benosh, loved it! Both desserts also were home runs, halva ice cream was a more intense and thick gelato and the honey cake just melts in your mouth. All the dishes presented in beautiful custom pottery and the vibe in the restaurant was very warm and inviting. Our server Elisa was also the sweetest soul, going through details of the menu and bringing such joyful energy that made the night special

I went to a new Ukrainian restaurant in Notting Hill, and I can't describe it in words. You have to try it. Everything was thought out to the last detail. Absolutely amazing, absolutely amazing! The service was simply magical. I especially want to mention that Alina helped me choose the wine right up until the very end. It was incredible; I haven't spent such a pleasant time there in a long time. If you're ever in London, I highly recommend trying everything they cook ❤️

Great all-round experience. Ukrainian restaurants often repeat classic dishes, but at Sino the experience was unique. Each dish had its own twist or offered a completely new perspective on the cuisine. Staff was professional. The turbot was the highlight for me. Cocktails are excellent, try one called “Rye.” And the honey cake is a must, even if you don’t usually like dessert.

What an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious, every single dish had its own unique flavor, and the menu is so thoughtfully put together. I especially loved seeing Ukrainian wine on the list!! The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and so friendly and the staff made the whole evening even more enjoyable. And last but definitely not least - the honey cake was simply TO DIE FOR! Truly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Can’t wait to come back!

Visited Sino on a rainy Sunday evening for a solo dining experience, and it turned out to be a memorable one. The atmosphere was serene and beautifully curated — calm, intimate, with a traditional Ukrainian twist in the interior. My only wish was for a slightly more considered choice of music, I thought it didn’t quite align with the ambiance and slightly detracted from the otherwise tranquil setting. That said, the service had a true human touch to it. Alina and Lisa were warm, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic - it was clear that they strive to create an enjoyable experience for their guests. The food was delicious overall, the beef tartare , the duck with stuffed shallots and honey cake all appeared to me as a masterful combination of different textures, temperatures, and flavours — harmonious, unexpected, and genuinely unique. 10/10 from today, I am very excited to see where they take this in the future.

We had the pleasure of visiting SINO restaurant twice recently, and I can confidently say they are truly striving to provide the best dining experience possible. Celebrating a special occasion our graduation made the visit even more memorable. First of all, the location is unbelievable, tucked away in a charming area of London. The restaurant itself is not large, but it’s incredibly cozy and filled with natural light, creating a welcoming atmosphere. A huge personal thank you to Alina and Maryiana, who looked after us with exceptional hospitality and warmth. Their care added a special touch to our visit, making us feel truly valued. What really sets SINO apart is the creativity they bring to their dishes. The unique recipes, blending traditional flavors with an inventive twist, offer something you simply won’t find anywhere else. I have to highlight their tartar absolutely delicious! The portion sizes are perfectly balanced to let you savor every ingredient, not just to fill you up. I’m proud that such a wonderful restaurant with Ukrainian heritage has opened here in London. SINO is now firmly on my list of favorite places to eat in London
