"While prices are well above average in Southern California’s robust boba culture, Los Angeles is no stranger to high-end boba; Sip Boba Lounge opened in early 2023 and serves bubble tea and alcohol in a nightclub setting." - Mona Holmes

"At first glance, Sip Boba Lounge in Little Tokyo looks like any other club. The 3,500-square-foot space has an intimate bar, dance floor, and patio section with views of Downtown Los Angeles and City Hall. The VIP tables with $2,000 minimums, DJs spinning ‘90s pop music, and bottle servers with sparklers wouldn’t seem out of place at many clubs across the city. But unlike other Los Angeles hotspots, Sip is the first nightclub in the world to serve exclusively alcoholic boba drinks." - Kristie Hang

The customer service is the main reason they have a great review, the teas were ok but tasted watered down. The fries were great. Such a great atmosphere and vibe, so much potential but the menu is lackluster.

Went a little after they opened. Got the bootea me down and hug passion. 🙈 First time getting boozy boba. They don't taste like alcohol. So it's a little dangerous. 😅 but tasty

Overall: 4.5/5 (dine in) We stumbled upon SIP Boba Lounge while exploring Little Tokyo. We got there on a Friday night ~ 5:15PM and we were the only ones there. They just opened so it was happy hour $7 any alcoholic boba drink. After we paid for our drinks, we went to grab a table near the stage since we weren't restricted to bar seating. The drinks were delicious and wayyy better than when I tried it at Arena. Litty Lychee ($7 HH): It's a lychee green tea infused with vodka and was really tasty. Definitely a great option for those who like fruity drinks. Buzzed Butterbeer ($7 HH): Wow, the drink actually tastes like Butterbeer and is kinda strong. The sweetness level was good. The boba was soft & chewy. I'd drink this over regular boba any day.

Never realized there were spiked boba drinks. Its a must try in your life! Recommend the Hug passion (cognac) and Litty lychee (vodka)

The bouncers at this establishment are on a serious power trip. All five of them made our group walk around the entire plaza just to enter, which was completely illogical and a waste of everyone's time. It's clear that this place suffers from a lack of proper leadership and organization. The bouncers seem to be running the show without any concern for customer experience or efficiency. It's frustrating to deal with such arbitrary and nonsensical rules, especially when they're enforced by power-hungry individuals who seem to enjoy inconveniencing patrons. Management needs to step up and rein in these overzealous bouncers before they drive more customers away with their absurd demands and lack of common sense.

Google
The alcoholic boba tea was fun to try. I'd recommend fruity flavors like the passion fruit tea. The lounge staff were friendly and helpful. The vibes were chill and it wasn't too packed around 10-11pm. Small but nice venue.

Google
Really cool idea, but from my experience, the place had a poor execution on that idea. The drinks were very mid and expensive (about $13 per boba) while the atmosphere of the place seemed dead inside. This was probably due to the fact that the music was way too loud for the number of people who were inside. Everyone who came in to order drinks eventually shifted to the patio area. Staff was professional though.

Yelp
Review for evening happy hour/free tasting event: They're not very clear about the tasting event. I was led to believe that they were doing free appetizers and free alcoholic boba. What we got was a plate of fries to share in our group and a small sample of alcoholic boba. They only allowed one cup per person. The tasting event ended at 7 PM, but happy hour ended at 6 PM. Instead of $13 drinks, you could get them for $7. No happy hour deals on appetizers. I wouldn't come back here for the tasting event. Review for lounge: I've never had to pay for admission. Sometimes they do giveaways for a free table on their IG! Now that I think about it though - there was one time I got a birthday table. I was under the impression that they would comp the table and the boba bucket after speaking with a couple promoters. However, they charged me tip ahead of time, supposedly for the girls. They told me that if I don't pay, then I would forfeit my table. When we did show up, they pressured every single person in my group to get bottles! When I got the check, I saw that they charged me AGAIN for tip. I think it would have been nice if they were clear about everything up front. In terms of location, it's on the third floor of a small plaza in Little Tokyo. It's within walking distance to other places like Wolf & Crane and Ave 26 Tacos, so it can be part of a fun night out. There are some free street spots, but otherwise you can pay for parking in a structure or garage nearby. They play hip hop!

Yelp
The vibes are interesting.. not sure how I feel about it; not a big fan of the ambience here; its weird. The drinks were tasty and it is definitely a cool concept, but I'm not sure if it made my girlfriend sick. (we only had one drink all day.) The service is very good and the bartender was helpful when choosing what to order.

Angeline N.

Yelp
Service here with Jacky was amazing. He was here by himself Saturday night but took great care of our big crowd and birthday girl. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and fun to interact with. He made great drinks and shots as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This is a great place to go to if you want a bit of a kick to drinks you'd usually get at any other boba place. They have a small menu of a couple milk teas and fruit teas and some other special drinks. They also have some food items if you have the munchies, though I haven't tried those yet. Drinks are normally $13 or $14 or so, but when I went, I happened to go during Happy Hour, so the drink was only $7 or so. I went on a Saturday, and when I asked, I was told Happy Hour was from 5-6pm. I don't know if they do Happy Hour on other days or other times. This time, I ordered the Peach Diddy, which would probably be some peach flavored fruit tea in other places, just with alcohol. The tea tasted great, and the peach flavor in the drink was pretty prominent as well. The alcohol either goes well with the drink and/or is not overused, which makes it easy to keep drinking. Though I should add that last time I came with a friend, we ordered 2 drinks (I drank most of them) but I don't think I felt any bit buzzed at all. I'd say I have a higher tolerance, but this will depend on each individual, so make your own judgement call.

Karina M.

Yelp
I think this is such a fun idea like who doesn't love drinking and boba! We came in because they had a sign downstairs for a $5 special and the drink itself was pretty good. I didn't know if I would enjoy boba with taste of alcohol but the alcohol flavor wasn't overpowering. They know how to make some nice boba lol. The outdoor seating area was nice to hang out with friends.

Rachel Y.

Yelp
Located on the 3rd floor of the Weller Court, this spot is a hidden gem waiting to explode. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE boba - but alcoholic boba? I was pretty hesitant... but they proved me wrong! DRINKS: - bootea me down +5/5 Mango green tea infused with tequila - can it get any better than this?! You could hardly taste the alcohol but you'll definitely feel it within a couple sips - trust me. - litty lychee +5/5 Im a HUGE fan of lychee so I literally order it all the time. With that said, this boba drink infused with vodka killllled it. Did I also mention the boba in both of these drinks was perfectly executed and had the perfect amount of chewiness? - Full Bar While we didn't take advantage of this, they do have this for those of you who want a non-boba drink or simply shot$$$$. Overall, beware - this spot has so much potential and it's about to become the next IT spot of k-town!

Yelp
I found this place while looking for spots to check out on a weekend trip to LA. Boba and alcohol? Sign me the heck up, I thought! It's relatively easy to find and is on the third floor of the shopping center that houses Kinokuniya and Marukai. Walking in, I absolutely loved the look of the space! There's a bar area, a more lounge type area with tables and chairs, and an outdoor patio area where people can stand as well. My friend and I opted to sit at the bar. Our bartenders were Alex and a very sweet girl who had red hair. (If you're reading this, I'm so sorry I never caught your name!) They were both very friendly and engaged in genuine conversation with us, which I really loved. I don't need every service person to do that for me but it's the little things that matter. Now for the drinks and food. My friend and I ordered three rounds of drinks and some of the garlic furikake fries. The first two rounds were alcoholic bubble tea, which is what we originally came for. All the drinks we had were absolutely delicious and made with care. My personal favorite was the Litty Lychee. The fries were a great pair, very flavorful and exactly what I wanted. And our last round was something Alex made us when we told him to surprise us. We loved those drinks too. TLDR; if you want to have good drinks in a nice space that makes you feel safe and appreciated, come here. You won't find a better spot. I'm sad that this place isn't closer to me, but I will absolutely make it a point to visit every time I'm in LA. Please stay in business for a long time, Sip!!!

Yelp
My partner and I came here because I saw one of my friends post about it. I ordered the Peach Diddy (double shot) you pay for double the price but it's worth it because I don't wanna drink too much liquids to get a buzz. Even tho I got the double shot the drinks tasted really good I dont taste the alcohol. My partner got the strawberry cabana with boba (double shot) and really loved it. His tasted a little more alcoholic but it was still really tasty. We gonna order another double shot order hahaha. This the spot to go pre-game. Their $5 soft opening special is such a steal with how delicious and high quality these drinks are.

Chelsea C.

Yelp
Came here a few times with friends. Promoters and staff are all really cool. Free boba bucket on your bday month. Dance floor and some tables inside and tables outside. $200 bottle service if you pre-order by 4:30pm. My favorite shot is the dirty candy shot and my favorite alcoholic boba is the strawberry one. Only 1 of their bartenders does the alcoholic bobas. The tapioca balls in the boba drinks can be better.

Jerilou M.

Yelp
Alcohol + Boba - you can never go wrong with that combo! I went during their soft opening so they currently had a deal on the drinks -- less than $7! The boba is soft and chewy -- definitely paired well with the drinks. I wish I had asked for extra! They come in glass jars but you can't take them home. When I went--- I chose the milk-based teas but I really should've gone for the fruit-based ones. If you're looking for a great start to the night, this is deffff the spot to pregame!

Yifu P.

Yelp
The lychee boba is highly recommended, everyone here is extremely friendly, give this place a try

Jacqueline D.

Yelp
The drinks here are good! I can't say anything about the food since I didn't try it, but my review is based on the service, drinks, and atmosphere. Sip is located on the top floor, and it's pretty hard to find, but it's in the corner of the plaza. The inside is super cute and almost looks club-like. I liked the big screen! There's also an outdoor area. The bartenders there were super nice and helped me choose a drink. They have other drinks as well other than alcoholic boba..so shots + cocktails (: The drinks were good! You honestly can't tell that there's alcohol in it.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Had such high hopes for this place at first. We came in after hearing from one of the nice women that work there that there was alcoholic boba. Wanted to give it a try. Boy oh boy was it disappointing. First off, the bar tender charged us on the spot, unlike the other people who were there, who had tabs open. Second, the bartender was super cold and rude to us. Third, the place was a ghost town, should of never wasted the $30 on 2 glasses of alcoholic boba, and know no one besides one other group of 3 people who were there, boba was also watered down. SAVE YOUR MONEY

Haley H.

Yelp
Me & my friends were really excited to try this place out - for me it was mostly because of their cool alcoholic boba drink. Little did we know that it's not served all day. We arrived at like 8:45 pm & were turned away because they needed to "set up" for the club, or whatever it's called, @ 9 pm. So we just waited around until 9. Once we got inside, the bartender sadly told us they don't serve their boba past 9 :( That's like the whole reason I wanted to go & I was under the impression it was served all day. We ended up just ordering regular drinks & sat for a bit. Their drinks are super overpriced considering the size lol. I took like a few sips & I was finished. Also, idk if this was just this one night we went, but everyone there seemed like they were like in middle school or something LOL. The vibes were too young for us & i'm only 23.

Justine A.

Yelp
I honestly didn't know what to expect when I went out with my coworkers to an alcohol boba lounge and honestly, I HAD SO MUCH FUN! The bob is honestly delicious and I could barely taste the alcohol. Pretty dangerous, but I only had 1. I felt like I had me transported back home to the bay with all the love the love the dj was playing. Mac Dre & Boba with alcohol is somehow a match made in heaven.

Lawrence L.

Yelp
At the Sip got a taste of the worst bar in la. The problem was when we were about to enter until the white bouncer got into a argument with his coworkers about charging us 3 dollars. Because we were wearing shorts. The problem was that he was the only one trying to charge me with the others looking at him like he was crazy. Made me feel like he was just trying to come up off of 3 dollars. Which is pretty sad the fool must not get paid enough. After they were going back and forth the other Asian bouncer just gave up and they were still trying to charge the 3. All this bs over 3 dollars and I was just trying to grab a drink with my friend. This is when I should have realized just to leave but no. When I got inside the very first shots we got were barely at the halfway line and everyone inside seems a little too young to be there. Got the vibe the place was trying to be something that it is clearly not and left as soon as I took the shot. Went down to the other bars in Japan town and they killed it don't know what is up with this place. Definitely avoid and I recommend wolf and crane or spitz was pretty good!

Anastasia B.

Yelp
They skimp on alcohol so badly lol. I wish I took a photo of the shot poured bc it was appalling that the bartender was doing that most of the night. I usually count my pours when I pour alcohol and his was like a 2 second pour lol. Of course I had to call his ass out lol. Then he added an additional 1 second pour lol. (I'm an alcoholic so I need my nectar). After that they started using these baby shot glasses. But my friend ordered the boba drink and the boba was BAD too loo Wtheck. It was so under cooked lol. Anyways for a new bar in LA y'all suck.

Adam A.

Yelp
I really like this place! Amazing drinks and amazing service from our bartender Jake! He makes the best old fashion I've ever had. This place is a great place to grab a good drink and mellow out or turn it up. The only problem is it's pretty hot around the bar area. They need to fix the AC in this establishment..other than that I will return here in the future.

Brian K.

Yelp
SIP Boba Lounge is a really hip alcoholic boba bar on the 3rd floor of Weller Court. I got there around 6 PM so the vibe was chill and a great place to do a quick after work drink with my friend. I was pleasantly surprised by the drink itself. I had the alcoholic boba at Arena over a year ago and didn't like it but these drinks are much higher quality. I ordered the Litty Lychee and it pretty much tasted like a normal boba drink and I could barely taste the alcohol. I'll be coming back soon and adding this to my list of hang out spots with my friend!

Kate Lý J.

Yelp
I barely tasted the alcohol in these drinks. They were yummy though. Dancing was lackluster but the music was good.

Natalie W.

Yelp
Place was super neat! I really loved the outdoor rooftop area gave the place a really chill vibe. I ordered the litty lychee and it was really good! The alc and tea ratio was well measured! The workers (Tuan) was super helpful describing the drinks and what best fit with my crave. I will be coming here more often! $7 for soft opening as well!!!

Brandon T.

Yelp
Location is nice and the spot is fairly clean. I'm assuming because it's a new location. I wouldn't be surprised if this joint looks raggedy in half a year. People working there are nice. Just like Arena, the location is small and the dance floor is even smaller. The outside patio location is nice-ish. The drinks are alright. The amount of boba in each drink is abysmal. You can tell the boba wasn't soaked in any kind of flavoring at all. There is probably little communication among the people working there. We had one guard told us he could chill at a certain location. Then a few minutes later we were told we couldn't by another guard. We explained to the guard that was pushing us away that we were told to stay here and he hits us with a "I understand that, but this part of [where we were standing] is part of the club." 1.) I HIGHLY doubt they own a corner of the location where we were standing. If they do, I apologize for being wrong. 2.) You clearly don't understand jack if we told you that we were literally given the okay to chill at a certain spot

Jenn L.

Yelp
Nope! Overpriced drink and they charged me pseudo tips on their own that I didnt write down. Luckily I found it out later on and disputed it. Shady, who are you to tip yourself when all you did was to pour my drink not even fully. Oh and music was super boring too. I saw no one single person dancing..and now that I see reviews here, drinks were just in a plastic cup without a lead,. I had no way other than spilling half of it

Rebecca A.

Yelp
The best place to get alcoholic boba! It definitely is a must-go-to spot! Everytime I'm in Little Tokyo, I guarantee I'll be there again. If you haven't tried it, you're missing out.

Brian D.

Yelp
Decided to come here on my day off right before my study session and I was amazed from the drink & food selections they had to offer! Out of the variety of alcoholic drinks they have, I would highly recommend: the Buzzed Butterbeer, Litty Lychee, & lastly Tropic Like It's Hot! Another thing too, out of their selection of food the Katsu Sandwich is something to die for. From the crispness of the pork katsu, white bread and special house sauce, it's forsure a vibe.

Kathy T.

Yelp
Nice vibes + you can't go wrong with adding alc into alcohol Come here for a chill time :)

Winky H.

Yelp
Amazing alcoholic boba! Would definitely recommend the Litty Lychee w/ Boba. The entire lounge is super cool and the outdoor area is such a vibe :)

Lina C.

Yelp
I was so happy when I found this place. They have the best boba drinks with a very mild taste of alcohol. The staff is super cool and they have games in the patio. I would recommend the Strawberry Cabana drink...I felt the alcohol after just one drink and it was delicious!

Borei K.

Yelp
The balance between strong liquor, milk tea, and really chewy boba... is fantastic. The salty fries were great. Not salty in a bad way, but salty as it goes great as a bar food.

Vincent T.

Yelp
I wish I can give this place another try and a better rating because I'm sure there are amazing specs about it. I don't appreciate how one of their workers grabbed me by my clothes and ripped my shirt that my late family had gifted to me. I wasn't even banned from the place. The worker, a bottle service girl on a weekday night, had accused me of assaulting her even though I was sitting in the corner where there are cameras. We had just entered and sat down, she approached us yelling and then immediately ripped my shirt. I understand her actions if she was actually assaulted but I truly believe the worker was just intoxicated or high because this was just so bizarre and rude. Definitely wasted money and really bummed out about my memory of someone I loved is now a disaster. Also to note, it seems that prices vary on who allows you to enter. Some people pay on age and some people don't pay at all. Something also to consider, however may be the day you go or connections you have. Any of my other reviews are available to see I love keeping things legitimate and ultimately I did not want to leave a review as such as this. Just being harassed like how I was is not something I'll ever enjoy!

Anika P.

Yelp
For a slow Thursday night a $20 coverage fee is excessive on top of me having to pay for a $15 boba drink (idk prices but since there is booze involved). Was looking forward to it but not for the entrance fee being that much.

Melissa K.

Yelp
Awesome place for tipsy boba drinks! Yum, yum. Very grown-up and sophisticated-sexy (not trashy-sexy). The bartenders are also funny, so make sure to tip them.

K O.

Yelp
Came here last night. TLDR: The drinks are good and the vibe is nice, hard to find a non alcoholic option but I'm looking forward to their full opening. I found it difficult to get the bartenders to understand I needed something fully non-alcoholic. I ordered two of the passion tea (sorry don't remember the menu) and said several times I don't mind if the "drink doesn't taste right" I just wanted to not have alcohol because me and one other person I was with couldn't drink. The bartender gave me our drinks and said, FYI there's a little bit of alcohol because that's what gives the flavor (probably a fruit liquor). I said thank you but I absolutely CANNOT have alcohol in these drinks, and he was super concerned it would "taste wrong" because the flavor comes from their alcohol mix ins, which totally makes sense, and I said okay I get that but I cannot have alcohol. He asked me if I'm allergic. And at this point I kind of lost my patience and said, look, one person is a recovering alcoholic and I am on medication so I'm on doctors orders so I CANNNNNOTTT have alcohol. I explained again I'm totally ok with whatever drink and it doesn't have to taste perfect I just can't have alcohol. I don't think it's necessary to explain to any bartender why I need a non alcoholic drink (and most bars are very sensitive to this, which is why a soda and lime is usually not charged, for example) to the point of outing someone for their addiction, a pregnancy, or medical situation. He remade our drinks (the BootTea without alcohol) which were very yummy and I tipped him a bunch more cash for the labor and the confusion and thanked him for being patient. Two other drinks that were ordered was the BootTea (I guess their drinks come with one shot so that person wanted a double because it wasn't strong enough) that was reported as enjoyable, as well as a Strawberry Cabana which was reported as tasty and you couldn't taste the alcohol in it. Plus the two non-alcoholic ones we ordered, which were yummy, all around tasty and the boba was a perfect consistency. To management: I know it's a soft opening and you're clearly trying to watch overhead and manage product experience, I hope this was a learning lesson and you create 1-2 drinks that are alcohol free so that these conversations can go smoother in the future without having to resort to explaining someone's addiction or medicinal situation in front of friends and strangers. Will definitely come back and hope you do well. Welcome to Little Tokyo!

Phillip N.

Yelp
Hours are limited and not what is listed. I tried twice already since I live near. If not in area, I wouldn't bother or wait for them to have a full opening.

Alan T.

Yelp
Great drinks and chill vibes. Boba + alc is interesting combo but it doesn't taste that bad at all. Boba was soft and chewy. Plenty of parking at nearby structures.

Brian I.

Yelp
SIP Boba Lounge is in Little Tokyo's Weller Court on the Third Floor corner. They have "alcoholic boba," which is a misnomer because they are technically boba cocktails. They are the second "alcoholic boba" joint in DTLA, a copycat of what came before, and a major distinction is that SIP folks are boba bartenders who make boba cocktails whereas its predecessor had boba baristas. SIP opened in May 2022 and celebrated the whole month with $5 boba cocktails. I went this evening when they have now become a nightclub, which isn't that much different from what I remember them and it seemed like a disorganized mess. Tonight, it was not clear that boba is only served on the left side of the bar, happy hour lasted half an hour because they were not set up and I got a drink five minutes after the hour even though I waited in line minutes before the hour, and it was not clear that we could not sit inside but had to sit outside. There were more people tonight than the last time I've been in May, but I thought they would figure things out more since then. Other than the sidewalk sign, I would never have known it was there tucked away on the third floor of Weller Court. Lastly, SIP Boba Lounge is an outlier to the community-oriented businesses in Little Tokyo. For example, there are several places to get boba in Little Tokyo and SIP is unaware (I asked) that they use the same jars distinctively used by Milk+T across the street. Even so, I like boba cocktails in general and I enjoy their boba cocktails and also drinks from their regular bar.

Dennis T.

Yelp
Place is cool but the security are dicks. They be power tripping. Drinks are a little pricey but that's expected, small dance floor and long lines for the restroom.

Sota R.

Yelp
I loved this place! Boba and alcohol is genius in my opinion! I will be back for sure

Sofia O.

Yelp
Wow! I was impressed by the delicious, soft, yet chewy boba. The tea also tastes great and I love how it's not bitter. The tea is perfectly sweetened- not overly sweet. I've tried a few of the fruity flavors and my recommendation for anyone coming here for the first time is to try any of those fruity flavors cuz u can't go wrong with those lol. They can make most of their drinks non alcoholic as well, which is awesome. They have a wide selection of boba drinks (around 12 flavors) between 5-9pm. After 9pm, they have only 4 flavors. I love coming here to hangout with friends, enjoy boba, and play games in their really nice patio. If you haven't been here already, come check this place out!

Sean L.

Yelp
Boba was nasty. Milk tea tasted rancid. Wouldn't come back. The concept was cool, but it is not going to last because the boba is really bad

Nico T.

Yelp
This place is the upscale boba lounge I never knew I needed!! I'd highly recommend the Blackberry Blitz and all the alcoholic boba flavors I've tried here are A1!!

Quynh P.

Yelp
First off , this place is niceeeee. It gives off a club vibe but it's a lounge and not only that there's alcoholic boba ?!? There are so many drinks it's hard to choose , but my favorite one would be the Bootea Me Down. Next time, I definitely want to try the Tropic like it's hot ! I am in love with their Furikake Edamame , I could not stop eating it , 11/10 recommend that

Dth S.

Yelp
great new place all around&omgggg who doesn't like a good boba cocktail (right?) EXCEPT for the super 'baby high school DJs' that come with like 150 of their own 'high school entourage' who crowd the entire area and the 'high school DJ' guy ONLY plays really boring obnoxious rap that nobody even knows or likes or dances to ok?!?

Courtney Y.

Yelp
Chill vibe, good music, cute bartenders, and alcoholic boba. What more could you ask for??

Johnny C.

Yelp
Heard this place recently opened and decided to stop by today. Was welcomed by security and I made my way to the counter. Rob gave an excellent rundown of the popular drinks and I bought the strawberry milk tea with rum. Loving the out door patio at night, it's a very relaxing kind of vibe. Will come back when I'm in Little Tokyo to try other drinks!

Brian H.

Yelp
I went today with some friends during their soft opening & thoroughly enjoyed my experience there! I really like what they have done with the place. The inside gives off a bar vibe and the patio is a nice outdoor lounge feel. They were playing the playoffs game on the big screen so it was nice to relax and eat the food while drinking their alcoholic boba! WHAT! ALC BOBA! Only downside would be parking. I had no problem but I can see it being a hassle when the plaza gets busy. I will definitely be coming back when they are officially open.

Yelp
Great place to have alcoholic boba drinks and to relax. The bartender Jake made the drinks on point. Great lounge to relax and talk to your friends and meet new friends.
