The Best Breakfast Restaurants in Bend, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Photographs of Sintra, Portugal, transport diners in this downtown eatery to the hometown of owner Manuel dos Santos. The spacious interior is never loud or hurried. The menu predominantly features classic American breakfast staples, the addition of garlic, paprika, cilantro, and oregano combined in a Portuguese mix creates a unique flavor experience. Smoky linguica sausage is a key ingredient in many dishes including the Portuguese Benedict. The bifana, a pork and fried egg panini, is another popular Portuguese dish served here. On the sweeter side, there are pancakes, French toast, and house granola. Sintra serves a variety of espresso drinks and has a full bar that serves the quintessential bloody mary — each ingredient is smooth and balanced with just a hint of spice. Online orders are accepted." - Barb Gonzalez

Sad to have to wait 45 minutes for food that I could barely chew (the French toast) I’d have been better off making my own breakfast at home… Only thing I liked was the atmosphere and my tea. Bend needs more breakfast places! :(

Google
Coffee, pancakes, waffles… and one of the best Bloody Marys I’ve had in a while! Everything at Sintra was super fresh and hit just right. It’s the kind of place you want to linger — great vibes, cozy atmosphere, and staff who make you feel right at home. Perfect for a slow brunch. Definitely a Bend favorite in our books.

Google
The food was excellent. Would highly recommend also getting a Portuguese cheese tart. Went for a casual lunch and do not regret. Super delicious!

Google
Great breakfast. You order then choose a spot. Sometimes on weekends the wait for food is very long or you won’t get a seat. Just expect that. The specials are good too.

Google
It was a bit strange that the Sentra Benedict comes with ham on the side, not on the Benedict. The French toast was fine. The services was great. I’m willing to give this another try.

Google
Awesome and cozy breakfast spot! The spinach crepe is great with a side fruit. The breve is simply excellent. Many breakfast item options, would love to come back and try more

Google
My mom and I had lattes and the Traditional Eggs Benedict with potatoes and it was fantastic. Excellent flavor and good portions. We went around 2 PM and the restaurant was not crowded and it was a very calm atmosphere with great, chill music. Would highly recommend.

Google
Same quality of food as the one in sun river. Unlike the one in sun river, however, you go up to the counter to order. We recommend more cheese in the omelets. Overall, a great place to have breakfast in Bend. We give it 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Outstanding! I was super amazed by the menu, the great service and a clean modern look of this place. I would happily come back again. I went in here for a quick lunch and ordered a kombucha on tap with their tacos. I was absolutely impressed by how flavorful the tacos were. Not only was there in Asada style meat, but also some sausage. The food was vibrant and fresh. There is a wonderful cilantro Crema on top of them that just made this absolutely delicious. All in all, if you haven't been here, this place is totally worth checking out.

Yelp
Excellent stop for breakfast or lunch in Sunriver. Pro's: Plenty of parking and walkability Pet friendly outdoor seating Relaxed atmosphere with excellent service All menu items were priced between $14-20 and the portions were great. Will definitely go back next time we visit.

Yelp
(Gf / egg free review) Cafe sintra in downtown Bend is such a fun spot for a weekend or a weekday breakfast/brunch. When I was younger, my dad and I used to pop in and get a Bloody Mary and potatoes on the weekend and I remember it being so good! I was hoping that was still the case and it was. It's been about five years since I've been here and it still is a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Upon arrival, you order at the counter and find a seat with your number and wait until the staff brings your food/drinks. This morning we omitted the alcohol, but I tried their mocha (a small is still fairly big) with whip... it was delicious! Very chocolaty- if you like tasting your coffee, definitely order 1/2 sweet or Throw an extra shot of espresso in. We waited about 6-10 minutes for our food. I ordered potatoes and a side of sausage and my partner ordered the "two eggs" breakfast. The bang for your buck on the breakfast plate is a good value for the amount of food. He has a strong appetite and wasn't able to finish all the toast at the end of the meal - if you aren't big eaters you could easily split a breakfast plate. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and the sausage was a little herby, not sweet at all. Very very delicious. I can't wait to come back the next time we visit bend!

Yelp
Nice bright cheerful place for breakfast and lunch. I liked the Portuguese eggs Benedict. It was spicy. My friends had ham and cheese omelette and huevos rancheros and they both liked those too. Very good service.
google avatar

Mikala C.

Yelp
Solid breakfast food and coffee! My only complaint is that I wish there were more egg free options on the menu. I came here with a family remember who could only order one item off the menu, so was a bit limiting. Nice ambiance as well. Would come back.

Yelp
I rarely give 5 stars on an initial visit... but from ambiance to food to service on a Late Sunday morning too, this place was firing on all cylinders. I like their system. When you walk up the entry ramp you grab a menu and wait in line. They've got a full bar and an espresso bar along with fresh baked goods and specials. The wait to order was a few mins (5-10) but the guy at the counter (owner?) was super friendly and personable. To the right is self service condiments, cups, glasses, utensils, a pot of coffee and a huge container of water. Once you order you get a number THEN find a seat. Everything we ate here was awesome and we loved the "piri piri" hot sauce. We tried the linguiça scramble and the Portuguese Benedict, both with the Sintra potatoes. Ingredients and spices were matched well as great flavors and portion size made for happy bellies and a happy wallet.

Yelp
I popped in and enjoyed the side of pancake and egg, it was delicious! Perfect portion size, friendly customer service. The orange juice was just so so so I might op her something different in the future but definitely recommend popping in here. Such a unique menu!

Yelp
Dear Sintra, You transported me to a Portuguese cafe the moment I stepped in. The decor inside the restaurant reminds you of the european vibes. I ordered the linguica scramble and belgium waffle. Excellent dishes. Linguica scramble provides an unique portugal sausage. It was amazing. The belgium waffle was a classic waffle with strawberries and bananas. Can't go wrong with that. This is a spot you definitely want to check out for a particularly Portuguese experience.

Yelp
Super friendly staff greeted us immediately & told us about the morning specials. For beverages we ordered Jasmine iced tea, orange juice, & a latte. The tea was sweet but not overly sweet with a refreshingly unique flavor that's hard to describe. We were pleasantly surprised! For our meals we ordered Biscuits & gravy (special) & the Fried Egg Sandwich. The biscuits were "just-right-sized" AND served with eggs & your choice of meat (bacon- duh). With our experience, biscuits & gravy are typically served without sides, so again, we were pleasantly surprised!Plenty of thick gravy covered the biscuit & delivered a very mild kick at the end. The bacon came in nice, thick slices. The slightly messy but deliciously hearty Fried Egg Sandwich was served with amazing Sintra potatoes. It was filled with lots of avocado & tomato slices, and thick cut bacon. We would eat here again!

Yelp
Enjoyed a delightful, quiet, early morning breakfast here. I had the veggie hash special and it was scrumptious and healthy. The atmosphere was also very nice and I especially enjoyed their music. They're able to open one of the large windows facing the street to let the outside in. And they have a few tables outside on the sidewalk. Coffee was very good and I noticed it was from Bellatazza which I was actually planning on going to after breakfast. Service was very friendly. Definitely a new favorite spot for breakfast in Bend!

William Z.

Yelp
Great food with clean ingredients. Staff was also very nice. I highly recommend Sintra for breakfast.

Pikmin M.

Yelp
Latte and matcha taste watered down. This place is too expensive for low quality drinks.
google avatar

Sahara V.

Yelp
Everything about Sintra was excellent! Will definitely be going back. The environment was nice, service was great, & the food was excellent. Not pictured was their espresso drinks, which were exceptional as well.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
Food was fine, but no one was blown away by their meal. The savory biscuits were a big hit, though. Nothing to complain about service or ambience wise. You order at the counter then a server comes to your table.

Yelp
What happens when a group of Portuguese people travel? They always find a Portuguese spot to try. First impression: Lovely place! The decor was spot on with the Portuguese tile as the logo, the photos on the walls from Portugal, and the rest of the decor. You can tell that this is a very cute and trendy cafe. They also had merchandise for purchase which I couldn't resist and bought myself a t-shirt. Our group ordered several different drinks including the Portuguese coffee, mimosa, mocha, caiparinha, moscow mule, and espresso martini. On average, we rated our drinks about a 6/10. The mocha was the favorite in our group but the alcoholic beverages were a miss for the rest of us. We didn't try any food, so I have no comments on that. Lastly, the service was good. The girls that helped us were very nice and answered all of our questions. Overall, I really enjoyed the vibe at Sintra but I wish I would have tried a non-alcoholic coffee.

Yelp
We got there in time before the brunch rush came. The jasmine tea infused with fruit was the bomb. The flavoring of spices and pineapple went well with the iced jasmine tea. I was excited to try this place because I've had Portuguese sausage from Hawaii and it was just like home. The sausage went well with the eggs Benedict. Instead of usually hollandaise sauce, I liked the red sauce it came with. DH said his entree was delish too. We would come back to visit when we come back to Bend.

Yelp
Good coffee, seems a bit ritzy. We didn't eat but the service was quick. Seems like it could be a good dinner spot.
google avatar

Holly B.

Yelp
Service was friendly and upbeat, everything we ordered was delicious. Atmosphere was pleasant with open windows in perfect weather and a slow Wednesday morning. High quality ingredients and strong drinks. What a perfect brunch! Made us never want to leave Bend

Yelp
We visited Bend for the weekend for snowboarding. Are at this restaurant before we went back home. Love the vibe here. The staff was super friendly. We had to wait for a bit since it was busy. But the food was worth the wait. The muffin was served warm. Eggs Benedict was delicious. Poached eggs were perfectly cooked. The sausage was very flavorful. The size of the dish was just right. May visit again if I come back to Bend.

Yelp
Quite delicious breakfast. I was a bit hungry after though. I should have ordered a side dish to go with my meal. That's on me though. I'm a hungry Farmer.

Yelp
Popped into Sintra on a Saturday morning when we were visiting Bend based on a recommendation from family. I'm not a huge fan of order and sit down but we were willing to give it a go and the man taking our order was quick yet kind. Luckily there was plenty of seating so we nestled into a high top in the back. Our americanos were just right - they tasted like solid espresso. I'm not one for sweets but my bf's apple pastry was delightful. Their food menu has a lot of fun options so maybe consider stepping outside of your usual go tos.
google avatar

LaDonna H.

Yelp
Great little cafe that receptionist at my hotel recommended for a good breakfast and cappuccino. Variety of options. I had the highly recommended Portuguese eggs Benedict and it was excellent if you like a little spice in the morning. I will definitely be back when I'mI'm visiting Bend, OR again.

Sean R.

Yelp
Always great food and relaxed atmosphere. One of the best spots in town. The Mediterranean omelette is epic.
google avatar

Missa L.

Yelp
I love this place! Clean, open, phenomenal service, food was on point. I had the salmon Benedict and an oh so yummy dirty chai.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
The family and I were going to have a nice breakfast here this morning, my wife was told we couldn't have a table in an empty business until we ordered food? We were waiting for my son and daughter to meet us there so we were supposed to stand? Very rude we put our menus back and went somewhere we felt welcome.
google avatar

Judi W.

Yelp
Everything was excellent. Super nice staff, great variety of menu selections, fair prices, and clean, cute welcoming environment. We had a vanilla latte (yum!), steak Benedict, and French toast Trio. I'm picky about my eggs and they got it just right. My son said his Benedict was perfect. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Rebecca E.

Yelp
Delicious! You order at the counter and find a seat. Staff are friendly. Nice casual ambiance with soft Portuguese music. I had the Huevos Rancheros, it was perfect.

Karen S.

Yelp
Our food was delicious. The service was very fast. The owner was there working and greeting guests. We will be back for sure .
google avatar

Yelp
The location itself is very cute and well decorated, right in downtown Bend. I like that the breakfast and lunch menu are both served simultaneously. Some of the sandwiches looked great but I decided against it because the side option was only kettle chips until you got 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad and for the price, kettle chips made it feel not worth it. I ended up getting the hash special and it was good but nothing special. Very similar to something I'd just make at home. I was eyeing the biscuits and gravy and I probably should have ordered that.

Avery S.

Yelp
It was a tad bit expensive but delicious. Really enjoyed the french toast that we had.
google avatar

Genalyn C.

Yelp
The inside is very unique and loved that you could order before you sit down. Service was top notch and friendly. I grabbed one of the specials for breakfast and wow. The biscuits were super fresh and delicate!

Scott W.

Yelp
I was passing through Bend and stopped for dinner here. It had been open for years for Breakfast, but they just started dinner service a few weeks ago. It was delicious, and we will return if we are in the neighborhood. We had the Chicken Piri-Piri and Pork and Clams, which were really good.

Bryan W.

Yelp
Cool vibe, bustling, busy cafe. Mediocre food. Coffees were mid. Great in a pinch or if you need to lick a hangover.

Jenny D.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in downtown bend! Food is excellent! Staff is wonderful!! What more could we ask for :))
google avatar

Mary Kay H.

Yelp
Had a nice experience for breakfast. We ordered French toast, eggs Benedict w/ham and breakfast burrito. French toast was so good! Nice hint of vanilla to it. Eggs Benedict was also very good, and I've had a lot of Benedict's! Hollandaise sauce had a hint of lemon, which is perfect. Served on baguette instead of traditional English muffin. Hubs had the burrito and liked it, but wanted more of a "kick" to it. The red sauce on top is just tomato, when he assumed it was salsa. He regretted not getting the Sintra hash, but still managed to eat the whole burrito. Coffee was strong and the 2 people working were very nice and welcoming.

Brooke O.

Yelp
The food was alright? Nothing special, the omelette I got was super watery and the stuff wasn't accommodating to any requests made. A bit overpriced for what you get. The omelette was also overcooked.
google avatar

Jodi F.

Yelp
I've gotten used to having such amazing food everywhere I've gone in Bend, that having a mediocre meal here was just so much more disappointing. I had French toast that looked like they brushed one side of the French bread with egg mixture and the rest was just plain. There was no flavor at all except bread. Then served it with those tiny cold butter peel back packets. It was just so blah. The three stars are considering that the cappuccino was good, otherwise I would've given one star.
google avatar

Claire B.

Yelp
Man I wanted to like this place. I'm portuguese and have been to Sintra so was really excited to check this place out. Looks like they had some awesome specials and french toast was fricken bomb! Why 3 starts you ask? Oh man do they need a hostess. So its a pay then grab your number kind of system. So I do what anyone would do in a group of people. Collect our orders and have my group sit down so they also don't take up a bunch of space waiting in line and I go order for us. When I get to the front I mention that we already have a table as I have a two year old and trust me its better for everyone if he sits, I got scolded for not getting a table for the group until after I ordered. I was stunned that A) I was spoken to so rudely and B) surprised they thought anyone would assume to follow this advice voluntarily? Why would I have a group of four in a line instead of 1. Wouldn't that make the line INCREDIBLY LONG and also so many transactions? I didn't ask but he explained if people order and dont have a table it makes a big mess. I don't think any customer is ever going to consider that ahead of time so changing the system might make more sense vs lecturing me. You see a big line out the door and decide everyone in your group should stand in line amongst other guests tables who are eating like bro come on? Not to mention while I was standing there this guy was talking to another employee said to check out the group in the middle as he was pretty sure they brought outside coffees and were sitting without a number, like oh no! Calm down. How about instead of policing your ridiculous rules (in front of customers) get a hostess and some servers. The servers that brought our food were pretty sweet. My linguica was not so warm and kind of dry so the whole reason I went was also like meh. Delicious drink menu and french toast.
google avatar

Tim V.

Yelp
Great coffee, cocktails, and food especially the eggs Benedict and also baked goods. Basically everything.

Priscilla H.

Yelp
Expect an hour long wait for food. We came here on a Sunday which is pretty busy. It's pay at the front then find a table. When we got there there were lots of tables that didn't get their food yet, we were standing in line for about 25 mins before it was our turn and after we ordered we sat down and had to wait an additional HOUR for our food to come out. We ordered the Portuguese Benedict and two pancakes meal. It came out lukewarm and the food was ok, the portion is pretty small for the price of $48 total. Pancakes were dry, placed on too small of a plate so the eggs were just leaking into the pancakes. They also give you pre-packaged butter which was disappointing for the price ($18). If you're a brunch restaurant at least make your own in house whipped butter. Portuguese Benedict was like any Benedict except for the linguica that came with it. If you're not in a rush you should come here. Don't if you're on a schedule. Here's the quick breakdown of ratings: Food: 2/5 not so significant, could go to any brunch and it would be better. Ambience: 3/5 it was nice inside but too loud and too hit
google avatar

Yelp
Friendly and Tasty. Read the reviews and B -lined for breakfast. Sintra did not disappoint ! 1st greeted by a friendly staff member at the counter( you order there ). The meal is delivered to the table of your choosing. Self service coffee / water was convenient, while the rich aromatic coffee gets high marks. When the food arrived it was hot and presented spectacularly. The first bite of each dish confirmed what the eyes could see. The food is fresh and prepared with skillful digits. I call these juevos rancheros "The fancy version" because of the rather ornamental garnishment. Definitely one of the top 5 I've tried from a lifetime in search of the best. Biscuits and gravy with delicious Portuguese sausage "Linguiça" and perfectly cooked eggs set the dish apart from your typical southern dish. This was theeee spot and we willllll be back!
google avatar

Joana B.

Yelp
My Portuguese heart exploded when we came across Sintra during our weekend trip to Bend. Moving from California with a giant Portuguese community to Oregon where I have yet to find anything, was a bit hard but now I know I can always come here for a reminder of home. The decor and photos of Sintra are gorgeous and the food was great!

T S.

Yelp
A surprise find! Fabulous casual lunch with Super Bock & vinho verde. What's not to love? Sergio & staff are super friendly. If I lived locally, I would be a regular customer!
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Had a work breakfast here a few weeks ago. Everyone's breakfast was fresh, hot and delicious. The coffee was good too. Great location in downtown Bend with a great venue and good service too.
google avatar

Jenn H.

Yelp
Excellent little spot! Would love to come back for lunch as well! Clean and quaint. Fast good food!

L T.

Yelp
While I love the food, The customer service is extremely lacking. We had issues with our order and the waitress acted as if it wasn't her problem and didn't care. She never offered to fix it or any type of alternative. I wish I had a better experience

Sunrise O.

Yelp
Really love this place. I had their French toast. It was great. It is with French bread (baguettes style) which is really good. My boyfriend got the hash special with various meats and hollandaise sauce-he loved it. He has also had their biscuits and gravy and makes sure to order every time we are here. Note: If expecting the really super soft thick French toast this is not that. So far everything we have gotten here we have liked :) Staff is always super friendly :)
google avatar

Aly S.

Yelp
Super busy on the weekend but the staff was helpful in answering our food questions; found a table immediately after ordering. Food was good and it was fun revisiting some Portuguese dishes we had enjoyed on vacation.
