Sinpo International Market, Incheon

I love this local market! I only saw four other foreigners — mostly locals enjoying their favourite snacks. By far the crispiest fried chicken wings I’ve tasted in the Incheon area frequented by locals. I didn’t dare try the spicy or extra spicy 😅 — I went for 🙅🏻‍♀️ spicy, but the seasoning still had tiny 🌶️ in it. I bought the large container and it was worth every bite! I spread it out over three days 😄 and reheated on low fire — still delicious. You can also eat in the restaurant; for takeout, look for stall 3 or 5, with the eat-in option right across. Their recipe has been around since 1985. I enjoyed their Korean egg tarts. I stuck to the original and sour cream flavours to avoid disappointment (big fan of Macau and Cantonese egg tarts). The crust was crispier, the tarts larger, and not overly sweet — just perfect. I liked them even when straight from the fridge. The colourful 🌽🌽🌽… I was intrigued by the varieties, but didn’t enjoy them as much as normal steamed yellow corn in other parts of Asia, America, or Europe 😅. They were chewy and sticky — almost like eating sticky rice 😆. I also bought seaweed roasted over a charcoal burner 😋. Their sponge cake wasn’t what I expected, but the locals love it! I shared it because I didn’t know how to fully appreciate it 🤭. My favourite, and a surprise, was the hollow “dough”-looking snack. I was told the Korean name but didn’t remember it. Nothing special at first glance, but bite into pieces and 😋😋 — leavened bread coated with honey on the underside. I can see why locals buy 3–5 pieces at a time. They’re large enough for two people to share. I bought two, not realising how filling 🫣, but got to share them with local friends who hadn’t even tried this snack before! It’s addictive, like potato chips 🤗. I wasn’t crazy about the big bun with sweet red bean filling — too doughy for my taste — but older locals seemed to love it. Must be their childhood favourite. This place I recommend if you want to taste what many of the locals love. It’s not an eye-catching market, but I enjoyed many of their snacks and food. Most of the store owners are welcoming and friendly. 😉

Nice little market that wasn't too crowded. We saw a line at Sinpo Chicken takeout, definitely worth it. There is a steamed dumpling place on the same alley, the sign above it translated to, 40 years of traditional Chinese style. There was a constant line for their large steamed dumplings, which were very good and I would recommend them.

In one word, delicious! We went in the morning and enjoyed dumplings, candy, doughnuts, and fried chicken. Take your time going up and down the streets. Try new things!

There were a lot of places to look and too little time to explore. Especially the nearby underground market. Food choices was varied from cooked to raw items Food taste was great. Though i hope they have bite size items

It’s an average market. Nothing fantastic but it was an overall pleasant visit in a clean market. Got to see some Korean goods being sold, and we bought some nice cheap strawberries. We went there twice, once when it was still early in the morning with shops just starting to open, and another day in the afternoon when all were open with lots of customers walking around.

Quite a variety of local delicacies available and some even opening into the night. Good mix of fresh and cooked food, some with option to sit and dine. However, i do feel language will be a challenge especially if you dont speak korean.

A nicely organised locals market. Good to know that its sheltered. There many foods stalls. Its seem many locals queuing for fried Chicken with Chilli. There were also many seafoods and vegetables stalls here. Outside the sheltered market, there were also many nice shops for souvenirs and good restaurants for dining. Nice and clean place to visit.

I buy the best pork Mandu and grilled seaweed here👍👍👍, for fried chicken just OK, and I also love the fish cake that sold by ahjuma, better than in the middle in different row who sell by ahjusi. Ahjuma fish cake more delicate and chewy (cholgi cholgi)
